When I confirmed with the delivery person I was asked if I needed furniture covers but declined them as I didn't need them. So I was surprised to see 12 bads. Not only do I have to ship my stuff I now have to ship yours and leave 12 boxes here because although I was talking nobody was listening.

What can U-Haul do to improve? -- Prevent future nationwide IT issues that compromise the schedules, plans, and lives of renters. -- Maintain vehicles better. My U-Haul was dirty, inside and out. NOT SANITIZED. The roll-up door got stuck while we had a truck full of belongings packed and sitting in a loading zone before rush hour.

There is an outstanding Customer Action claim directly related to the horrific, dangerous and negligent experience that I had when I rented from this location. HORRIBLE.This issue was not resolved on the local level. The manager went around and around without taking responsibility for an unsafe vehicle. He kept asking if I noticed anything unusual when I did the walk around…that is a huge liability leaving it up to the consumer to assume that a truck is safe just by walking around it. He was rude and condescending and from what I heard on the phone with him, he didn't understand nor empathize with the gravity of the issue. Then he kept insisting that the tire damage was from a curb since the tire treed was “fine"… which 1) is not true with this truck and I told him the tires were old, 2) how does he explain the tires on BOTH sides of the truck having issues and had to be replaced along a busy fwy and 3) I have witnesses who were driving behind me from the time I left the U-Haul lot until we luckily pulled over to the side of the fwy on the 201 Eastbound. I also returned the truck early and did not complete my move since I was unsure of the trucks safety. I'm not paying for this rental. If it weren't for the person following me, the outcome would have been catastrophic. However, I see that I was charged full price for this. I will be happy to let everyone I know on social media as well as my friends at ABC and NBC news know about the way this matter was treated.

the owner Ken is EXTREMELY RUDE that pissed me off just because I was10-15 minutes behind a d forgot my key the the lock, I opened it eventually but he was very UNPROFESSIONAL AND YELLING. The employees are super helpful though

For personal use and business use I've used UHaul locations for 20 years. This was the most helpful, personable, worked hard to get me taken care of. Had an issue with the lights on my hitch and they figured out the parts, called the other location to set me up. I was with my son and they were so kind to him, engaged him as a customer and gave him a UHaul truck that he loves and sits on his school desk. I have not encountered a location with such high regard for their customers. I witnessed this with the other customers I saw them work with. Having 20 years in the service industry I know good leadership and service when I see it.

This location came to the rescue after the Burbank location failed to have my 20” truck (reserved/guaranteed) available at 10am. I would have been left without a moving vehicle if it weren't for this Atwater place. They were awesome.

The lock was a little hard to pull off of the back. Also the screening process involving passport, an alternate contact, or lease agreement should happen long before pickup day. If i picked up at a time when people were asleep i would not have been able to use a contact as a reference and thus would have been stuck without a truck.

Your reservation process should allow employees to simply assign a truck when your phone app reservation system FAILS. We had to wait close to 30 minutes for a phone app approval. LOSE THE PHONE APP, it is worthless and a waste of time!

First of all the person in charge was so unprofessional, he needs to go to get some advice how to treat customers the right way, without attitude and kind of discrimination, some body needs to show him the right way how to treat the customer, l think he didn't treat me right because of my accent or he didn't like me at all? well, you need to do something about this gentleman.

The only issue we had were all the changes made the day before - two different pickup locations than what we booked, different times then we had booked setting back our move by hours, locations not communicating with each other and getting multiple calls for issues I thought we had already settled.

I went into this location after making a reservation online for mobile pickup/checkout but had to go inside after their website asked me to upload a photo of my passport which I didn't have on me. The woman behind the counter told me that I could just enter an alternate number and it would let me go to the next screen and then guided me through the process by telling me to just keep clicking through the rest of the screens until my reservation was submitted for approval. I was approved and told to go out to my truck and unlock the cab with the code provided. I came back inside once I realized I didn't know which truck was mine, the screen with this info was one of the ones the woman told me to click past- and I was now greeted by the manager who had replaced her. When asking for help to figure out which truck was mine the manager then began belittling me for clicking past the screen with my truck info, telling me that I was stupid for not going out and checking which truck was mine and calling me by my last name condescendingly. At this point the woman shows back up and is clearly too afraid to admit her mistake to this tool of a manager (understandable) and kept looking to the floor every time I asked her to tell him the truth about her instruction. The manager then begins walking me to the truck without his mask still belittling me the whole way pointing out the letters on the top of the truck that we're to be found on the screen I was told to click past. Upon my exit, I could hear the manager yelling at this poor employee asking her if she told me to click past the screen. These are confusing times- I'm a late twenty something who doesn't have a hard time figuring out these things usually, but this location needs to be retrained in how to guide customers through their new processes and how to treat people with respect. If anyone with sway at this location is reading this, I sincerely hope that you reconsider your employment of the manager in question (working at 9:30am on 9/18/20) as he clearly has a negative affect on customer relations and the mental well-being of his employees.

The Covid precautions were overkill. I stood 6 feet away from the owner who was behind plexiglass and when I pulled my mask down to be understood, he said, "DON'T REMOVE YOUR MASK!!" Then, I was handed my paperwork with a pole that could grab. The whole thing seemed comical. Otherwise, we got the truck and moved so at least we're out of the ridiculous state of California. So sad.

I had the worst experience renting a truck from Uhaul. First, I had a 'guaranteed reservation' for a truck in Fremont 2 days before was told there would not be a truck available, then I had another 'guaranteed reservation' in Treasure Island location but was told again there was no truck available the day before my move, then had another 'guaranteed reservation' for a truck in Sonoma, but was told someone changed the reservation time from 8 am to 2:30pm, so finally I had another 'guaranteed reservation' for a truck in Vallejo. I had no other choice but to pick up a truck in Vallejo the morning of my move because I had movers already paid for and could not delay my move. I had to drive 35 miles to Vallejo, then 35 miles back to San Francisco to load up the truck. Not knowing if I would have a truck 1-2 days before my move created great stress and wonder if others have had the same experience. I attempted to reach someone at the Vallejo location 3 times, and never an answer. I was on hold the first time for 40 minutes, the second time 30 minutes, the 3rd time for 20 minutes! I ended up driving all the way to Vallejo, hoping when I arrived there would not be a 4th cancellation!

Customer service agent is extremely rude to people at the facility and on the phone, cuts people off mid sentence, he's demeaning and condescending! I reserved a motorcycle trailer to be told days later they don't have one but had a similar trailer available and up charged me for not having the right equipment! I was forced to pay my last month in full even though I only used the storage for 1 week. This is why you are getting this review. I should not have to pay for space and time I did not use. That is unacceptable and you should refund me the difference. Roches in the facility but not in my unit thank God. I have pictures. There were a lot of Ants in my unit.. staff me ever said they have issues with rats but that’s why traps are in each unit...
