Inside of the truck smelled like an ashtray, heavy cigarette smoke odor! Brought this to their attention, was told all trucks smell like that cause they sit out in the sun. What an insult! This was cigarette odor and very very heavy odor! Was told the facility uses that particular truck for facility use. Also, out mileage on the agreement showed 10 859 miles. Actual out mileage was 10,866. Agreement stated there was 5/16th of gas in the tank when going out. Actual amount of gas in the tank when going out was 1/4. I took pictures on my phone to document this. Agent did adjust the final invoice to reflect this, so I was told. Just disappointed they sent me out in a dirty, smoke smelling truck and made an attempt to get extra dollars out of me by not listing the correct out mileage and gas on my contract. Oh, and when I got home my wife asked if I had been smoking! Of course, I do not smoke! :)FRANK S.

The appliance dolly and the furniture pads I paid for were not in the truck when I went to pick it up. When I mentioned this a regular dolly was pointed at and I was told to "just take that one" I had to again advise that I paid for an appliance dolly. We were assigned a truck with an impaired driver's side door lock. We managed to lock ourselves out of the truck after opening the door with the key. We had to call a locksmith. Upon examination after opening the door with his specialized tools, the locksmith confirmed that the door lock was not working properly. We had to pay 180 $for his services on a Sunday night just to return the equipment on time. Would like for Uhaul to reimburse us for this expense. If my son didn't pass on his comment, I will try to for him. As a retired auto mechanic, he said something like "Around town this truck not good, but it got the job done. If I was to have taken it on the road, I would have turned around I got another on." He mentioned it was hard to steer or handled very poorly. All I know was it had to do with the front end.VARDEN V.

The entire rental process was so easy.Joe J.
We reserved a U Haul 26' truck and then received a call that it was given to someone else. We had to drive 3 hours away to pick up the next available truck. The truck that was available was a 20' so we had to leave a lot of our belongings behind. I am very unhappy with Uhaul and I won't be using them in the future.Cameron M.

1st: The contract was for the wrong size truck, then returned original truck and contract not updated with new truck information. 2nd: Being told several times there were no dolly's available, and then clerk went and got one. 3rd: Returning truck and was told the rental was free, due to the initial contract not being set up correctly. Dennis the owner helped me, and seemed to be the only one doing anything, he would run a customers info, then run outside and find the unit and help them hook up, then run back inside to help the next. By the time I left there were at least 3 more customers behind me waiting and never saw another employee. Then I was instructed to call the 1800 number when I got to my destination for drop off, he didn't say that I needed to call before 7 or id be stuck with the trailer until Monday...JUSTIN H.

The pick up and drop off were no problem. Great service people who took good care of me. However, the reservation process was terrible. I was lied to by the person I made the reservation with, told a truck would be sent to Fort Stockton for me. Then I was told I would need to drive to Pecos for a smaller truck, which was unacceptable. When I called the Abilene location I was set up for, they were not going to have a truck on the day I was promised. In fact they wouldn't have it until two days later. And then once everything got figured out...at pick up, the pick up and drop off dates were incorrect. I was also initially charged for additional miles, but Aaron at the site took care of it right away. Your "before pick up" customer service finally came through for me (Tatum did a good job fixing the errors of others), but it would all make me think very long and hard about renting from UHaul again. Please allow people to call their local location. Knew it would be very difficult to resolve my simple problem through the call center. I do realize this can cause on site problems, but perhaps certain hours or dedicated personnel to phones for an hour or so would be possible. The staff at the Abilene Uhaul is fantastic. I reserved a 5' x 5' x 4' Locker on April 5, 2021 with a May 8, 2021 move in date and Monthly Rate of 44,95 $, to store my personal items from my college dorm for the summer. When I showed up to this location on May 8, 2021 at 4pm, I was told that all of the lockers of this size were already sold and was given the option of 5' x 10' Storage Room at a monthly rate 79,00 $ or nothing. When I asked about my reservation, I was told that regardless of the reservation it was first come first serve. I have never heard that this policy was used by U-Haul and it would negate the policy of using reservations to "hold" a storage room. After waiting 2 hours, there was only 1 representative working at this time when this location was extremely busy and the representative stopped helping me and made me wait until she had helped the other 7 customers in the store before handling my situation. She ended up giving me the 5' x 10' Storage Room with 1 month free and no solution for June, July, and August.Anise M. | Premières impressions

The staff at Abilene location was not really want to discuss about what I had paid double of the rental on Nov, instead they were so rude to me. His last name was "Stone". When I went to the storage building it was full of a previous person trash left behind. They then had to clean it out so I could unload the truck I had rented from y'all. Next there is a giant mud hole the size of 5 parking spots right in front of my storage building. I left word that you can't get into my unit with out walking in 4" deep water. * No clear instruction on how to gain access to unit before arriving at facility. Had to stand in line for literally an hour (only two other customers ahead of me) to speak to an employee while my moving labor waited outside on the clock. * Employee claimed the online reservation process was pointless, as they only operated under first-come-first-serve. What is the point of reserving a unit through U-Haul if you aren't guaranteed to get it??!! Thankfully a unit was available, but was on the second floor and had no elevator. * After getting my lock and unit number, I had to find an employee to unlock the unit as it still had a "customer-ready" lock on it. * The automatic sliding door by the unloading area was broken. Could only open it by literally pulling the doors apart. I get that I could've arrived on a particularly busy day, and the facility seemed to be very under-staffed. Even so, there needs to be a better process for handling simple equipment returns and storage unit reservation retrievals that doesn't involve waiting in line for an hour as one customer plans their entire move with the only available staff. Overall my experience with every aspect of U-Haul aside from the actual truck rental has been very confusing, and made our move extremely stressful.TERRY T. | Online Move In
