I was not happy with the fact that the truck does not come fuelled and ready to use I had to buy gas immediately after leaving the u haul yard as the low fuel warning appeared only a few blocks away from the yard I think it would be better if the truck was full of fuel to start the move as all of my help had to wait for me to stop and get gas

LEON FThe 10 foot truck used the same amount of fuel as a 26 foot I had rented before. For the same trip. It felt like the transmission was on 2nd gear. At highway speed 100km, the fuel mileage indicator remained in the red zone-poor. When I pressed the brakes to exit, the steering pulled to the left. I had a very light load of plastic skids, so weight was not an issue.

Amy LHi...overall I really liked the facility. It was clean, well-lit, and secure; there were a few issues with other customer's actions, but that is a reality of life. The staff were either awesome or poor, depending on who we dealt with. I would rate the availability of carts a D- (fail); there were rarely any carts in the coral near my locker; and even when the facility was not busy carts were scarce or I had to walk what felt like half a km to find one. Ugh! When I handed in the key yesterday, they said ok, and they would email me a receipt but I am yet to get one. Overall, I enjoyed this Uhaul location and it met my needs.

The only issue at this huge indoor storage facility is the other customers (haha but seriously) not having spacial awareness with their own vehicle & parking in such a way that no one can get by while you're loading is a special kinda lack in common courtesy. Anyways the staff rocks & the facility is clean, organized, & safe so 10/10 highly recommend the Uhaul on Walker in Windsor for all your storage & moving needs.

The only problem I had was I was ensured that my unit would be closed and I would no longer be charged by two different employees once I gave the key fob back. However, no one ever closed the unit and I was charged after returning the garage door/key fob. I tried contacting after hours online but they could not help me. I had to wait until the following day to contact someone where I was put on hold for 20 minutes. Once I was able to speak with someone the problem was fixed , account closed and I was refunded my money. I am grateful it was resolved quite easily but still upset the situation occurred as it was stressful to deal with.

David TSo the staff were pretty great at this location, and the inventory of boxes/moving packing supplies was great lots of selection. The only thing I would like to comment on, is that the day before my move not even 12 hours before I received a phone call saying that the trailer I had rented to tow my vehicle with behind the truck that I'd also rented from U-Haul was not going to know all of a sudden be available for my move the following morning and that I would have to figure out a way to get to the nearest location 45 minutes away(50km) somehow to obtain the trailer and bring it all the way back to Windsor prior to my move 7 am Friday. This was very frustrating because I am a solo female, moving completely alone. Hence why I put everything in place ahead of time to have a truck and trailer readily available at one location as moving is stressful as it is and I had diligently reserved everything in advance to try and mitigate any potential issues. The person I spoke to on the phone essentially tried to just tell me exactly what to do without really having any compassion in regard for the whole situation and it's totality as well as just automatically assume that I would be able to go pick up the trailer by myself somehow attach it to maybe my vehicle? And then bring it back and not sure if I was going to be compensated for that and the mileage, etc. or whatever due to I guess they miss calculation in regards to the amount of trailers they had at the Windsor location and somehow that was my responsibility/my fault. I hung up the phone in tears because I fell stranded/did not know what to do with little time to figure out a plan. Fortunately, after taking a few hours to think about it and calm down, I went into the U-Haul location and spoke to a wonderful gentleman, named Matt, who helped me out and said that there was actually an employee who was going from U-Haul Windsor to U-Haul Leamington in order to pick up that auto transport trailer I had initially reserved and that it would be here the following morning ready for my move . Thankfully, that was the case and this issue got resolved. However, after loading my truck up Friday morning and returning to the U-Haul location as per their recommendation to load first, and then come back for the trailer, I was told to wait in the parking lot and someone would come out to help me attach the trailer to the UHaul. It is possible that being the first day of the month obviously they are quite busy and it was a Friday, so I understand that as well, However, it appears that this location could potentially use some more staffing and better communication skills with one another/organization as I waited outside for over half an hour and no one came so I had to go back into the store to ask again if someone was coming to help me with the auto trailer. By the time I got out of U-Haul in Windsor, I was already an hour delayed and ended up having to pay my unloaders at my location. I was relocating to an extra hour of pay, due to them waiting for me and the clock starting. 2 Wonderful gentleman at U-Haul ended up finally assisting me with the auto transport hook up to the truck and I was very thankful. The one gentleman mentioned that he was actually scheduled to be on his lunch break, but he came out anyway to help me which leads me to believe that clearly there is not enough staff there or maybe just on that day. There was not enough. I was very thankful for his help as well as Matt's the previous day, I do believe that this whole reservation with U-Haul could've went a lot smoother and that making a reservation online for renting a truck and a trailer. Those items should actually be available in the inventory- or not available to rent online if they physically aren't at that location ( and not left to chance ). This just made things very stressful and unnecessarily so. Otherwise, though, yes, I will use U-Haul again in the future. I just wanted to give my honest opinion on some of the positives, as well as some of the things that would require some work/feedback. Merci

I was charged for a dolly that wasn't provided and an extra $80 after I brought the truck back - stating that I went over mileage, which I did not. The amount of kms on the vehicle at time of rental did not match what was listed on the document and I had a feeling I should take a photo but I didn't bother - now I am being charged double for "mileage" when I only rented the truck for 4 hours. The first time I called to complain about this, the CSR mistakenly hung up on me. When I called back they said they would need a minute to look into it and nobody called me back. It's now been 3 days with no call back. I should have rammed the truck through the window of the facility.

Jim KI think there comes a time when maybe a vehicle should become retired as to not ruin your business. The cab filled with exhaust fumes. Missing passenger seat belt latch. cracked side mirror. the outside of the truck was held together by actual zip ties and duct tape. leaky roof. had some rain which caused a boxes and furniture to become soaked. I have rented trucks from this location a few times with no issue but this time wow.

The staff member outside was great during pick up and drop off and made getting the trailer quick. As well he was there at drop off and took care of the invoice part of it getting sent so I didn't need to go inside since my card was on file.

The inddor nature of the lockers, with climate control, was a great feature and so much nicer than the lockers that are outdoors. The access hours and gate remote worked well for us, and the few times we had staff contact was all good.

MICHELLE C | Expérience généraleThe only problem was finding dollies. At first they were abundant and then they slowly started to disappear until becoming difficult to find without a long walk. Sometimes I would just not bother trying to find one because none were in sight. I suspected many people were keeping them in their storage rental units, or simply stealing them in trucks when moving out. Not your fault. I'm finding in general that many more people than I used to think are simply inconsiderate, self-centred, and dishonest. Sad. No simple solution short of better and monitored video surveillance. Only other thing I can think of that might help is having a barcode (like in stores) that would activate a beeper in the front office when it gets to the exit door. Not an easy thing to manage and risky I guess. Maybe the only way to keep a handle on it is to have them available for use with a deposit. Essentially rent for the hour or few hours. Still not an easy solution, but would at least guarantee availability.

adriana g | Expérience généraleThough the site is well staffed, it's an old factory so it is filthy and bits of the ceiling fall, requiring protection for my vehicle. As far as vehicle storage goes, it was more than adequate. I only used this site for vehicle storage. Since they stopped offering this, I can't recommend it in that capacity. 45 days notice to vacate, while seemingly adequate, is not. No solution was offered within the Uhaul family and to evict all vehicles without some recourse, even temporary outdoor storage, is not satisfactory. Locating appropriate storage is not a simple matter and indoor storage is a premium service that is not easily found. This is not a dispute as the service was good and as advertised. The eviction, however, was poorly handled and clearly made to increase profit from the site.

Accessing the building/leaving the building is a terrible set up. Having to swipe twice, hit an open button then get back in the car in time with mobility issues is not easy and many times another vehicle was waiting to enter/exit.

The Second Lady weekend of the month I emptied a bunch of boxes that were on the ground. Thankfully I did. Went back the following weekend and found water in the unit on the bottom of some of my things. And large water marks right where those boxes were the weekend prior. I checked the back of the unit on the outside and there was water coming in from your roof. And I know you knew about it because of the Uhaul blankets surrounding the whole back of all the units in that block, that were not there the weekend before. Accidents happen, but the fact no one called me to let me know to come check my unit. I had to tell you guys about the water in my unit. The belongings in my unit were those of my deceased brother. Irreplaceable things. Most were unaffected, a couple I'm still drying out. The fact you knew of the leak and didn't reach out is unacceptable. My brother rented his unit for 5years, at a Uhaul storage in Detroit. Never an issue. I rent one for two months, and barely survive a disaster
Thomas G | Expérience généraleThe only comment i have is that when I got the moving truck they assigned me, the has was at a quarter tank. The digital read was that I had 53 miles until I would run out of gas. Luckily I was only going from the Walker Road facility to Howard just before Giles and then to Seneca St. And then back to the facility on Walker. Lol. I was able to put in 40 and bring it up to a quarter of a tank. Well a smidgen more really. My point being if I had to drive to more then 53 miles to get to where I am moving from. I would have to put in gas before moving. Not everyone can guess how much gas they are going to need. Most people are on budgets. Plus it is very expensive to move as it is. Thanks!

My mother was unable to afford her monthly rental payments for the unit I rented for her. However this staff at this particular facility went above and beyond in service and customer care to insure that we were able to recover her stored items. I will only be using this facility be it truck or storage rentals because of the high quality customer service we received even though we were not a "run of the mill," case for the staff. Guy L | Expérience généraleFrom the beginning I had trouble with UHaul. Moving from Woodstock to Windsor I reserved a 26' truck which ended up a 20' truck. The flowing weekend I had to go to Woodstock for the rest of my items because of UHauls mess up. Storage was less than adequate. Staff was very helpful and friendly but the facility was climate controlled or so I was told. That was not true and when my items where placed in the locker there was nothing wrong with them. When I took them out of UHaul storage some items had mold in them and smelled because of stagnant air. I did ask for the tarp on one of my lockers to be taken off but it was not. Lisa Hanna

We moved from Calgary yesterday to Windsor only to find out our place was covered in mould and were forced to find storage. I forget his name but He is the one that helped us gain access to two storage units, went above and beyond to walk us through everything and help us. I hope you can find out which employee he is because he deserves a raise he will be the reason I recommend uhaul to everybody, that is the kind of people you want running your company. On moving in the facility was out of the locks they use on the the lockers, so I had to buy a non-conforming lock. They did put a conforming lock on when they came in. I would have appreciated notice that I had to stop and pick up keys at the office before arriving at my locker. I have mobility issues, and it would have saved me some time and a lot of walking and standing. Also, the time cost me extra, as I was paying a guy to help load the stuff in the locker. When I went to return the keys, the office was closed so I had to return another day to do so. They young lady and gentleman that were working upon my return were very polite, caring and a major asset to your company. They were the best people I dealt with my whole move! I wish they had handled everything for my move! I'm sure it would have gone a lot smoother! UHaul needs people like them to be the face of their company. Perhaps they should be training others. Yes, I was very impressed by them especially after having a very bad experience with my truck rental from another location.

It wasn't, and when I went to the office, I was told they didn't have any! I ended up purchasing a lock type that isn't allowed, and was told they would let me know when the correct type come in. Does this mean I have to purchase another lock? I also wish there was staff within the storage area? To have trucks that were already unloaded told to move out of the way of others. I was delayed over 2 hours because an empty truck blocked access to my storage area. I was paying movers by the hour! Cost me a lot of extra money! Even after I figured out who needed to move the truck, their few minutes was almost 95!

I explained to the lady that I was there only to pick up a dollie. She then asked for names and numbers of contacts. I couldn't understand why it was taking so long. After all the questions and the information entered into the computer I find out she just rented me a storage unit. On Sep 25, I receive an email from U-Haul informing me of my upcoming payment on the storage unit that I never rented. I called and talked to the same woman who had made the mistake and she said that she has difficulty hearing at work due to wearing masks and being behind glass. She then told me that she had just removed my email and information from the computer. I have my doubts about this as she never removed my information to begin with when I had been there on Sep 1. I will never again do business with U-Haul. If I am to receive another email stating that my payment on a storage locker is due and/or that the payment will be processed using my credit card I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau.

We called the U-Haul after hours and she said we have the truck till 2 45 do I hope I can find help to unload it now. I have never been so unhappy with u haul in my life. I drove 19 miles that vehicle gets about 12 mpg. Gas is $5 a gallon my math says I used 1,5 gallons. So my fuel charging should be about $8. I paid $15.

The storage facility was very clean, secure and well lit, the staff were friendly, helpful and they responded quickly if I had any question. I was very happy, I had a great experience. I would highly recommend this U-Haul storage facility to anyone.

They were remarkable and we wouldn't hesitate to use Uhaul again because of these two young men. They made everything effortless. Thank you! We did have to replace a faulty windshield wiper blade on the road but Canadian Tire in Sault St. Marie solved the problem.

Mice were running around the unit. One jumped out of the box and we found dead mice inside of boxes. Everything should have been thrown out. We had to go nox by box outside once home and wash and disinfect everything. As well we had to shampoo furniture. It was disgusting to say the least. Many boxes went directly into the garbage. I could see there may be some mouse droppings as you cant control what people put in the units but this was beyond ridiculous!

Regardless of the insurance on my unit, the owner could have provided that there were certificates pertaining to internal structural integrity after the repair contracts were completed. I understood that the repairs were properly completed. I did not pursue the matter any further. The overall experience during the rental of the unit was otherwise very good.
