Only comment is when I returned I parked the truck because there was a private car and a uhaul truck under the tent at the door facing opposite the arrows. As I walked in the car was gone and the truck pulled away. I told the CSR what I was there for, his response was "No, pull the truck in under tent facing East and wait." And he never moved from his stool. The CSR who moved the truck and had checked me out that morning came out and and checked the truck in.MELISSA K.
This was a bad experience. My contract number is 8657137. I had made a reservation for a pick up -immediately after returning a 10' which I had needed to haul 150 pumpkins and straw bales for a client. We needed a regular truck for pulling our mobile farm stand as our own truck is in repair. I expressed the need to rent a truck with tow capacity to pull our farm stand for an event involving the same aforementioned client. When I went to the Pendleton location to pick up the truck they told me that they did not have it and that I'd need to go to another U-Haul 9The Washington St. location which is much farther away from my home and the event). The lady said that someone had called and left a message concerning this but being a busy as we were and not recognizing the number I did not get the message. Given that it was late and I needed the truck I went to the other location. The gentleman who helped me was nice enough. I mentioned the need to tow my farm stand and he asked if I had the ball I needed for the tow. I told him yes. Our farm stand needs a 1 7/8" ball so we can't use the one that U-haul normally has. When I got the truck I did not notice that the part that the ball screws into was not on the truck; I guess I was focusing on the number and getting back in time to move our farm stand. The truck smelled like cigarettes and had not been cleaned. Given my time constraints I simply got in and went home. When my son was preparing to secure our farm stand he told me that the hitch component needed for our ball was not there! I called the Uhaul office which was about to close. The gentleman apologized and said he'd wait for us to get there and that normally the charge was 5 $but that he'd waive it. I sent my son to go get it taken care of. He had our ball with him so that he could just insert it there and go straight to the farm stand. It is 4,9 miles from our home to the U-haul on E. Washington. We he got there the store was closed and the U-haul rep was waiting in his truck; he handed my son the entire ball mount including the U-haul ball, and the receiver/shank. My son told him that we had our own ball -which he knew- and that the u-haul ball was too big. He said that we'd have to take it off but my son told him that we didn't have the tool. He told him he just needed a wrench and drove off. The ball was screwed on so tight that we were unable to remove it after an hour of try. U-haul has a special machine they use to remove the ball which we knew but the man didn't want to take the time to do it. So the next morning I had to driv ethe truck back to U-haul to have them remove their ball so that we could insert our own. There was a different man named Joseph; we was rude and resistant to helping us. He tried to up sale me an entire ball/shank unit! I told him I didn't need the unit I just needed him to remove their ball and replace it with ours. He was angry but he went to the truck, removed the unit and went into their garage area where they have the proper tool to remove the ball; it was nevertheless difficult for him to remove the ball and it took several minutes and a lot of banging. He came out and handed me the unit and I asked him to please put our ball in which he clearly did not want to do. I also asked him about the mileage issue because I would have driven 20 extra mile just to get this issue resolved. He said I he probably couldn't do it and that IF he did it it would have to be when I brought the truck back or I would just have to call customer service as it might be a customer service issue and that he didn't have time to continue to address my concerns because he had customers! I reminded him that I was a customer and I told him that it was already a customer service issue. When I returned the truck later the same day, there was a different crew working. The man that had originally helped me was there and also another man who was the acting manager. (The store manager had a death in the family and was not there). The acting manager took the keys and went out to the truck. I followed him and told him that my ball was on the hitch unit and would have to be removed. He said "oh, yeah, Joseph told me about that." I went back inside to wait and when the man who had helped me originally was free, I went to him to address the mileage issue associated with the problem of the hitch. He said I would have to talk to the other guy who was the acting manager so I waited. When he finished removing my ball _which took about 15 minutes, he came in, handed it to me a told me that my receipt had been sent to me. I asked him why he had sent me my receipt before I had spoken with him. He told me that he didn't know there was an issue and that i should have told him that when he went out to the truck because he handle it in the truck (As if I knew this??) I said oh so you didn't know about this issue? He answered no but this was a lie because Joseph had already let him know the issue. (This came out later in the conversation or slipped out) I told him that 20 miles should be refunded to me because those miles were related to the issue of the tow hitch. He said there was nothing he could do and that I'd have to call customer service. I asked him if he was the acting manager why couldn't he handle this. He then said he didn't think I was owed a refund. Oh, I said. so you DO know about my issues and you CAN help me, you just don't want to. He said yes and that it was my responsibility to have my own tow equipment. I told him that the man who originally help me (who was sitting right there) did ask me if I had my own ball to which I replied yes but that the receiver (ball mount) was not on the truck and that the trips that I had mad (4 total there and back) were all related to fixing the original issue. The name of the two rude man were Joseph and the acting manager was Justin Cruser. He finally agreed to refund HALF of the 20 miles in dispute but I do believe that the entire amount should have been refunded. I also strongly believe that all three men should be retrained with customer service and I do think that whatever the ball mount/ball policy is that is should be posted but also that the customer should be told clearly what is required of them as it pertains to tow hitches. Lady checking us in was unfriendly. I'm handicap and was sent to the front of a big lot to get the vehicle which was just leased to another person. Truck was pulling to one side when you braked. When I went to get truck I was early and was told it was not there yet. I waited 45 min until the time and the truck that I was rented had been sitting there the entire time. Experience except for returning truck was negative. Person who I returned truck to was the only good thing about this experience. I realize it is hard to get help these days but if you don't get someone who can greet the customer and look and act decent, then you may as well clothes your doors. She spoke like a robot and nothing she said was helpful. Other locations actually give you customer service and treat you decent. I used this facility for a full year and did not experience anything but first class service. The climate control and cleanliness of all areas (including restrooms) is outstanding. The area set aside to leave/pickup unwanted items is an added bonus. In addition to the helpful staff, what I probably liked most was the ability to pull my vehicle inside, out of the weather, to load/unload. Should the situation arise in the future where I am in need of extra storage, I will definitely use this location again and highly recommend them to others. Something unexpected. After picking the truck up, started loading and later realized the truck was fur of roaches. Hiding behind the wood rails. Had to bomb the equipment, furniture. Told Eastgate Uhaul upon returning so they could take steps to secure and take action of killing these roaches. Everything that could possibly go wrong with the move had making the already stressful process a longer endeavor over three days time. I had only a one bedroom apartment to move to storage unit and was already packed. My next location was not ready for move in until November 1st and I was to be out of my old apartment by November 7th. There were many delays regarding finding the truck necessary for the move to finding the proper storage unit, movers were late and inefficient three times, leaving me at one of the locations to complete another move and continue later in the day. The truck rented had battery issues and would not start stalling at the unit. Late at night I had to wait close to two hours for roadside assistance of which declared it was too late to replace the battery. I had to extend rental of the truck a total of three times. Points of clear communication not met between manager and employees. It was very painful and time consuming to say the least with many unnecessary trips and charges. I was only charged for one day however I don't feel I should be charged for neither the unit nor the truck. Or in the very least any more deadlines.Erika T.

After walking out to the cargo van with the dolly I had rented, I went back to the desk to check about the fuel level on the van being just over 1/2 tank when the contract had it as being just under a full tank. The employee helped correct this and it seemed like this was an error on the part of whoever checked in the vehicle, because the photos from the previous customer showed the fuel level was just over 1/2 tank when returned. I walked around the vehicle and did not find any damage to report, but once I was ready to load my items into the back of the cargo van I realized that the floor of it was covered in dirt and grass/stray where it was not cleaned out properly before I rented it. I swept it out before loading my items but could not clear all of the dirty and debris. There was a sign inside the van saying "Save 25 $return clean to avoid service charge..." and I mentioned the dirt and sign to the after-hours phone rep I spoke with when dropping off the van. She said it was okay since I was returning it in better condition than I had picked it up, and for me to leave the dolly in the van since the self-guided check-in form did not mention what to do with it. Overall, a good experience since I was able to schedule and pick up/drop off the van with hours that were convenient for me but the uncertainty about cleanliness, fuel level and drop off steps were areas that could have been improved.Benjamin B.

When reserving on-line, you need to make it clear tht the times shown in the first box are the beginning times the truck/van/etc is available. It didn't show it and I nearly lost my moving day because they wouldn't give me a truck. I had the corrct time in the box further on in the reservation process.James B.

Picking up the trailer had a line of customers. One person on the Desk. An older women with a ,"MATTER OF FACT ATTITUDE". After waiting in line for over 20 minutes I approached the service desk. I would like to recognize the GM Pam of the Indianapolis East Washington Street location for extraordinary service and effort in helping me through several issues with finding the right storage unit. I rented a 26ft. truck and upon return the gentleman was not friendly because we arrived 15 minutes prior to close. He made sure I knew he was not happy to stay a few minutes over. The next morning I met Pam the GM and she was gracious, pleasant and very very knowledgeable of her store and operations She deserves a raise and someone to listen how to make things better. good job PamRoger R. | Premières impressions

The downside is customer serviceâ€"people stand and wait for someone (to take their order) out of 3, 4 or 5 employees behind the counter milling, taking calls, staring at a monitor, tapping on a keyboard and conversing among themselves without any acknowledgement for an extended time. Like they are all waiting to see who will take care of the person standing in front of them all. It's annoying to be ignored and comes across as a lazy attitude about wanting my business or not.LEANE W.

We had MULTIPLE issues with multiple people. We first arrived and the woman there was nonstop complaining about parking in a lined parking spot. She continued on until a line was formed and then when we told her we were the ones parked there, she got an attitude and threatened to tow the vehicle. We explained that we were taking th vehicle with us and not to worry. We did our paperwork and she mentioned having a vehicle and storage unit. We confirmed. After being there a little over 20 minutes, we were on our way. Fast forward to a couple hours later. I call because I realize I was never given a unit number for the storage. The lady on the phone explained that it should have been done previously when I picked up the vehicle but that never happened. As soon as we got to the storage unit, I went inside to get the paperwork done. I was greeted by two gentlemen at the register. As I was explaining the situation, the man sitting down interrupted me 4 separate times. I finally said I wasn't finished and when I was completed with the situation, he realized what had happened. No apology. We finally ask for a 5x10 and we do paperwork, going about our day. We realize that not only did they give us a 5x5 but the 5x10 was too small. I went back in and explained the mistake on both of our end and requested a 10x10. The first man that cut me off started sifting through units. The woman from the morning comes out of the back room area. She is nonstop complaining about how she had to leave. She then tells the entire room that she terminated an employee, the previous employee has called 6 times, the nature of the termination and how frustrated she was that the former employee was still wanting to know what days she was on the schedule. The man stops what he is doing to listen to her and talk to her. After a while he finally gets a unit and gives me the number. After unloading, taking a second trip and then returning, we were met with the ONLY person to give us respect and kindness. The young man that checked us back in was respectful, funny and extremely nice. He said "Ma'am", "Ms. Emilea" and had amazing manners. Other than the young man at the end, I am HIGHLY disappointed in the lack of customer service and rudeness here. This was extremely ridiculous, time consuming and overall a disaster of an experience.Emilea B.
The truck rented to me had significant damage and the driver side door wouldnt even close properly so when travelling on the highway, there was wind coming through the door. Unsafe rental, ridiculous price for the quality of the equipment rented out. I asked for a printed receipt at the counter and I was told they couldn't do that because they were put of paper, then someone else said they had paper but the computers wouldnt work. We returned the truck via app/online. The app didn't give us clear instructions on where to return (exact location in parking lot) or whether or not to leave the key in the truck or return to a drop box/inside. So we went to return the key inside to be safe and they said to move the truck under the canopy. No problem. We then went back inside to just drop the key off beings we had returned online, and they told us to go back outside to wait. Clear miscommunication, but the overall service was good!Sandra F.
