Don't change the drop off location mid rental. Again, I selected the drop off point based on location and 24hr drop off availability. When it gets changed and I don't notice til I'm about to return the truck, it's undue stress to figure out where it is, if they even take late night drops, if it's going to exceed the included mileage etc.

Before my negative comment, I wanted to say that the East Providence location is super clean, with friendly staff. Negatives: I rented a UHAUL pickup truck from the Warren location, which is closer to my home. I had people ready to help load the truck, etc. The day before my move, I received a phone call from Uhaul, stating I had to go to the East Providence location. Just the ride to get the truck and back, was an extra 20 dollars, as compared to, if I picked it up at my original location, that I had picked. Uhaul should compensate for that extra mileage, between locations, especially, if the rental was already reserved. That is my negative comment on my experience. I liked the East Providence location, however, the cost factor involved, in driving further, for the 4 hrs that I used the truck, was probably not worth it.

I scheduled my Ubox to be delivered to my home on July 4 at 8am The arrangements were made two weeks in advance. I got a call on the morning of the 4th (delivery day) saying that the delivery wouldn't occur until between 9-11am, AND I was informed that I needed a permit from the city in order for the Ubox to be parked on the street. At no point prior to the day of delivery was I told of this extremely important piece of information. As a result, I could not have the Ubox delivered to my home and I had to drive back and forth between the Uhaul location and my home to load and unload three separate times, which greatly inconvenienced me and my family and slowed down the process considerably. Additionally, the individual who I spoke to on the phone that morning told me that he would call Uhaul of East Providence (he was located in North Smithfield - I believe his name was Mike?) to notify them of this change in plans, but when I called E. Providence to arrange to unload my Ubox they said that no one had called them to notify them. The individual who I spoke with at the East Providence location was also rude when I told him I needed to unload the box that day, since they typically need 24 hours notice to retrieve a Ubox. I explained what had happened and the reason for the short notice, but again, the fact that the Uhaul representative in North Smithfield hadn't called in advance to notify them of the mistake made for less smooth communications. I am not at all pleased with this experience on the whole and will be avoiding using Uhaul for future moving needs. Additionally, I would like to be refunded my last Ubox rent payment in order to make up for the lost time and rudeness of the Uhaul representatives.

Sign in truck says sweep and fold blankets for $25 off. Didn't receive that. Also, didn't break tie on blankets and only used 6 in a separate bag. Agent said that was cheaper to do that in the morning during pickup. I think we were still charged. Small thing but still wondering if I should have had money taken off my bill.

Ray helped us when we got in. The computer system somehow canceled my reservation. When I got there there are no more trucks the size that I needed, so he upgraded to the next size up for the same price. He was extremely helpful and very pleasant! It was my first time ever renting with them and I will definitely go back to this location if I ever need to do so again.

People that work there are not very friendly or helpful. I was over charged me 15.00 for gas when I drove only 16 miles. Than they said the truck was on 3/4 tank line and it wasn't. I had to go back in to tell the guy to check and he was aggravated. I rented a truck from you guys 3 times this month and each time was an awful service. I was checking out with the assistant manager when he got a call from another employee that needed help with something he took care of them directing him on the computer while I stood in front of him for 15min for a receipt. There is something wrong with that. Awful.... Service. The only reason I went to that location was because it was a little over a mile from the place I was moving from. I will not be going to this location ever. Ever.... And I'm going to right a review. Gave that location 3 chances.

More employees, 3 guys running ragged, excessive wait. Very accommodating tho, Alex was especially helpful. Billing process could be improved, as I had to have my bill corrected, which resulted in tying up $500 for 5 days, when my bill was only $186. I have been going to this location 40 years, always good selection of trucks, but has ALWAYS been understaffed, leading to unnecessary frustrations and attitudes from customers and staff. Again I have always gotten help, for example Alex made sure the bolt and nut to tighten down on the ball hitch was replaced on the trailer before I left.

The online check in experience was terrible. I was asked to provide information that could have been collected prior to my arrival. I had to stand in the rain while going through a check in process that eventually instructed me to go inside the building to get they keys. What was the point of the online service if I still had to go to the counter? This process took longer than any check in process I have experienced previously. Additionally, it took a considerable amount of time to locate the actual vehicle I rented. It was in a labeled parking space and this information should have been included in the check in process so that I did not have to spend ten minutes, in the rain, trying to locate the truck. Upon returning the vehicle, the sign at the check in station indicated that during operating hours an employee would check in the vehicle. After waiting fifteen minutes, while watching the employees filling propane tanks for other customers, I used the online check in process that was only indicated for use when the location was closed. Although the truck was clean and well maintained, the entire process was unnecessarily frustrating.

Paid for a hitch and wiring. Was told it would take an hour. 3 hours later. Finally completed. I later noticed that the wiring was not completed. I called the local number...they never pick up the phone. I called the 1-800 number as listed on uhaul.com..waited for 25 minutes for the phone to answered. Gentleman told me that he was not customer service, that he could not find the contract number and was going to connect me to customer service at 1-800-789-3638...he connected me and I waited for a long time and the call dropped...I called the number and waited and waited..finally hung up and called Amercian Express to dispute the charge. This is a master class in how not to run a business.

The employee who was at the counter was on his phone when I picked up the equipment never acknowledged my presence watched me walk in and ran to the bathroom to hide when he finally returned he was very unpleasant honestly my last straw with this location until he is no longer there he is by far the rudest employee I've ever dealt with at uhaul probably the worst I have ever seen anywere I will drive out of my way 30 minutes to go to your pawtucket location from now on I believe his first name is Alex but I am not sure he was not wearing a name tag and looked as of he hasn't showered in a week and his uniform was a complete mess

My clerk was polite and helpful, but harried Other clerk was not apologetic when people showed up to wrong location for pick up - told them they couldn't switch reservation to that location even though there were available vehicles - NOT customer service-oriented.

The staff are courteous and knowledgeable/helpful. The vehicle was well maintained. My only complaint would that smokers are not penalized to discourage smoking in the vehicles, the truck reeked of cigarette smoke. Perhaps that is out of the control of U-Haul, but if there were surcharges for violators that, IMO would be appropriate.

I feel scammed for lack of a better word. I was given the truck with a quarter of a tank of gas and was told I had to bring it back at that exact gas level. I thought that was just odd, why not make it a requirement to get a truck full of gas and return the truck full of gas? I said 'ok' and was on my way. I was traveling from E. Providence RI to near Hartford, CT and back. I FILLED the tank with gas not knowing how much the tank holds or how much it would burn getting to and from. I returned the truck with three quarters of a tank of gas. They would NOT refund any of that extra expenditure but rather charged me the extra TWO MILES that I underestimated the trip to be. And the gentleman at the desk was beyond rude. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General's office. This is just a horrible business practice, how are you not stealing from your customers? You are asking your customers to guess on the gas and then not refunding them their money when they go above trying to make sure they return it with the 'exact amount of gas they got the truck with'. It is also impossible to return the truck with the exact gas with no extra information provided. I am extremely dissatisfied and will never be going back there and will make sure to spread the word to everyone I know. I will be actively pursuing a refund still.

17 foot truck with 130K plus miles on, was dirty inside; not swept out for a while...got my furniture and mattress soiled. Dolly missing (told clerk), engine "tired" and slow pick-up to merge, brakes needed to be pumped to dry (raining) or did not stop properly, multiple damaged areas not marked by X, cracked windshield, "funny" odor in cabin from engine at times. Unnecessarily rude Customer Service when checking back in; Office door still open at 7PM, exactly. Agent stated: "Office closed, I'll check truck in quickly" with "attitude". Will take business elsewhere next time and I cleaned back of truck before returning!

Interface from online app to store location was faulty - the truck the app assigned to me had already been rented. The location itself was good, nice and clean with lots of space in the lot. The problem is that, again, it was not the location I picked for drop off - it was changed the day I moved! It was very inconvenient since it was 15 minutes away in the car and we did not have a second car to drive back with. Since the location I had originally picked to return the truck was full, I don’t think it should have be my responsibility to drop it off at a different location, I think someone should have picked it up from my original location and drive it to whatever location. I booked this four weeks ago and my location was changed both at pick up and drop off, it was a disservice.

Equipment drop off lanes were blocked and facility was in accessible from return location. I had to backup a 26' truck with trailer to have trailer returned. One of the people working on the premises (person checking the trucks) was incredibly root should have no business working in customer service.
