Ricardo H. | Expérience généraleI told staff I had big furniture they gave me a small unit I wasn’t able to fit a lot of my belongings in it I called for reservations ahead of time and was put in my daughters name for a truck and storage unit they couldn’t find my name or no# so I had to go rent a truck from Boston ave while my reservations was in my daughters name and # because her name popped up on ur system now I don’t know what to do with half my stuff because the movers are not trying to move me again I had to loose a 65 in tv that broke on the pull down door I’m so upset about this experience but ur staff really needs to stop rushing and get people information correct so this doesn’t happen again and they still haven’t called me to see if they can put my other stuff in and they told me last night they will get back to me today so I gotta find somewhere to put the rest of my stuff!

She did not give me a chance by looking for me or call me. After I came out from the bathroom, I showed her the picture before and after, then she finally fixed her mistakes.

sal t. | Premières impressionsCounter people should understand customer's perception of service is reflected upon non verbal cues as well as verbal. Picking up the phone while you've already started to interact with someone in front of you before the call came in is rude. It's even worse when you don't make eye contact and acknowledge that the customer in front of you is waiting, and you know they are waiting, instead you leave that customer wondering if they are going to be helped again because the phone call is obviously more important.

The check in online took 20 minutes to complete and I don't know why it didn't allow me to prefill in things like my license ahead of time and just literally do the check in part that day. It was also hard to find the first vehicle. When I clicked I couldn't find it, the second one has the aisle and row and number and that one was easy to find. I wish the key had been in it to just go though because at that point I learned I had to go inside and there was a long line.

All and all a very hands-on crew but over worked like most service locations due to lack of qualified candidates to fill vacancies.

Christina M.Where do I start: first of all I called early to insure the trailer I was supposed to pick up was available and ready. I was assured over the phone it was and that was not the case. I arrived and while trying to complete the digital contact signature process and get a picture of my license in the uhaul app, the tech failed to work repeatedly. They took pictures of my license on several phones including store employees and supposedly the managers spare phone before the app worked. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable knowing I was handing over credit card info and pictures of my license were being taken on complete strangers phones. After over a half hour trying to get uhaul tech to cooperate we finally were taken across street to hook up the car dolly and while checking lights on the trailer we were told repeatedly our truck had a problem by the employee who obviously new nothing about testing equipment. When we proved it was not our truck that had the problem for her and it became clear the light on the trailer we were supposed to take had an issue, she had us disconnect and was going to have us take the other dolly that was sitting available. However, she was told that dolly could not go out of state which is what my rental was for. What does it matter which trailer goes where! Don't they all belong to uhaul! Then the manager decided to get involved and came out of her office with an extremely poor demeanor and bad attitude and was speaking as though she was angry at us. She made us hook back up to the same trailer we had just confirmed had and issue with the employee and after we connected a second time and she wasn't satified that our truck didn't have a problem she started jerking on our trailer plug because she couldn't get the trailer extension wire off and when we tried to help she snapped very rudely at my friend, stating,"I have to do my job". And after all this she had to remove the light we determined was the problem in the first place! This entire process took more than 2 hours and made my friend and I extremely uncomfortable and forced us to load our car in the dark and rain which should never have been the case. My responce to that manager and Uhaul is if she had done your job properly in the 1st place that trailer would have been ready to go when we arrived and we could have been out of there in less than a half hour! No one can tell me that light came disconnected while sitting on the lot! It was dropped off that way and never inspected! I have managed equipment and there is no excuse for this happening! On top of this I only used this trailer about 2,5 days and was told if it was returned early I'd get a prorated refund. I see now in the contract you expect me to pay for the rest of the seven days that I didn't need. This practice is absolutely unacceptable to me and I suspect if I talked to my attorney it's borderline illegal but you hide it in your contract and your employees lie about refunding the unused time. I'll finish with this: If myself or anyone I know ever needs to rent equipment I will make sure they do not choose uhaul unless your company at a minimum offers some form of refund in line with what I was told for the nonsense that transpired due to uhaul's employee's negligence and an assurance this is not normal practice for this company! Thank you for your time! I hope this helps fix some evident issues at the branch I picked up from!

How could you have only one person on a holiday weekend? The woman was obviously new and she was having trouble setting up my rental. I had 2 men waiting outside that I was paying and they had to sit in the car and wait. The woman told me all my transactions had to be done through my cell phone via text messages. She was very kind and apologetic so I was not going to complain. She asked me if I had a lock and I told her that I had a combination lock. After the reservation was complete I started to work and we put things in the storage unit. Today I'm on my way back home I said let me run by the store and pick up some things. I found a lock on my door. I asked at the desk they told me I had to use specific u-haul lock So they pad locked my storage space. I couldn't get in. Again there is one woman behind the desk and a long line of people waiting. I guess that's what u-haul does all the money people are spending to rent these spaces and there's only one person to help a long line of people. What I don't understand if everything has to be done via text message if you have a contact number for me and you text me to set up a contract why not text me and tell me that you put a lock on My space? Why do I have to find out when I get there what you dit I have been at this space for 24 hours and I am not happy and I am getting my stuff out of here as soon as I can. If you use text messages to conduct business then you should use text messages to extend customer service.

She went out to the trailer and installed the required safety equipment promptly and effectively without any issues. She didn't complain about the task at hand just did it with a beaming smile.

I didn't want to touch those items because of contamination and I gave key to the staff. So they can discard these items. Staff name is Ashley. She told me not to contact the insurance company but they will cover all the damage made to my property but she had stop communicating with me, did not reply to my emails. On top of that they did nothing to remove the damaged property from the storage and keep charging me rent for the damaged property which was in the storage. I had paid them rent from March of 2021 to October of 2021. I want my rent back plus the money for my damaged property.

I would have at minimum a thirty minute wait time before I would get a live body on the line at it be the answering service of the national answering service, I would ask to patched through to the local pine street, Bridgeport, CT office and I would be again be on a longer looong wait time before giving up.

Rodent infestation was so bad that they got into my suits, only after I opened up the bags after already moving that a mouse jumped out and ran under the sink. Now I have to spend extra money to get the mouse out. If I knew the situation was going to be this bad, I would've used a different storage.

ELAINE J. | Premières impressionsI am writing to you to express my disappointment with the customer service I experienced while at the UHaul location in Bridgeport, CT. I made a reservation for an 5x8 storage unit online for $104,95/month starting 6/26/21. This reservation was made a week before check in. I arrived on 6/26 to check in, Ashley Quiles was the one behind the desk. The store was busy and she was moving very fast. While waiting in line for over 20 minutes, I witnessed her speak rudely to her coworkers and reprimand them in front of customers for using the bathroom. She was impatient with customers and was barely doing the bare minimum to help. When it was finally my turn, she did not make eye contact and continued to speak extremely quickly. I asked her several times to repeat herself or to clarify what she was saying. When it was time to pay, my total was over $120, so I asked her to break that down, as the reservation I made was $104.95. She rolled her eyes and said that it was tax. When I asked her to clarify why there was over $15 of tax, she said very matter of factly replied that was not true. I explained that the reservation I made was for $104.95, she first said that I made a reservation for the first floor, but there were no units left and I had to go on the second floor which would increase the rate. (she had just given away the last first floor unit to the couple in line in front of me). When I challenged that the reservation I made was not being honored, she got very snippy with me and then told me that the rates had gone up. I asked why I had been able to make a reservation at a lower rate and why that rate is not being honored. She was unable to answer the question and was clearly getting annoyed, so I cut my losses and agreed to the higher rate. I went to access the unit, her directions left much to be desired on how to gain access. Upon leaving, I decided to take the stairs. There was no sign on the door of the stairwell indicating that would be a problem.. When I got to the first floor and tried the door, it was locked. Come to find out, I was locked in the stairwell. I tried calling the office, no answer. I tried banging on the doors to get back into the storage area, no response. I tried all of the doors, but could not get out. Ultimately, I had to use the "Emergency Exit Only" door to get out, after spending 20-30 minutes trying to get out. When I returned in August to collect my belongings, I arrived to find two "Wet Floor" signs in front of the elevator. Assuming that someone had just mopped the floor, I got in, only to find that I could not press the button. I used the intercom to speak with the front desk and asked what was going on with the elevator. I was met with exasperation that I would even ask such a question. She acted like I should have known that Wet Floor signs were equal to a broken elevator. After getting nowhere over the intercom, I went over to the main office to see if I could chat with someone and find another way to get to my unit. I was met by Ashely and her rudeness again. She repeated several times, "Like I told you the elevator is not working." I asked if I could use the stairs, she said they were not accessible, when I asked her to clarify, she was unable. When I explained that the stairwell is perfectly usable, as I had already used it once, but needed someone to open the door, she tried to tell me that there are signs saying its for emergency exit only. That was not the case. (There are no signs, and either those doors should be unlocked or signs should be placed IMMEDIATELY. That stairwell is USAFE and a hazard to all of your customers if you are not going to unlock it.) I asked if there was any kind of estimate of when the elevator would be fixed, Ashley was unable to give me any kind of estimate, and was rude throughout the encounter, treating me like I was dumb. I called Eagle Elevator, I asked the operator if they were able to give an estimate, she said the call had come in about 30 minutes earlier and estimated the technician would be at the facility within the hour. And within the hour the technician showed up. When I went to check out of my unit, there were no employees in the store. The woman outside on her smoke break came in to find someone else for me so she could smoke her cigarette. The customer service (or lack thereof) I experienced in working with Ashely was inexcusable. I am in my twenties, I have worked in the service industry. I understand that it is challenging and employees are underpaid. Service employees have one of the most challenging jobs and I acknowledge that. However, a simple apology could go a long way. "I'm sorry, the elevator is not working today. I made a call to the company and they are going to send a technician at their earliest convenience. Unfortunately they did not give me a time estimate, let me call them back and see what I can find out." As a company, you need to provide your employees with better training.

TIMOTHY R. | Expérience généraleThe staff (owner and mother, I presume) did not appear to care about their customers. They came across as rude and wasted a lot of my time bickering with one another. Two other employees were kind and helpful, but, unfortunately, they were not wearing name tags so I cannot commend them directly. The unit I reserved was not correct, meaning I had to get a different unit that was more expensive, just for that price to increase a month later. Not sure if it was the system or the employee, but my autopay was incorrectly setup and I had to dispute late fees that were wrongly applied. When I finally moved out, most of my items were covered in rat droppings and urine. I will likely have to pay to get my mattress professionally cleaned or throw it out and buy a new one. I further experienced even more issues with the moving truck experience, but will leave that out as this is about the unit itself.
