The truck sounded like it needs a new muffler and the brakes required significant space to get to a stop. The truck was also so low on fuel that I was concerned that I would run out of gas before getting to a gas station. I was also disappointed that the store charged me $15 to park my car for the day. The staff was nice and helpful.

As I was inspecting the truck a young man came over and asked for me to move the truck. I said I was inspecting vehicle I was told no need since I took out full coverage. I also realized I selected the wrong insurance coverage and was charged $99 instead of $60 which I still found high. The whole pick up experience seemed rushed. I asked about the mileage and mentioned I would need more miles than that according to my calculations and the rep said nothing she can do about it. Basically the location was no help. It was more so get your truck and jeep it moving. The lady at the counter was very friendly though.

KEVIN L.Vehicle maintenance. While the staff were great and efficient and the vehicle was clean, it was not in good shape nor safe. It had a check engine light on upon starting. There was a crack in the windshield. There was no windshield wiper fluid and the glass was quite streaked and dirty which wasn't too much of an issue until returning it at night. The most dangerous thing was none of the above. The breaks were not okay. The vehicle would slide a little bit with every break including breaking from 5-10 mph in traffic. The vehicle desperately needs tire alignment. Also, even with nothing in the vehicle, it shakes like crazy above 40 mph. I have a high tolerance as I drive a 14 year old car with its own issues, but had this been my wife driving or even in the vehicle with me, we would have returned it.

David F.The line at the counter each time I visit this location is incredibly long and slow, primarily due to the people working the counter being slow (I waited in line for a full 35 minutes to rent a trailer on this recent visit . The pace at which they work is actually punishing to watch. Additionally, they're continually interrupting each other asking questions and for help from another on what they're working on, so once customers are finally getting waited on the employee is rarely fully-focused on them. I've seen many people come in, stand in line for a while, and then walk out -- likely taking their business elsewhere. I would recommend that U-Haul corporate hire an efficiency expert/consultant to go in an observe/audit/evaluate the counter service here.
David H.Shortly after driving off the lot, the truck I rented flashed a message on the dashboard that said service was needed on tire monitoring system, traction and one other thing I can't recall. THREE service warnings!!! Also, the tire pressure light came on after 10-15 miles. Driving this truck made me nervous.

Every single light was on possible when stepping into this car. It had not been serviced, absolutely no one cared enough to check the tires before letting someone drive away from it. This is my first time driving a uhaul.

The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Merci.

I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn't hitched properly. He corrected the issue. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.
Jesse Z. | Expérience généraleThere need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
