Paid 104 for a unit went to pick up the items realized I needed more space was made to pay 127 for a bigger unit, then told I won't be reimbursed for the unit I paid for earlier I said ok then just give me an additional unit I was told I would have to pay again for that same unit because I was move out all this in the space of about 20 minutes I ended up paying $231 for a 5×10 unit.... wouldn't recommend to my worst enemySheldon P. | Premières impressions
I paid for a unit then upon getting to the facility I had gotten more stuff than I should have and needed a larger unit, went back to the office to get a larger unit and was made to pay for an additional unit without getting reimbursed for the unit I just paid for earlier... Fix the parking problem for customers at the Jefferson St location in Frederick, MD - it sucks to park on the street when there are no more spots available. There are yellow painted curbs which could warrant a ticket if utilized. This was a bad location selection by U-haul. The staff at Jefferson St were excellent - very helpful.Steve G.
The vehicle has several dents and worn components. Also, my requested location was not available and I had to pay additional mileage charges for pickup at the alternative location. Customers should not be charged for these additional miles.Benita B.

Everything needs improving. I took a truck for 6 hours, Returned the equipment on time and yet i was charged for 2 days. I only used it for 12 miles total. Returned the truck and was told i would receive my receipt through email...Only to receive a phone call saying i have not returned the truck. Two transaction deposit and actual rental fees was charged on the day. 5 days on I am still waiting for my refund of which i was told if approved? what? Not again.Evans T.

Sara went out of her way to get us a 15 foot truck. We originally reserved a 20 foot truck but were bumped to a 26 foot 2 days before our trip. She was so kind and pleasant and she went above and beyond for us. Only improvemt suggestions is try to bump people down a size instead of up. The customer should be liable to pay more for a scheduling issue on the company's part.Shannon G.

To be clear the problem was not the staff at this location. The problem was with the truck. I wanted to return the truck at 4am through self return but the battery was dead. I texted roadside at 4:30am and someone showed up at 7:30am and told me that this happens a lot with U-Haul trucks. So I missed work that day and paid full price for a horrible experience.Erik K.

The personnel on both the morning and evening shifts were very courteous and helpful. There are 2 items that brought down the overall rating: 1. The pickup truck tank was NOT FULL; it was one notch down. The is about 1 1/2 gallons which is about $8 with today's gas price. I did not realize this until I was on the road. MY ADVICE: DO NOT TRUST THE PAPERWORK. VERIFY THE GAS TANK LEVEL BEFORE YOU PULL OUT. 2. The pickup truck windshield was dirty on the INSIDE, really bad on the driver's side. There were no rags or paper towels inside the vehicle to clean the windshield. MY SUGGESTION TO THE U-HAUL CREW: PLEASE CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELDS BEFORE YOU RENT ANY VEHICLE.Theodor S.

Parking! Parking! Parking! I was asked to park on the street in order to rent a trailer. After the transaction I had to go get my car so I could hook up to the trailer. Dis organized. It took 15 mins to return the trailer; all they had to do was check off it was there. I unhooked it and set it back in place. People were nice but, holy shit that place moved slow.Carl B.

This location had the U-Haul type that we needed, although it was over 65 miles from my residence. The vehicle was clean. Although, not maintained. Tire pressure was low and alert was o n when revisited. The truck was fuel tank was 3/4 full. With today's fuel prices that was significant extra cost.Michael F.

Bad check in service at the end of rental. Was told to return the trailer to the same place on the rental lot when it was returned after hours. They would check it in first thing in the morning. I returned trailer and placed it where it was picked up but received a message that I needed to return the trailer the next day 17 hours after it was returned. I called several times but it took several hours to get someone to call me back th tell them that I returned it soon after they closed the evening before. I was told that they were short handed and too busy to check it in. Very poorly handled!!Bruce T.

Make sure the tires on the trailers do not have leaks and are set to the correct air pressure. When I picked up my rental trailer everything looked good. Right after I load it with weight, I noticed that the left tire was low on pressure. I checked it and it was at 8 psi. I aired it up and decided to take the trip home. I ended up having a flat on the way because that tire had a leak from a garage plug that was already in it. To top it off, I had to wait over 2 hours to get back on the road. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!Craig G.

I haul corporate was terrible. First I wasn't allowed to book the truck more than two days ahead, but was told they would call me two days ahead to setup the appointment. They took my name, email, callback number, and credit card to setup the call back on the 28th to reserve the truck. They never called on the 28th. As of 4:45pm I called them, sat on hold for over 1,5 hours between transfers, where I was finally told where and when I could pickup. They had me try to pickup on monocacy st at a location that was closed all day, and there was no truck to pickup at said location. They also told me I couldn't my pick up until after 2pm, so I wasted half the day and didn't get finished with the truck until late at night. When all of uhaul corporate's baffonery left me without a truck, I drove over to the only actual uhaul store in the area(prospect boulevard ) that was open, and the people inside were extremely helpful and got me in a truck immediately. Why wasn't I sent to the prospect location rhe begin with? Why was I sent to a closed location Why was I sent to a location that didn't even have the truck I requested? Why couldn't you take my reservation when I called a week ago???? When I was told I would be called on the 28th to confirm and be given pickup info, why did I have to call you and sit on hold for 1,5 hours, including having the phone system hang up on me once in the middle of it? Why when I call any local uhaul, is the call routed to corporate where I have to wait on hold forever to talk to someone who has no clue what's going on and cannot help? If the number for the prospect store went directly there in the first place I would have picked up a truck at 9am am no one at corporate would have been paid to talk to me, and I wouldn't have wasted my time trying to arrange the rental through them. Corporate is wasting everyone's time and their own money. 0 stars.PAUL D.

Prospect St. Frederick MD. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The staff ALL have great demeanors and work hard to provide a great experience. Only one change or area of improvement..... the parking for customers is non existent. Yes, customer can park on the street but that's nonsense . Customers should be able to leave their vehicles on Uhaul property. The street parking is crowded and someone will 100 % attempt to break into your car. Thanks Uhaul. I cut myself on some debris that was left in the truck from another customer. There was also legos and a bottle rocket in the back of the truck. The truck was not full of fuel like they usually are, and I had to stop right away to fill the truck up. I only used $50 of the $100 more that I put in. I told the lady at the desk this and her response was "Thank You So Much" and not anything about refunding the difference. I had the truck back 4 hours earlier as well. Great customer service from those I talked to. The woman who checked in my trailer was amazing. Warm and funny. She completely took care of unhitching the trailer. She made returning the equipment enjoyable. The crew who moved the trucks around to clear a path was very slow and led to quite a jam of traffic. Other than that the experience was a breeze.ALLEN B.

Train the person who is hooking up the trailers better . Took them 30 minutes to hook up and attach a simple auto trailer to the vehicle . The staff here are amazing and helpful! I wish I had extra money to give them a bonus, they deserve it. The only reason I did not select excellent is the security. While we have to punch in a code for security, I would put in my code and frequently when I opened my unit, the alarm would still go off. The alarm is in place, but seemed to not serve a purpose as it would go off and nothing else would occur. For the short time I was there it was okay, and I was in and out of my unit weekly, so I was able to check on my belongings. If I had to leave it there without checking in on it for a period of time, I don't know if I would have kept my belongings there.Amy D. | Expérience générale

When we reserved our truck, it wasn't available where we reserved it. We found out, after waiting on hold for 30 min., that our reservation was switched to where we reserved our storage unit. We were never informed, but the customer service representative on the phone insisted we were. I was looking at my messages; I was not. After taking care of the truck, the unit we reserved was not saved for us. The only reason we got a unit was because someone called to cancel their reservation while we were in line. My issue is that I couldn't use the storage unit due to it being too small. I requested a refund, was told the GM was 99 % sure I could get one but she had to check with corporate and would give me a call back the next morning. I did not receive a call back so I went in to the store but the GM was not there (surprise) even though I was told she's be opening the store that day. I was told that storage was down nationwide so a staff wrote my name and phone number down and said she'd have the GM call me Monday morning to resolve my issue. I did not receive a call on Monday so I called the store and was on hold for 50 minutes. The representative that I spoke with entered an action claim and said someone would call me within 24-72 hours. I have not received a call but I did receive an emailed receipt showing that I was not charged for the storage unit, however I paid for it and I still have not received my refund or a call from any manager.Teesha C. | Expérience générale

I enrolled in College in 2010 and during the Covid-19 I landed a job in my career in Biotechnology and worked on the Covid-19 Vaccine during the Global Pandemic of 2020-2021...... Everything was great. The only thing I would complain about is the parking for uhual it's very Cluttered and you can't get through anywhere. They need a better System for customers parking there cars. The storage was kind hard to find even with explanation when getting my unit number the guy who was at the front desk never said that there was an inside and that is where I'll find my unit number. Only a single suggestion/complaint - the alarm that sounds when someone opens a unit without having first signed in is painfully loud and likely could lead to permanent hearing loss. Since no one on the staff responds to these alarms, there would seem to be no reason to have them so loud. I was over charged for my truck rental. My bank disabled my card because had excessive charges from UHal. I was told I could drop the truck off at the Uhal facility but then told I was charged 150 for leaving it there. Returned the truck to the correct facility. Elevator was broken on day of move out. According to staff, the elevator had broken the day before but the technicians had not been called out until that day to come fix it. The stairs do not lead easily to an exterior door, so my moving crew was stuck for an extra hour and a half carrying all of my belongings up and down the stairs and were unable to do an additional project later in the day as a result.Chelsea K. | Expérience générale

I had told office staff I wS moving out of my unit April 2nd. They billed me on April 3rd for another month. The unit was filled with mice turds and had chewed through multiple boxes and damaged my property. The manager there was particularly obnoxious and made no effort to return my money. If the staff remains the same, I would be sure to anyone inquiring to NEVER store their belongings there. A month later and I'm still having to throw items out, including expensive wool coats for being chewn or finding mice turds on items and throwing them away. Mice turds contain Hantavirus and the amount in my unit could cause an immune compromised individual like me serious health effects, including deathMaria G. | Expérience générale
Worst U-haul facility that I have ever dealt with. The manager will never call you back and you better be prepared to fork out more money to them if you cannot move out before your month end. Other facilities said they had no problem if I moved out a few days after the end of month without charging me but not this one. So now not only do they get a little over $300 from me but they just turn around a re-rent the the two units I had to someone else and collect double money. Don't bother to try to work it out with them because they will say that it is out of their hands which is not true.
