I submitted to do mobile pick up and on arrival was told the mobile pick up was not working so I would have to wait until the store opened. By the time the store opened and I received my uhaul, my movers already left. I had to move my entire house by myself and pay movers for nothing all because of false advertising. Both times I've been here I've had issues. The first time I was sent to an incorrect pickup location. The second time, no one would help me attach a 1500lb trailer to my suv. When I attached it, the tail light was out. I called for help but the attendant said just to switch them. He said he could not help me switch them seven though there were 2 attendants. I left the trailer where I felt comfortable detaching it by myself (on flat ground) and hooked up the next trailer. Then I had to get the attendants attention to do the final check because he had his headphones on. Then when I returned it, the attendant had not switched the trailer numbers which cause confusion. Maybe the young guy who wouldn't help me is the only issue but I would have fired him on the spot. The equipment was great and I had no issues there.Matthew S.

Instead of bringing the truck around to the front of the store to allow us to leave in an orderly fashion. We were sent to wander the back lots to find our own truck which was boxed in by other trucks. This caused us to walk back to the front desk and wait to have someone at the desk contact another employee who would assist with the truck. At this point I was forced to waste 20 minutes of my time and by the time the employee showed up to assist in getting the truck out it was almost 30 minutes of wasted time. Then when the employee did help the employee just moved one truck and would not drive my truck out to where I could safely leave. I believe this location is encouraging customers to damage the trucks instead of making sure the trucks are brought to them safely. I was so frustrated after the now nearly 50 minutes to get my truck out that I forgot to get my furniture blankets. This all could have been avoided had the truck been brought around by the employee and then the employee put the blankets in the truck not to mention my wasting nearly an hour of my time. Truck was blocked in by a returned truck asked for someone to move it and it took thirty minutes. There were three people there and we were told we couldn't get help to hookup trailer. We also finally got the truck out and found out there was no mount for the trailer. Our reservation was for 4:30 we didn't leave the uhaul place until 5:30 because staff was so unhelpful and nothing was prepared for our reservation.Kaya F.

Very poor communication between the management and the sales team. The day of my rental after 45 minutes of waiting in line, I was told I couldn't get the truck because of an ealert. I had to call a number, wait for one and a half hour for someone to pick up, just to say that the issue seems to have already been solved... I was asked to go back to the store to try again. And indeed this time it worked. The only problem is that now I am 2 hours late because of whatever this was.Gabriel A.

We rented trailer for 24 hrs. Return same day see signs dropped off after hours 9pm we dropped off front of returning . Next day call they said charge $20 dollars extra. 8/29/22 I sent an email to firstname.lastname@example.org about my experience and of course, never heard back, nothing, zilch, nada - they don't give a crap about my experience. The van smelled like in the back, like crabs. They need to seriously get the smell out before renting with the stench. Of course we had no idea until we were at our pickup destination and opened the back to put precious cargo inside. Unbelievable. Everything to permeated by the smell. Flies were attracted to to the smell and of course, I got bit by one of them and had welts the size of Texas. BS at best.james M.

I reserved a truck more than 2 weeks in advance, at a different location. The morning of my rental about 30 minutes before the pickup time, I received a call saying there were no trucks available, and to go to a different location. Uhaul had changed my pickup location/time to a different location and to a time which I was not available to pick up the truck. Very disappointed in the reservation system, as what good does a reservation do if you cannot keep a truck ready for it. Luckily, the Gaithersburg location was able to help me obtain a truck, by cancelling someone else's rental. Get a better reservation system. Staff at the store was pleasant, and very understanding of my situation. Overall disappointed in my first Uhaul experience.Harrison T.

The cleanliness of the trucks. My first truck someone had spit all over the steering wheel. The 2nd trick they gave me still wasn't clean. Someone left their energy drink on the side door & tit hadn't been wiped down. The truck tire was also very low.Vicki S.
My experience at the U-Haul location in Gaithersburg Maryland was horrendous. The center was disorganized, and it took them almost an hour to find my U-box storage container. I attempted to call the center an hour before my U-box was supposed to be ready and I was out on hold for over 30 minutes when I decided to hang up. The manager was barely helpful, and at one time she suggested I come back another day to get my belongings from my U-box. I told her I had called several times in previous days in order to have the U-box ready. I rented a U-Haul van from another location and drove 90 minutes to the Gaithersburg center only to wait around. It was a throughly frustrating experience, and I expected a better experience from U-haul. I had been a storage customer for over a year, but I will not be back based upon my experience at this location. There are plenty of storage options and obviously customer care is not valued by U-Haul.Jonathan W.

Front desk Asian woman was not friendly. As I walked the lot I noticed all the trucks were parked too close to each other. Any inexperience driver could easily hit another truck if they aren't paying attention. U-Haul as an entity does make it easy to check in and out trucks.allison A.

The truck I was rented had a check engine light on. That's not even close to dangerous, may I say the steering wheel was completely crooked and in order to go straight I had to shake the steering wheel from side to side . Very dangerous and Sketchy. Also, as a mechanic and experience working on cars that I have , I can tell that trucks transmission is about to go out, in order to go from a stop, It took like 5k rpm for the truck to move. And the transmission did not shift properly. Highly unpleasant experience , will Not be returning here in the future .Kevin G.
The 20' Truck we were "upgraded" to had a baseball-size hole in the rear passenger tire. We did not notice it until we stopped for gas because that side was parked alongside a curb at pick-up, and we were in a hurry. I snagged a photo of the side of the truck because of the scratches, and when you zoom in, you can see the hole was definitely there. We had to call roadside assistance, delaying my long trip from DC to Chicago. What's worse is this put my dad, me, and my belongings in serious danger! I had a first month free storage available and was ready to activate it but the young guy there decided to just randomly charge my card i keep on file without authorization or signature $235 !!!! When i explained I had the 1st month free he froze up and the young lady there did a refund/reimbursement but that can take up to 3 days ! I was so frustrated with the lack of consideration those funds werent meant to be taken out which puts me in an overdraft situation and tight space for this week. I was assigned the upper level. The elevator was not working at all u-Associates asked me to use the stairs instead of the elevator to move my belongings to the second floor which was impossible and tedious. Quick pick up and drop off. Employees were friendly and helpful. I gave 4 starts instead of 5 simply because of the online experience with U-haul. U-haul website gives you the option to choose your location for pickup/dropoff when booking and then promptly changes the location to suit them. It was not communicated with me at the time that I began my rental that there were issues with the alarm system and that I would not be able to access my unit after hours. The manager was helpful getting in, but we only got ahold of him after about 20 minutes of calling. If this information would've been provided at check in, I would've been aware that I could not access the unit after 7 and would not have driven 2 hours to access my items. Staff was rude. The kid who works there has no idea what hes doing and no one seems to care. Some of the things that were you placed your walk on or damaged badly. You need more people assistring customers.There was a very long line by the time I was finished even though the person helping me was also multi taksing with others at the same time. I was not able to get into the locker I rented since I did not have anything to cut the temporary plastic lock on it. I was not told about this and no one was there. So I need to go back today with a scissor and do this. Please fix your survey and add a third answer. I cannot say whether or not the locker was clean since I have not been able to see it as explained above. Always clean and always secure. I rented from here for many years and aside from the yearly nominal rent increase (went up about $5 per month each year), I thoroughly enjoyed this location. It was VERY clean, always, with easy access, parking, and available carts for toting belongings from the unit to the loading dock. I was given a storage room that was already occupied! So when my movers went to move my items in the storage unit, they couldn't. The office was closed and their manager's 24 hour emergency number kept going to voicemail. Horrible experience ever! My only concern is that I went to the facility after reserving a non-air conditioned unit. When she asked me what did I want I said a non-air conditioned unit. The lady behind the counter then proceeded to give me what I now realize is an air conditioning unit. The items that I'm storing do not require air conditioning. She has therefore double the price of what I have to pay monthly which increases the chance that I might not be able to pay. I was trying to get a unit that I'm sure that I could afford every month. Why she decided to give me whatever unit she wanted confuses me. The reason I went to that facility is because I went to my U-Haul account first and checked locations where I can find a non-air conditioning unit on the first floor. I don't want to ride elevators so I wanted the first floor and I don't need air conditioning. The system was down on Sunday when I went to return the van. Had to leave the van overnight and came by the next morning at 9AM and had to wait for an hour because there was only one person helping the couple in front of me who was having some problems with the storage unit who eventually left to go to another storage facility. So I could finally unload the van into the storage unit and I missed a job that I had to be at on Monday morning because of this. The U Haul staff was always friendly and helpful. Sometimes the lines were long but I believe they were trying to provide the best service to the customers. The storage facility was clean and spotless and carts were readily available. The area where people would leave their no-longer wanted items was promptly cleared out whether by U Haul staff or folks' new treasure. This U Haul facility is a pleasant place to store your items. I requested a refund of a late fee in July. The location manager apparently issued a VIP certificate that I never learned about. I followed up with him 3 or 4 times without a response. He still hasn't responded to me. I had to email email@example.com to get it credited to my account. Lastly, I was told by an employee staffing the office front desk that we had to access our storage units during office hours even though the posted access hours are outside office hours! Had they posted that information somewhere, that would have saved me a late night trip to the facility when I couldn't access my unit!Joaquin C. | Premières impressions

Dexter, the front desk person was extremely helpful,He helped us find a unit that suited our needs, He took.his time to explain everything to us and how storage facilities worked.In addition, there were plenty of carts of different sizes to move the things to store. While I'm happy with the service , I'm very disappointed that on my move in a employee car was blocking my unit , I went inside and wait 20 minutes to let someone know about it , later that day in the afternoon I came back and again a different car was there , and today Sunday 06/28 at 11:30 am I came back again and it's blocked , I can't be going to ask someone to move their car all the time I visit my unit , and I see plenty of parking space available , why ? Next time I won't notify and if I damage a car I won't take responsibility , please respect that no everyone has the time to wait until move their cars . We had used UHAUL to store some items from our home temporarily while we had our house on the market. The 1st storage unit we had was at the back of the building and had a water leak. Thankfully, I had stuff in rubber tubs and nothing was damaged. However, UHAUL did not seem to care. I asked for a different unit and there were none available, so I suggested a larger unit for the same rate. The check in process and dealing with people working there is extremely SLOW. If you plan to go into the office, be prepared to wait or be in there for at least 30 minutes until you speak to someone.
