The truck was not mechanical sound. The weather stripping was falling off, the transmission was very hard shifting and I was charged for things I never ordered and the rate was not the same as I was told. I have rented from U Haul many times. I am very disappointed in U Haul and will not be using U Haul again .

They changed my reservation location from 9th Street to Tropicana which I didn't know until I arrived by Uber to pickup the truck. Supposedly there was an email. A phone call would have been better. The staff at 9th Street location was unsympathetic when I asked him to call Tropicana location and let them know I was on my way, he called the other store and said "she's running late". Really, is it necessary to be an a-hole and not explain the situation that the reservation got moved? No apologies for the inconvenience just said you should have got an email and we don't have to the equipment here. Discourteous and not a good example of customer service at 9th Street location.

Dropped our tow off a day before our truck and it was so seamless and easy. The attendant even recognized us the next day and welcomed us back. Turn in was simple and we didn't even have to go inside. I will be using this location for all my future needs.

I requested a specific drop off location for my trailer. When I got to drop off location they refuse to accept trailer because they were “full.” The sales clerk in the St. Pete location did not give me a specific drop off location, but she also did not tell me about that. Even though she verbally acknowledged my specific drop off location she didn't actually put it on the paperwork.

Poor inventory. No one knew where the trucks were and the truck was given to me with very little gas. After hours pick up did not work at this location.

I had a smooth experience. I reserved my truck just the evening before. The gentleman checking me in the next morning was nice. He ensured all of the reservation information was correct and that I had all of the additional equipment I had ordered as well. Upon my return that evening, around 6pm, the gentleman there to assist with the collection of the trucks outside was super friendly, efficient and got me on my way quickly after a long day of moving in the heat.

The Self Check-in did not work on mobile. It kept saying that the location is not recognized. The AC did not work in the truck. It ran for a few minutes and then stopped most of the time I had it.

Terriablw customer service .. called location to let them know I would be running late and got the call center . No answer so I had to put in for a call back . By the time they called back I was already at the location . The line to check in to get my vehicle was already 6 people deep at 7:25 am As I was in line I decided maybe I should do the check in on line . I was able to place my registration number in with my Fl number etc but the system would let me go farther to wher I could enter my c c credentials and grab my order of keys. So I waited for 20 min in line ! By the time Rico was checking me out he was extremely rude when I asked questions on how I do certain things he just ignored ny request. Upon getting my truck i needed to do a truck inspection but the app still wasn't showing so I asked the delivery driver how do I check the app to conclude I agree with the no damage before I take the vehicle. He did not know either ! So I took photos to ensure that nothing was damaged and I left . Most horrible experience to date. Poor CUSTOMER SERVICE! !!!!

I did online reservation when I went to pick up they could not find. It was short staffed and chaotic in their office. The truck they gave me had not been fueled and had 1/4 a tank. I picked up at 10:15 and dropped off after gassing at 11:55 AM. I did a payment of $35,15 with mileage and $19,95 rental. I was billed an additional charge of $38 when I call your number I sit on hold then it says it will call back. Someone calls 1,5 hour later but no one is on their end it sounds like a phone in someone's pocket and they hang up. I called the local number of Tropicana the manager was extremely rude. First it might be just pending, no both charges are there. Then they billed two days not two hours, then he has no idea what breakdown of two charges are but I owe them even though he has no explanation. U Haul has no customer service

Original reservation at West St. Petersburg location did not call me to advise that they did not have the trailer that I reserved. Would have been nice if they would have notified me before I drove 20 minutes to get there. Should have located another and notified me before I arrived. Also trailer that I rented had an expired license tag.

make sure to verify the mileage and gas BEFORE releasing. They said tank was 3/4 full when it was almost empty. Then, when I returned it after a few hours, the previous renters lied about the mileage and I was almost charged for 700 miles.

I had to delay getting a trailer for 2 days because there were none in my area. The day before my rental, Christian called to say the trailer would not be ready on time. He said he sent a credit to my card for $50, as per the online reservation guarantee. I haven't seen that in my account. Instead, I rented a truck for more $$. I received the truck with so little gas that the fuel gauge said I had 27 miles. So my first stop had to be the gas station. The lock on the back door didn't work. When I turned in the truck they sent me a bill for 10 more miles than I drove. All of this is unacceptable. I expected a simple rental and fair treatment. I got many hassles and overcharged!

Had a blow out on trip back to Indiana. Lost 3 hours waiting on road service. The biggest cause for trailer tire failures is incorrect tire pressure. Please dbl efforts on checking for correct tire pressure before releasing trailers.

There were several vehicles of the size I rented on the lot at the time of rental, but was given an older one with 146K miles on it rather than one of the newer ones, but there may have been a reason for this. I will say that the staff at this location is consistently helpful and courteous. They go out of their way. A+. We have had a storage unit at this location since 2014.

Never would I ever recommend this place .The most horrible experience I have ever had at a place of business .The person who puts on hitch balls yelled at me for several minutes .about 15 minutes it went on for , it stressed me out to no end.The girl didnt want to measure for the ball the store in Whelsley Chappel said was correct one ,they put on hold for me,after they installed my whole tow bar ,Whelsley Chappel people were very professional and very helpful, Unlike the St Pete store on 2nd ave so.Just awful .Just disgusting !!!!!! If I had people like that in my business ,and I did own my own business in St Pete for 18 years, I would deffinately fire them on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was something I have never seen in my life in any business,,hope you fire that person, and talk seriously to all other personal from the day I was there.He was supposed to be the installer there but knew nothing about the right ball or height needed to put on my car , even after the Whelsley Chappel store told them what I needed and put it on hold st pete store for me to pick up.He kept screaming at me he would sell me anything,,,and I know nothing I kept saying about hitches or hauling , only was listening to the people at U Haul in Whesley Chappel who ,were right ,....after all ....and I had to go through that crazy scene at 2nd avs so. ..I will never forget that ,,...just the most awful day he made it and that girl there .

I was given 120 mileage for a one way and only have 1/4 tank of fuel so I had to fuel before starting. I have always had at lease 3/4 tank. Unacceptable.

The double axle trailer is too heavy to lift to attach to a hitch after it is loaded. Online they are shown with a trailer jack however mine did not have one. Surely we can't be expected to keep our vehicle attached to the trailer on a week long rental. This location didn't have any trailer jack so now I'm in a precarious situation.

We realized the utility dolly I was charged for was not in the truck when we were ready to move my daughter's appliances and the business was closed. I should have checked before leaving, obviously, but I assumed it was in there since the person at the counter said the dolly was being placed in the truck when I was paying.

Answer phones and contact customer about any changes not on reservation. Allow customer locks to be placed before store place a gadge so customer can't place their lock. Stop all the unnecessary phoney charging robbing seniors of their limited funding. Looks shady with lock issue and bogus charges, what are you doing,?

When I picked up the staff was great. When I went to drop off the trailer on 6/26/22 the staff where horrendous. Normally when you drop off a trailer they let you park in the drop off area and they relocate…. Or they tell you where to park it which is a pretty easy spot to get to. The 2 men that were working asked me to back this trailer up in between other trailers and a trash canister. First attempt tried to back up in this narrow area because the lot was pretty cramped, the employee didn't help guide me at all even after I told him that I can't turn around here it is to small of an area… he continued to play on his phone and give me another area to go to 2nd attempt: was backing up using the lackluster guidance from the employee who with his guidance had me hit the wheel well of another trailer, and was going to have me continue to back up 3rd attempt: I couldn't follow the guys guidance because I now have 0 % trust in any of the employees and I got it backed up after pulling out of there lot around the corner and entering through the exit to get this thing parked in the tight, almost impossible spot for someone who isn't an expert at parking a trailer. I will never rent from this location again or if I do I will rent from them but won't drop off because that experience was HORRIBLE

I was a GM for 18 years and know what it's like to maintain a facility like this. It was clean and the storage room was spot on with the green zip tie and green tag with date recorded on it. It was a fairly secure building except for a few creepys hanging around…but every place has its own. All in all great job to the GM and staff, like Joe Shoen says "we have the TAj Mahal why go any place else".

We paid an additional $80 for the installation of wiring that was already on our truck. The website didn't allow us to purchase without adding the wiring kit. The installer drilled into our truck's bumper to add the outlet underneath where it already existed--unnecessarily adding holes to our bumper for something we should not have even paid for. It's not as if they didn't see that it already existed because they had to unplug the wiring where it already was and reroute it to the newly installed outlet. So, not only did we pay extra for pieces we didn't need, we also have unnecessary damage to our truck. The owner attempted to make it right by allowing us to pick up our trailer one night sooner but said that the GM should be refunding/resolving the issue since he didn't have computer access when we were in-person but we have not heard back. The trailer itself was pretty beat up but it was able to get to our end point so that was okay.

the code given in the online confirmation email was completely wrong. If we had shown up after hours, it would have been a disaster. Fortunately, the office was open and the staff were all incredibly helpful. Very happy with the experience.

My items were shipped to this location from CA. The truck driver put the account in his name, which is fraud. The folks here were very helpful and worked with the police department to ensure my items were safe.

When I secured the space, I secured it online. Online, it stated that the space was for a one to two bedroom apartment. That was absolutely not the case. I had to secure a second unit and I thought that they would have given me a discount. But they didn't! Look at the space before you secure it!!

Staff never answers the phone. Often are rude, when I first moved they refused the truck I drove even though I drove across country, then it took over a year and a call to cooperate to honor 1 month of free rent on storage. Prices are severely under quoted. By far the worst place I have ever rented.

I can not say enough good things about the staff and facility at this location, especially Jimmy, the manager and Patti, the housekeeper. The facility was always sparkling clean. My items were in storage for almost two years. I will miss these helpful and professional U-Haul employees!

The guy that works there - might be the manager was very kind and willing to assist when I hit a snag in my unit. Everyone is really nice - I think The units are really small compared to the ones in Md and Georgia - but I'm a master packer and made it work. Great location and they have lots of carts which came in handy because it got very busy and no one had to fight for carts - that was a plus. Also appreciated someone showing me how to get in after hours.

Would give a zero star if I could. From day 1 this was a hassle. Took me over an hour to get the unit since the line was so long. It wasn't cleaned. I had to clean it myself. The staff member gave me a broom instead of offering to clean herself. The manager is unreachable and doesn't care at all. Will never go to this location again and will never refer anyone here. Worst business arrangement I've made in my life.

There was a mix up when I arrived with my furniture stating I had not paid which took some time to straighten out. At first they were ot going to give me the free month. Because of the mix up I could not set up an account. As they never answered the phone, I had to go to the store to pay for the extra months needed. When I was ready to leave, the elevator (only 1 at the facility), was broken! They laughed and said they didn't know when it would be repaired. I wa very upset. The manager told me he was offended that I blamed him! Well,he is the manager! It was a strange reaction. Keep in mind, I was paying more rent because I couldn't move into my new home because I could not get my furniture out of storage. This went on for 2 weeks! The manager did comp me a truck to move my furniture once the elevator was fixed. It did not cover the additional rent but I was just happy to be out. In addition, I had to go down to check on the elevator because again they didn't answer the phones and no one called me to tell me it was fixed! Very poor customer service!

Got the code to let me into the maximum security storage facility wasn't told that I had to check in using the code at this particular access point then I can use the door key pad but after that was explained to me I had no problems the staff was polite and courteous and even showed me to my storage unit and how to use my code to access the elevator and when I asked for a security card to let me in the door instead of using the code they gave me one without a fuss and told me if I have any problems questions or concerns please feel free to come to the desk and ask it may cost a little bit more but it is definitely worth every penny. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone especially those who value their possessions.

The facility itself was secure. However, I reached out to customer service and got the main number as the facility ALWAYS transferred its phones to the main number. You can never reach the facility itself. The main uhaul could not answer my question and assured me that the manager of Tropicana field would return my call. He/she never did. I was supposed to get a free month of storage as I had rented a truck within the last 12 months. (Mine was actually within the last 6 weeks). The customer service reps at the main number checked my qualifications and assured me that I did qualify. The they charged me at the facility and when it was questioned, they said that since I didn't rent the truck 'from a certain distance', I didn't qualify for a free month. I'm Scratching my head over that loophole. Not even quite sure what it means. The facility itself was fine. I made the reservation through uhaul central since you can never reach the facility itself. On the move-in day, the facility told me that they gave my storage unit to someone else (we were there at 9 am), but, they were able to come up with another for us. Why did they even bother to tell me that? The place is chaotic but my belongings were safe in the end.

I arrived at Uhaul at 8:15am. There was only 1 employee working. He was very slow. There were 3 people in front of me. By the time I got up to the counter it was after 10:35a.m. The Uhaul employee had a nasty attitude and was unprofessional. He was very condescending with myself and the black woman who was before me in line. However, his demeanor was totally different with the two other guys/customers that were in front of the line. I had to be to work at 12 noon but due to waiting 2 hours to get and having to store my items storage I waisted an entire day and had to miss work. I also reserved a storage unit and it was too small for my things! I had to get another storage elsewhere. This was the absolute worst experience I ever had. I would never recommend. I should be accommodated for inconvenience and lack of professionalism. This experience was horrible. // Later that morning a woman (Uhaul employee) arrived around 11am-11:30am. Her attitude was totally different from the man earlier that morning. She was very professional. But unfortunately the bad experience I had earlier that morning with the man who was at the counter trumps that and made my entire experience an absolute nightmare.

Great place to store things! It's the moving out that's a pain. So many homeless folks come up and ask to help you, so I felt uncomfortable leaving my truck unattended to load up more for fear of my things being stolen. The elevator was also miserable to use if anyone else is moving at the same time. Anyone above you will come down with a full load and I waited 5 minutes for two rounds of people to unload the elevator. When it's 80 degrees in that breezeway 5 minutes feels like forever. Overall I'm glad we had the option to keep our things here, but glad it was temporary. Everyone who works there is very friendly and accommodating.

There were dead roaches in the hallway and 3 in my storage unit. I was disgusted and couldn't believe it. I was told management would get back to me to offer a resolution. It's been 3 days and not one phone call, email or text. This is utterly embarrassing.

The Staff was always helpful if needed and it was rarely busy when I did have to get into my units. The auto payment option made everything easy. The elevator certainly isn't the fastest on the planet. Overall I had a positive experience.

I was given a second floor storage unit with no elevator access. Had I known this prior to moving in, I would have found a different storage unit somewhere that didn't force me to carry my items up a flight or stairs. I'm unable to store some of my items here at all due to this restriction.

This store is really busy and really understaffed. There is always a long line and it takes too long for each transaction to occur. If you have a question and call the store you will be on hold for at least 30 - 45 minutes. Frustrating because it is in a great location and always has a variety of trucks and equipment available for your move.

I had an old and valuable antique oriental rug in storage. I recently moved into a larger dwelling and when I unrolled the rug there were larvae all over and a great deal of the rug was damaged, possibly destroyed. This was a family heirloom that apart from monetary value, had great sentimental value to me. I'm heartbroken this beautiful reminder of the home I grew up in and 3 subsequent homes of my own is so damaged. I've never seen a single instance of this during my 25 plus years of owning and using this beautiful piece in my home. I'm greatly upset about this and heartbroken.

There was a reservation error. The centralized reservation system gave me lockers that didn't exist at this location . I had a lot of stuff. The Tropicana staff worked fabulously with me during a very stressful time and gave me everything they had for space. The manager, James Beck, made things very reasonable in terms of cost adjustment. All the staff were pkeasent and helpful.

I will commend this particular UHaul for its cleanliness as I am all about clean especially in a storage facility. Most of the folks at this facility are helpful and pleasant.

After being a loyal customer for nearly two years they decided to increase my rate, even though they still advertise and offer the same rate to people who are currently signing up. So they basically try to squeeze more money out of customers who have been there a long time, but continue to offer the same size unit to new customers for the price I had paid all along. I guess they are banking on customers being too lazy to move out. I called and left a message asking to discuss the issue with management and he never even took the time to return my call. Apparently U-haul is more interested in short-term profit than brand/customer loyalty. I found a very nice, brand new storage unit nearly twice the size (10x15) less than a mile away for basically the same price I had been paying U-haul. I may have no choice but to use the services of u-haul at some point in the future depending on where I am, but I can certainly tell you that it will never again be my first choice. I will shop around and likely pay more for a competitor's services if they are available before I ever resort to using U-haul again because I don't want to support a business whose business model is designed to "reward" customer loyalty with predatory practices.

We received two one month rentals after moving to the area but were told that we could only use one of those months because the first month would make us a customer voiding the second month. After finally agreeing to use one month we went after store hours to pick up some items from our storage only to find that there was a staff lock on our door with a sticker stating we were being locked out of our unit due to failure to pay. This was only 2 weeks after setting up everything with the one month free! When the staff put that lock on they put a second sticker on our lock, stating that it was an invalid lock yet it was the same style lock that the staff used to lock us out. At no point during any of this were we informed that the lock used to secure our belongings had to meet specific criteria. We were also never informed that we had been locked out of our belongings unit arriving after hours only to find we couldn't get in. As a result we were forced to make a last minute scramble to empty our belongings from the unit before the month ended.

We have that unit for approximately seven years and never had any significant problems. We needed to downsize and there was not a smaller unit available at this facility so we had to go elsewhere. The only other issue that ever came up was I was in the hallway on the first floor just asked the office and sometimes they would have deliveries that were stored in someone blocking my entrance but the staff will always take care of it for me.

I requested moving pads when I created my truck reservation online which I didn't receive. I reserved the truck for about 4 hours and then called to extend the same truck, but was charged twice for it
