Do not allow reservations to be placed if they can't be fulfilled, the fact that my reservation was changed twice the day before I had it set for was very frustrating and caused extra stress to my move. Also there was a lot of grease in the bed of the truck that got on my furnitureKyra B.

I rented a 5x8 enclosed to move my daughter to Dallas. The man who installed the trailer light plug put it in upside down, I had to show him how to connect it. The trailer came off the ball going down Gravois and I dragged the trailer by the safety chains for about half a block before able to pull over. Thanks God my wife or daughters were not driving a loaded trailer. I returned trailer and got another one. This replacement trailer vibrated very badly all the way home. I looked at the tires and the left was severely cupped. The right tire was missing about half the tread, down to the casing. similar to a big truck recap coming off. I called the 800 number and they sent a service person out to fix the tires. He was in a private car, small four door with just a floor jack and no tools. He stated we would have to take them off, go back to East St. Louis, mount the new tires and bring them back. He reeked of marijuana and the whole experience was very startling and unprofessional. I called the 800 number to report this, he stated he had another service call and left. This was Dymonds Classic Tires, Inc. in East St. Louis. I called the 800 number again and they sent out Purcell Tire. Very professional, had a service truck and was done in les than half an hour. Great job by them. Overall experience was very disappointing. I hate to think what would have happened if that trailer blew the tire going down the interstate at 55 milesSTEPHEN O.

I was having a hard time picking my truck up from the website so I went inside to get help. The woman helping me was really nice and was explaining what happened. There was a woman working 2 workstations down from where I was being helped, when the woman who was helping me started to look for the keys to the truck that I was there to pick up the lady 2 work stations down said that she was renting it. I jokingly made a comment â€œdoes that mean I get $50?â€ And the woman 2 work stations down (who I do not know her name but she had thick rim glasses, many tattoos and a shoulder length darker color haircut) snapped and yelled â€œUmm no that's only if we don't have that size truck we have other trucks the same size!â€ Im not sure what her problem was but it seems like she is a constant problem because the manager came out immediately and told her to â€œcalm downâ€ and to â€œlet it goâ€ along with the lady who was helping me shook her head and apologized for the other woman's actions. after the manager finally got her to be quiet She continued to talk under her breath so I was not able to hear what she said. The manager was very kind and helped me from this point! When I returned the truck to the designated area the gentleman that was cleaning the trucks was very kind and courteous. I believe his name was David but I could be wrong, it was a busy day of moving but the gentleman that was cleaning the trucks made the end of my day and the end of my stressful day so much more enjoyable he is a keeper! As I'm sure uhaul knows that moving is a very stressful and aggravating process. When It's 8:30 in the morning and I'm being helped by one person and then getting yelled at by someone who obviously causes problem regularly.Andrew G.

Was 10min late for drop off and was charged for another day of use. 6 hours was not enough to load, drive, unload, and drive back. If I pay for a day I should be able to use the whole day u told closing to return. Don't call it 'per day' if a 'day' is only 6 hours.Nikolas B.

When I signed the contract and added Smart Move I asked the agent if this covered damage to the truck. While parking the truck we hit a tree branch and dented the front corner of the box. On returning I reported that there was damage and asked to clarify that the agreement covered damage to the truck. When I got final invoice email I had been charged an extra $600 for truck damage. Perhaps I did not sign up for the correct coverage but I ASKED THE AGENT if this covered damage to the truck. Other that that this location has always been great to work with. Drop off was simple and quick. The trailer parking location could be made less in the way of the equipment return location, but not a problem if you can back a trailer in tight spaces.Patrick M.
I have used Uhaul several times in my life and they have always been wonderful. I rented the truck at 1/4 tank of gas and after the move I put $25 in gas which brought it back up to 1/4 tank. I have always returned things I borrow in the same condition. They charged me almost $50 for fuel and a cleaning surcharge. Plus $20 for checking in the truck the next morning. All of which I have never had a problem with before.Cole W.

The truck I reserved had a malfunctioning door on the trailer and would not close. There was not another one that size do I had to drive a larger truck. Why did the location not know the trailer door would not close? It was open when I inspected the truck.Russell E.

At first there was a bad light cord on our car dolly, found during the light check. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Fixed my problem fast and allowed me to be involved, no sit and wait. Rest of the trip was normal with no issues. I will use this location in the future.caterina A.

I tried to do everything online with the app . I had a 3 day reservation for a van and tried to pay online, after a call to the corporate phone number I was assured that everything was in order and although they had my card number it wouldn't be charged until pickup. I was renting from 3PM Friday till 3PM Monday. I got off work at 3 drove to the location tried to check out with the app for 15 minutes then went inside and was told my reservation had been given away when I was a half hour late. Eventually they got me a van later Friday evening but I checked with U-Haul corporate and they said it is not required, but the franchisee should hold the vehicle for an hour and they should call before they give your rental to someone else. It worked out in the end although I thought our plans were ruined for some time at the counter. It turns out the end of the month is not a good time to rent as leases are up or just starting. Saint Louis had some unprecedented rain and flooding so there was a extra high demand at that time. Don't just assume your local dealer will have rentals just sitting around and stay in contact with the franchisee as they are not obligated to text you and see if you are still coming to pick up your rental.Christopher R.

Your initial response to my rental request was for a pick up at one of the St. Louis locations on Kings Highway, which i originally requested. The day I needed to pick up the trailer i was rerouted to the location on Gravois. I did not enjoy driving an approximate extra six miles to the location on Gravois to pick up. the people there were very helpful and accommodating.William D.

Though this uhaul facility did a decent job at keeping the storage area clean it is not the idea location. Uhaul reduced their storage hours to only be open while office personnel are there. This is inconvenient but I understand why. Numerous times while I was at my union there were people who were trying to get in- many homeless people and people who were on drugs trying to get in. There was someone in the bathroom for a few hours doing drugs, a couple times people were so high they wouldn't even acknowledge you when you talked to them. I don't know what the fix to this is, but just something to be aware of if you use this storage facilty. Again, staff and units were good. The U-Haul truck share 24/7 system did not work for me. 1) the web site never responded during the â€œverificationâ€ step. 2) the truck I was supposed to take was blocked in by a bunch of other equipment, so I would have had to talk to a human anyway. I had to go inside and rent my truck the typical way, with the assistance of an employee.Scott M.
The rental locations were great, but the website is more than problematic. I've deleted rentals in the past (and confirmed the deletion by refreshing the browser page afterwards) only to have them show up again days later (and on the rental location systems - sloppy system Database restore by the IT guys?) But the biggest issue was with the 24/7 rental workflow. I had to make a last minute change 24 hours before by calling UHaul and this caused the "Pickup my truck" link to not show up on the day of the move (I was ontime etc.). I was on hold with UHaul help line for over 50 minutes before the local STL dispatch office opened at 9am. We called them, explained the issue. Within 2 minutes the link showed up on the website and we could pickup the truck. However the person on dispatch never got back to us either. This whole experience delayed our move by more than 2 hours. I will never use the 24/7 pickup feature again. Also UHaul main help line is ridiculously broken. UHaul as a company is really becoming a trainwreck.JERRY M.
UHaul changed the location of pickup by 13 mi more than a week prior to scheduled delivery. Truck had over 105 000 and check engine light came on during use. Otherwise everything else went well.Mark S.
When checking in, the staff was very slow to help me, even though there were no other customers in the store. The windshield wiper on the Uhaul truck was broken, which we unfortunately discovered later in the middle of a rainstorm going down the highway. I would recommend that the office staff be more diligent on helping customers and that the trucks be more thoroughly inspected for damage.Alexandra M.
The first place I was to rent the truck from gave my truck to another person. They got me a truck in another location and that other Uhaul the truck had no gasoline and needed to add gasoline myself and never got the refund back. Not pleased with the service provided.Aramis V.

The workers behind the front desk were generally quite nice and helped wherever they could. However, the first van was missing its catalytic converter. The van second had a cracked windshield when I got it and smelled strongly of smoke. The smoke smell was mentioned as likely due to someone smoking while cleaning the vehicle, and was overwhelming until the vehicle was properly aired out. The vehicle worked well enough on the road though. Also, returning via the website is a mess. Trying to access my rental using the rental number and name without a login is totally non-functional. After logging in and associating the rental, the location page had issues where it wouldn't ask for location permission. Also, that page was mostly unnecessary. The final (I think) page of the return had greyed out numbers and no completion button, making me feel like I couldn't complete my return. It turns out I only really needed to park the van and drop off the keys, which would have been a wonderful experience if it was clear that was all I needed to do.Matthew C.

The movers called also the next morning of the move to confirm time & location and they phoned to give eta, as in route. I hope the severed lock were noted in rounds made by security, I don't know when or who did it. While on hold, a manager checked and the contents were there but the lock severed. In the last couple months that we rented there it seemed like this location was trying harder to make everything safer and more secure. When we first moved our belongings into the storage facility I was really put out by how unhelpful the workers were, and how sketchy the location was. I've been here before for storage rental and truck rental…this time was not good. The girl behind the counter acted like she had better things to do than wait on customers - she barely spoke to me and when she did I wasn't even sure if she WAS talking to me because she was eating at the same time. Quite unprofessional. I felt like I was interrupting or annoying her, which is never a good feeling for a customer. :( Then when I tried to come back at 7:45pm to put some things in my storage unit, my key card wouldn't work and said it was "after hours" although the reader displayed access hours until 10pm. I rented a storage locker at the South County location months ago. While Keith, the manager, did act professionally I have a negative experience while checking out. As a customer acting in good faith, I pre-paid my rental every month. This most recent pay period I pre-paid for October and November. It was to go from the 15th to the 15th. Your records will reflect this information. I was able to retrieve all my belongings and check out on the 16th. I requested a pro-rated refund because I only used the unit for one day yet paid for the entire month. I was told, rudely, by the front line staff "NO PRORATES!" While I understand that as a business model, I explained that they could rent the unit to another customer thereby making more money. Again, I was treated rudely. I want access to UNIT 1302 until November 15th, since I paid for it. Do not rent that unit, although it is empty, to another customer. I can't remember her name, but the young lady that set up my account initially and she was also there the day that I emptied my storage locker for the first time. It was completely wonderful engaging and made the experience great. There were some hiccups along the way with adequate payment processing and auto payment not being set up. However, her disposition makes all of the errors utterly OK with me. Also, your regional VP I spoke with took the time to give me a call and apologize for another situation.
