I arrived at the Park St location where I was greeted by a guy with his hood up that couldn't be less interested that I was there, he decided he didn't like me and said the trailer was at another location that I would have to go to - half an hour through traffic each way. I then arrived at the Verona Rd location where I had to wait for the guy to finish flirting with the two women in front of me, then his system went down so had to take a picture of my DL and credit card. Then we made it out to the trailer where he hooked it up and the lights were out, so we switched to the smaller cheaper one though I got not refund on the difference. Overall horrendous experience and as though each member of staff was irritated they had to work. I might just buy a trailer to a wood them in futureCharles P.

They have in their blood to take their customer's shoes and give them the best ever advices to make them more comfortable with this particular location. When I was going more than 30mph and tried to break, the whole van shuddered. I did not have time to turn back and request another vehicle, so I dealt with it. I reported this to the clerk when I returned the van and he said he'd have it checked out.Susan K.

I don't have any suggestions on how to improve customer service as I was very pleased with it and have no complaints. Ben was amazing helpful to me and my son as we navigated our way through the first time renting a U-Haul van. He was very patient with us and answered all our questions and made us feel like we were valued and respected. Mobile pick up needs some attention. The website kept refreshing and sending me back in the pick up process. I would re-enter my info (like my phone number and my seconds contacts info) and it would say that info was already being used so i would have to make up a fake number/name in order to bypass the screen. Ultimately I had to go inside and get the truck in person. Drop off was a hassle too, the mobile app wouldn't accept the odometer reading. Very frustrating. I rented a pickup truck. Being the extra tall, 5" woman, had a very difficult time getting into the truck. Then the seat did not move up and down to help me see over the truck hood. The truck bed still had sand from the previous user. We had to wash it out before we could load our furniture. I did not want my wood to get scratched as the truck vibrated durning driving.Donna S.
We were already running late when we realized that the heat and defroster didn't work in the vehicle. It was raining and we had to use a towel to wipe the windshield and because it was pouring rain the inside of the truck was freezing with no heat. When we returned the truck we let them know, hoping to get some sort of discount for a basically not fully working truck. However, the people reviewing basically said okay and sent us on our way. That's very poor customer service in our opinion. If we wanted to freeze and not be able to see where we were going, we would have just walked with it.Kelly P.

The truck I got, which was bigger than what I reserved (which wasn't a huge deal) was not in the greatest shape. The bed of the truck was dirty and it didn't drive all that well - it sort of lurched a bit when driving it. I let the guys at the desk know when I returned it, just in case it should be checked out for safety. Will certainly rent again and we use storage at this location, just wish the truck would have been in better condition this time.Beth J.

A very good experience. The cargo van was clean and in good condition. I had imagined a lot of what ifs before starting on the trip...what if a break down? what if a flat tire? The van was in such good shape that all worries vanished as soon as I climbed aboard. The side mirrors were a very good size and well placed which made driving very safe. UHaul also provided a discount if you traveled over 300 miles -which we did. Thank you U-Haul!barbara E.
I dont know the name of the employee,but the man who helped us return our vehicle was slow to show up to the desk, rude, impatient, and had the overall attitude of someone making their hate for their job our problem. The guy who helped us rent our vehicle was a joy though.Morgan G.
The staff was very busy but very helpful. Did well. My only complaint about the entire experience was the "half full" tank. It seems a bit of a scam frankly. You need to acknowledge by signing that the truck comes with a half tank before you see the truck! Then when you go to the truck, unless you check carefully, you won't realize the truck isn't really half full. I took a photo of the gauge and went back inside to complain. Then the correct reading was adjusted on my contract. I wonder if this shorting of fuel is SOP. ? Would net U Haul million of dollars.Douglas G.

Tried to use the remote check in and even when I was standing in the lobby of the location, it told me I was in the wrong location. I was very impressed by the service I got at the Verona Road location. They received my U Box when it was transferred from Milwaukee Street in Janesville. The Janesville location sent the wrong U-Box. Verona road was apologetic (even though it wasn't their fault) made calls to locate my box, and set up a pick up. They were outstanding. The move in experience itself was poor. The directions for finding the unit should have included a letter identifying the row in which the unit could be found. The map should contain the same alphabetical row lettering as in the storage building itself. I spent a massive amount of time trying to find the unit. The unit was secured against entry, I could not open it, no one answered the phone when I called the desk, I wandered around until I found a call box, someone came and opened the unit, the provided lock did not work, I had to go to the desk to exchange the lock, the swipe access card did not work properly, and I had to return to the desk to address that. In the future, take the customer to the unit rented, make sure the unit opens, and make sure the provided lock works. Everyone was helpful, but more up-front assistance should have been provided. By having a unit(s) for a period of time, I NEVER get discounts on rentals. I used to have a large (about a year) AND a small unit (3 plus years). I must have rented 15-26' trucks and 12 foot trailers. Should be a point system or something that if you rent storage for so long you can apply the points to rentals, Most likely do not have any affinity in the future for U-Haul. U-Haul is a complete joke. 2 weeks before my move in date, I made a reservation online and received a reservation number. When I arrived at the facility I was told the unit I reserved was not available and my reservation was not really a reservation and everything is first come first serve, but what do you know they have a more expensive unit available that is smaller then what i reserved, nice way to bait and switch and to upsell. I had movers meeting me there in 30 minutes, so i had no choice. Completely unethical way to upsell people. Avoid at all costs. I made my reservation online and was told I'd get an entrance code and storage number immediately. I never received it. I called U-Haul and confirmed that my reservation was valid and they said yes. I added my nephew as an approved person to access the storage. When he arrived he was told that there wasn't a reservation. 44 minutes later, I had to do everything online again. VERY frustrating that my nephew couldn't get in quickly as we had planned. Very upset that the reservation number 'wasn't valid' then annoyed that I had to restart all over online. Phones at my storage facility are always forwarded, can't speak to anyone on time, contract was not forwarded to me, can't set up auto pay, half of the staff i speak with in person or on the phone are good, the other half have a bad attitude and are not knowledgeable or helpful. 1-initially you gave me a unit on second or third floor. I'm 50, I can't hall a couch and chair up 2 flights and down a very long hallway. I asked for a closer one and there was one available. Thank goodness. But why did I have to ask. Person should have recognized my lack of muscle power 2- my card never worked after hours 3- when closing account, I was in a hurry as I rented a pick up truck and I was being charged. My only issue was that it said it was a first floor split level. So it's on a second floor and had to climb stairs. I didn't realize that. But we were taking stuff out of our unit during access hours when no one was there and accidentally locked our keys/key card inside the building. With the low employment rate, better employees could be found. Are you under-staffed, or is every one in the break room? Do you pay them a living wage? In any case there seems to be very poor moral. Ok, the puddle in the back of the truck wasn't water, it was motor oil. I cleaned that mess up. And, are the key cards not activated? Alarms going off everywhere. An employee said don't worry. Remember, moving is very stressful. You made it worse. Also, when picking up the truck early in the morning, it was a total surprise that we needed to call someone! Unacceptable. I could go on. The U-Haul website does not make it clear that reserving a unit online only saves some basic information to your account. Reserving a unit online does not guarantee that they will have that unit available for the dates you selected. My "15 minute" check-in took one hour... and I was at the front of the line. Storage facility met our needs. My only issue is we paid for the last months rent and only used the storage unit for one week of the last month. Monthly rent should be prorated when that happens. I asked the local place and they said to call U-Haul. I called U-Haul, and they said to check with the local place. I have now been told that the rental contracts don't state that. I reserved a unit online on Monday and went in on Wednesday, the date I'd chosen to start my lease, only to be told that the unit had already been rented. What's the point of reserving a unit if the reservation doesn't mean anything? Why even bother having that feature on the website? The location was what I was looking for and the staff were helpful and patient with my frustration so I rented a similar unit upstairs but not having the original unit I signed up for was a big disappointment. Generally happy with it. While the facility is well lit, the storage unit itself is not and since we had a unit at the end, it was very dark, thus requiring us to bring a light in on each visit. The hours for access is also inconsistent with signs. You think you can access it anytime with the key card but that only opens certain doors and outer doors are locked. The unit has a mouse trap and there's definitely some rat droppings when we moved out. On our last day to move out, our unit was locked as if we did not pay the rent and we did. Someone locked my unit within two weeks of rental. I was on a deadline to move out of my house and this caused a significant delay because none of the staff could find the key to remove the lock. I've experienced long wait times when contacting the office, as well as long waits in the office despite there being an abundance of employees in circulation.
