BRIAN EFirst issue was I booked a 20ft truck, to move from Langley to parksville, over a month in advance, then was told 3 days before pick up that there were no 20ft trucks in the lower mainland. Only to walk past 5 20ft trucks on the way to get my 15ft. When I asked why that is, I was told those were "local trucks" despite all of them(including mine) having Arizona license plates (so really none are "local"). On top of that, during the booking process I had chosen the "flex rate" option to bring the truck back to the pickup location in exchange for a discount(so truck would be back and therefore staying "local") So because of their not being able to give me a 20ft truck despite several sitting there not in use, I had to pay for someone to bring their truck across and back on the ferry to make up for the loss in space of the truck. Next issue was that when initially booking, the one way trip was to be use for 2 days and enough kms to get there one way. When I selected the flex rate option (to bring the truck back for discount) it also made the allowance for having the truck for 4 days and increasing the allowable kms to around 370kms(enough for round trip). However, after finalizing the reservation, it changed it to just 2 days. I noticed this issue and had to call to get that fixed, which they were able to do with relatively low hassle. However when I returned the truck they told me I had gone over my allotted mileage and they were going to be charging me for that, even though I was well below the extra amount allotted for the "flex" arrangement. So even though I hadn't noticed at the time I suspect it is that when the booking was made it had reset the mileage to the lower amount as well(the amount for one way, not for returning it). Another issue was during my initial booking I had selected to have the truck insurance added. But when I went and got the truck, somehow that had been removed. So I had to go back into my account after picking up the truck to add that back on. Finally, when I initially booked the truck I requested to pick up in Langley city(which I understand not every location has everything so there is some flexibility there.) but when they did call me to confirm my wrong sized truck, they had it set to be way out in the furthest part of Surrey. So I also had to call back to get them to change that as well. Summary, very frustrating experience. The customer service people I did deal with along the way were helpful, and able to resolve the smaller issues (just not the truck and therefore extra ferry costs of a second truck being needed) but the fact that I had to call and fix so many different things was very frustrating.

JAGTAR BI rented a truck,12 furniture pads, 2 dollies. The service was slow, they didn't have one of the dollies and they didn't even get the dollies and pads for me any way. The truck was away at the back of the lot as well. I would expect that they prepare the order for the customer and everything be ready.

Finally didn't get one way use only truck, I was offered another truck to use for one way but got charged for double, My request is still in process and i am hoping on call from one agent another without a solution. On top of it , AC didn't work in the truck i got and i was roasted in the heat on Sep 1 in 31+ C in truck. Parking attendent in the lot told me AC will kick in once you start driving , never started only heading was on on the name of AC.

RONALD VMy only "complaint" is that on Sundays they open at 9am instead of 7am for other days. This makes getting a truck checked out and getting started, especially with the long line up of people waiting, a late start to your day.
STEPHEN SThe truck was reasonably clean. However, the battery is shot. Leaving the 4 ways on for an hour while loading killed it. We then had to wait nearly 2 hours for roadside assistance to get a tow truck to us to give us a jump. That put a big dent in our schedule. When we returned the truck the yard person noted that he has 2 of the 10' trucks with bad batteries that cause nothing but problems. Here's an idea: REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE BATTERIES!!!!! It's not like that's a high-cost item.

How can I return this truck. At least when customers book the u-haul please tell him all policies book. Or returning. Thank you
RAHUL CThe customer service at the locations is okay. The online booking system is terrible and never works properly. Also at the U-Haul physical locations their bank machines payment machines never work properly and delays pickup and customers have to wait frustrated. Advice: upgrade to a better booking system. And make sure your system takes all payment methods.

NICOLA HI rented a pickup, but was told the day before there was none available despite reserving in advance. They offered a cargo van or pickup in Coquitlam but wouldn't wave the extra Km to get it from Coquitlam. Upon arrival it was chaos. Line up out the door. I understand it's the first of the month but 3 people while I was there were told they had no truck available for their reserved trips and these took 15-20 mins each. I was there 1 hour to pickup the van. People were understandably upset since their moves depended on the trucks. I think I'll use Home Depot rentals next time. This whole experience was disappointing for myself and for many other people. I felt bad for the employees at this location today.

JEREMY Hi was wrongly charged as i was supposed to pickup at 7:30am But instead i was given the truck by 9:10am i have submitted the report of the fuel as well i fuel the tank but the tank was leaking and all the fuel went down.. due to that the fuel came low

MILOVAN LYour staff member who hooked the trailer up, did not check that the rears doors were secured and allowed us to drive off. They opened up as we left which could have resulted in the doors swinging open on to parked cars or a moving car. Very disappointed with the pick up location..
Samir AAfter my first month in storage there was a little issue ( a little dead mouse in my units) but the issue was promptly and professionally dealt with, I was very pleased. Things like this can happened anywhere but the way they get handled is what makes the difference! If you care for great service, I recommend this place.

GARY NThey had some difficulty with trying to install a wire harness that was not intended for the Cdn Solterra model. So it took a lot longer to complete. But they modified it to suit and got it done.
Walter KHave the vehicle cleaned, on the outside, and don't rely on customer to take photos of anything that may constitute damage. We want to walk in and drive out quickly. We don't want to have to critique or photograph anything.

DARRYL MThe last 2 20ft trucks I rented had engine lights on. 1 was blowing white smoke, clearly having blown gasket issues (coolant leak into cylinder) manager tried to tell.me to drive the truck anyways. I refused and got a different truck. Manager should be fired for telling customers to drive trucks with clear mechanical issues. Of it breaks down on a long distance move customers would be stranded and potentially put in danger due to the managers carelessness.

JAMES OExtremely slow service, was told at the counter I would be able to get the ball on my receiver switched to a drop if the trailer was slanted to much since they had no receivers available, the person that hooked the trailer up refused to swap it or find some that that could as he" doesnt touch tools for minimum wage" was already way late or would have mentioned it to the counter then. Drop off was easy so that's the only good part

Manfred SI am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my recent U-Haul experience in Surrey, BC, Canada. Despite scheduling my movers and elevator days in advance, a U-Haul representative called me one day before my move to inform me that they were redirecting me to a different pick-up location at a different time. My original pick-up was only 1,5 km from my place and scheduled for 9 AM. They changed it to a location 10 km away and pushed the time to 10:30 AM. Fine, I had to adjust the elevator time with condo management and had another person come along with me to pick up the U-Haul so my car could be driven back. But the nightmare didn't even start. We arrived at the new pick-up location on time, only to find a truck of the WRONG SIZE. When I called the pick-up location's service, I can hear that they knew the size was wrong and were trying to see if we would eat it. After I refused to take this tiny one, they directed me to another pick-up point with more vehicles. However, the owner of the new pick-up point said they had no non-local vehicles available and suggested we contact the call center. We had no choice but to call the center, who told us there was only one vehicle 15 km further from where we were. With no other option, we went to the fourth pick-up point. Clearly, their system had a serious issue that day (or perhaps every day), as there were about 10 people lined up to pick up a truck, and the online system wasn't working at all. I waited for another 40+ minutes and finally signed the contract at 11:53 AM-three full hours late compared to my scheduled time and 20+ km away from the original place. Thanks to their abysmal service, I overspent $200+ on the loading movers and had to cancel the unloading appointment at the destination. We arrived at our destination five hours late, at midnight, so I had to unload just a mattress myself and reschedule the unloading for the next day. This was a very disappointing experience. Honestly, if I delivered this kind of service to my customers, I'd be fired the same day. They simply cannot deliver the contract with orders scheduled weeks ahead and their incompetence will waste your time, your money and ruin your day.

Another was that Dollie's were not available for rent. I needed one desperately and even bought one but more should be available especially at the beginning of the month where everyone is moving on the same day. Our outdoor drive up storage unit was easily accessible.

carig a | Expérience généraleFor our experience with the storage facility itself, we are very pleased. The unit was easy to access and we felt that our belongings were very secure. Where the low rating applies is for the arguing we had to do and the phone call we needed to make to head office to file a complaint for the issue of our free month's storage. We were told in August that if we let them know of a truck or trailer rental that we would receive a month's storage. When we tried numerous times, we were redirected and redirected so that eventually we ended up paying for our extra month. It was only AFTER we called head office and filed a complaint (Melissa was very understanding and helpful), that the manager got involved and issued us a full refund of our month. We were very disappointed with the whole experience, as the people at your Langley location were not willing to work with us, nor contact a manager to help resolve the situation.

There have been multiple times that have entered into the area with no staff around to see me or anyone else while using storage units. My lock I puchased at U-Haul now has a drilled hole at the bottom of it. I checked a few locks around me and they also have drilled holes. Who and why was this done?? I went inside office to look at packaged locks and there is no drilled holes at the bottom. This is unacceptable and shady! I would like an explanation and and a new lock. Merci.

Many customers are leaving because of that. The remote for the gate that they give you is useless. It has gone down the drain after Tina left. I have spent over $40 000 with them since I started storing in 2011. That's the straw that broke the camels back. Their greed caused me to leave. You guys will find out from other customers because a lot of customers are leaving. Nothing more to say.

When I phoned into the main switchboard and reserved a unit for a move in date 7 days later I was not told that I had to go to the uHaul location right away to complete the paperwork. I was contacted the next day by the location and was asked to confirm if I wanted the unit and to come in and complete the paperwork and if don't they will give my unit away to anyone who walks in as it's first come first serve. To me that does not make sense the whole point of reserving is that it's yours until the day of move in. What if I was coming in from out of town and was not able to complete the paperwork right away I would have lost the unit. That needs to be clarified by the main switchboard that even though you reserved the unit you still need to go in and complete the paperwork in order to secure it.

I registered at uhaul.com and found a storage right away. Also, whenever I call customer service, the person cannot answers. In short, not helpful at all. Overall, the storage facilities are accessible, clean and safe but the customer service needs a LOT of work

The minute you call you're put on hold and forgot about for 20-30 minutes and either hung up on or a staff member just saying um ok and not dealing with the issue. The manager is the same way with no compassion or anything. It took over a week and me getting mad to deal with my issue. I had to go to head office for the langley staff to even do anything. No one wanted to hear about my issue and kept putting me on hold or hanging up on me. Just seems like no over there cares and just shrugs it off, even the manager.

Due to my medical condition I was not able to move my belongings. A friend drop the key off at the office for my mover to access my locker. When the mover got to the office they couldn't find the key but happily let him cut the lock.They even supplied the tool I would've been happy to give my permission If they had called me, after all how did they know who he was. To add insult to injury they charged me a $50 lock removal fee
