The company failed to inform me that I needed to use a round lock on my storage locker and I used a u-lock. The storage company then came along and put their own lock on there and did not notify me in any way. They claimed that they called and left messages they did not. When I told him that I needed the lock removed they then proceeded to explain to me their policy multiple times but I did not need to know. When I had called to ask about the situation one lady hung up on me another one called me back 5 minutes later and told me that it wouldn't be a problem to remove the lock and then someone else called me 5 minutes after that to explain the reason for the round lock. They did try to make me purchase the lock that they put on the locker which I refused. When I arrived at the office I asked them to remove the lock and they refused until a random person claiming to be an assistant manager came along. This company denied me access to my unit for reasons I cannot explain. Nowhere anywhere does it say that I must use their lock They delayed me for a week about a policy they didn't mention, and then while I was getting the lock removed they only gave me one key which means that they held on to the second key for that locker. And of course the person who unlocked my locker told me that they had just recently had about 20 break-ins I don't know why you think any would want to use the service at that location

There were not enough people working on site to handle the customer flow. The individual who “helped†me was uninformed & uncaring. I am a 72 yo woman & expected to drag 2 Dollie's across a parking lot with varying elevations of more than a story. The truck had a broken side mirror & the front end was loose requiring me to steer the vehicle to maintain an even course. Is there someplace else to rent a vehicle? Everything about my experience sucked. My son returned the vehicle & had to wait in line for over 15 minutes until the person was able to help.

Lastly, I thought the van's steering was very poor, and the van seemed to have a hard time tracking straight when driving, even though new.

Matthew G.I had a noticeable rattle in my vehicle after the trailer hitch installation on a Friday. My return on Monday did not fix the problem. My return on Tuesday was met with an attempt to fix the problem but it was not successful and was met with the comment: "it's just engine noise" - on a 2-month old vehicle. My request for a partial refund on the installation charge was honored, but I still have to take my vehicle to somebody who can actually fix the problem caused by the faulty installation of the trailer hitch. Very unsatisfactory customer service.

Vehicles were stolen as I was waiting in line and they installed the wrong class of hitch onto my vehicle after I clarified 3 times that it would be a class III receiver only to find it was a class II when I was given access to my car. (After I had paid) I hope this gets resolved, but as of now I am horrible displeased with the service, product, and experience of my visit.

I called the facility and was told "someone put in and order to clear it out and it had been claimed by another customer." We had not done this. After a few minutes a woman got on the phone and offered a free month to us for the troubles. But it sounded like our property had already been removed. She said it was still there and we didn't need to worry. I haven't been able to get over there this week but I'm concerned things could be missing. How was someone able to close out our account and move our property? Not a great experience. I will ACTUALLY be closing out and removing our property as soon as possible.

I was also told at the first one that the uhaul website rents trailers they may not have available. This is a huge inconvenience not only for me but others who are waiting in line to get their rentals. The staff member was great but I feel uhaul needs to revamp their website to show accuracy of what you are renting and what is actually available. I don't blame the locations for the breakdown, uhaul needs to do better and be honest about what they have.

We initially reserved a trailer from 10am-4pm, when we showed up to pick it up when we were ready at 11:30, the manager, Anthony Duke, told us the reservation had been cancelled. He said they cancel the orders after an hour, apparently with no warning. I said that I thought we had it from 10-4, I didn't realize that we had to pick it up promptly at 10. He took a step back and started *shouting* at me, waving his hands and building up steam “Can you imagine a world in which we let people show up whenever the hell they want?†Yes, I can- that's why I'm here during the time of my reservation to pick up my trailer. I was honestly alarmed by his demeanor and I'd already seen him yell at every customer in the shop including an elderly man who had the audacity of wanting a printed receipt. The parking lot was absolute chaos and customers were unclear where to park while coming inside, Anthony was literally yelling at people for their understandable confusion. So as Anthony is building up steam yelling at me for not understanding their cancellation policy, I told Anthony that this lecture he was giving me was not helping. There was a miscommunication, the trailer is gone, I get it, HELP me find a new solution. He said there was a smaller trailer we could use. I said, I'll take that one then. He said “Nope. There's a u-haul down the street, get out.†I've run this conversation by many people because I don't want to divorce myself from personal accountability, but all have said I did not say anything or act in a way that warranted being barred from service. Calling it a lecture may have come across cheeky, but the man was literally yelling at me, it actually felt like the most diplomatic way I could address this tantrum. So we go to another location- The staff here are also visibly annoyed by customers. There was a woman calling who was asking to speak to a manager and they were all rolling their eyes and smirking at each other while placing her on hold. I get it- I was in customer service and I know it can be frustrating when people are mad at you for things outside of your control, but I also know it's part of the job to keep those reactions away from the line of customers standing in front of you. Anyway, they finally get a reservation booked for us for a truck. They gave us the wrong info at first and a set of keys that didn't match the check out list they gave us. They acted like we were stupid for coming back to point out that the info in the link didn't match the set of keys we had. “Well yeah, we changed the truck, we told you that.†Yes, but you didn't send an updated link to match the new truck, how is our confusion unwarranted? They had the wrong info in the booking and were using my parents' contact info, who weren't even there. I don't know how verifying contact info isn't a standard part of the booking process, but here we are. They said they updated it, but everyday since my mom is getting texts and emails from u-haul about this reservation and I am not. We finally leave with the truck, do our moving, and have it back less than four hours later. We pulled the truck into the garage where it's got a sign for that size of truck. We bring the keys back to the counter and ask the man if there's anything else we need to do to check out. “Nope, we'll email you a receipt in 15 minutes.†I wish I would have stuck around to get a printed receipt, but after watching an elderly man who didn't have a computer to view the receipt get shouted at, I was too nervous to ask for it. My mom gets a call the next day that they can't find the truck- she told them she wasn't involved in this reservation and gave them my number. When they called me I told them we parked the truck where there were signs indicating trucks that size go there. “Oh, you parked in the garage, that's why we can't find it.†No, you can't find it because you have no system and your customers are doing their best in spite of it. Then my card starts getting multiple random charges totaling hundreds of dollars. Mind you, we estimated that we'd use 50 miles and we only used 20. We were told we'd be getting refunded for the unused miles. They were trying to charge me for 180 miles and saying that we had the truck for days. We had it for less than 4 hours and we used 20 miles. This has taken almost a week to rectify and we still haven't heard back from management like we were promised. I don't know what has happened to U-Haul in the five years since I last moved, but this has been the literal worst experience I've had with any company in any field in my entire life. The level of chaos, disrespect, and fraud we dealt with has left me unwilling to ever use U-Haul again.

Adam was no where to be found. Called the telephone # provided and that was in Atlanta. She tried to help me, but could get no one at this location. I had to come back in the next morning to pick up the trailer. I was not a happy customer.

I then had to go inside the building to retrieve the key, which took a great amount of time given the number of customers. The online checking experience states it saves time which my check -in experience actually was longer than expected. The truck was dirty and covered in dust, dirt and dog hair. This was very concerning as we have allergies to dog hair.

But the worker told me it's fine and gave me the key and told me to walk a quarter of a mile down to the end of the property to the truck. Only to discover the truck would not start. Then I had to walk all the way back. They had no other truck that was 26 feet. I had to take a 20 foot truck which forced me to take 2 trips and double my mileage. And she told me she could issue the $50 credit to my purchase because they guaranteed my 26 foot truck and it was not there. But then I got the receipt and they never applied it. Even though she told me while I was still there that she applied it. Such a bad experience.

AMY P.Well, I rented a 15 foot truck and a flat bed trailer to tow my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport ( which I had made them aware of what I was towing when I made reservation) When I went to load up the Jeep the next day I noticed one of the wheel harness straps had been ripped and the other strap was not long enough. So, I immediate called the service provider whom told me they couldn't help me and I was to call roadside assistance. Roadside said I needed bigger straps, because I had oversize tires (mean while these tire came standard on my Jeep.) I was working with Amanda from roadside assistance whom was very nice and helpful, however, she was met with much resistance from the service provider, as well as the tow truck driver. I believe she tried to have me purchase bigger tire straps from the original service provider, whom said he had them, but then It turns out he didn't have them, and he was real rude and disrespectful about it. I eventually lost contact with Amanda and called the U-haul store again for which I was told I could not return the trailer for a refund, and would have to drive to Colorado with an empty trailer. So I ended up making my own straps, that I had to pull over and check about every 50 miles. I eventually made it to the drop off location with no help from St. Paul U- haul, or Roadside Assistance. I will never use you again but if you want to keep your customers you should ask them what size tires they have and if they are over 30" you should tell them they need to buy their own straps, and to order them ahead of time because they have to be ordered on Amazon and it might take a few days. Also you should make them aware that they have to install them by there selves, because U-haul is not going to do a damn thing for you once you drive the truck and trailer off the lot, regardless if you get the damn insurance or not.
Cleveland M.The contract said it had 1/4 tank gas. It was empty, the odometer reading was inaccurate in their favor. Tire pressure system needed service. When I brought the truck back they didn't check it in and kept charging my credit card. Now I have to wait a week for a refund. A total clown show. What can you do to improve? Follow your own procedures

I had a major headache by the time I drove 90 miles. People were excellent to deal with. They do send you on a search for your own truck, which didn't work out well. It was blocked so I could not get out. It would have been nice if they would bring the truck up front for you.

We returned our U-Haul during the working hours and handed/returned the keys to a worker. One staff person opened the door as my teenage daughter was trying to put the truck key in the return slot after we rented a truck & slammed into her… didn't apologize, say excuse me or anything. He just looked her up and down like she'd just hit HIM with the door. The storage unit itself was clean, the temp was correct, access was easy & the overall facility was well maintained, besides their always being u-hauls & the same vehicles parked in the loading bays leaving only 2-3 lanes available for customers. That said, regardless of the facilities - the terrible staff here mean I'll never use or recommend this location.

I received an email from Ethan weeks later saying there was overdue balance and the unit was not paid for which was false since it was already taken care of. I am very unhappy with our experience here and would not recommend anything other than buying boxes.

I was only given a key for the vehicle and almost left and had to go back in and ask about the unit. They realized they did not give me everything I needed so then I had a key for the unit. That night I went to the storage space and there were homeless people roaming the indoor spaces. I did not know how to find or operate the building, no one was answering calls for assistance. Poor experience overall.

I had had problems with my reservation due, I believe, to errors made in Winnipeg, where I picked up the truck. I was frustrated by the additional stresses those problems caused en route to Minneapolis. Roderick's professionalism and sincerely caring attitude turned my mood around within minutes. He is a fine young man and a tremendous asset to the company, and that branch in particular. Merci.
