Only minor comment involved the fuel level (FL) of the rental vehicle. The initial FL was recorded by the staff as half full, when really it was about 3/8ths full. Standing outside the vehicle looking in, due to parallax error, the FL looked to be half, but seated in the drivers seat with a straight look at the fuel meter showed that it wasn't…I took a picture before leaving, showed it to the staff when I returned the vehicle, and they agreed that they had misread the FL & I was not charged for "missing" fuel.
KYLE GTruck was in empty when I picked it up. Service member put gas down as 1/4 full. Had to buy gas as soon as I left the lot.

HARRY DThe staff was very accommodating and helpful, and the store was well-equipped with all kinds of moving/storage supplies and rentals. My main critique was with the truck because I don't think it was ready to be released to anyone and it was not a comfortable drive to Florida. 1.) The cab was absolutely filthy with hair and dust all over the seats, floorboard, and dash at pick-up. I had to shop-vac the cab when I got home, when this shouldn't have been my job to do. 2.) The engine light was also On, but I was told it should be okay. Though I don't believe the engine light issue affected my trip, this should have been corrected prior to the truck's release as a precaution. 3.) Lastly, steering the truck was very difficult because the wheels were misaligned. I had to keep the steering wheel aimed to the left to make the truck go straight, even though I made sure my heavy items were towards the front, the weight was balanced, and my car was positioned correctly on the autotransport. I steered left when the truck was full and when it was empty without the autotransport so I know weight was not the issue. I pointed this out when the truck was dropped off and they agreed it needed a wheel alignment.

LEE DDrop off location and checking in nails upon their return was extremely difficult and such a hassle. Almost got charged additional money and had to spend hours on the phone figuring out how U-Haul made a mistake and where it was.

DENNIS PFantastic people! Some how my drop off was changed to North Charleston without realizing it. To avoid the traffic, the store manager was very kind and inviting and relieved me from having to fight the traffic to get back to North Charleston. Thank you very much!
CESARE GMid driving in the rain the windshield wiper just came off fortunately it got caught on the arm but had to pull over and fix it in the rain. The truck has no cruise control and only offers cigarette lighters for charging your phone.

LAVERN STruck was clean (except the windshield, I could't see through) but rundown. The staff when we brought the truck back was rude and we got charged for blankets that we didn't used (sealed in there bags). We will definitely not come back and will not advice anyone to do business with this U-haul location.

From start to finish, every single employee I encountered was friendly and helpful, even anticipating and suggesting things I hadn't thought off that ended up making my move immensely easier. They genuinely seemed to enjoy their job. I will only use uhaul and the King St location for any future moving needs.

DENNIS Pwhen i returned the trailer, they did not check it in. I got a call the next day from another uhaul location telling me that the trailer was overdue. I had to call the king street location and have them search their parking lot for the trailer and check it in.

GARY FThe truck was in awful shape. It was covered in scratches and dents. The Transmission felt like it has seen better days. The windows were held on with tape. The armrest didn't work. I've never seen a rental truck in that bad of shape.

BRIAN TThe team at this U-Haul, from the owner we encountered in the morning, to the associate who we returned the truck to were extremely rude and not helpful. I ordered a van, received a call that it was not available the day before, and was told that was a mistake after calling to confirm. When we arrived, they said they could not give us the van and could only give us a box truck. When speaking to the owner about the pricing difference (from the website and payment online to what she charged me in store), the owner was extremely rude and very condescending. The box truck itself was fine - very worn down and not in the best condition. So much so, that the driver's door would barely open. Luckily, it did get us to and from our destination. When we returned the van, the associate was arguing with my husband about how we filled the tank up the 3/4 of the way full when it should have been 9/16. In the end, we felt like he was arguing and causing a scene simply to charge us extra. I never leave reviews, but I feel like people need to know our experience. From now on, we will only be renting U-Hauls from the one in North Charleston...

McKenzie YThe employees at this location are great. The trucks are in bad shape and poorly maintained. The truck I had was missing parts, had cracked dashboards and windshields, but also the battery died while I was on the side of the road. No lights or anything else were left on, so I assume it was just a bad battery.

My poor experience is because I rented a van weeks to a month in advance and the day before was contacted and told they didn't have a van at that location and I had to drive 10 more miles to get one. Nope!!! Asked for a truck instead and the truck was awful. Drivers door wouldn't shut right and a headlight was out. Found out Home Depot rents vans so bye u haul!!!

ANIQUA WThe gentleman that I returned my trailer to in the lot never checked it in. I received a notification 4 days later that it was late and incurring charges. I called and spoke with Carol and she found the trailer, checked it in and cleared by account. She was excellent at solving the issue. Thank you, Carol.

WILLIAM TWhile the EVENTUAL pickup place was great, my original pickup location was AWFUL. Why would you allow anyone to make a reservation for pickup AT AN UNMANNED LOCATION?!

REBECCA HI reserved a 26' truck on 10/16. Checked in the day before and upon arrival was told they did not have a 26' truck for me. Mind boggling and poor customer service. Added an extra journey to our incredibly long, tiring day. All I received as an apology was "sorry man don't know what to tell you, I can take 30 cents a mile off. Saved me $6.
Stephen AHi My complaint is with the location that I dropped off the trailer. I was scheduled to drop in the 26th but was not able to drop off until the 29th. I received an automated bill for 5 days late.
JEFFREY HDrop off location was convenient and the people were very nice. Again, I just feel that the scheduling of the rental times of these trucks is too close for them to properly maintain and clean these vehicles.
Elizabeth SBreak lights were out except one. They told us it was okay we check everything. Noticed they had marked lights with x's so they knew they were out. No time to go back. So we used truck anyway. Made it safely to Ohio. Check in person was not the friendliest.
MICHAEL HMy truck had over 200k miles on it and was on the verge of breaking down. The brakes were terrible, and it was hard to get the truck to stop while driving. When it did stop, it would shake furiously. I didn't feel safe, and I had to return the truck before I was finished with my move.

Coury CThe first trailer I pulled out had a broken belt in the tire so I had to return for a different trailer. Then the second trailer wanted to sway all over the road for 4,5 hours. P I'll retry bad experience all the way around. The guys in the yard are not maintaining these trailers at this location. That was the 4th uhaul I have rented (same size) in the ost 6 months-ish. I would not use this location again and the whole ordeal set me off a day with my move.

I have a discharge email stating that my discharge was complete. I follow all the steps and I took all the pictures and I sent the pictures in and I kept the email that I was sent for proof of my discharge.

The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

These employees fail to understand that the money they are paid comes ONLY from the customer and that they work for the customer. They undermine the business and prevent it from standing out as a great place to do business with.

This is a busy office but I received excellent service as if I was the only customer present. I have been waiting for the opportunity to note the amazing service delivered by Latosha (excuse misspelling). After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Merci.

I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn't hitched properly. He corrected the issue. I was checking out and running a little late and the staff stayed around an extra 30 minutes for me to finish. This team has excellent customer service.

Also, the recurring payment choice never worked, and each month I had to call and hope they would remove late fee.
Michael M | Expérience généraleThis is the only place that I know of that charges twice as much than anyone else to store items in a flood plain, Of course there is no grace period for paying the rent, even if you can't get to the storage area due to a flood. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.
Jesse Z | Expérience généraleThere need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
