The guy at the counter told me to unlock lockbox 6, which seemed weird. He gave me the code... Then I went outside, and there was no lockbox 6. I return inside, and he says, 'Oh, try 5'. So I opened it and got the key, walked to the truck and... its the wrong key.... I go back inside and tell the guy; he says, 'Oh my bad,' and we walk outside together after I ask him to please be sure. He opens lockboxes 4, 3, and 2 before getting the right key out of 2. Next, the same guy was still there when trying to return the vehicle. He was outside helping someone else fill propane or something - anyway - I pulled up, waiting in the truck as the signs instructed me to, and he walked inside the building. I get out and walk up to the door, which is locked. It's 5:03 pm, and they close at 5. I was already here in the car waiting for a few minutes and I am 100 % confident he saw me. This means I was forced to do the online return, which was a wildly inconvenient experience within itself. Aside from that, these trucks clearly never get cleaned. There was black residue on the wheel and various knobs for the AC etc. I ended up using a wet wipe that I had to clean it off a bit.

Yes I was in a hurry had to drive from Johnson city to Bristol to get an it dog hair an dog food all in it an all that was done was didn't get charged a cleaning fee. I believe I should have gotten some of my money back cause I dine had dog hair all over me,an the back of uhaul was dirty

Joel and his team are just awesome, I recently lost my son and I was devastated and they certainly cared and certainly helped me get through a process of being able to hang on. They worked with me on changing my day or pay. They really are nice people.

I reserved a utility dolly, and they didn't have it in stock. Offered an appliance dolly instead. The tank has 1/4 tank when picked up. The app didn't work to take pictures during pick up. During drop off the app didn't work again. Had to manually drop off the key according to the app instructions. I was then called the next 2 days asking why I had not turned it in it and I turned it in before the scheduled return time. The second voicemail that was left threatened to call the cops and report it stolen! I called and the rep told me the keys were hung on the wall behind him. They attempted to charge me over $200 and $60 in 2 different transactions. This place did nothing right in this reservation.

They went above and beyond by explaining how to use the system and and how to find my storage building. I believe their names were Noah and Matt or Nate. They were very nice and professional.

*My complaint is with UHaul* We drove from TN to Lake Wyle with trailer to help our son move to Florence SC. He rented a lg truck in NC & our plan was to put the items from our rental trailer into his rented truck & drop off the trailer there in Lake Wylie. After arriving, we realized the items we had would not fit in the truck with his items that he had loaded. I called to change my destination drop off of the trailer (which I had for another 24 hours) & was told that I would be charged rent times 2 for this change! So UHaul charged me more money for something that I already paid for. I can understand the charge if I did not notify them of the change or didn't return it in time, but I did! To avoid the double charge, we returned trailer in Lake Wylie & rented it again for Florence. STILL HAD TO PAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS. I've been a long time customer & am not happy now.

The management and staff of the facility have been exceptionally kind, pleasant, and were always willing to help me in any way they could. I find it appropriate to suggest that U-Haul Corporate issue a commendation to this location as they always meet, exceed, and go beyond in meeting customer needs. Joel is a talented and skilled manager. He doesn't simply manage but surpasses that in his being a leader and guide to his staff. His employee, Todd is a shining example of Joel's success. Todd hasfrequebyly met my particular needs in a being a customer. He has met a few very unconventional need I have had and put in motion his sharp problem solving skills and found solutions. I appreciate and I'm grateful for everything that U-Haul on W. State St. has done for me over the course of my two or three years of doingbusiness with.them. They get a gold star.

Well I want to start out with there was no list of rules and regulations handed out from the word go. And two the staff they need to go to school and learn what customer service is all about. And three they change the access hours to the storage building at any given time they would change it I mean I got pictures I don't know exactly the timeline on how they would change it how fast whatever but it will change it seem like from I want to say month to month if not ever 2 months to change. I am now this is directed to corporate you know sometimes people run into a little hard spot and a little bit late on paying something it was as long as you got your money and get your money for the end of the calendar year it doesn't hurt to work with people from you know they might be a little bit short you know what I'm pay you so much in catch you up for about a month or whatever as long as it all caught up by the end of the calendar year but you people won't work nobody you let greed get in your way and I can understand not doing it for people with the poor payment history with you as far as not paying you at all but if somebody's making Force the effort to pay go to work with just a little bit I mean it ain't going to kill you as long as I said you get your money in full by the end of the calendar year. And you got one business day to get your stuff out of our unit well sometimes you got to find help somebody you know to help you not just threatening you know one day then I'm going to lock you out and throw your stuff out like I got threatened at that facility and you're to give a discount instead of raising the rent for people that pay their bill.

My experience with customer service at this location was very good. The two gentlemen who helped me were nowledgeable, friendly, helpful, professional. My only issue was with the truck I rented. While driving it there was a constant smell of burning rubber that was annoying. When I returned it I made the representative aware. I will say the truck was clean. Other than that I would recommend this location.

The fuel level and mileage were both incorrect on the truck. In addition, when I went to my storage unit at the same facility it was locked with a red lock from the facility although my storage was paid for the month. Also, when I arrived at the return location in Johnson City, TN the representative was very helpful and even informed me I could've saved money by choosing a local rental option instead of one way option. He asked if the Bristol location informed me of this option, in which they did not. I was also only given the bare minimum amount of miles which ended having to pay an additional amount of miles over because I could not locate the return center. It was not a pleasant experience and I will not go back to the Bristol, TN location for moving needs in the future. I also think U-Haul should prorate rent if you move out of storage unit early.

You can't get into your facility after 10 PM some of us work hours that don't allow us to work until later later around our storage units. Also, the pricing is quite outrageous as opposed to a lot of storage facilities in the area

I reserved van to help move my stuff and when I went in to pick it up, I was told that if I paid by debit card, there would be $100 deposit held on my card as well however I was told I paid with cash that I could just give them $100 and come back and get the difference when I return the van Upon getting them The cash I was there told that they would not take cash for the van. The only way that I could use that was to get a truck so to move what would've easily fit in a 9 foot van I ended up having to pay for a 20 foot truck cost me more than $30 extra due to being lied to in the beginning not only was this one case that I had to deal with the pricing on the storage units had went up from what I was originally told as well and I just simply wanted away from them and find something that was cheaper 24 hour access and dealing with people who were honest

I was very very disappointed in this rental! The guy which was Shawn M. that checked out my husband (Johnny Joyce) that I sent to pick up the uhaul! First of all he did not verify the place again with my husband that we were supposed to drop it off which was stated in the reservation. He had me dropping it off in Tenn somewhere - for whatever reason I do not know - when the reservation clearly states we were to drop it off in Buford Ga - I have receipts of all this! This guy Shawn - who clearly did not do his job sure caused me a lot of heart ache!! I stayed at the u haul drop off in Buford Ga for about an hour and talked to 4 different people that night and was switched around everywhere not knowing if I could drop off this u haul at my correct drop off place or not. I was on the phone the following day which was Tuesday Nov, 12 still trying to make sure it was ok that I have left it there because I didn't want to be charged an extra fee as the paper stated! I really hope someone listens to the phone calls and knows all the things I had to endure for this rental experience all because someone did not do their job correctly!! Clearly I'm not sure where his mind was on Sunday Nov 10!! I would greatly appreciate someone taking the time to check all of this terrible situation and all the anguish it caused me. I was literally crying on the phone the next day twice - I had two melt downs because each person would tell me something different and several different phone calls! One person would say "yes" its checked in and call back a little later to make sure everything is ok - when I called back that person would say no its not checked in and send me to another number or tell me to call another number. Then finally one guy would take my complaint and said I may hear something by Friday? I feel all I went through with this mess that I should have never gone through - I deserve a "FULL" refund - Something that should have been so simple turned into a nightmare for me. I rented a 15 ft truck that was supposed to be 29,95 per day. They charged me 160 saying was for a deposit and such. We saw we were gonna need it another day and called them to make sure all was ok, told them it may even be later in the evening the next day that we returned it, guy said yeah no problem. We got a call from another uhaul from an 855 area code BEFORE it was due back on the original date saying it was due back that day. Told them I had already called my local uhaul and they know and gave the go-ahead that we could rent an additional day. We returned the uhaul the next evening (around 8pm) after we had cleaned it all up and the next day instead of issuing me a refund to my card they tried to bill my card almost another 60!!! I thankfully keep my card locked or they would have charged me well over 200 on a rental that should have cost 60!!!! I wouldn't recommend uhaul at all!

I was supposed to have a 26' truck ready at 8am. Scheduled a week ahead of time. Arrived at 8am to find a truck was not assigned to me. Had to wait for the store to open at 9am. The store opener didn't come in, so an employee had to call the gm to get in a side door. I got the truck at 9:30am, but without the dolly that I ordered because none were left for me despite reserving one. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Very disappointed, every 3 months it seemed that my units were going up 5$ - 10$ without notice. The app need to be adjusted to stop automatically putting you on auto pay everytime you just make a payment. Even tho I would unchecked the box for auto pay. I shouldn't have to do that every month for three years. The late fees were assigned at 12am in the 5 th day. So techniquely when it shud be by end of business day on the 5th. So sometimes my pay isn't in my acct by the 5th so I would have to pay late most months. And with the units being charged up every 3 months then you increase the late fees as well, it just doesn't make sense to use your company. I moved out of my units after 3 yrs and moved into another company that actually is 50 more but TWICE the size. Will not recommend. My mother in FL did the same thing . Moved because of the increase and app putting her on auto pay.

Everything was great except the loading and unloading truck bays were filthy. We were the first ones in that morning and had to sweep them out. Nails, screws, trash every where! Storage area had trash too!

I paid for 24 hour access to storage, I was assured that I had it, and I needed to have it to stay on my moving schedule. I didn't get it. I was locked out after 10:00. This mistake set me back. It's a major inconvenience. I called customer service and there was nothing they could do. Please adjust my level of entry per my contract. Craig Streetman

I have worked in the self-storage business and I can honestly say I was blown away by the people and facilities. The move was stressful (no surprise to anyone) and I called a couple of times along the way. The staff continued to reassure me that my unit would be available even if I was later than expected. The one area of potential improvement was the wait time on the phone due to activity levels. I consider that an HQ problem and not local staff.

Lights were out above my unit and I complained to the local staff for weeks and even emailed and complained to Uhaul to no avail. This created not only an inconvenience but also a safety hazard. I always had to bring along a light when accessing my unit; this was an unacceptable experience

This last visit there was a new young man that helped me I have never seen he was exceptional at assisting me and helping me to get started with a larger unit. I was disappointed and not the first time another employee was outside on their phone. Sometimes they are out there with a girlfriend instead of being inside assisting customers. Does not seem very professional.

The alarm goes off much to often and you have to swipe your card over and over to get it to shut up. There is no time to actually move stuff in or out without the alarm going off! They also refuse to prorate if you leave even 1 day into the next billing cycle. Very rude employees.

The only reason I marked the facility was not clean was because of the entry door area. The tenants had left unwanted junk and trash in this area from their units and the floor was sticky with a brown substance the last time I was there. Past those doors, the facility was really clean. Maybe it would help to have some sort of bigger trash can close to the front entry doors.

The guys who work here are friendly and knowledgeable. Everything with our move in and out went smoothly. Only thing that could make it better would be a loading dock that lines up with the height of a truck or van for loading and onloading heavy items. Come to think of it, they may have and we just didn't see it. I really liked that they have a room for people to leave furniture or items they no longer want or need so you can "shop" and take something you need. Love to see a good recycle/reuse in operation. That is very cool perk at this location.

the only thing not clean/maintained was the back bathroom. everything else was great. i struggled with paying my bill due to recent hard times and I was so graciously allowed to move my belongings instead of these wonderful guys auctioning my things. iI am so grateful and thankful for the understanding of my situation and allowing me the opportunity to keep my belongings. thank you so much. this is a really great faculty!

I initially rented a smaller unit because "I don't have that much stuff." Reality appeared about a week later and I needed to upsize. The U-Haul agents were "out of this world" helpful and kind! I have only good things to say about my entire experience with them. *** My initial voyage around the gutted out KMART store was not scenic at all. Brand new partitions lined from wall to wall. Clean, dry, well-lit building. I could NOT find my cubicle! Luckily, the nice cleaning lady informed me I was in the "Do it Yourself" section and I needed to explore the "Toys" section to find my spot. I knew exactly where to go. Away I went! Past the "Kitchen Korner," a 90 degree turn by "One Hour Photo" then a stroll through "Lay-a-Way" and VOILA....I FOUND MY SPOT! Happy I was to release my baggage! The best feeling ever! THANK-YOU U-HAUL! I was delighted with my experience!

Staff was very helpful with us. We really wish there was a service to move our things to a bigger unit, and have the U-Haul employees move it for us. We literally get 1 1/2 days a week off and work 12 1/2 hours a day five days a week so it's difficult for us. We also have more things to be stored. 423-278-4002 we work third so a message or text will be great if we don't answer.

No lock was in the unit as stated by the online check in. Also not a very good looks when there's roaches just as you walk into the facility. Then to top it off, you have a long term customer stating that they were getting their stuff out of their unit as fast as they could backside the facility was disgusting and the had a water leak right next to their unit.

Noah and the entire staff working 2/18 & 2/19 were great to work with. I'm glad to know that I get an entire month free to store my belongings and just because they were so pleasant I feel a sense of ease about my things and continuing month to month rental after the trial ends!!!! Very satisfied how quickly they were able to help me out with equipment rental plus storage on such a short notice because I lost my reservation number. They made a very stressful situation for my fiance and I alot better thanks to their kindness and willingness to help us. Will highly recommend to everyone!

Getting everything setup & going was extremely easy! The staff were very helpful with instructions to access the unit, how to get there, which entrance would be easiest. We also had to make an adjustment, and the staff took care of the problem no sweat! I'm very pleased and would recommend this option to anyone needing some storage.

Absolutely the best experience at this facility for storage rental. The staff was extremely helpful and went above expectations on my storage needs. On a separate note, the recommendation by uhaul for a third party to offload my items, was a disaster. The worst experience. It was over a year ago. I did find a new company to load up all the goods to my new home, and clear out the Uhaul storage. I found a company in Elizabethton TN called Bennett Movers. They were also absolutely the best movers. They treated my personal items as theirs. It was the most enjoyable move experience.

Often times there wasn't staff available. We moved out and couldn't find anyone to tell. When I called it just rang then got connected to a service desk. She said I have to tell them in person. We were an hour away ! I asked why she couldn't just tell them herself. You need better software

I would give this area a much higher rating if the loading/unloading garage areas were available, they have everyone walking from the main entrance and placing people in storage units all the way at the end of the building I'd rather not have to do more hard work after I've already been moving all day. So I was dissatisfied with the fact they won't let you use the garage bays for unloading, also when i tried to disarm my unit at the main entrance it let me but then it kept denying me access to get in the door. Luckily there was still someone on site that could put her numbers in and hold the door open long enough for me to get in but even she couldnt tell me why it was denying me access to the door but letting me check in and out. 24 hour access would be nice as well.

I didn't ask to take a survey you asked me to take a survey. When soliciting someone for assistance of any kind it should be on the person's terms that you are soliciting from. So if I choose not to answer any of the questions above it should be taken at face value and I should not have to complete a survey in its entirety. Any information that I choose to give you should be good enough. Your customer service lacks because of these types of demands that you're placing on consumers. A customer feels that their boundaries are not being respected because when given opportunities to answer certain questions should they choose not to answer them but forcing them to complete a survey you're not building proper trust and relationships with your customers by doing so. Naturally this will probably fall on deaf ears and toss into a pile somewhere to which it will not be taken to heart and thus the brand loyalty and trust continue to decline.

When I first tried to get my unit there was nobody there that knew how to rent me the unit at 10am. After I got my stuff out after a month I had roaches all in my clothes. Bad service and not clean.

The security system card reader for the entrance to my area of storage was not working well and I could not access directly requiring assistance from the office. The card would read in the office but not at the door. Also, I reserved a 10 X 20 unit online but when I got there they said they did not even HAVE 10 X 20 units. The do have 10 X 15 but none were available so I had to rent two 10 X 10 units.

I had no problems but there was another woman that kept setting off the alarm while I was inside. There was also some sort of box that said "poison" in the unit I was renting. Hope you do not have a rodent problem.

I selected Uhaul storage solely because of the first month free. when arriving at the Bristol location, they had no record of my online check in and then they charged me for the first month. This is deceiving marketing and fraudulent. Website says first month is free with one way truck or trailer rental. I will not be staying more than this month.

Arrived at the building for the first time, the automatic doors opened and I walked right in. Went to my unit, opened the door and activated the alarm. Instructions need to emphasize "FOLLOW THESE STEPS OR ELSE" for a better first-time move-in experience. The alarm works great!

Don't know who the lady behind the desk is or what her title is, but she completely ignored me. I stood there for at least ten minutes before the two younger guys called me over to their desk. There was a mistake with my reservations but the manager Joel made it right.

The older gentleman that met me in the parking lot and hung with me throughout the process was excellent? The younger worker at the desk was fast asleep when we approached the desk and had to be woken by the gentleman helping me. The younger man was also very slow in processing requests. He also could not find the size we needed and we settled for a smaller one. When we went to unload, we noticed an empty one of the size we needed. The older gentleman then took over our order as the other man was with a customer. He found the one we had seen was empty and confirmed it was open and rented it to us.

No one explained the access card to us so we have been locked out of the storage unit! This was our first time using a Uhaul storage so had no idea we'd get locked out. Staff could have explained it instead of just handing me the card with no instructions. Access hours are suppose to be 24hrs but access stops at 10pm. Not happy about that either

I moved out a while ago and it took them calling more than 4 times to say my payment was due and me responding with I have told you guys I moved out, for them to finally close my storage unit a month later. There was even mold found on some of my stuff and I had to throw it out and get it replaced even though they have air conditioning. Will not be using this location again :)

Moved out August 30, 2021, unable to cancel storage online on my account the option was grayed out. Could not get anyone at the facility itself to answer the phone, when they did answer the phone they hung up on us without saying a word. In addition I called they hundred number for U-Haul and spoke to a tech they told me oh well you'll just need to go in there, first that wasn't what I was told when I got to the building I was told I could cancel online or via telephone second I have Covid I can't just go in there. In addition it show me owing for September and for October, I moved out August 30 oh nothing. It took nine days before I received my cancellation receipt, the customer service with U-Haul is terrible.

The storage was fine but billing then trying to rectify was and still is a nightmare. Over charged by $265, drove 1hr 2x to get credit Could not do it, then attempted 2 credits 1st for 104.95. Wrote it for 10,495!!!!! Then to rectify charged me 10,495. Due to this my cc co had to reduce available credit. The CHARGE HIT IMMEDIATELY BUT NOT THE CREDIT!!!! Upset disgusted least how I feel

I moved out of the storage unit on the 19th of the month, I paid for the full month on the 15th and was not reimbursed for the balance of the month, the rent should have been pro rated for the month, I had my rent set up on auto payment and for 9 months my rent was paid on time. This is not the way to treat good customers, I also rented several trucks and trailers from this location. I don't believe I will use them again in the future

The facility is climate controlled. You back your vehicle into a secure 2 bay area and use a keycard to open the doors to the facility. Once inside you find carts for your use, as well as security beyond what you would expect. If someone tries to open your unit without first scanning your keycard to gain entry an alarm sounds and security is alerted. UHaul seems to have this storage thing covered!
