A complete pre rental inspection was not performed by Uhaul; and they gave me a truck with a flat inner rear tire. This potentially out my life at risk. A vehicle behind me informed me that the tire was flat. It took over 4 hours in 105 degree heat for roadside assistance to arrive to replace the tire. The Gilbert store would not pick up their phone when I repeatedly called! My phone battery died in the 105 degree heat trying to contact the Gilbert Uhaul store and holding for customer service after being touted to the national number. Roadside assistance agreed that the tire had been flat for long before my rental. Why didn't the Gilbert Uhaul store perform a proper pre rental inspection? Why doesn't the Gilbert Uhaul store EVER pick up their phone and just let it transfer to the national customer service? This was a complete nightmare experience that was completely preventable. This was not an accidentâ€¦.it was a lack of indirection. The process failedâ€¦or if there is a processâ€¦it wasn't performed. If a fatality or serious accident would have resulted from this process failureâ€¦.who would be responsible???? Who is responsible for my 4,5 hour delay and being stranded in over 100 degree heat, which damaged my contents. Who is responsible for this?!?! I can't get through to the Gilbert Uhaul store to even ask. It's truly unbelievable that these business practices are occurring in such a safety critical industry. Please be mindful about how the trucks were parked. It was difficult for me to pull the truck out from where it was parked. It was so close to another truck that the mirrors were interlocked with the truck parked next to it. Then there was another truck parked directly behind it that I had no way to back up to pull out. I had to manually tucked the side view mirrors inward to juggle my way out without bumping into other trucks nearby. It was frustrating and all this could have been avoided to provide a smoother pick up experience.Ngaryea Yayu K.

Recommend being more customer oriented and less combative. Staff seemed very short with myself and another customer. Took way too long to turn in a trailer - waited 15 minutes for someone to come back from taking the trash out. In order to rent a storage unit, I had to provide three different people for primary, alternate and emergency contact requirements. Never seen that done before and a bit excessive. I turned the truck in 4 hours after I rented it, completely clean and with more than $40 extra in gas pumped into it. When the bored, slightly snotty kid checked me in, he went over to the truck, chekced it out, came back and told me that I had incurred an extra charge because I went 4 miles over the estimated trip itenerary, despite the fact the only stop made between the pickup and the destination was a gas station 1/4 mile off the freeway, then to the drop-off, then to the U-Haul dealer. He said, "I have to do this." I responded, "No, you don't, but it looks like you're going to anyway," despite turning the truck in ahead of time and with a boatload of extra gas. Should count for something, right? Not to mention "I" didn't come up with the estimated mileage, U-Haul did. While I'll probably use U-Haul again, I'll never set foot in this facility and I recommend you do the same.Mark S.

I was allowed to make a 24/7 booking for a place that did not allow for 24/7 pick up. I had to be placed on hold and waited for an hour until I was directed to another uhaul place. I then had to wait for this place to open up and got a truck with less than 1/2 a tank, a key that was stuck in the ignition and over an hour and a half passed my original booking time. The lateness meant I also lost the movers I had for 8am so I had to move the furniture alone. I had to pay for more mileage (and gas prices) because of going to a different location further than my original reservation and would like all of my money back for this experience. Please have someone call me through the number provided for my reservation. Also do not allow anyone to book a 24/7 pick up from SSC Auto on Ray and Williams field as they will not be able to access their trucks.BRIAN B.

This is my second time renting from this location in the past two weeks. During both of my visits, the employees seemed annoyed and unprofessional. They were chatting with each other and ignoring customers. I felt like I was a burden even though I'd submitted everything online in advance and it was a relatively simple interaction. Hello, the guy I worked with to check in and get things going was extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately. I reserved a 5x8 trailer, however, when I got there it had been given to someone else. Then I was told a smaller trailer, that MAY, be big enough for my needs was available and it wasn't either. Instead, I was forced to get an actual box truck, which thankfully worked, at a much higher overall cost. Not only was the rental fee higher, I had to add the gas to that bill, along with per mileage charges, then the dolly/blankets are purposely put in the way, so in order to load the large item into the truck I had to move both of those and got charged ADDITIONAL fees for that! Overall I easily spent $100 more for something I never even wanted. At which point I was told since it's a busy season, I couldn't even get a discounted rate or anything to offset the cost and extreme inconvenience.JOHN H.

Was charged for storage for another month because you guys can't figure out how to close out my PO because the ubox is showing on the previous PO from customer that had it before it. Gilbert location was great. I originally did a phone reservation for a car trailer at the Ellsworth location of where there did not have my trailer and we're very rude. I had to drive 60 miles (round trip) out of the way because of people not do there job correctly and was late picking my vehicle up due to U-Hauls mistake. . Very very poor customer service. I will never use U-Haul again and quiet frankly feel I should be refunded do to your company's mistake.Greg D.

The original estimate of miles was 50, and the tax was $7. After the trip, I only drove 41 miles, but the final tax was $13.5, which is 20 % of the total charges. I asked why fewer miles but doubled taxes. The agent told me that he also feels very much puzzled about it. I am unhappy about it.Yang W.

I rented the UHAUL to move my parents from Mesa to Hemet CA. My friend went to pick up the trailer and upon inspecting the trailer, my friend found nails in both back tires. Can you imagine the horror of driving a trailer on HWY 10 and having not one but both tires exploding. To UHAUL's credit they upgraded the trailer size for us and sent my friend to a new location to pick it up. The problem was, I had hired a moving company to help load the trailer and had them for 2 hours. Because my friend had to go to a new location to pick up the replacement trailer, he was 45 minutes late. i hired the moving company for 2 hours and we waited 45 minutes of that 2 hours for the replacement trailer to arrive.Greta T.

I reserved a storage unit on 2/4/22 and paid for the lock. I prestigious email stating the law amount was to be refunded so I called to question why and they stated that this facility does not participate in online rentals or reservations it's first come first serve and they should state that up front and not participate in the reservation process if I'm not going to honor it. The staff always appeared overwhelmed. I was rarely greeted when I went into the office area. And the biggest frustration was that when I did need to call and want to talk with someone at the facility, 9 times out of 10 they wouldn't answer the phone. It would flip to a general uhaul answering service. I wouldn't need someone at the general uhaul number. I needed to talk with someone at the facility. A lot of times my card wouldn't allow us in after office hours. Yet no one would answer the phone at the number provided to call with after hour concerns. I was kept waiting outside in plus 105 degree heat when I called for assistance in getting into the storage building. There were several employees cleaning and preparing trucks in the front. I yelled across to them for assistance and every one of them ignored me. I went back inside because no one ever came to assist me. There was one person on the counter, no one to assist customers with needs other than renting!! I have rented here in the past and it was a breezy, seemless move in and move out. My belongings were kept in the same storage at Uhaul for over 5 years. I went there from time to time to get an item. The facility was always very clean, accessible and secure. I made an online order for a 10x10 self storage unit. I also purchased a lock online so that I'd get it all done at one time, QUICKLY. My experience online was great. Everything was so easy to find and setup. I wish I could say the same about my visit to the store. I think the person who helped me was new or they were having a bad day. I wasn't greeted and I didn't feel welcomed. I explained why I was at the store, I was asked for my name and then I just stood there while she worked on it. There was a lot of awkward silence. I asked if everything was okay and she said yes and kept going. I got the vibe she might be having a bad day. I had the order number, to help finding my order. I kept offering it when nobody could find both of my orders. I had proof of all of this. I didn't know what was going on. This was frustrating. Another gentleman came to help the woman who was helping me. Apparently they wanted a 3rd contact phone number but weren't conveying the message to me. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what they were speaking about, I figured out they wanted a 3rd phone number, so i have then my mother in law's number and address. Why wasn't I asked for this online? What i really didn't like was that if I didn't provide this 3rd contact, i wouldnt be allowed to rent the unit. That needs to change! I almost walked out of your store. This next part was not their fault, but the system went down during all of this. I checked on my phone if your website was experiencing this, and yes, it had effected that too. I would've understood if I had been told something was a miss with the system. I happen to overhear the employees talking that the system was down, that's why I checked. The store didn't have the lock I ordered, so they gave me another one. Until I got out of store and was almost to my car. Someone found the lock type I had ordered. I gladly exchanged locks and went on my way. I've worked customer service for many years and I wasn't happy with the way I was treated. But I was also in a rush because I had to go to work. I could've been a bit more pleasant. I work at Chase Field and I still had to go home, get dressed and drive a half hour to downtown Phoenix. I just wanted to leave because I had to get to work. I still thanked everyone anyways when I left because they still helped me. I'm not mad and I have no reason to slander anyone. I don't want anyone fired! With all this stuff going on in the world, i don't want someone to lose their job over me. Give them another chance to make it right. I think they deserve another chance. This is how I recall my visit and unfortunately, my experience wasn't pleasant. I hope this can become a coaching experience for everyone involved and I hope that this would improve the customer service in the future, as I am now your customer with a storage unit. Promised a unit. Called the day before to confirm and asked for a unit number. Was told they couldn't give me one until I showed up. Understood. Upon arrival, was told that they had no unit for me and that they couldn't/wouldn't do anything for me. Called by facility a couple weeks later asking if I was gonna keep using my storage unit. Wait what?! So you either had one and didn't care to give to me or you didn't have one but still wanted to charge me for one. Worst of it?! Their check in kid stole my AirPods out of the truck while I was returning it. They were on the key ring, I know exactly where they were. They denied and denied and didn't seem to care. The Uhaul location in Georgia where l picked up the truck gave me a broken truck with a bumper hanging down. My dad drove the truck all the way from Georgia to Arizona and had to listen to the loose bumper flapping in the wind the whole entire way. When l mentioned it to the manager at the Gilbert Road location she didn't seem to care or want to take any responsibility for it. Otherwise the Uhaul storage unit on Gilbert Road is a nice place. There are signs and ads everywhere saying 24 hour access and online promotes 24 hour access but it appears to only be true for equipment rental namely returns. The late hours did help but in Arizona, the sunless hours are the best to take advantage of and I was grateful for the 5am access to make up the time. Very, very poor customer service. Ordered a U Box in June to move items from storage unit into. I arrived ,after calling for 2 hours and no answers, to find out that my UBox was there with no cover. I was told that I couldn't get it and had to go to a different Uhaul. They could have CALLED me and told me that BEFORE I arrived. Then, after I can back with ubox and emptied the storage unit, I told them to close the unit account. They had the nerve to ask me if I emptied it, that people say that they moved out but didn't. Staff couldn't find my reservation even though I got them the number 3 times. After they found it I had to give them my information including card numbers again after doing it when I made the reservations. When I made the reservations (in the storage facility) I was told access hours were 5:30 am until 10:00 pm. Then, on the move in day I was told "office hours only 7am until 7pm." What is the correct hours? I was also told that there were 2 alarms for the unit, one at the door of the building and one on the unit it's self. After several minutes looking around a inside the unit I realized that that was some more incorrect information that I had been given. This place is not impressive.kelly l. | Premières impressions

The phone is routed somewhere where it just repeats the message machine over and over I've been on hold for 15 minutes no one ever came back to talk to me. The young man was friendly on the phone. The young lady I spoke to previously was not. I've had these 2 storage units for 22 years. Questions don't apply as I did it on the phone.
