Lots of homeless somehow walking around through complex, dumpster diving. Wouldn't say it was secured well, door into buildings should also have locks/actually close all the way. What's the point of have environment controlled storage if doors don't shut properly. Hours would be more convenient if 27/7. Let people move outside of their work schedule and at cooler times of the day. Lady on sight was very kind, did a great job of cleaning. Lady at office could have a better attitude. Would not recommend this location.

Staff on site very friendly, kept are clean. Can't say area was maintained due to following issues. Access should be 24/7 to your unit, esp if there is proper security. Door to building isn't very secured, anyone can walk in. Gaps in between floor and wall to unit. Solution is to put rat traps inside my storage unit? Lots homeless walking inside gate, going through dumpster. How do they have access? If it wasn't for a free month of storage I would NOT use this location. Very disappointing. One star rating is for the staff onsite only. Every thing else about this experience is sad.

I was not told a time to return the u-haul truck so I was charged and additional day that was not explained to me. When I went to get my refund I was not given one and was told that I owe an additional amount of money when I paid a deposit and my deposit was not refunded nor did I receive anything back from the deposit

The staff equipment and both places office and storage was clean very well marked the staff that help me getting my storage and checking in and out was excellent they all need a raise . Now the storage facility there are homeless living in the storage unit when I pulled in and got out of my truck I was approached by a woman trying to sell sex inside the storage facility . There are men living inside the units selling and doing drugs I passed a unit with the door up and it look like a hotel set up

My unit was broken into. I was never contacted. They had my old information, which i had updated previously. I had a table saw stolen and didn't know it until i vacated my unit july 30, 2023. They didn't care. Didnt offer any recourse to get my property back or reimburse me. I thought this business was supposed to be secure? It is not as there are too many homeless people using/living in their vacant units. And my unit wasn't the only one broken into. When i received my last bill via email, ALL my old information WAS STILL ON THERE! They never updated it. So I'm out a $300 saw because of their incompetence.

Everyone has gone well above my expectations with their helpfulness. Especially Tyson, who was willing to allow me to modify my reservation which gave me a bit more flexibility since I was moving literally across the country from Colorado and needed a place to store my daughter's Jeep. Moving is incredibly stressful and add long distance moving a family and multiple vehicles, the team, and Tyson, were able to answer my questions and assist with storage, which helped calm my nerves. Thank you so much for all your helpfulness, courtesy and kindness! A+ five stars all the way!

That black woman with pregnant is very rude and mean she permanently me off the U-Haul storage place bec some of U-Haul policys that I don't know about she not the boss she banned me from U-Haul storage place for no reasons I went back forth like 6 times a day I don't live home I live in downtown rescue mission shelter Bec I have to go back forth for clothes to change and she kicked me out because of that and I have see many people go to U-Haul storage many times why me only kicked out and I have done many times for over almost 8 months back forth no plm until few days ago that I'd very baloney talks too also I have a girlfriend that live same as mine I put her name in my account I don't know their more policys I am deaf and can't understand them very well they suppose to write a paper down what are their policys rules I told everybody and my family said U-Haul is very wrong to me for no reasons and no refunds back that is wrongful of U-Haul company they don't care about helping deaf people out there like me my family are mad about it too alway payment on time every month

I was moved to from a storage unit that I requested prior to moving in. The storage unit that I was given at the time of signing still had someone else's stuff inside. When I was relocated, I was charged extra for a unit that I didn't request. The staff, just one woman, was rude. They did not give me a gate access card that worked. Each time that I needed or wanted anything, the staff did not accommodate. For example, I wanted to rent a trailer but was told they didn't have any available on site. I knew from experience at the location down the way that she could have given me options but that was it. She didn't help me any further. I have numerous examples over the year that I rented a unit. Like, the same employee telling me that my storage was empty when it wasn't. It made me panic and rush to check my unit. It was not empty. She said she got them mixed up.

Overall great experience. Team was helpful and friendly. Minor issue with storage unit we were assigned being in use already but they gave us an upgraded unit and resolved the issue quickly! Would definitely use them again when needed.

We got broken into and staff was not helpful at all will not even share video footage if ever there is one. This was the second time we got broken into poor management and poor staff if I can give them a negative comment I would but there is no negative. If you want to store your belongings look else where. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY.

I had a lot of problems they rented me a storage that was already occupied and then tried to charge me for the change I paid for a climate control unit and I ended up getting one that was not climate control I was so disappointed with there service

Would have love to have the flat bed carts more readily available for move in and out. Had to search the facility to find the carts. Carts wasn't in the desinated place. Facility is has no attendants to assure use of tools for move in and out. 4400 University Dr (across from University At Huntsville).

Excellent Storage facility on Old Monrovia. Just a little confused on areas of location for return of truck based on company name such as "Advantage". Would not have known to return to "Advantage", but I saw U-haul trucks parked on lot. Would be easier if truck returns are allowable at any U-haul facility.

Had a one way rental coming to this U-Haul. I got stuck in stand still traffic for two hours. I decided to call this location and give them an update that I would be late and ASKED about a late fee. The young lady said it would be ok, just get here safe. No fees mentioned. So we arrive and we immediately offload the tow dolly. We booked the storage unit online. The employee says they had the one we booked. So we all drive over in the rain in search of this available unit with the U-Haul truck. After circling for thirty min. The employee states that the storage we had is actually rented out and that we would either have to upgrade or get an inside unit. Well after being treated so well, we decided to upgrade. I was very satisfied, UNTIL I wake the next morning with an $77 charge. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION! I called the store, no answer. Got through to the care center and she repeatedly called. Promised me a call from Tyson the general manager the same day. I actually waited for Tyson to call for two days before I wrote this review. I have heard absolutely nothing after they told me it was ok there would be no fees for being late, then drove me around in the rain for an hour looking for storage. Terrible communication. I am not happy, I know wish I would have put my items elsewhere.

The lack of on-site staff makes this facility vulnerable to vagrants entering the buildings. It is an a part of town that has a large population of homeless people and I have been there on occasions when I found them camping out in the hallways inside the buildings.I never felt safe when visiting

The elevator on move-in stopped working causing my hired movers to take longer, the unit assigned was given to another(as objects were already there) then on move out the same thing( elevator not working) meaning since movers paid by hour it cost me even more money. I would like to be compensated for overly paying labor for fault from uhaul and it's staff and facilities maintenance.

This location is in a horrible part of town with some very questionable renters. I felt incredibly unsafe and intentionally moved our belongings after 2-3 weeks because I felt unsafe and do not want to ever got back there again. They can do a great job on questions 1-5, which they did, but the quality of other renters will completely overshadow all of that. Also of note in general, the inability to get past the central call center to reach an individual location is ridiculous. That is another reason I got rid of this unit, the place I am at now is not only safer but I call the location and can talk to a person instead of getting routed to a central call center and maybe forwarded to the actual location.

Purchasing the unit was a bit of a hassle dealing with staff members who didn't listen to my request for contact information/just getting the unit in general. During the duration of my rental I experienced slight harassment to pay more than what was owed several times in the last few months of having the unit. It was difficult to reach management and faculty ... unless going in store which wasn't always possible. The trash was out of control almost all the time. The bathroom was disgusting every time, so we could never use the restroom when going to the storage. Overall it could've been a much better experience!

The staff was nice, the storage lot to my unit is ok. The gate that our truck can fit into and drive around with out any issues is broken. Cause of that we have to somehow fit a 26ft truck around some tight corners without hitting anything. I would recommend getting this fix, or someone will end up hitting something if they are not careful.

I reserved a truck a week in advance. When I arrived to get my truck they said the system over booked and they didn't have a truck. They said there was one at another location. I went to get that one. When I got to my unit there was an additional lock added to it. No one notified me of the lock being added and I was charged for it. The communication was poor and the whole process was extremely frustrating.

3 issues with UHaul storage - bathroom at the facility was unsanitary and not maintained. - reservation made online and confirmed with a reservation number was not on the facility record when I arrived at the facility. - billing was not efficient. My credit card was on file for monthly billing but my 2nd month my account was charged late fees because the information had been "lost."

I was having trouble getting the reservation to pull up on my phone. A lady at the location helped me even though it was after hours. I thought a lock was included but wasn't present. Lights inside unit did not work.

I made a reservation for a truck and storage by calling into the call center. The young lady was extremely helpful, but the rest of my experience with U-Haul after that was horrible. When I found out that I was not going to be able to be in Huntsville by the time the store closed, I started calling. No one answered and my calls were transferred to the call center. The gentleman that I finally talked to said that he talked to someone at the facility and that I would be able to move in my unit after hours. This was not true! I had to get an extension on the truck for two extra days. While paying movers to unload the truck, they discovered that there were holes in the top of the truck, so my mattresses got wet. I also had to rent another unit because the one I had was not big enough. After renting the second unit we found a lock on it. I called the store and again no one answered the phone! There were three people working in the office and NO ONE answered. I sat on hold for over an hour waiting for someone to pick up. I finally drove back to the store to get them to come take the lock off. I expressed to them that I was paying someone by the hour and we had completely wasted an hour because no one answered the phone.

I would give an excellent review, but everytime I went to the storage building there were no moving carts to be found anywhere. It wasn't that they were in use either. Their just wasn't any, which sucks when your moving Heavy stuff to the end of a Hall on the 2nd Floor.

I reserved a unit online and went into the store to get a key card. It was convenient because it was Sunday, and they were open until 5pm. I was also able to rent a truck at the same time. I got my truck loaded up with storage unit items, and headed to my unit. We got there only to find the key card we received did not work (which I was told may not work for 24 hours) and the special code I made (incase the card didn't work) did not work either. The after hours manager that was listed on the gate never called back, and the store front was closed because it was 10 min past 5. I could never once get through their phone lines. It would hang up every time. When we finally got into the unit the next day, it was not climate controlled like I had reserved. The elevator smelled of old cigarettes and pee and I was just not overall pleased. I decided to rent elsewhere for a few extra dollars at a very clean well maintained facility.

I was sick with Kobe when I first reading from you out accidentally got the truck stuck called a tow from U-Haul they towed it away and didn't let me have a chance to get my things okay a month or two went by finally I found the place with no help from the company and then I was chastised by the gentleman just as about me being unemployed test I was about my husband working 40 hours to us about why I did that and so told that all my stuff was stolen that I stole the stuff from someone else anyway then I received another message about a month ago which I didn't even know I got but basically explaining to me I have 4 hours to pick up my things or else okay so I'm going to get a lawyer and I'm going to sue because I lost a lifetime full of memories because of U-Haul you're in covid and I know they got stimulus money I only received one stimulus check the whole time this whole epidemic has been going on and it's just sad to know that company like this with freaking take advantage of someone like me that can't even afford to use one anyway or can afford one but not the way they made it I also lost the whole vehicle they pay me half a million dollars give me my things back maybe just maybe I will drop everything but as of right now I'm going to have a lawsuit against everyone involved except really do anything. another problem during the whole time I tried to rent the truck day by day nobody ever called me back nobody ever helped me find out anything next is like I don't know like I'm just supposed to do it automatically on my own I don't know but it's sad it really is and I'm not going to stand for I have to I have to get a lawyer because I lost everything everything because of U-Haul and now I hear my stuff is in Huntsville where I don't even live. and even after all this happened and there's nobody to talk to I can't seem to get in touch with anybody just like Darren when I had the band I tried to rent it day by day and tell them I was going to keep for another day nobody can help me apparently the system flawed and I wasn't in the system so it f'd up my whole life excuse my language. now I'm thinking retribution because I can't even I can't even do anything I have nothing because of you all and no one's going to help me except a lawyer who's going to get me back my whole life. which I'm currently in negotiations with and will soon start a case against u-haul. and I would drop the whole thing if they give me half million dollars to give him my stuff I would forget the whole thing ever happened to be my best friend and I've never seen anybody before I don't think that's the way to do things in this world but I'm going to this time because it's only way I've been done wrong so many times but this is done absolutely just incredibly wrong they might as well burn down my house and laughing and asked me for money while they watched it burn .

When I reserved a 10'x10'x30' climate controlled room; the rate I was told was $229.95, also have an email that says it. Only to get to the location yesterday after driving 7 hours with a load, the gentlemen said it was not available but there was a 10'x10'x25" climate controlled, certainly very stressed but relieved a large room as available. I asked what happened, he said someone lied to you when you made the reservation. I found out the rate for 10'x10'30' is actually $259.95. I was quoted the wrong rate and there was no 10'x10'x30'!! Why even make a reservation??

I actually moved out on March 25 and continue to receive statements claiming that I'm still using the storage unit. Furthermore the service was terrible I had a number of problems simply receiving a unit that was clean and not in use. They also had my storage unit locked when I came to move my stuff out and I had already paid.

I removed my items from the storage area on Sunday 3/14/2021..was paid up till 3/30/2021...I inform UHale that I was out but I was paid-up till the 30th...I as inform that even thought I had a credit that I could not get a refund & was now locked out of the storage area..which I feel is not fair...so I will not be recomending your services to my friends.

Everything went very well except the associate on the phone sold me a unit that was way too small for a 3 bedroom house. We had to remove what we had already put into storage get a bigger unit and start again.

Hello, I debated for a couple of days on whether to do this review. I just recently rented a storage facility (roach infested) and I have been telling the employees and now the general manager for 5 days. NOTHING has been done. I kept getting we will handle it...STILL not done. I moved in on 3/29/21 and I rented a uhaul truck on 4/2/21. Just not pleased overall with uhaul. The only reason why I am still renting the storage facility is due to it's convenience. The only helpful person was Willie. He helped me with my truck rental. Thank you Willie for your help.

After moving out of my climate controlled storage unit after 5 years, I found an abundance of rat droppings and a roach. I filed a claim and an adjuster contacted me. I was then told since I didn't have insurance through them I would need to file through my insurance company. What is my insurance company going to do about a maintenance pest problem? That is a building problem. She also told me they have no control of what people bring in and store like food. That is a terrible excuse. Within 5 years I was never contacted to change the bait box or any thing like that. I DO NOT! Do not recommend dealing with U-Haul or their insurance claim center!!

Customer service on the office was very poor. One female manager was very nice and helpful. Other staff would not acknowledge your presence and often acted if your questions and or concerns were bothersome. Needed help once and waited 90 minutes only to learn that no one was coming. This was after being told twice that staff was on their way. Access code failed several times. One to E I went down 3 times before someone came to let us in the Gaye. Neither access code nor the entry card was working. Nice place to store your belongings but staff can benefit from customer service training. Have used Uhaul in the past. Never encountered poor customer service.

I am thoroughly disappointed in Uhaul as a whole. I will not use Uhaul again & I will not recommend it to anyone. The amount of miscommunication between uhaul.com & the individual branches is incredible. It's hard to believe it that Uhaul is still operating at a profit. Customer Service is non-existent & company policies seen to change daily.

This was the worst experience ever. I am on military duty and my storage was removed without my knowledge. The account was scheduled for autopay wit no issues. The manager and staff are unprofessional. It's sad that a account was canceled when a veteran is servicing their country.

One of the biggest issues is that when you call the office phone the line is busy and you have to sit on hold for 30 minutes (or longer) or keep calling until someone answers. Also did not enjoy the fact that the elevator for my building wasn't functioning so I had to hike everything up the stairs.

Store was particularly understaffed for the amount of business. Average wait time to get helped was well over 15 minutes.

It is really nice that you have free carts to help get your stuff moved. It would be nice if there was more than one set so when there are multiple people moving more people could use them.

Was leased a storage unit that ended up still being locked and full of previous tenants belongings. Staff was helpful in getting a new unit leased to me, but in doing so wasted a few hours in trying to do so for a good half dozen guys there to help unload my 20' uhaul truck.

Very long lines, staff over worked which caused them to be rude to customers out of frustration. The storage and uhaul drop off in two different places does not help. With running back and fourth standing in line was a waste of three hours of my day. Not worth it.

Office is located at truck rental facility and gridlock occurs as parking is almost nonexistent and people leave their cars wherever they can. Luckily storage facility is a little further up the road, so you don't have to deal with that. Both office and yard personnel were extremely pleasant.

Roger at the storage facility was fantastic but the office personnel at main office were incompetent, refused to listen to what customer service had offered. I was not the only one who had problems in that store. There were several very upset people, including me, that I used and they did also choice words. No one in personnel wanted to listen to what I was told by customer service. I will never use Uhaul again. Like I said Roger at the storage facility was very helpful and aconsiderate. He should get a raise.

Over a week has gone by and still no climate control when we were promised it would be fixed the day after we moved into the unit. I contacted corporate and was assured I would receive some sort of response in 3-5 days after I contacted corporate. To date still no response. I will be moving out in the next week to an actual climate controlled facility and do not expect to see any sort of bill from uhaul corporate or the local storage facility. I also expect a truck to move my items free of charge due to breach of contract.

The cashier that helped me, was horrible. He complained the whole time he was helping me. I asked him did he need my reservation number, he told me no. But when he asked me my last name, it didn't pull up my reservation at first. I offered him the reservation number again, then he told me that he didn't even know how to put in the reservation number to find .y information. I asked was anybody else there to help him. He replied, "other people are here but no one is really helping me." So I just dismissed it. Then when I read my receipt, I mentioned to him that I had reserved a first floor climate controlled room. He told me that he just picked a random room for me. I told him that my reservation would've helped him, because I had reserved a first floor climate controlled room. Then he told me that none were available. So I just took what was given to me, but all in all, the service was HORRIBLE!!!!!! I'm willing to keep the room, but i want to be honest about the service that was rendered to me yesterday!!!!!

I called early in May to let Uhaul know I was moving out of the unit before the 21 when rent was due. On the 9th I moved out. A grounds person, a nice lady, told me to let them know at the office that I was moving. The office doors were locked at 4440 University and no one around, no note on the door, etc. I dropped my remote to the gate into the key box and left. On May 21 my account was charged AGAIN for the unit, I then drove to 4440 University and banged on the door to the office. No one came to let me in, no note on the door. I called the main number (remember each time you call that number you have to wait about 10 minutes or more to get an operator). Finally, mystery solved, I had to go do the street to 4400 (I think) University (Huntsville, Alabama) to THAT office. There I had to wait about 10 minutes or more while I went through 2 people to get the rental charge taken off my account. Please put a notice on the office door at 4440 University to tell people to go to the other office!!!! I mentioned this to the manager at the REAL office. I doubt anything is done.

This pickup location was 12 miles from the location I requested. This caused extra time and fuel expense that I would not have incurred if you had complied with my requested pickup location. There are several Uhaul locations that are closer and much more convenient. I scheduled the truck far enough in advance that you should have been able to honor my requested pickup location.

I took a late lunch to pick up a tow dolly. It took a LOT longer than I anticipated because there was only 1 employee. This wasn't her fault but it is definitely a customer service issue. The U-haul reservation experience is a nightmare. It needs an overhaul. My expectation from making an online reservation at a specific U-haul location is that the equipment that I reserve will be available at the location where I make the reservation. Otherwise what's the point of showing a specific address? When you reserve a car for pickup at the airport you don't expect to have to drive to another location to pick it up. U-haul please fix your reservation system instead of having the customer call ahead to see if the equipment is going to be available at that location.

The only problem we had was we were supposed to pickup van in Decatur and prior customer did not bring it back so they sent us to Huntsville to pick one up. When we picked it up in Huntsville we were not aware until pickup that we would not be able to return in Decatur. So after use. which consisted of driving through Huntsville to Decatur, we had to drop off furniture and then drive back to Huntsville to drop the van off. Leaving us with approximately 30 extra miles we had to pay for. The attendant apologized and told us since it was not our fault to call the 1-800 number and the probably would give a credit. and the answer 24 hrs. I have called 4 times was on hold for an extended period and then was hung up on by the computer!!!!

1-I reserved at a location in Madison and was required to drive 10 miles further into Huntsville to pick up the vehicle, costing me 20 miles extra in mileage 2-I filled the tank back up to where it was before I rented, even turning on the key to double check - but I was charged $8,5 for extra gas when I returned it. The guy who set me up with the trailer I rented was great. Courteous, helpful, zero problems there. The trailer itself was a 6x12. It evidently hasn't seen maintenance in ages, as the rod to the brake master cylinder was rusted up and the brakes didn't appear to work - the truck was doing all the stopping. The location itself is horrible, owing to the fact that there is almost zero parking lot. When I returned the trailer before they opened, there wasn't enough room to back it into a parking spot. I ended up having to remove it from the truck, and push it where I needed it to go. It rolled back and forth OK, but getting it to turn was really hard. I'd recommend getting UHaul equipment somewhere else, because this location isn't really set up for it.

I made a reservation about 5 days in advance for another uhaul location. When I received my email/text confirmation and found out that it was for this location, I called to confirm. I arrived right at 7am on Saturday and was told by the employee (I do know his name as it is on my agreement, but I will withhold it) that he sees my reservation, but he didn't have a truck for me. After I told him that I had confirmed, his reply was that "it happens sometimes". I found this to be completely unacceptable. After asking him what could be done, he remained silent and flustered for several minutes working on the computer. He then told me that he does have a truck but it has to be returned. I asked him what that meant (as I was unsure of the context). His response was to point to a truck out the window and tell me that he had only been open for a few minutes. I couldn't believe how he was acting. My dad was with me through this scenario and we were both pretty unimpressed. The employee ended up checking in a truck from a previous rental. It was very dirty on the inside which had been disclosed, but we were able to get on with our move which was the goal but seriously started off on the wrong foot. Uhaul's overall rental process seems a little unorganized as I had originally rented from a closer, more convenient location and then got bumped to this location due to availability. I would not have minded this at all had our encounter with this employee been a little more pleasant. I worked in customer service for years, so I get that it can be stressful, and that 7am is early, but our pickup experience was absolutely the worst. I will say that the lady that handled our return in the afternoon was very nice and made returning it very easy. Wish she had been there in the morning. It's not likely that I will be recommending this location. I did decide to write this though because managers do need to know how their employees treat their customers. Hopefully management will see this.
