There was a mixup with the 8' truck we tried to rent. The system thought myself and another customer were switched and gave us the wrong trucks. I wasn't able to complete the mobile check-out and had to go inside and wait for ~30min while the customer service representatives figured out how to resolve the situation. I was not offered a discount for my time.

Staff was great but... Ensure windshields are clean inside. Have wi-fi available for app returns. Have better lighting in return lot for photos. Improve web site & app return instructions. Advertise The $20 “human” return charge.

Pick up site and time was changed. Was told i would get extra miles but instead was charged for going over miles. The people that worked there were fine it was a situation they were put in.

Pricing is crazy high. .99 cent a mile is more then truck drivers get to drive long distance on top of the head you put in. I think the mileage price should be revisited to maybe .30- .50 cent a mileage.

Was treated a bit like a suspect with an out of state drivers license. This is somewhat surprising, especially as close to the military base as this location is situated. Also, lots of people have homes in the adjoining tri-state area (DC/VA/MD). It wasn't what was asked (provide two references along with their phone numbers... and asking three times what type of car was being driven, despite the reservation stating such) so much as how it was asked.

My only concern was that the horn did not work on this vehicle which I didn't find out until I needed it. This is a major safety concern. I would also recommend having the brakes serviced on this vehicle.

I tried to use the app to pick up the van and it was useless; I had to go inside. It wanted pictures of me, my license, and just "didn't work". It needs work. I was overcharged for mileage. I estimated 15 mi, rolled to 20 mi as I entered the lot, and was charged for 34. :( Receipt attendant was pleasant, but a little snippy because I did not park the van in exactly the spot he wanted.

Pricing, the 99 cent mileage fee is high. I think there should be a special that gives the first 25 mileage is free. I come from Waldorf and Waldorf I haul would let you rent their truck and won't charge a mileage fee if your staying in the Waldorf area.

Received multiple collections notices for a Ubox that had already been picked up. Took over a month to resolve, over a dozen phone calls (hours on hold). Was never able to get in touch with anyone from this location (email or phone), only heard back from them after I filed a complaint with corporate support.

There was a cost discrepancy between the online reservation and what the computer at the location was showing. This needs to be fixed. However, the staff at the location worked with me to understand the cost discrepancy and to adjust for it. Other than that discrepancy, everything was fine. Vehicle was available on time, clean, and well-maintained.

First I will state that the workers at U Haul did their best to help me during my move. They were friendly and creative and as flexible as they were allowed. There are, however, some issues with the U Box business model, for example, I followed the website guidelines for estimating the number of U Boxes and the result was off by half (9 vs 14). The U Haul staff was able to arrange for more boxes but when the shipping of the extra five boxes was arranged those five cost 1.5 times as much as the first nine to ship. Said another way, the price to ship each of the additional five boxes was over 2.5 times as much per box. They explained that the shipper sets the rate and I believe them but a company as large as U Hauls should be able to negotiate a more stable rate structure than demonstrated. Another major problem was the availability of delivery trucks. There was only one in Southern Maryland and it was booked weeks in advance. If you plan on moving the boxes yourself back and forth to the warehouse, that works. If you want them delivered and picked up, that can be problematic. On the other end it was worse. Once the shipment was set up I discovered that the delivery of the boxes was to a location 1.5 hours from my home (Huntsville) and there was no delivery truck in north Alabama. Further, there was only one trailer and there were only two of those orange covers. That meant that the U Help guys had to make a total of seven trips (double trailer) and wait while the boxes were "prepped" for movement. A total of 21 hours of drive time. There was also a problem with availability of a fork lift driver on two of the trips and so two days were a bust (six more hours). The U Help guys were very flexible or the situation would have been worse. In the balance I would say that the people are trying their best (which precluded me from assigning a lower rating) but U Haul needs to mature this business model to make it operate more like the advertisements and web site make it seem.

Only gripes I have: Had a 26' truck reserved for local, 1900 pick up, showed at 1630 to see if i could get the truck, was told that same truck was going to be checked out at 1800 and returned, so I could get it at 1900....yeah, right, what are those odds? So I opted for the 20' daily use truck, fuel was logged properly, but upon pre-trip check, motor oil was low by 2 quarts, not even on the stick. These units should get a proper pre-op before being rented out to novice drivers; otherwise you will experience a higher equipment failure rate and elevated maintenance costs, which all cut your bottom line. Overall, was well pleased with the support of the Staff and overall quality of the vehicle.

I put a request in for a truck at a Uhaul location close to me. Which was 2 miles away. I was told they do mot have truck there. I had to go 13 miles farther. When you are charged 79 cents a mile. It adds up quick. Put pick up trucks at all locations

Karl and Joseph were fantastic. Hire more like them. Re: the truck rental, I declined the hand truck and bag of blankets — twice — and yet, there they were, attached to the entrance of the back of the truck, taking up space and in the way of loading items, particularly long items that had to be lined up. Very inconvenient and irritating since they could not be removed without incurring charges.

Check in process causes the alarm to go off every single time you swiped the card, didn't quite understand why. That defeats the purpose of the alarm system, especially since the second time I was there, I forgot to check in, and the alarm actually was triggered at my unit, but the employees didn't seem to care to check in at any point, or send an alert via email/text.
