My rental cost went from 19,95 $ to 109,00 $, even after declining all the add-ons offered (rental insurance is offered through my credit card, didn't need boxes, etc.). Although this was just in town use, the kms were ~100, and the per/km cost obviously caused the increase. Maybe examples of average driving could be posted on walls or websites to give a heads-up so the huge increase in cost is not such a surprise.Craig S.

I rented a truck advertised at 2 995 $per day. I drove 110 kilometers, and had it for 7 hours. I was charged 140,00 $. What a con job rip off. NEVER AGAIN.paul P.

The staffs there are friendly . The receptionists are very busy in peak time. But they are nice ! Remember to take a photo of various meters when you begin to drive the car. The fuel tank of my car was not full, but about 70 percent fuel. I also refuel the car to the initial tank position before returning it. And the pictures helps a lot.Zhenhai W.

Nothing. This was a simple and very reasonable process. The trailer was clean, well-maintained and ready on time. The return was even faster, took about 5 minutes. The staff was polite, professional and very helpful. A++MICHAEL M.

I rented a half ton truck and trailer reserved a week in advance. The gentleman that oversaw the girl who checked me in changed me to a giant cube van to pull the trailer I rented to move a motorcycle. When I said I needed a trailer with a ramp he insisted on changing me to a large cube van because the truck didn't have a ramp, BUT THATS WHY I RENTED A TRAILER!! Not happy at all. I spent 130 $on this rental and way more had because this guy did not understand my needs. Very unhappy. Go to another location. Cannot get customer service to rectify.Justin E B.

I'm severely disappointed as the front desk lady said we were overcharged and if we had gone in to rent we would have paid half of what we were charged. We ended up paying almost 1,000$!! This seems unfair and it's a pandemic so renting online was safer. At this point I won't use uhaul again for loving, that's not okay at all.MARK DAVID W.

My partner and I picked up our 5x9 open trailer from this locating on June 1st. We had to assemble and hook up our Kia Soul to the light harness before we were able to get the trailer. We truly would not have been able to do so without the help of one of your mechanics. I wish I could remember his name, but a taller gentleman helped us for almost an hour, in the pouring rain. He was so generous with his time and we could not have done it without his expertise. As a thank you, we offered him a tip but he wouldn't even take it. His customer support was outstanding. Additionally, the gentleman who helped us with the actual trailer rental and brought us the trailer was exceptionally helpful, patient, and positive despite the downpours he was working through! We had the incorrect size of hitch and he helped us find the correct size no problem. What a wonderful experience we had because of your staff.Leanne Catherine W.

My only suggestion would be for Uhaul would be that when picking up and dropping off the vehicle it is far easier to base it off of a full tank of rather than having to return it at a half tank or quarter tank. Like customers should be given a truck with a full tank and expected to return it full as well. Easier on the customer and looks better for UhaulDAVID ALEXANDER B.

I tried using the ride share online option. The site wouldn't work, kept timing out, not accepting info...i wasted a half hour trying, finally went in and got checked out at the counter. Tried to confirm the damage photos, wouldn't work of course. The guy that worked there made me agree to photos I couldn't see, spilled liquid in the cab. Unswept in the back. I'm sure I'll be charged for cleaning it. Tried dropping it off... told at the counter to go outside and find someone... which someone? There is 10 people outside and im supposed to walk up to each and ask them what?... during a pandemic... so do I just stand in the middle of the parking lot and yell help til someone comes?? then finally, I get my receipt WHICH I CAN'T SEE... just a blank screen... gee thanks uhaul 250 $later and a pile of frustration... and not even a receipt, cool.Kathleen P.

When this customer (me) sees an employees using their person phone to snap a picture of my drivers licence (as was done during my rental), no matter how trustworthy that individual U-Haul employee may actually be; for reasons of the POTENTIAL of a unscrupulous person /employee recording on their personal device (vice company device) my personal data (e.g. full name, address, licence number etc.) it makes me VERY uncomfortable, because such information could also be clandestinely recorded on the employee's personal device and exploited by that unscrupulous employee for sinister objectives. Recommendation - U-Haul should provide employees with company tools they need to do their job without reliance on the employees using their personal phones. I know U-Haul has provided an app for employees to load & use on their personal phone but that is NOT sufficient means of protecting the personal data of consumers!Neil S M.

I kindly ask when your staff receive a call to make a reservation that your not rushed through the process and they answer all questions being addressed. Their was also conflicts to rental rates/charge per KM/MILES/added rental accessories available when confirmation text was received and did not apply correctly from the verbal quote provided. They overcharged me by double. When I investigated, I saw that they had my mileage 10x what I actually drove. Luckily I had before and after pics of the odometer. I showed the employee who I met when returning the truck and they acknowledged their mistake and gave me the real invoice. 4 hours later I get an email saying my credit card was charged the wrong amount (double the price), so I called and waited on hold and eventually got through to someone and had to explain it all over again, and luckily they acknowledged their mistake again but couldn't fix it right away. When I got the trailer home, I found there was an appliance dolly and a wooden pallet that had been left inside it from a previous rental. There was also difficulty in getting trailer lights to work with my truck. UHaul techs told me my truck was the problem. But I later tested my truck with a utility trailer and an RV belonging to friends and had no problems in either case. So I suspect the issue was with the UHaul trailer wiring.Steve A.

The security system kept going off whenever I was there, went to front desk and they gave me anew card as they weren't sure what was going on. Lights only worked half the time I went in. When I booked the storage unit there was a huge mess up. was told I had a truck and storage unit booked with first month rent free, went in and was told I didn't as nothing was marked down. Got the truck and told me to go back in when I had my stuff to book a unit as they couldn't right then, which I found weird, they also told me one would be available when I got there. Once I had my stuff went in they told me they only had biggest unit available so I went with it cause what was I going to do with my stuff. Meanwhile I didn't get the first month free as they put the truck under my name and storage under my mom. I brought it up to there attention and it kept getting put off like it was nothing and they couldn't do anything. I was in a domestic dispute and had to get my things out of the house and going through alot at the time so I gave up. BUT AM NOT AND WAS NOT IMPRESSED THAT DAY. I moved my things into a storage unit during a small snow storm. Everyone else cancelled their services at Uhaul, as I was told by an employee there that morning, but I decided to go ahead and get my move done. The area in front of my storage unit was iced and not salted and poorly lit. As a result, my driver slipped, broke his ankle in 2 places, and had to go to the hospital. After returning inside the office, I mentioned the incident to the employees none of whom expressed any concern about the matter. Staff at the facility were excellent - however, the call center misled me to believe that I had reserved a unit (they took my credit card number) when no real reservation had been made. This could have been a very big deal if I had not shown up on site to get the layout - and got the last unit available. Call center needs to be specific that the reservation is not firm until checking in at the site. And if not firm, why do they need credit card info over the phone? No notice of a circular lock needing to be purchased in order to "prevent theft" until we arrived to move into the unit. This should be included in the price of the unit if there is a known issue. The lock sold on site is garbage and we threw it out after we moved out as it was difficult to open. Bagged clothing and baby items became moldy; had to throw out a lot of it. Smell of urine near our unit, like someone had been peeing on the wall frequently. Was told when I spoke to someone to discontinue my unit that I would receive a call back stating whether or not I need to return my access card - no call back to date. Staff on the phone and inside the branch were very helpful and well spoken. The service was poor when we had to go into the office, (online instructions didn't match the instructions from the facility itself), person behind counter wasn't wearing their mask properly (in middle of pandemic), basically told me I was a liar, and his instructions didn't work to allow me into my unit either. There's poison rodent traps in the units no one tells you about until you find it, which I think those traps are inhumane and I requested it to be moved. Was told they would remove it, I wait another almost 24 hours before going back to put the lock on the unit to still find trap inside. Was cut off by person speaking to me on to me on the phone while trying to sort out issues to the point I just stopped trying, and let them say whatever they needed too and ended the call without being properly happy about anything. The one good thing they did was give me a month free for all the issues, a ten minute set up turned into 3 days of super stress and confusion that couldn't of easily been avoided, the 1 month free feels insufficient and lazy on behalf of the company. 10/10 will never uhaul for anything again.Kerra N. | Online Move In

Reserved a 10 by 15 unit 3 weeks in advance than rented a 26' uhaul truck to move upon my arrival at the Dartmouth location was told my unit is no longer available and my reservation means nothing and it's first come first serve! It took weeks of planning to have people help with the move an expensive uhaul truck to move our things and then to show up and not have the reservation mean anything was absolutely unacceptable. When I asked to speak to a manager at around noon I was told she was in a meeting until 6. The gentleman at the desk called Halifax and Bedford locations but also not available not to mention I'm paying for the truck per kilometre. For a storage facility not back up a reservation a customer has made is unimaginable as we are counting on the unit to be available if reserved. In the end we did get a 10 by 20 unit but took over an hour to find. I'm not sure how long our things will be in this unit but I do know when I need another unit in the future and with the costs associated with moving I will certainly be looking for a company who can be trusted. If no unit became available and I had a uhaul truck rented with our things in it what would have happened? Absolutely horrible experience.SCOTT MICHAEL G. | Premières impressions

First thing: i asked at the counter to book a truck for the next day and pick up in a town 80 kms away. I was booked for a week away and pick up in the city the office was in. I canceled that order, messaged the office and i was not contacted about the screw up. Second, when i got the truck a few days later, i rolled into the storage area and the alarm was going off. The security intercom system was utilized by me to notify the office next door. I was blamed for setting the alarm off. It was certainly not me. Kim was awesome!!! Helped me out when my reservation was messed up. The staff indoors at the office were NOT wearing masks. This is twice I've been in in a month and I can say I do not feel comfortable going back in knowing their lack of pandemic responsibility. Only 2 screens separated customers but those lines were not open, only the wheelchair and the one next to it. No sanitizers next to debit machines or desks. Staff was superb, I forgot a laptop in the hallway outside my locker and when I called about it the girl in the office went across the street to the locker site and brought it back to the office for me to pick up the next day. When I first rented there was a keypad access that unfortunately broke. It broke around December if I recall correctly and as far as I know it has yet to be fixed.
