The price of storage increased 3 times in the last year! Nice facility but could not afford or justify paying over $2k for items I'm not using! With an unknown and unpredictable economy, need to save money where I can.
Cynthia W | Expérience généraleEd (Ramirez?), the owner was wonderful and did his very best to meet my needs. I had called to order a hitch to be installed and it was shipped to the location. The hitch was sent without a quick connect to make the lights work on the trailer I had reserved. He informed me that he could splice into the electrical line of the car but that the process would void the car warranty. The car is brand new with only 3000 miles on it, and so I appreciated the fact that he informed me of this problem, so I could make the decision to forego the installation. He then reserved me a 10' truck and quoted me the price, and when he went to confirm the equipment, only a 15' was available. He price-matched the quote for me. The following day, when I went to pick up the truck, the price had reverted to the full price. Ed made the situation right. He was patient, kind and as accommodating as he was able to. The staff here is mostly nice though, and although I do not live in the state, I would recommend them - but would suggest calling to confirm everything multiple times - seems several other customers ran into scheduling/reservation issues.
DINA WBeen going to this place for years renting equipment. They're always busy and they always treat you like you're the only customer I wouldn't go anywhere else. It's absolutely perfect even one time I did not have my receiver hitch and they offer To loan one to me……..

Customer service should be PRIORITY, even if the rest of Las Cruces seems to have forgotten this, be a place that steps it up please!

ABRAHAM HThere should be an easier way to reserve a vehicle with less hassle. 2 extra phone numbers plus proof of current residence dosent make sense if someone is moving cities to a new location and has no bills yet. Having a system to base rental off of credit score will prove individual reliability without the additional hassle.
DAVID DI would have given them an excellent if it were not for the meddling from the higher ups. We rented on-line - the process was extensive BUT for one major oversight. This location requires proof of residency to rent the vehicle. The site does not tell the renter this to us while we are on-line. Instead they send a text that we received when we were 5 minutes away. Tried to comply at the rental counter but were unable and had to turn around and drive back home to get a copy of our electrical bill. There was another couple at the counter experiencing the same issue. There may or may not be a valid reason for this requirement - that is not my point. My point in this day and age of all sorts of AI why not put the requirement squarely on the website and eliminate the confusion and frustration? The location handled it the best they could - not well - but the issue resides at a paygrade way above those working the rental counter.

The only option provided was a 26-foot truck, which I had to accept due to lack of alternatives. This larger truck has caused significant inconvenience. Its size made parking challenging, and it consumed far more fuel than necessary, resulting in additional costs and stress that could have been avoided if the reserved truck had been available. When I make a reservation, I expect the equipment to be available at the agreed-upon time and location. Otherwise, the reservation loses its value and jeopardizes my plans. I believe this situation reflects poorly on the reliability of U-Haul services

ROBERT MI've been renting from this location for years. We all joke around and have fun. It's like renting from family. They all know what they're doing and they take care of business very quickly. It's an A+ place to deal with. I would never go anywhere else.
JOHNNY KThe store personnel were nice, but I do wish they would have gone over some things with me, like how to attach the trailer, and the need to have it attached before loading it. The U-Haul advertised moving crew started loading the trailer while it was down the street while the truck was in the driveway, despite being told to let me know when they were ready to start loading the trailer. When I realized they were doing this, I wondered it would be a problem, but figured they knew what they were doing. Then it was impossible to lift the trailer nose to put on the hitch. I had to borrow an 8-ton floor jack from a local mechanic. There is no place to rate the quality of the equipment, so I'm going to do that here. The 12' trailer was fine. The 26' truck was mediocre. The shocks were not very good. The cab could be updated substantially. Today, most vehicles have Bluetooth connection, but if not, almost all vehicles at least have a USB connection to the radio. The cab is so noisy driving that it's impossible to hear a small speaker from a phone. So to listen to music or a podcast, one needs to be able to hook into the truck's radio. They do have a mini-jack port, but most phones don't have mini-jack outputs these days. Note that there is a 75 MPH governor on the truck. That's fine except when you need to pass someone in 80 MPH zone. Also, the round locks that they sell in the store wouldn't fit on the truck, but would work on the trailer. Also note that there is pretty much no additional space in the cab - just the floor in front of you for your feet. Finally, and likely most important, the side mirrors can only be adjusted up and down - not side-to-side. Hence, the visibility you get with the large side mirrors is quite limited, and I had to sway side-to-side a LOT in order to use them.

JESUS TWe had the most positive experience possible. We needed to empty our daughter's storage unit into a UBox and send it to her in Portland, OR. She had lost the key to the lock so we had to get a locksmith to cut the lock. We had only one afternoon to do this & empty the unit. Your staff was invaluable in helping us accomplish this feat . We give particular kudos to Omar!!!! I didn't get the names of the other employees, but they were all extremely helpful & we can't thank them enough. They helped a couple of old people do everything even though we were getting a little fretful & dotty. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL, ESPECIALLY OMAR!!

GILBERT HI rented two different trucks over the last two weekends. Both times the employees were excellent and trucks were clean. However I needed a dolly both times and both times they had zero dolly's at the time of pickup. Buy more dolly's!

ALOYD VI had been renting the uhaul truck for yr he past couple of months almost weekly and had previously kept their vehicles beyond the due date of course knowing that I would have to pay fees and Early cancellation fees but I guess they deemed me a thief so they had me arrested. Even though they have collected every time I would say close to 2k in the past two months. Will never be a customer again although I don't think they care.

Maddie G. was the on-site representative who engaged with me early via email & phone, greeted me on arrival, checked me in & hooked the trailer up to the tow vehicle. She provided clear instructions regarding the trailer's operation. U-Haul is fortunate in having Maddie as an associate.
JAMES KF minus. First the large storage size was unavailable upon arrival even after be confirmed the day before. Ended up with a small unit. Second the automatic door broken when we tried to remove bulky items, had a hard time removing them thru small door. Bad experience with U-Haul.

My front door is scratched, there are a lot of scratches and holes in my walls, parts of the floor are broken, the handrail is scratched, and both refrigerators are dented and scratches. My brand new refrigerator has many dents all over it!! My washer hookups were backwards (hot was on cold and cold was on hot).

Tammy R | Expérience généraleEverything turned out great. There was some confusion on my part because I rented this unit online and chose to purchase a lock from U-haul. It said that my lock would be left in the unit so that I would not need to go to the front office, but that was not the case. There was no lock in the unit. I did need to go to the front office. When I asked them about this, they told me that they never leave locks in the unit and that they always provide them at the front office, so I felt that there was a disconnect somewhere. The use of the code was a bit confusing for me as well because the door to the building automatically opens when you walk towards the building so I wasn't sure that I still needed to enter the code. I am neurodivergent, so what is clear to others is not always clear to me. The people in the front office were patient with me and explained things several times in different ways to make sure I understood all of the instructions. Merci.

Donald N | Expérience généraleSo to start with when I reserved my unit over a month in advance. For a standard size climate control unit. When I got there I was told they did not have that all they had was a closet size non climate control and that is what I would have to take. To put everything that I owned in. So then after having my belongings in that unit I was finally able to get the right size after a year and a half. Then after having my items in the unit and keeping up with it life happened and I got behind. They auctioned off my unit on the 12th of December. In the process they also threw things out that should have been shredded. And now thanks to them I am having to change my bank account do to checks being in the wrong hands.. and probably birth certificate as well. So no I would not recommend uhaul to anyone.

It wasnt until i was ready to empty out my storage that I got the call that my lock wasnt on properly. Luckly all my stuff was still there. A miracle on Alameda St. for sure. I had a Uhaul scheduled so I believe thats why attention was made to the lock being secure or not. Thats crazy.

Told her my name and number- she couldn't find the reservation so she had me get anther unit, larger than what I originally wanted and if course more expensive, I was so exhausted that I didn't argue, just accepted it, paid cash, and was asked if I had a disc lock, the package I originally ordered online came with one because I "booked now", she gave me one. Before we left, we went to check on the unit and to unload my car that was full of boxes, locked up and left. I was leaving and headed down el paseo, I thought to check my account- sure enough, there was the pending charge from my reservation. I called back and she then looked up the number again and miraculously found it! We went back because I needed the cash with my account having been charged and I asked if she would allow us to keep the current unit at the original price that I booked at, I had booked a 9x13x9, this was a 10x10x10, she said she couldn't do that, "that is manager stuff." So she asked if we wanted to keep the one we were in, or go to the reserved one which was less each month, I chose that for that reason and so we loaded our boxes back into the car, and moved units. This whole entire thing including moving, has been quite the ordeal and I'm frustrated. She did give me a discount on next month's fee but that really doesn't make up for it. Moving is exhausting and that was the last thing I needed at the end of a long day- week, month!! Train your employees better please.

Gabe G | Expérience généraleOut of all UHaul staff starting in Mississippi, Ed Ramirez, General Manager was exceptional. He went above and beyond to help two disabled old people like us. It was a hard and long trip for us with dogs and chickens. LOL Ed Ramirez certainly has what it takes to go much further. If I may say so myself, he probably needs one helluva good raise. He is the only reason I'm giving UHaul an excellent rating. It definitely wasn't because of Mississippi. I ordered to pick up my truck in Gulfport and had to drive all the to Biloxi to get it. I never could get online for UHaul. Couldn't get any anwers except from Ed Ramirez. Thank You Ed Ramirez for your dedication to such F***** Up company. I hope UHaul higher up recognize all of your hard work and excellent customer service.

Only thing is my storage unit's security was a bit off (would trigger alarm even though I keyed in, seems the unit reported the wrong ID back to the security system) for many years (and either was recently fixed, or broke worse). I did recommend this storage facility to others, who did have units here, with no problems.
