The only reason we rented from this location was the abysmal failure of the original reservation and pickup attempt. After an hour and a half, 3 calls to the U-Haul 800 number with a 10-15 minute wait each time we discovered the key lock boxes to be empty and the pickup location office “closed for the next 2 weeks”.

1. I checked in before at home and it did not speed up check out. It took 40 minutes. I had to give additional verification. If I knew that, I would have had my passport available. So I had to go into the office 2 blocks away. 2. I parked my car where I picked up the vehicle but I had to return the vehicle on the other side and had to walk effectively 2 blocks to my car. 3. You got my first name wrong and misspelled my last on this survey.

I made a reservation under my business name. Upon arrival that reservation was changed into my employees name. I purchased a moving gift certificate for use on my most recent move. When it came time to pay the clerk did not apply the certificate but instead charged my employees debit card. More training is needed for all Uhaul employees in order for this not to happen to anyone else.

I had everything set up for use of mobile check in. When I got there another person had the same rental truck assigned as me. So therefore, I had to then go inside, wait in line for a different rental.

The battery light was on. The manager told me it would be fine. Unacceptable to put a customer in a truck with a display light on. The battery died and I was stranded on a busy Minneapolis street as the sun set. This manager put me in a dangerous situation just because he didn't want to go through the effort of getting me a new van. I tried to call the U-Haul road side assistance and reached no one. The chat feature is set up so poorly that you can't press the submit button on your phone so I had to call my friend and she had to do it from her laptop and it took over an hour for anything to happen. Manager refunded me for the rental and jump as he should but still said that it was okay he put me in the truck because sometimes the light goes on and the truck is fine. This is completely unacceptable and you have lost a U-Haul customer.

The checkout process was frustratingly long (about 50 minutes for me), and it wasn't clear when I arrived at the pickup place what I was supposed to do (even on my phone). My biggest point of feedback is - if additional identification is required (i.e. passport #, workplace verification, etc), why isn't that gathered during the Online Check-in which I completed 3+ days prior to my pickup date? Like why does it have to take 45 minutes for me to show up and try to pick up a U-Haul when all email and phone communications prior to my arrival make it seem like it's going to be a fairly brief process? If I had known that the passport was needed, I would have gathered that information prior to arriving at the U-Haul location, but I was not notified about that anywhere. I am fortunate that the weather was nice out. But if it was Raining or Snowing or very hot, I think I would be even more upset. Another piece of feedback is that the pickup option still required me to talk to a representative to retrieve the U-Haul key. That wasn't my initial impression when I selected the "Mobile Pick Up" option. I think it would be helpful to make sure that that is clear for folks in the future. The current construction around the location is actually kind of annoying; it added extra mileage to get back onto the highway and prevented me from using certain exits. The staff onsite were helpful in answering my questions, but at some points they were kind of hard to track down (they were performing other work and it was busy).

The customer service rep that checked me in was very professional and polite and gave a great customer experience. However, when I returned the vehicle, the two customer service people were rude and had a very unwelcoming attitude. We used the vehicle to give out food to the community and there was a little flour dust left in the truck and you would have thought that we left something disgusting in the truck. The looks on their faces were very unfriendly. They should really learn true customer service and if they have something to say to the customer, they should say it directly to the customer instead of saying it to each other so the customer can hear it.
