understaffed ,I did 2 pre reservations, and still had to do 3 reservations while there, was told to call 800 # and I could do a 1 way drop off in my town and when I tried they said I couldn't the terminal to do selections and pay didn't work very good and was told by phone service person its the locations responsibility to upkeep equipment

Overall: Was great! Very friendly people working there and everything went smoothly on the day of rental. My only comment would be that two days after I rented I got a voicemail asking me when I would return the van, but I already had on the day I rented. I called back and got the offsite answering staff person, and she passed on the info to the local team that I had returned it.. then later I got the email receipt- so I guess it got sorted out.. it just was odd to get that call and have to deal with that- but I guess mistakes do happen, so no biggie.

overall experience was pretty bad. I arrived at the Danville Postal Annex location where it was reserved and the agent told me that they don't even have trailers. Only trucks. I was not informed of this during or after the reservation. He called Uhaul and was informed that the trailer was in pleasanton, about 25 minutes away. I arrived at pleasanton to wait 20 minutes in line because there was only one person working. The trailer was hooked up and it was littered with garbage. The person that hooked it up didn't even check to see the turn signals worked. I did.

Not a single car hauler was available is the San Jose, California area. I called the Fremont store and the gentleman there, although not having a trailer, found one for me in Pleasanton, California. The first store I called in San Jose, the woman hung up on me, and the Milpitas store was no help. GREAT service from the Fremont store.

Arrived for sceduled 10:00. Mechanic not ready for me. Should have taken 1 hour to install trailer hitch. After 2 hours, not done, was told a screw was missing in hitch packet. Had to leave car over night to get done next morn. Mechanic called next morn. asking to reschedule. I needed car for an appointment so finally got it done.

The in person experience was great. Ted and Deanna are both fantastic and accommodating and helped to remedy the situation caused by faulty online booking. The online and app booking service is trash. Not easy to update. Doesn’t show actual current inventory of available trucks. I had to go from San Ramon to Pleasanton and from Pleasanton Deanna helped me find one all the way down in Fremont. So grateful the staff helped me, but I must reiterate—online booking system = trash.

I originally ordered my vehicle to be picked up in Dublin. I got a text message that I ignored telling me I had to pick the vehicle up in Pleasanton an extra ten minutes away and definitely not convenient. When I complained at the Dublin U-Haul where I was supposed to pick up my vehicle I was told they could not supply that vehicle. I offered to take a smaller vehicle which they had there but the staff would not give me the rental for the same price I had gotten to rent the vehicle in the first place. What you don't realize is how much a pain it is to have to schlep all the way to an inconvenient location because you don't honor a commitment to rent a vehicle that will work for me without me having to trek to another one of your locations. Every time I rent from you, something seems to go wrong that is in your favor and not mine. I think I swear each time I will never rent from U-Haul again. I hope I remember this next time. Your business seems more service oriented then to make your customers feel comfortable.

- The Dolly I ordered was not in the truck when I picked it up. Attempted to resolve via the messenger function for the app pick up in the lot, but there was never anyone replying. So I had to go in, wait in line a bit, and then a guy brought it out for me. Car had no washer fluid, or, perhaps that functionality was broken. It was raining the day of the rental, would have been nice to be able to clean the windows of the accumulated dust. No clear path to return the rental. Followed the arrows which lead me to a mish mash of trailers and other equipment blocking a clear path to getting checked in. A guy waved somewhat randomly back out towards the entrance, forcing me to back up, turn around and drive back to where they store outbound vehicles. It was raining of course, no one came out, I started doing the app based return, but then worried I would get charged for the dolly some how not being returned. Sooooo...I went to the building and scared someone up who came out and visualized that the dolly was indeed in the truck. We went back into the building and he printed me out a paper receipt since I never completed the online return. Great intent Uhaul, but marginal execution. In both instances, I had to bail out of the mobile app to get help from a real person.

I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service. We have a corporate account. The CS rep had to go in and overrride the rental to make it a 48 hour rental. The rep apparently....didn't send it until the morning of, and for 4 hours only and a 10 ft truck. Will be signing up for another corporate account through another brand.

I've used U-Haul numerous times over the years. Typically there are no issues. This visit, I unfortunately needed to use the roadside assistance as the trailer I rented got a flat tire. Those things happen and I understand that, however the roadside assistance aspect was a very negative and frustrating experience that would make me leery of using U-Haul in the future. It was a very poor reflection on U-Haul overall.

No pads. I asked for pod to be shipped to closest location to Cutbank, MT. Rather than Great Falls, it was sent to Kalispell, costing my husband and I a great deal of money to drive through mountains, pay hotels, gas, and food that was totally unnecessary. I was quoted $1,100.00 to ship from Kalispell to Cutbank, when it was only $1600.00 from Newark, Ohio to Kalispell, MT! I’m still being charged for the U-Box, which was picked up 2 weeks before any rental would have been due. We have called several times to get that resolved. We were never furnished receipts (printers were down at both ends, sounds fishy to me). I sure would like to be compensated for overcharges as well as my personal expenses, which I have receipts for. Otherwise, all I can say is that the items arrived intact. Not a happy camper. My mother funded this as a wedding gift, and an 86 year-old stroke victim doesn’t need the hassle. She doesn’t need her credit card tied up with money than none of us owe. PLEASE resolve and initiate compensation process!!! I have receipts for all of our costs. I could have picked my stuff in a day trip (I live in Canada), but it became a three day trip, and longer getting back, because we had to drive the long way back, via Missoula, to avoid mountains as hitch was quite close to the ground. Not a happy camper, nor likely to recommend.

I set up this rental for Livermore, where I live and close to the area I was planning to use the rental. During the confirmation call I was not told it was being changed to Pleasanton and needed to be returned there as well. If I'd known I probably would not have accepted. I was not thrilled after waiting in line for 20 minutes to be told I would have to drive a further 8 miles on a Friday night to pick up my rental truck.

This location was very nice. I have used them in the past and always have had a nice experience. I did, however, book online for my pickup location to be in Livermore as it was right across the street from my previous home. When we arrived at our scheduled time at the Livermore location... the door was locked although it said it should be open. Then the guy working there didn't seem to know why we would be there. I showed him the confirmation email and he told us they decided to move our pickup location to Pleasanton. This pushed back our moving time with our friends to help AND we had to drive all the way there and back when the original location was right across the street. The guy was helpful and the pleasanton location was nice too but I feel like clients should get a call or some kind of warning if this is to happen. Staff- nice/ helpful Booking service with follow up- awful!

Staff was courteous and helpful. The online reservation for storage was misleading because storage was shown as available when it was not, due to open the following month. Otherwise great experience.
