The truck I rented had a transmission problem. I stopped in a parking lot and waited almost 5 hours before U-Haul was able to get us into a hotel. That was 9pm. The Uber eats they ordered did not arrive until 12 am. My son had already fell asleep from being exhausted and sitting in the cold with out animals. So much confusion during the course of returning the replacement truck resulted in them flagging my account because they failed to read the notes. On top of that, when I picked up the truck I paid $100 cash deposit which I was told would be given to me when we dropped off the truck. They never gave me my deposit back. A one day move turned into 3 days. Went 2 days without any food or the deposit back due to having to transfer trucks. The first night they paid for a pizza. That's all. Despite them knowing we were depending on the cash deposit back the same day. Despite being told again and again that we had nothing. We only got a pizza and breadsticks. They claim it has been escalated, but I still have not received the deposit back and nobody from "upper management" has tried to contact me, despite reaching out several times to agents in the U-Haul app. Terrible experience. I would recommend recording every conversation when renting anything from U-Haul and when returning. I'm just fortunate that I had a witness with me. Just be aware that if you breakdown at 4pm. they will not be able to help for at least 5 hours. and you will also be bombarded with texts and calls asking for updates and pressuring you to hurry as if you did something wrong.

SHANE TWhen we picked up the U-Haul, it was disgusting. I had to clean the inside in order to see out of the windows. It smelled like dog pee. The right rear tire light came on as soon as I got out of the driveway as well, and I had to fill up all of the tires with air to proper psi. The ABS light was on in. We were told that the U-Haul had just been serviced and then it was fine. Due to the inability to get any other equipment, we took it and surprisingly we made it on our journey unscathed. The people were very nice at the pick up location, however, I just feel like the scheduling of these vehicles is too tight in order for them to be properly, cleaned and maintained in between rentals.

ERIC LOverall good experience… My main complaint was that the van reeked of cigarette smoke and made it very uncomfortable to be in. Other than that, the equipment was good- except for the sun visor on the drivers side (it was broken). One other note to the gentlemen inside- they were semi friendly - but not professional at all. when I walked in, one of the gentlemen was on his phone talking loudly on speaker phone to a friend, (not a customer) and it wasn't very polite. The gentleman who helped me just was not very personable. Didn't act very friendly and wasn't great to work with. All in all really happy though with the service today and thankful for the quick and easy reservation.
JACKSON RWhen I picked up my reservation, they told me that they upgraded me from cargo to box truck. Like that was a good thing. I made it work. They were unfriendly, surly and had zero customer service. I had a hand truck on the reservation and they didn't have anything to give me. They said it was my problem. Maybe I could go to Penske to get one. I was irritated. It was clear. I told them what I thought of honoring my order. One guy behind the desk told me not to raise my voice. Please. I was far from the worst person they ever dealt with. Show some compassion and care about your customer. The return experience was excellent.

EDWARD PAfter UHaul changed our pick up location 1 time, we went to the new location UHaul email update told us to go (Greer SC). At that location there were only "Storage Buildings "! We then found the Wade Hampton location in Greenville, SC., by phone & they had a truck for us to rent. At the Wade Hampton location they were very nice, professional & had a truck waiting for us within 15 minutes!! Thank you Wade Hampton location!!

There was a q-tip from the previous users that had so much ear wax on it that it was sticking to the wall. The insulation inside looks like it will give you asbestos. The move in process wasn't smooth at all because there's a huge bump that you have to get over to even get into the facility.

Because the online reservation system 'crashed,' I was unable to complete my check-in online. Then, on two further occasions - one over the phone and one in-person - my reservation got lost for whatever unknown reasons. Fortunately, the third try was a success, and by the stroke of luck they still had a unit available for me, otherwise I would have been S.O.L. with a truckload full of stuff. Apart from all of this, the storage unit itself was fine, and the people were friendly.

The staff was excellent at providing my access card and lock and key. The unit itself was clean and very easy to access. When it was time to turn everything back in I had no trouble at all. The staff was friendly fast and efficient. If I were to ever have this situation occur again I would not hesitate to rent another unit.
