Luckily CubeSmart is a modern business with IT systems that work as they should and facility managers who do their jobs. Been renting from uhaul for over a decade but will be checking with Penske or other competitors from now on. “1st month freeâ€, what a joke.

Margaret A.I did not need the furniture pads because I was using the ubox for temporary storage on my property. I had explained that when I booked the unit. There were a lot of furniture pads, so I had to stack them in the corner, but they took up quite a bit of space because they are fairly large in the package. Not a big deal but I thought I would mention it in case it's not that hard to leave them out.

Can't talk and drive. Is when I was advised. Not to mention it increased my drive time and mileage. Not happy at all! I know someone dropped the ball. In the future I will use Budget which is closer to my location. I would like to also mention, my crew were sitting on their hands waiting for me. They were counting on me to do the right thing. I received a call from uhaul on 3/18 asking why I did not turn in the tow dolly. I told them I would not be there until 3/22 as previously stated. I tried to call uhaul twice and was on hold for over 30 minutes each time and gave up each time. I wanted to rent the tow dolly for the whole trip to Bonney Lake, Washington, but was told I could not do that and had to switch to another tow dolly in Waco which seems ridiculous to me. The staff at pickup was very helpful otherwise, but your customer service is poor trying to contact you and solving problems. Your website did not allow me to correct the errors without talking to a representative first, which I was unable to do. The young man (?name) who helped us get hooked up in the middle of a snow storm was exceptional.

shane P.Improve the app used to verify the condition of the rental. The two options to chose from are poorly organized. First option to accept show photos of the previous renter. No indication of when those pictures were taken. There is no way for the current renter to know what occurred during a gap of time if a previous renter choose not to take any pictures, since the agent told me taking pictures was optional. The second option is to dispute. The issue with this option is the option it self. I was given a completely run down trailer, in good working order but run down and physically abused. To protect myself I took pictures of all sides regardless of condition simply to confirm its condition and contrary to the agent's instruction indicating taking photos was optional. The apps instructions should instruct the renters to take photos of all sides REGARDLESS of condition in order to protect ourselves. And lastly, Get rid of the $150 insurance deductible.

I am not interested in splitting legal hairs with clever terminology like "preferred location." I selected a specific pickup location for a reason. To have it changed at the last moment without any discussion and without any offer of compensation for the added miles and time is just poor service on the corporate end of things.

The worst by far was Jamie Mapes who was absolutely awful during the recent flood at Middlehope facility. I called her number a half a dozen times and texted her - with ZERO reposes. Her staff tried to be helpful, but they had not been trained in what to say to customers and caused huge stress and miscommunication. Moreover, the UHaul policies regarding flood-damaged storage units is totally unacceptable - with UHaul staff telling customers "we threw away anything in your unit that was wet" and not giving clear advance notice of this action. I will never use UHaul again, for storage or trucks, and I will openly talk about the unfair and horrible customer service. We lost 40 % of our storage contents to flood and mold damage, and we were told that "maybe some items were thrown away" with no inventory or photos provided to us. It was a horrendous experience. On top of that, the mold that we found in our contents was much older than the recent flood event, which means that the flooding has been happening for months or even years, with NO notification to the customers.

When I finally moved all of my belongings out during the week of May 23,2021, I experienced my first and only hiccup! Due to the fact I was paying for 2-different units and I emptied both out within a week of each other, a staff member erroneously confirmed my move-out for my 2nd unit albeit it was not for the correct unit… At the end, I'm grateful I wasn't charged additional fees and left U-Haul as a satisfied customer. Something to keep in my, there is NO pro-rating, so if a customer moves out & still has up to 29-days left in their unit, there is NO refund. Good to know.

There is so much misrepresentation throughout their entire business that I will not use any of their services.

Frank S. | Expérience généraleOver a 3-yr rental experience at this location where not one payment was late (auto paid on credit card for 3 years), the cleanliness was ok. Security was not great since doors to storage were open during business hours and anybody can walk in without access card. Individual storage padlock was main security measure. Lighting was ok, not great in corners. Our unit suffered moisture intrusion once and several boxes were damaged. However my biggest complaint and the reason we canceled our contract and moved to a different facility after 3 years, was the contract update process. Started with a $130/month rate. Went up every year, with 60-day notice, but without any regard for long time customers who auto pay. However in December 2020 in the middle of a global pandemic, the rate went up from $150 to $160/month for the same unit. This happened with no written or email written notice. When I called to enquire UHaul corporate office pointed to the Newburgh location saying "they should have notified you" and Newburgh staff pointed to UHaul saying "rate increases are the location's decision." One manager said a notice had been sent, another said it did not matter if any rate increase notification was sent. The spirit of the contract with UHaul - that both parties need to agree to any rate changes in writing - was meaningless. As a customer if I decided not to make complete payments and reduced my payment by 25 %, there would be immediate consequences including the auction of my storage contents. The other party to the contract however, increased the rate by 25 % with no notice and there were no consequences. This is not how a contract works. When I brought the complaint forward a 2nd time it was actually corrected within 2-3 days but I had to be on hand with the unit to open it for repairs which was inconvenient but necessary. Overall experience with staff while I was a customer 4+ stars... recommended!
