To start, I had a very poor experience starting with the S. 20th street Uhaul location in South Philadelphia about 2weeks ago. Customer service is very difficult to get through. On hold very lengthy times until I got a prompt to leave my # for a call back which was very helpful. I called Saturday early evening. I spoke with a customer service representative to extend my rental truck another evening. When I was talking to the representative, she was having a conversation with someone in her background. Obviously, she was working at home. She never updated the records to change the rental to the Bristol Durham Rd location or to extend the rental another day? Never taken care of.. Very sad customer service!! Mark at the Bristol Durham Rd. Was very exceptional and caring regarding my rental needs on Friday evening, I was in a last minute dismay.. When returning the recently truck to the Bristol Durham location, I was able to meet Mark in person. I wished to personally thank him for his professionalism and helping me.. Amazing works there. I would hope someone from corporate to contact me regarding my concerns and discomfort regarding the other situations. That was not exceptable.. Thank you.. Joel M. This location was amazing however the rest of our experience was horrible. Our pickup location was changed 3 times. I was told I never confirmed reservation, when I called 2 days prior to confirm pickup location. You were supposed to call me if location changed. Hours on hold trying to get information about where our truck was going to be. Was told at one point that the truck â€˜mightâ€ be there when we were to pick it up. The location was perfect! Our reservation was a nightmare! It was not the fault of anyone at the store, the actually did everything they could to help. They couldn't get our reservation to checkout in the computer. This resulted in a HUGE delay in us leaving and set off an entire series of setbacks the rest of the weekend.KENNETH G.
I had reserved 2 furniture dollies. They had none. I had also reserved a 15 ft truck. They called me the day before my reservation to inform me that they might not have a 15 ft truck available, and asked me if I would take a 10 ft truck instead. I told them no, because I needed a 15 ft truck. Thankfully they had a 15 ft available when I went to pick it up. Otherwise I would not have been able to move all my mom's stuff who had just passed away from Covid. The 15 ft truck was packed to the door. That really upset me. They indicated in a text that I had made a "Last minute reservation," which was untrue. I had made my reservation a week before. While I was at the same location later that evening putting my mother's stuff in the storage bin I had also rented from them, I stepped on a long yellow metal horizontal pole they had that is intended to keep the dollies from going into the parking lot. It had been raining and it was wet. I stepped on it not thinking about it with items in my hands, and fell face first onto the concrete a step below. It shook me up. I couldn't get up for a few minutes. It hurt really bad. I bled from my face. I now have a black eye with scrapes all over my face. I also have two severely bruised knees that also bled. The yellow metal beam should have rough grips on them. They should not be so slippery. There was also orange cones blocking off part of the entrance to the storage bins with tape on them blocking part of the entrance, which was why I took the route I did, and ended up falling and really severely injured. I did not go to the hospital however because I was on a time limit. I had to have all of my mom's belongings out of her apt before the next day, or I definitely would have. Make sure the people over the phone can see what equipment is available at the rental location when making changes to a reservation. Asked for a dolly with my order several days before pickup, but one wasn't available when I picked up the truck. Was told they were out but they could give me a different kind. Also, develop your system better for your employees. They were trying to remove the missing dolly from my order, but then weren't able to due to it fighting them. I was then charged for the dolly I never got (twice), the appliance dolly I did get, and also a missing equipment fee for the dolly I didn't get that I had to call and get resolved.Eugene D.
I was helping my sister with her move. I live on the west coast and my sister on the east coast, so it was a challenging situation during the pandemic. Katie, the manager of this location, was extremely helpful throughout the process. Her follow-up and communication was exceptional. Even though I made the reservation on line to pick up van at 10:00 a.m. I didn't get on the road until 10:30 due to employee on phone and one employee sitting at computer offering no help. The employee who assisted us in the morning was beyond friendly and treat my partner with the upmost respect. I forget her name i belibe it was Amy. And was blonde and super nice We were told to being the vehicleback before 8 if we wanted to speak to an employee. All I wanted to know was our final bil costl. I was walking towards the door and an employee saw me coming g and proceeded to lock the door; the time was 7:50. I understandstand the man was trying to leave but he had two pairs of customers in there as well. I just did not appreciategetting the door locked and he made eye contact with me and locked the door any ways. I just found it rude and I was completely dumbfounded. No clear direction on moving in. Where to go or what to do. Was given locker #, code (not needed apparently) and told lock was in unit. That was it. Went to locker and saw a small tag on it that it was ready for user. Thought okay, cut it off and an alarm went off like we did something wrong. Nobody around to help or explain so just went about business. Alarm did go off so hoping everything was fine. Also directions on where to park are nonexistent on premises. I found my locker # on map easily but when you pull into complex there is a wrong way sign where you think you are to go to get behind building. So I keep driving to the end where I think it is going to dead end but realize I can actually get behind the building that way. Then when leaving I attempt to go out the way I thought I couldn't get in at (assuming 1 way, but again no signage) and then I see the do not enter sign is also facing the other way. Are you not supposed to enter or exit at the top of the complex? Only go in and out at the end of the complex? Very confusing. I reserved a 26 foot on Sunday along with a storage unit, called on Tuesday morning to move up my pick up time only to be told they didn't have my reservation and there was no 26 foot available so I received a 20 foot. I reserved a truck maybe a month before we moved. When we went night of our reservation the truck wasn't reserved for us. We had to wait until the next morning to get it. This set us back so much that we had to keep the truck an extra day when it could have been returned sooner. I called to let them know and how I wasn't happy and all the guy said was that he would make a note of it in there for the manager. Well when it came time to return it I got charged full price still. Pretty crappy situation to not give someone some money off for all the trouble we went thru. Then on top of all of that there was food stuck on the ramp part, dolly was missing and a freaking gigantic ass booger on the steering wheel!! This location and the person who checked us in was great! However, we spoke with someone prior to pick up in regards to the reservation and she was rude and unhelpful. I called to check on the status of a cargo rental and without explaining why, she cancelled one of our trucks which was not part of the order or why I called in the first place. She would not address why I called (cargo rental), but rather, cancelled the truck and hung up when I asked for a supervisor. Completely unprofessional and had us scrambling to figure out our move when we thought we were all set.Melissa J.

A couple of things I forgot to ask which I felt should have been advised to me without asking - what type of gas to put in and how to deal with EZ-Pass. Otherwise I strongly recommend U-Haul to others.NIGEL A.
My unit was broken into by a homeless person living in the unit next to mine. Almost all of my belongings were stolen. There were many things if sentimental value in the unit along with about 4 000 $. Of items. A police was filed . The told us that they were called on other occasions to evict the women. U-Haul has pretty much told me that they are not liable or willing to help and I need to deal with the police. This is unacceptable for a company as large as U-Haul. Which is why I chose them in the first place. Obviously that decision was of no value. I can not replace the sentimental items ever but I should compensated for my other valuables which I don't have the funds to replace. U-Haul should be accountable for who has access to the storage buildings. Especially since they knew that a homeless individual was living in there!Janet A. | Expérience générale

My items were damaged while inside my uhual unit TWICE! This storage is dirty; there's mice and bugs here. There were mice droppings and countless other damages to my items. Even staff members stated how they don't know clean this facility properly which is why there's bugs and mice inside of the units. DISGUSTING! The managers were absolutely NO HELP what so ever. This location has got to be one of the nicest storage facilities I have ever visited. The entire facility feels like it is brand-new and well maintained. The indoor parking for the storage unit is a nice plus. The climate controlled zone was nice and cool even on a hot summer day.
