Checking in was very pleasant. The gentleman was very helpful and knowledgeable. The younger lady who checked me out when I brought the U-Haul back was extremely rude. I asked her what the mileage driven was and she said whatever it says on the paper, I informed her I can't find it and she said well it's on there ma'am. I' said im sorry im not trying to be difficult I'd just like to know the mileage for future reference. She took the paper out of my hand so quick and was clearly extremely annoyed with me. She also had a hard time finding the mileage in the receipt! When I was there checking in the gentleman who was assisting me asked her to bring the van around and she flat out said no. He said ok I'll do it and only then she got up to drive the van around for us. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL overall.

My reservation that was made a week in advance was changed the day before to a location 15 miles away when my original was a block, then I rescheduled to another place and the drop off location was changed 2 times and was very frustrating! Truck didn't run well either. Bad experience

I rated this location as average because although the experience was generally good, I really felt that as far as the associates working there were concerned they were indifferent towards customers, and in fact customer, rather renting or returning were really just an inconvenience to their day, honestly felt like I do when using an automated kiosk, and I had to ask multiple times for someone to help me.

Lied to me about how much gas it had and never told me it had a dent or damaged bumper, so I had to go bavk in and tell them myself before driving the U-Haul. They charged me $122 for I don’t know why!!!! I want a refund.

There could be some improvement in cleanliness of the rentals. Recently, one of the vehicles seats were covered in dog hair and on another recent rental we had to come home and clean the windshield to see clearly.

Stock a trailer that is designed for UTV'S and ATV'S. You would be able to rent them in this part of the country. I had to rent a large trailer used to haul materials to transport my Polaris Ranger.

No elevator at U-Haul Moving & Storage Of El Cajon. Lock Latches of my unit was uneven, spent 20 minutes trying to put the lock on latches of the unit door. Staff member had to use a drill to enlarge the diameter of one latch, so it could work. Storage building is like a maze, hard to find your unit. I spent 2hrs there for 15 mins job - 5 boxes to be put in to the unit. I got very frustrated with the whole situation. Someone was trying to break into a unit- it turned out to be theirs, as they lost keys. My overall experience at this storage was not good. One Staff member was very nice and helpful tough. (that is why 3 stars otherwise would have been - star).

New truck with just under 10 000 miles, extremely beat up, dirty interior. Had some road noise while driving. The trailer hookups were excellent, the trailer tires were all messed up. The two front tires were at pressure at 40 PSI, the back left tire was roughly 20 PSI, and the back right tire was at 70 PSI with a chewed up rim. If i didn't verify the tire pressure before leaving the location, one of the tires would have failed. For the location, great staff, but the front section seems under staffed at times.

My whole experience with U-haul was great. I am so so pleased with everything. I've moved across country several times and using U-boxes was by far the easiest move and everything arrived in perfect condition. I highly recommend them, whether moving across country or across town.

Anticipating that Saturday morning would be busy with people getting trucks or moving services and have more employees working. I waited almost an hour to be helped and there were only 4 people ahead of me. Extra employees didn't come in until 10:30 even though there were several people there much earlier than that.

She located a great unit and supplies and boxes we needed to,make our move complete & successful & stress-free. U-Haul at that location shall be clearly smart to promote Priscilla to General Manager

My reservation was transferred here w/o ANY notice. It caused us to be late for our pick up and affected the distance for driving. Fortunately, the young man that helped us added miles and extended the drop off time to 2:30 pm

OK, I'm completely not what I was expecting to pay. It was supposed to be close to 30 $40 and it was over $100. I returned it in time. I returned it with the right amount of gas. I asked for explanation was not.

The owner and her employees were very professional & courteous. Even when dealing with some less than pleasant customers and situations which are out of their control….the weather, computer systems running slow, walk-in customers expecting the exact rental item that may not be available.

System went down frequently during the checkin process and was given a vehicle that did not have any gas. On the upside, was given a credit for gas that was unused after fueling and there plenty of vehicles available.

The agent who checked us in (had a name tag indicating she was an owner) was rude. I have indicated to your company many times that I detest text messages but this agent insisted that she text me a "link" to download my driver's license photo instead of her just taking a photo of it like other U-Haul facilities have done. When I mentioned that to her, she told me I could go back to the last place I had rented from if I didn't like her methods. Not an appropriate answer. Very unwelcoming. Very rude. Poor customer service.

The truck was dirty, it needed wiper fluid, it pulled to the right a lot, and it needed air in the right side tire, and after we put air in it, it still said it needed air. I think there should be some sort of adjustment to my account.

Access to unit end at 10pm. There are no elevators to load items on the upstairs levels so people are limited on what can be stored in upstairs units. All you have is a stair ladder to climb up with boxes for the upstairs units. They put away loading carts at 7pm despite the access to unit being open until 10pm so even though you get in there are no carts available to use to load faster. Price board at the counter only displays upstairs unit lower prices and does not show that price is higher for bottom units. entrance into store shows prices but at first glance it does not make it clear that prices are different for top and bottom units. All prices should be displayed at the counter where you pay so it's more obvious what you are paying for. The guy working the computer forgot to say prices are different for bottom units when providing info on storage options.

The cargo van I rented smelled of cigarette smoke. I'm surprised it was even given to me. I was running late or I would have exchanged it for a different one.

First time using your facial ,license,picture link provided by employee. I tried several times to no avail. Very rude employee advised me that it was taking way to long and I'll do it . This is not what I would expect from your employee. A little more help should of been provided.

I love this place from the guys and ladies in the office to the guys in the yard. I recommend this guys to everyone! Their prices are pretty good too!

This staff has been working an operation to steal from units whom can't afford insurance. The manager smiled as she let me know there was nothing she could do, meanwhile neighboring unit was stealing my things, as she knew. The lack of customer service and attitude the site manager Pricilla gives is horrible, May God have mercy on her for all the wrong doing that's being done here at this location.

My only issue with this place was the access cards sometimes would not open the doors. The sliding door was stuck a few times and had to use the man door. We still had access to the place. The inside is a very nice temperature and makes one comfortable with storing sensitive materials. If I had to store again, I would use this place again.

We had a wonderful experience with U-Haul of El Cajon. They workers put up with a lot and still have great attitudes. They all were very professional and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

They charged me extra for a broken headlight that I did not break, and I returned the uhaul truck and got a paper receipt after inspection for $90 initially then later that night got charged $300 after closing hours with no explanation. Never use uhaul again

The staff was very unprofessional, talking about inappropriate things in front of customers. While checking me back in after returning the van, the internet was acting up and he kept making unprofessional comments such as "stupid internet" or "this smart phone isn't very smart" also while sitting in the van checking the miles, he had the door open and the beeping noise for the open door was going off and he yelled out "shut up" just overall very very unprofessional.

Facility was dirty and while the community drop-off/donation spot is a nice idea, it was not working for this location. I canceled my storage rental and never even opened the unit offered.

There were roaches in my storage unit and when I complained. They said they call the next day so I can come down for the bug guy to spray my storage and they never did

Questions 4&5: I hope the unit was clean? I wasn't able to enter the building with my access code - I got an error at multiple doors. The bigger problem is that the loading area was not secure, there was almost no parking on site, and there were folks loitering in the parking lot. I wouldn't feel comfortable using this facility by myself or at night, and cancelled my contract. Phillip was very helpful over the phone. I will not be recommending this location.

I ve rented from numerous storage facilities throughout the years. The U Haul location that I now store my belongings , is patient , user friendly and pricing. Very understanding. Most people that are in need of what they renting are in need of what they are selling and my not have the money or time to help, they are not out to present another problem by over charging on their pricing. For the price I am satisfied with the Storage Rental the Free Locks deal is a nice extra the Access Hours are better than I expected. The Storage Unit quality is a little under my expectations so I'm rating 4 Stars instead of 5.

I stopped renting from this unit and the employees let someone else keep renting the unit after I told them that I WILL not be needing the UNIT ANYMORE. YET they let someone RENT IT AFTER I TOLD THEM I am bit renting anymore and they are CHARGING ME for their MISTAKES.. WTF. B.S.

My unit was robbed as well as several others. They cut open the top of my unit and walked and took what they wanted. I mean where was the staff??? Why did no one see this on camera?People are living in there units. Hanging out in the unit all day. Then sleep there at night. They bathe in the bathrooms. The place is horrible

All good, but on day of 1st access, one card didn't work: 2 attempts made in office to authorize new card before it was successful. Also, no carts available for us to transport items from car. Finally, a homeless person is evidently renting a unit to live in, suggessted by a bicycle with a loaded cart on back and an open door with clothes hanging and a light inside but clear that the person was making an effort to stay quiet. This was on Thanksgiving Day.

There were homeless people all around the storage area. Several were inside the space where storage "lockers" were. One man was clearly taking a bath/changing clothes on one of the stair cases used for getting up to lockers. There was no way for me to access the unit let alone feel as though it was safe for me to even use the lockers. I felt like it was interesting that not only 5 minutes after close did it become basically a homeless village. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I was disappointed that there were no carts to move my items in from the outside, all the way to my unit, inside and far from the entrance. Although they did let me borrow a dolly, that really sucked. The place was clean and well maintained minus the missing carts.

I wish the web site was more clear that a second story unit is accessible by rolling staircase only. I assumed it was on the second floor of a building with an elevator.

Storage is clean. Some of the staff our friendly. But when i called to reserve a 10" foot truck and auto transport she's over chanrging me. For the equipment rent shes charging me for almost $800 one way. But when i called the uhaul office they only charge me for $514 for everything. I got lots of experience at uhaul offices in just one day. 3 different locations. The uhaul main office when she called me she asked me why they over charging me. I dont have answers to give her but then i cancelled those reservation that is overcharging me.

The staff at the El Cajon Main Street location were so kind and helpful; they treated me as if I were their own grandmother. I felt very well taken care of. The staff was knowledgeable, creative in problem solving, and generous with their time and efforts. Thank you El Cajon staff!!

the storage rooms are not lit and there is no electricity in them But I understand you have reasons for doing that I had a few problems with access card as it stopped working But I guess the cause was my cell phone or some other demagnetizing source. Overall a great experience and great to be close to the best sourse of rental trucks!!! thank you

AWESOME storage and customer service. Just wouldn't recommend, because if the area. Those sleeping outside, homelessness and those trying to get inside. Due to the homelessness and since it's not gated, I decided to leave to another place like Public Storage. You have amazing prices and good storage customer service, Just not as safe for customers at this location. My wife could not come by after work or when it gets closer to the evening. Even during the day there were homeless people in the area trying to get into the place without a key when the doors slide open.

I honestly dreaded the whole part of getting it set up and all the admin fun. I was literally pleasantly surprised at how quick it went and the customer service provided. My expectations were exceeded tremendously. I have been in other facilities and it felt like the pain of going to the DMV. Not here. A great helpful staff that honestly made this as painless as possible. Great team.

I am so grateful to UHaul (El Cajon, CA). During the pandemic I was without work and thought I had lost everything in my storage due to not being able to pay the monthly fee. I got so behind that I just assumed my things were already auctioned off. Instead, we were offered the deal of a lifetime, pay $100 and we could empty our storage. I was almost $900 in the hole and they just wrote the rest off. I couldn't believe it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

It was super easy to access our pods. The only reason for the average rating is because one of the pods' lock broke and it was obvious that it opened up and stuff had to be put back inside.

The door was open to walk in almost every time I went to my unit. The equipment I had to use to access my unit was in poor condition, stairs would barely lock down. Rats & bugs. I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE.
