The trailer was advertised as 74 inches wide, but its around 68 inches wide at the gate. Couldnt use it. Not only did it waste half a day, I couldnt finish the job I was doing and had to refund the customer.

Conditions were great. convenient. etc. many carts available. clean. staff was average. not bad , but not great. When the manager that was there when we first rented the unit , Ty was there; much better customer service. Personal care and compassion. Not now. We needed help getting in our unit as we had lost our key to the disc lock that we were made to put on the unit. They offered no help or assistance when we asked; even for a fee which we would have gladly paid. We were told " sorry we don't do that". Disappointing for the price people pay for monthly storage.

When we rented the truck in the beginning they sent us to the wrong facility. When we called they said there were not any trucks available so we were in a very bad spot. Then we received a call and they found a truck for us and everything went very smooth from there. When we got to the storage facility they were even better. The guys there went above and beyond to help us. Everyone we dealt with was awesome!!

Oh boy, where do I start? First, the truck smelled like a cheap cigar, obviously from the employee who supposedly cleaned it smoking while working. Unfortunately it got a million times worse from there! The back of the truck had a padlock on it. I've rented from U-Haul many, MANY times, maybe 10 times in the past year alone, and maybe 50 times in my life. I have never seen a padlock on the truck, and did not realize there is a key on the keyring besides the ignition key. I approach the employee, who was initially friendly and courteous. I tell him the back is locked. I say an expletive during this exchange, because I am in a major hurry and this has cost me time. He asks me if I can stop cussing. I decline. From there he then calls me a "white retard," a "stupid motherfucker," and many other profane names I cannot remember. Classy stuff, U-Haul, classy stuff. This man not only needs to be fired, but he should never again in his entire life have a job that might involve customer contact. This guy is trash. Also, the truck barely had any gas in it, which is the second time in a row I have had to first stop at a gas station before even using the truck. Absolutely horrendous experience all around. I don't know the employee's name, but he was a tall black man with dreads. At no point did I bring up his race, why would I, so why would he bring up mine? This man clearly wanted for me to be a racist to justify his piss poor work. I get it, there are a lot of racist garbage people out there, but I am damn sure not one of them. You just suck at your job, and this better have been your last day.

The truck was completely disgusting. The cab was dirty and the back was an absolute disaster. We had to sweep out pine cones and leaves out of the back and tried to get most of the dirt that was left in it as well. It was raining when we had to load our furniture into the truck. The dirt turned to mud and we had to line the floor with our lien sheets and blankets. This truck was obviously never looked at when it was turned in and then given to me. Unacceptable and awful.

They had to delay the hitch by a few hours to accommodate a more time consuming job. No big deal, but I did have to adjust my schedule a little. Other than that everything was great!

Personnel did not assist in removing trailer nor did they check me in upon arrival despite there being no other customers present and multiple uhaul personnel. Rather, they asked if an emailed receipt was okay and said they would get to it in about 10 minutes. I called after about 30-40 minutes because I had still not received it and was informed they would be getting to it soon. I did receive the email receipt over 5 hours after I called.

I was overcharged for fuel upon return of the vehicle. The fuel level upon return was as much or more than was required. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars with U-Haul over the years and don't appreciate the attempt to ding me for an extra $10.

The reason for the 4 star rating: I had an 11:00 AM apt. and was only promised that the job would be done before closing. There was no waiting area, and I didn't have a ride or the money for a cab. It took over 4 hours , although it was a simple trailer light harness installation, and I was told I was second in line. Everything else was good.

Rear tires on GMC cargo van were bald! Thankfully I didn't drive the van in the rain. Bald tires are a safety hazard. Vehicle was clean, but worn out rear tires entirely unacceptable

The main reason this facility is what it is, is because the manager Valerie Lytle has been hands on and available whenever I've had any issues or concerns. It was a pleasure dealing with someone who actually cares about the service to her customers. Also JR was always ready to assist in any way that would make my visits as easy as possible. Once the UHaul boxes were transferred to the new facility, the warehouse manager was on point with having my box down when I needed to get into it. Great location and great staff!

My U-Haul stalled out an inch away from oncoming traffic on a major road. When I talked to the company (on Sweeten Creek rd), they didn't offer to refund me for renting me an "older model that [they] are probably going to take out of rotation now." And for having to unload a 15ft U-Haul now in the dark by myself in Asheville which is sketchy as hell. This company sucks. My experience with U-Haul's roadside assistance operator Cassauandra was a very calming and reassuring experience however, so kudos to the U-Haul team for that. I had trouble with the app though so I called her directly. The app wouldn't let me upload photos without freezing. I took a screenshot of everything. Multiple screenshots - bc I didn't want to be charged for any mechanical failures that occurred.

Morgan in Asheville was great. The overall Uhaul experience was quite messy with me having to fix issues and spend a couple hours on the phone. There were multiple errors in how various Uhaul employees worked on my order. The Uhaul electronic system sounds complicated and not terribly efficient. Multiple Uhaul employees said they would do something and then didn't. Chris at the Waco Uhaul was great. Nikki Bas never returned my call. Overall, I'd caution others that the whole process is messy but there were pockets of good, the transport/delivery went ok, and it's a reasonable cost (vs a moving company). Also, only 1 broken item.

The tire pressures on both back tires were very low when we picked up the vehicle. Cold tire pressure on this particular van (for the back tires) is recommended at 75psi. They were 51 and 54. When asked if someone could help us before we took the van off the lot, they said there was nothing they could do. "Their air pressure machine had been vandalized". There was zero customer service to help resolve this issue. Also, just FYI....The after hours link to check the vehicle back in upon return did not work. I left a note on the dashboard.

Senior Caucasian Female Staff Name started with D, was rude towards me. I was not informed about the climate control facility being broke for the entire time I rented the unit but was required to pay for a service that was not provided. The storage fee should have been adjusted accordingly.

While trying to remove my items from the storage unit they had a bunch of U-Haul trucks parked down in front of the units so we had to go between trucks carrying stuff out to our trailer and car instead of being able to back down to our outside unit.

When reserving a storage unit, the dispatch office stated a 10'x10' unit was available. When arriving at the storage facility, two 5'x10' units were actually available. This needs to be explained by dispatch when explaining the availability to customer.

There were issues with the payment process. At least 5 times I paid and later was locked out. Had to process my card a second time. Was under the impression I was charged twice. Recently, the district manager discovered the issue. The clerks were not completing the charge process. They were not saving the charge to complete the payments. My issue was how the managers and clerks would not try and investigate and solve the problem. This went on for months.

Moving from out of state. Reserved a specific size unit for what we needed and what we could afford. Received a confirmation of the reservation showing unit size and cost. Upon arrival we were notified that the unit was not available but we could get a more expensive unit. Showed my confirmation of the reserved unit and was told there was nothing they could do. Ultimately we had to take the more expensive unit because we had to unload our belongings. We were never informed during the online reservation that the units are basically a wait list. We we told this by the GM on the phone as we were waiting. This in our opinion is poor business practice. On a positive note, your employee, Jeff, was outstanding! He helped in every way he possibly could to accommodate our needs. He went above and beyond. He is the type of employee that we don't see much of these days and should be commended for his hard work and positive demeanor.

The staff who helped to secure the unit was poorly trained and there wasn't anyone to assist for long periods of time. Took almost 2 hours to rent the unit and my payment information was not entered into the system resulting in the unit being locked out while I was out of town. Simple fix, if you don't have time to train them, then give them a step by step user guide for the system.

The staff at facility on site and dispatch were all helpful and kind and easy to communicate with. There is no dispute or anger only happy reviews from us we just want to note one thing in our experience and hope that communication can be improved between dispatch and what is actually available at the physical locations. The only point of improvement we wished to see was that dispatch communicated with us that we would be receiving one 10x10 storage space that was actually two 5x10's which made storage difficult for our larger furniture. So it was not what we were told we would be receiving

Let me start by first saying the U-Haul facility in itself is excellent, the staff are amazing and very friendly. The storage facility itself is not very well climate maintained, there are rat traps in them and one in my unit which was not very desirable but it was only option at the time. The night we moved out a garage door was stuck open which anyone could have walked in. Outside units were left open one of which had things inside of, and one was empty. I would recommend this U-Haul location to anyone looking to rent equipment but not for self storage.

I was told that I had 48 hours to change my lock to a round one and when I called they said that they had already changed the lock and that I had to get a key from the front desk. This was not true but still was told that I had to purchase a round lock when I arrived. I had so many issues that I will never go back to that specific location and possibly uhual ever again. Moved my stuff out of storage before my time was even up!

I had arranged for a large unit to be rented when I moved. Ended up being in two separate units. When I reserved my truck to move out of storage it wasn't available; I was told that I would have to go to another facility 30 minutes away to get one. When I came back to empty the 2nd unit they put me in, I wasn't in their system and they had put a lock on my door and someone else had rented it out but hadn't moved into it yet. Very unorganized.

My UHaul experience was a disaster. After a 9 hour drive with trailer, I arrived at Swannanoa River Road location to return trailer and had reserved an 8 x 10 storage locker. The man at the desk informed me he thought the one unit they had was broken. He went out and inspected and said "Yeah. It's broken. Let me see if they have one at another location." Sweeten Creek had a unit for more money. The man at Swannanoa River Road could not have cared less about the inconvenience this made for me. I chose Swannanoa River location because that is closest to my apartment. I had to drive another 45 minutes BACK FROM WHERE I WAS to get to Sweeten Creek because of traffic. My bad experience was at Swannanoa River location. However, I had to give Dion at Sweeten Creek all my information over again as if I was not in the UHaul system. Dion was helpful and understood how frustrated, tired and angry I was at being turned away after I had a reservation. BAD EXPERIENCE.

This establishment is top notch! Everything is clean organized so well put together. I inquired with another U-Haul establishment locally, and there was simply no comparison between the two. Love these people! Very grateful to have such a nice local facility with kind staff/management. Super clean & well maintained. I did end up with some moisture collecting in a few boxes that had books. I believe it was condensation from weather on the industrial building, so be aware of storing paper materials. Maybe a neighbor spilled. I'm not sure. Otherwise: quick, efficient, kind & helpful.

I wanted to redeem my free month rent on a storage unit for renting a one way truck months ago. I went in and was given options. The gal seemed nice but a little aloof. She shared with me she was leaving the company and complained about her co-workers. She asked me for my phone number but told me it wasn't in the system but then found it. She asked me for a photo of my ID and texted me the link but it was already in the system. She took me to my unit but it was filled with stuff. She again complained about her coworkers. She found me a vacant unit thru an app on her phone and when she went to open it, a loud alarm went off. I'm sure that she knew that would happen so a heads up would have been appropriate as it was loud and I was startled and a little annoyed at the amount of mis-steps I was experiencing. She did not tell me the hours of access which are also not listed online so I had to call to find out. Upon leaving, I stopped into the storage areas restroom to wash my hands and the soap dispenser was missing the part where you push to get soap out. That means people have to fumble around to make it work, contaminating the soap dispensers inner workings with their dirty hands. Come on Uhaul, you can do better. Not sure if this is standard, but an employee had hosed off his car in the front of the building. The gal helping me whined to the guy that she wanted her car washed bec/ it had been 4 years which made me wonder what the inside of her car must be like. I also learned that I can't get another month free of storage after I rent another truck in the coming weeks. She tried to explain it to me but she started talking about a nearby Uhaul location but referred to it as Sweeten Creek which I thought was the location I was at which made me question if I was at the location I initially wanted to store things at. I was at Sweeten Creek so I'm not sure what she was talking about but I'm disappointed to hear that if I rent one way trucks two different times, I only get one month free of storage and that you offer to first month free to people who don't rent trucks. Most places do but if I knew that with what I know now, I would have searched other storage company options. I usually don't leave reviews but since I received both and email and text message from Uhaul, I thought I should. Not trying to sound like a Karen but Uhaul asked…TWICE so here you go

Our storage was flooded, and we were not notified. When we moved our belongings out of storage it was then we discovered wet belongings. Fortunately, nothing was permanently damaged, but we called and told them our stuff got wet. They have drainage issues at this location and I would not recommend for that reason.

I could not access the building to move in at 7PM. I called the manager and got a voicemail. Then I texted the number but she responded that she was on leave. I then had to ask her for the backup contact, she did not initially supply the information. Thankfully Steve was immensely helpful and figured out that our access was for "store hours only." Once he fixed this we could enter the building but the sliding doors were locked. We had to move mattresses and a couch through the man door. Overall it was very inconvenient but would have been much worse without Steve!

2 staff workers called the police on my wife for voicing her opinion about the service and conflicting employee understanding of a policy as we were told. The two employees were very disrespectful and started taping us with their phones and refused to finish offering service. At that time we were told we were trespassing pointed towards my wife. Though we have rented units, trucks and bought packing equipment from u-haul, we will never use u-haul for anything again. We waited for the police to arrive (while being told we were trespassing as we waited by the two staff members). We appreciate the Asheville Police Officers service and seeing the silliness of the incident. With increased crime in this area such an inappropriate use of the Officers service. Everything was excellent. The only part I don't like is that U-haul does not prorate the bill. I no longer needed my unit, as I rented a larger unit elsewhere and combined my things. I had three weeks left before my next bill was due, and now someone else can rent it free for thirty days. U-haul's 30-day rent-free policy is misleading in some cases like mine. I already paid full rent and 3/4 was remaining. I should be refunded ~ $96,75 and U-haul should let the new customer rent for 30 days free, as per the policy and not on my dime.

We did cross country move and first moving place we had selected did not tell the truth about 18 wheeler huge atlas van lines fitting on property. They drove by your place on sweeten....it was a great alternative. Probably better and safer then the original choice. The truck had issues and had a gas issue. It cost me over $1 100 in gas to drive 3200 miles in a 20ft truck which is completely unheard of. I have made this trip several times and NEVER had the issues I had this time. Pick up staff didn't care about the truck and it's gas (and break) issues and hung up on me. The staff here, though they couldn't do anything to change what happened on the west coast, were very sincere and very kind. Their storage units are clean and climate controlled and VERY secure. I would definitely recommend this location for both storage and moving. Thank you for making the end of my trip stress free!

The only negative was the storage center closed at 7:00 pm. There were two times minimum that I needed something out of storage after 7:00 pm. On the first of those instances, I drove to the storage unit, having not realized it closed at 7 PM.

It would be helpful to have a place to throw away trash on site. I would have been willing to pay to be able to do that. There are so many trucks that it is hard to get in and out sometimes and I don't always understand why they park things where they do - in driveway of garages, etc. All in all - good experience.

The representative on duty was extremely patient and helpful during my visit. Though I arrived close to closing time and she was the only one on duty, she took her time explaining things to me, answering my questions, and showing me how to access my storage unit. Rana and her team have been great since day one. Always accommodating and helpful and always a pleasure to deal with. I had a storage unit here for 20 months with zero issues and always always helpful staff were on hand should I need it. I also rented a truck 4 times from them and no problems there either. I wish there was somewhere to leave recycling (cardboard and paper) without a charge to me but I would still highly recommend this facility to anyone.

The cost per storage room is extremely high. The cost of the unit should include basic insurance coverage, it is unreasonable to require additional insurance be purchased. It is also unreasonable to enforce a specific type of lock that has to be bought at the uhaul facility.
