The van statement said it was full and it was not. I filled up a tank that for 3 gallons that I did not use. Also my storage unit had mouse feces in it and on my things.

Please have a better way to reach the actual location by phone. While using the vehicle, I misplaced my cellphone. I called the number for the store in Chicago where I rented (using a different phone of course) to ask if I had left my phone there, but the number I dialed reached a corporate office in Utah. I spoke with Charles who was super helpful but unfortunately there was no way for him to contact the rental location in Chicago to ask if my cellphone was there. In retracing my steps I did find my missing phone, but it would have been helpful to reach someone at the store location, to ask that one quick question, when dialing the number listed as the store location phone number. Aside from that, my experience was 5-star.

I was asked to pick up a vehicle next to the fire hydrant and I was asked to park it back atbthe same spot again. Isn't it illegal to park next to a fire hydrant? Please follow rules!

I dropped off the auto transport earlier in the day and Andrew was unfriendly and seemed annoyed to assist us. He said he would send a receipt to my email which I never received. I return at 4:45pm same day to drop off the truck and the door is locked. The store closes at 5pm. Myself and another customer knocked on the door until Andrew reluctantly opened the door. He took my key and again said he would send a receipt to my email. I did not receive a checkin email for the truck and auto transport until the next day. Very unprofessional, especially to lock the door well before closing time.

Reserving the truck was useless. Still spent 20 minutes in-store trying to get my reservation. I was also charged a $30 fee cause you guys failed to charge my card on file, and later, auto charged it with a late-fee. Ridiculous. Waste of time. Not professional.

The 20 foot truck that we were given had issues accelerating which made our journey take longer than it should have and we also burned more gas due to this. When I brought this to the associates attention, he made no effort to even offer a simple apology.

The 20 ft truck we reserved was in poor condition. The muffler was disconnected from the exhaust making the ride very loud. The steering was not in alignment. The doors did not close unless slammed. Additionally, the 20' truck, which was only half filled with furniture, had a difficult time ascending hills. The truck was not a good value for my rental fee. The representative was helpful though.

Three employees I encountered were not wearing masks. It made my family feel unsafe especially we are moving from a low covid state to a high covid state. WEAR A MASK. A U-Haul employee was able to help me free my car from the trailer. He was incredibly helpful and saved the day. He is a star. But still was not wearing a mask.

On 8/8/20 my wife and I were pulling an open trailer that we had rented in the Gurnee area through the Chicago area on our way to Noblesville, IN. We had gotten around O'Hare when my truck started to over heat. I had to pull off of 94 into a town called Hillside. At that point my wife started to try and find a U-Haul location to rent a truck to finish our trip while I tried to contact a tow truck to tow my truck out of the parking lot for repair. I was able to get a tow truck in about 35 minutes. My wife was on the phone for more than an hour before she had been told where we could get a 10 foot panel truck from a U-Haul in Chicago. She was told the cost would be $245 because of the short notice and limited vehicles. We were stuck in a parking lot with an open trailer loaded with items from our home and no way to pull it, so we had little choice. We were told to go the 3401 West 47th street in Chicago to get our truck. We had friends from the Gurnee area driving to our location to take me to the U-Haul location, but they were still about 35 minutes out and the U-Haul location on 3401 West 47th was 30 minutes from our location and the website showed the location closed in about 35 minutes at 7:00 pm. My wife got on the phone to call the location and ask if they would be willing to stay and wait until we arrived before closing because of our circumstances. They understood we were broken down and needed this truck to complete our trip to Indy with our belongings on the open trailer. She was told they would wait a couple minutes past 7:00, but that was all. I could not believe that response. Our friends arrived and we rushed to the West 47th street site and arrived at 6:58. As I was walking in the door an employee was turning off the lights, so it seems they were not going to wait on me. I went to the counter and told the woman my name and that I was there for a 10 foot panel truck. She then told me she did not have a truck for me. It was at a different location. I explained this was the site that we were told to go to. We are not from this area, we would not make up something like that. She said the truck was at 2601 LaSalle Street in Chicago. It was 15 to 20 minutes away. I asked what time they close and she said 7:00 pm. It was already 7:03. I told her our situation and she got on the phone and appeared to be contacting the LaSalle Street location. She told me the key would be in an outside lock box, so that I could still get my truck even though they would be closed. The woman told me how to go onto UHaul.com and access the key. So we drove to the LaSalle street site to get a truck. We arrived at about 7:25 pm and I tried to go onto the site and to get the key for the truck. I attempted several times to go onto the website to get the code that would release my truck key. At about 8:00 pm I gave up and tried calling the 800 help number on the website. I also had a 25 minute wait before someone picked up the call. The woman tried multiple things that would allow me to take the picture of my drivers license. That seemed to be the issue. After about 30 minutes she told me she needed to contact her manager. She put me on hold for another 25 minutes. She came back on and tried a few more things and then told me that I would not be able to get a truck in this way. She said it seems the LaSalle site does not use the outside key process after hours. I told her that I was standing 6 feet away from 3 key lock boxes. It made no sense to me. I explained my situation and told this woman that my wife has been standing with my trailer for more than 2 hours at this point waiting on me to return. She put me on hold again and contacted the manager of the LaSalle site. The manger said she would drive in and get me a key. She lived approximately 20 minutes from the site. The manger arrived around 10:00 pm to open up and provide me with a key. I am very grateful to Cynthia Zamora for coming in to help me out of this situation. She was the ONLY bright spot in this entire U-Haul fiasco. When I was getting the key I asked Cynthia why the after hours key was not ready. I told her that the woman at the West 47th street site called her site to set things up. Cynthia told me no one had contacted her. The after hours key pick up was never set up. The woman at the 47th street site was evidentially lying to me when she told me things were set up for my after hours key pick up. Cynthia told me they stopped using the after hours key pick up a couple months ago due to riots in the area. This was very disappointing to me considering that the woman at the 47th street site knew my situation. The end result was it took more than 3 hours to finally get a truck and I had to go to 2 different sites. My wife was also told that the reason for the $245 cost was due to short notice and lack of vehicles. I counted at least 5 of these 10 foot panel trucks at the LaSalle Street site. This was without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had with business.

I went to this U-Haul to purchase some addition pads for my move and the machine was down. The employee proceeded to put my credit card info down with her personal phone. When my mother asked what was going on, one of the employee started to yell at her very very aggressively. She told her to shut up and just go to another store!! My mother was so in shock she started to cry!! This employee was very loud and hostile to us both. We just didn’t not understand why she would be putting my credit info in her phone; that was the only question we asked. Also we were terrified for our lives because NO ONE at this location wore a mask except for my mom and I during my entire experience!!! So ALARMING!!!!!!! This behavior is very very very unacceptable due COVID-19 killing people and my mom having underling health issues!!!!!!!!. You’re staff put my mom and I at risk in addition to the belligerent behavior of your employee ( I think she was a manager). Lastly, I spoke to someone at this location two days prior to my move-in a safe said that my unit was available on the first floor which was imperative, I even told her that I could pay ahead of time, but she said pay on Saturday when I arrive. When I arrived my u it had been moved to the 3rd floor which caused me to spend more money with the movers . She said that she thought that I would not mind because the 3rd floor had air conditioning, but actually I did mind; the decision caused me to spend more money considering I was moved to the 3rd floor and across the building!!!!! I would have went to another U-Haul if I knew this was a possibility!!! Nevertheless, please contact me with a follow up call. I have never seen such poor service at your facilities!!!

Customer service was not good. All three store employees were unprofessional and extremely laid back. When I walked in, neither of them greeted me. One was eating at the desk/cashier area. Another helped me but wasn't thorough. In the middle of helping me she went to help another employee which I can understand but didn't communicate that which was rude. Another employee stepped in and communication again was an issue. She began asking a series of questions to create a customer profile/account and didn't tell me nor did she understand my confusion as to why I needed to ask her questions to understand why I needed to provide the information. Once I received the truck keys, nothing was said. Not a thank you, do you have questions, the truck is this way, NOTHING! Again, it wasn't until I asked questions such as where is the truck?! Then she didn't explain how to close the truck door or tell me it was open. So I was driving on the expressway which an open door. When I called the store back, and again asking questions to clarify I was told the assumption was everybody knows how to close the door and since it was nothing in the truck it didn't matter if the door was open! Ridiculous!! Upon my arrival to return the truck, i was again ignored as I entered the store. Not one employee greeted me. One did stare at me while I was “helped”. I was told I could get a printed or emailed receipt. I said I would wait until the truck was checked before I left the premises. As one employee quietly checked the truck without making any conversation, she then abruptly said you should have gotten the email. Just rude and impersonal. Thankfully I waited but said email was never received. It never dawned on her to proceed with a paper copy. She instead attempted to use her phone to “send” the receipt. Yet again I had to ask the questions, can you give me a printed receipt NOW! Without saying a word the employee walks in the store and prints the receipt. Then she tells me the total which should have been told to me before even attempting to “email” it to me. This was so unprofessional and uncourteous. Will not return to this location.

I had a terrible experience with Uhaul. I was denied a rental because of someone else's action that has nothing to do with me. Because I went to a location to rent Uhaul with someone who was helping me move and I wanted him to help me do the rental as well. I didn't know this person own Uhaul money for past rental services. They refused to rent to him which was understandable. I ended up renting in my own name and all service charges was fully paid for and the truck returned in good condition. Unfortunately, I was going to rent a truck from Uhaul yesterday i was refused service because they thought i prevented the guy who went with me to the location from paying them what he owns by renting the truck in my own name. I have was on the phone for more than 40 minutes with Uhaul customer service begging for me to be offered service in the process transferring me between one manager to another manager before the finally unlinked me from that dude account. That was a terrible experience for me and would make a comic video about it.

Re: Contract 25487815 & 385566462 At the last minute U-Haul changed my reservation from one location to another, resulting in me having to travel 16 additional miles to pick up and drop off the rental; thus adding to the cost of the truck. This was a burdensome last minuate change that is unappreciated, and I would like a refund for the additional milage. Additionally, the outgoing milage on the contract was different by 1 mile than on the dashboard. I have pictures of the outgoing and return milage and fuel levels if you would like verification. It seems inaccurate milage is a pattern with U-Haul, this is the 3rd time I've noticed this and different locations. Thank you.

It was 90 degrees yesterday and the A/C unit in the truck was not working.

I originally reserved the vehicle for a 2:00p pick up because I had a 3:00-6:00 move out reservation for the elevators in my building. On the day of my reservation it was changed to 3:00p p/u by UHaul at 11:30a the morning of the reservation. They left a message to say that the truck I reserved would not be returned until after 3:00. I called to let them know that it would screw up my move out and give me less than 2:30 hrs to move out. Ended up I wasn't able to pick it up til almost 4:00. Which really screwed me. Luckily my building was understanding and gave me some extra time to get out. It added a lot of undue stress to the already stressful move. Don't believe the $50 reservation guarantee. Fine print says “due to a fault of UHaul”. They said a customer turning a vehicle in late is not their fault. Then why would you let me reserve one for 2:00p that I needed for a 3:00p move out if you didn't have one available?

I was so pleased with my UHaul's employee's help and professionalism that I had planned on writing a letter to let you know how wonderfully he represents your company. His name is Anthony and he works at the 2600 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago. He made what could have been very difficult and frustrating a carefree experience for a single, senior female. I appreciated his "No problem' attitude in assisting me with the purchasing of my storage unit and by walking me through the large facility to ensure I could find it when I got turned around with its location. Staff is awesome. I've seen them do thing like use their phone to translate and speak to the diverse customer base. Always super pleasant to us.
