Make sure that you confirm the customer's information before telling them that they don't have a reservation in the system. Try not to use phrases like, "That's not our fault." Try not to cut the customer off when the customer is explaining what happened, especially if you're a supervisor. The employees all need better soft skills when speaking with customers.

My experience with the rental was horrible. The truck did not run well at all! The entire 450 miles driven the truck never transition from 1st to 2nd gear properly. I filled the gas tank 4 times at 80 dollars each during my trip! This is unacceptable, and I’m very displeased.

Outside of the fact that I had to rent an additional storage at a fee to me; this location was a lot better than any Memphis location. The free storage I have was too small for all my stuff. If they’d given me the biggest size allotted for the free storage, I’d not have had to rent another smaller unit.

The location and staff were fantastic, customer service was top notch from pick up to drop off. However, the truck malfunctioned twice and the transmission was on the brink. Luckily we made it back to the lot, but this could have been far worse. The transmission light and buzzer went off with a truck over 165,000 miles, causing the truck to stop in the middle of the road. Again, the staff and location was amazing. The truck was our issue. Luckily the staff made this right, when I explained the issue and showed the lights and alarms that were going off.

Truck was clean and ran good but was scarred. What you can do for the next customer is to lower your rates. Or if just because they rent at 3 pm don't demand the truck back at 3 PM. I had to pay an extra hundred dollars for another day because 1, nobody would answer the phone, and 2, because I could not get back in time.

Wasn't acknowledged when I approached the counter the lady was counting money so i stood quietly until she finished probably 3-5 min. After she finished she walked away without saying anything to me. I was just a little confused why she didn’t at least say hi? Wait a minute? Or anything. The guy that did wait on me wasn’t friendly at all and looked like he would rather be tortured with fire than do what had to do. Just not a good face for Uhaul as a company.

I think this location did a great job but it wasn’t my first pick. This was the second location I had to drive to since the first location no longer offered Uhaul services. 1210 Gallatin is no longer in service, you shouldn't allow people to reserve something that doesn’t exist.

I never saw on the site that a deposit of $100 was required, but I could have missed it, but the guy who checked us in, I believe his name was Brandon, was super helpful. I did notice that the mileage listed was 6 miles under what I noticed was actual mileage, I saw it, but thought nothing of it, again, MY FAULT, until we came back, when I noticed that we traveled 3 miles, on One Mile Pkwy...anyway. When I came in a lady was helping other customers asked if we are dropping off. I said "yes ma'am". "Once I'm finished with these fine people I can help you, so put the keys in the truck and wait with the truck" "ok, do you know about how long that may be?" Then she seemed annoyed out of nowhere, kinda scoffed a tiny bit "10 minutes?, and you need to make sure the gas gauge is where it was when you picked up" "I did, there's actually more gas then.." Cuts me off "we don't reimburse you!!" "I know...and you may want to check you mileage gauge.." then she tried to charge for an additional mile and argued about it because I took a time stamped photo once I arrived and shut off the vehicle and said "Are your really going to argue over 1 mile?" YES, YES I AM, BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T PAY .69 MORE ANY OTHER PLACE THAT YOU DIDN'T OWE, AND IF YOU CHARGE ONE EXTRA MILE TO 100 PEOPLE, THEN THERE'S AN EASY $70. First guy, awesome, but her...I'm sorry that she's dealt with so many douchebags that she automatically treats everyone like their morons...

I made a reservation 5 days prior to pick-up and was transferred to three different U Haul facilities. This cost me $100's of finding new movers because I was three hours late! I was moving out of town! I asked for a discount of some sort and they just thought I was being funny. Not only that!!! I drove off and they forgot to put the dolly in my truck, that I had purchased!!! I have never in my life had such awful unprofessional customer service. Appliance dolly was not on truck as requested, but the cost was taken off upon return. Blankets for furniture were just haphazardly tossed in the back of the truck, not packaged or counted. Not sure if this was an oversight or just someone in a hurry, but we were moving from a 4th floor apartment, so if our movers hadn’t brought their own dolly, we would have been up a creek! We had checked the truck the automated check in gave us, but were given a different truck and were told everything we requested was inside. Usually U-Haul takes better care.

Madison location wanted to charge an additional $30 for one-way fee. Hendersonville happily accommodated the change and did not charge extra. Hendersonville location also fixed a bad trailer light connection on the spot, extremely efficiently and were good natured and pleasant to do business with.

A horrible experience, and you can begin changing it by spelling my name correctly. I spelled it 4 times for the employee while he was typing it into the computer. And when l was there the next day l spelled it for him again when we were outside. Additional, he gave me a storage that is the size of a closet, definitely not a walk-in closet, not nearly that large. To top it off, his co-worker who was supposed to show it to my movers pretend to not know how to get in the storage area. Therefore neither myself nor the movers saw it until we returned with my furniture. l considered that to be extremely rude -- it's up a ramp. He did not know if l have joint issues or not. Of course working with trying to get my furniture in that little space took extra attempts and more time. I had to pay my movers for an additional hour because of that. now there's no apology from the man who waited on me, not even for the misspelling of my name.

Educate your staff on customer service skills and ensure their grasp and implementation of this new knowledge. I had reserved a truck for 24 hours but only needed it for a short trip. I needed it to work out of in my yard, hence the 24 hour rental. When the staff saw that I only needed it for a 5 mile trip, they nearly refused my rental, explaining they can make more money with someone else. Wow! I was able to finally rent the truck, as long as I returned it before noon the following day.

There was a new employee (at least, new to me, in my six years of frequenting this location) at the desk. She claimed to have been a former U-Haul field rep, which may have accounted for her smug and snippy reply to questions and requests I made. I have been a Corporate rental customer for several years, and was surprised and disappointed when she summarily dismissed requests that other stores routinely fulfill. She acted like she had something to prove. Normally the employees at the Madison store will move heaven and earth to help you and go above and beyond. This one seemed to revel in her "soup Nazi" position. I'd recommend sending her back to the field, so she can be "outstanding" in it and avoid dealing with actual customers.

I checked in with my smartphone and when I got the key from the lockbox it was for the wrong vehicle. I went inside and Veraetook care of the problem. I also wasn't aware that you could not reserve a vehicle with I debit card until I was alsredy on site trying to pick up the vehicle. I made the reservation for the vehicle but couldn't finalize the pick up with my debit card. I had to call and get someone else's major credit card just to pick up the vehicle. Upon return I was able to pay with my debit card. That doesn't make sense to me.

The U-Haul I received had not been cleaned and had someone else clothes and dried up fries and chicken under the seats and I still did not clean it afterward when I returned it and I am pretty sure I was charged even though it was not my mess. Plus the U-Haul had inside damage which was not a option so I recorded it if need be and then when I returned it I tried to use my smartphone to return my U-Haul after driving all around looking for a place that would even take my U-Haul and the website just gives me a hard time. Tried for Half a hour but it was getting dark so I took some pictures before I left only to find out you have to enter your location to move forward and could never keep signal long enough to do anything

The first trailer the I got had terrible suspension, so didn’t even get 1/2 a mile before turning around and getting a new trailer. When I went inside to tell the employee he said ok and got me another one. He asked me a pen to write down the new vin for that trailer and wrote it down on his hand and said that he would take care of it once he went back inside. My drop off was at 12pm on the 21st, I got to the drop off location at 11:25-11:30 on the 21st to drop off. The man said that the number for my paperwork wasn’t even showing up in the system. I asked him why and he said the pick up location didn’t enter in the contract correctly, but not to worry I wouldn’t be charged an extra and he’d take care of it. The next day I got a call from the drop off location saying they couldn’t find the trailer?! I asked again if I was going to be charged an extra and again the woman that I spoke to said I wouldn’t. This morning I checked my bank account and sure enough I was charged an extra day when I infact dropped the trailer off earlier than it was even said I had to. Nothing but unprofessionalism at both locations that I went to. Very disappointed with the company.

This was our best experience with Uhaul (and we’ve had some really bad ones) by far. While the Trenton location was fine and the Madison location excellent, the hero behind our experience was John Wooten at the Chickamauga, GA location. In true Uhaul fashion, I reserved a truck online at the Trenton, GA location noted above, and was then assigned to John Wooten’s location 30 miles away. John initiated a call to me a full two days before the move, called ahead and worked out a different truck size so that I could use the Trenton location for pick up and then asked me enough questions about my move to suggest that dropping the truck in Madison would be more convenient and less expensive. John then called me the day of my move to be certain everything worked out. NONE of this incredible customer service benefitted him/his location in the least. I don’t know where you found John, but he needs to be running a whole lot more and training a whole lot more within Uhaul. I would drive 30 miles out of my way next time for the assurance of dealing with John again and knowing everything is going to be flawless. That said, the company would be foolish to leave him where he is. His grasp on customer service is unique, regardless of the industry, and it’s truly unique to our family’s experiences with Uhaul. I can’t commend John highly enough, and most certainly have him alone to thank for our great experience even though his location isn’t even listed for review.
