Terrible pick up experience starting in Dublin. I checked availability and they had one. I pulled up and it was in the parking lot. When I got to the counter I was told that the truck belonged to Oakland and they couldn’t rent it. I had to drive to Pleasanton and pay the extra mileage. I brought it up to the employee on duty and was told that happens.

When I rented my u haul I said I wanted to drop it off down the street from my house at one of the options you gave me. But when I went to returny u haul they said I had to drop it off in Pleasantom that took me a mile overy limit and I was charged how dose that work?

You could try having some kind of a buzzer at the desk. Sometimes when the associates are away attending others, one finds himself lost and wondering if the facility is closed. Just a thought.

I am so disappointed in the service we received, to the point that I will look for any other moving companies to use the next time the need arises. 1) I received an email that our U-boxes were sent to a facility in the wrong city. We were not told why this was the case until I called to find out why. TIP: NOTIFY YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT SOME LOCATIONS CANNOT STORE THEIR BELONGINGS DURING THE BOOKING PROCESS so that they don't have to worry about it through the whole journey of their move. 2) We called 24 hours in advance to access our box in the correct city and instead were asked if we could travel to the wrong, incorrect (holding) location to collect our belongings because U-hail was "short staffed at the time." DON'T ASK YOUR CUSTOMERS TO MAKE UP FOR YOUR DISORGANIZATION. It cost us more than an extra hour of driving. We wasted additional time because we were not given an address to the holding locations (in an obviously unfamiliar area) and picked the wrong of 2 addresses listed for U-haul locations in city. 3) Upon arriving we were not given clear instructions of where to access our boxes. After driving around the building a few times and finally finding them, we discovered that both of our locks had been broken -- one of them was hanging open! We were given two new locks, but to improve for the next customer you could NOT BREAK THEIR BELONGINGS in the first place. 4) When we were ready to collect all of our things, we made reservations to get a truck and take our boxes more that 24 hours in advance. However, when we arrived, our boxes were not ready and the location only had one person working at the desk to help customers. We waited in line and then for our stuff to be pulled for over 2 hours! This is ridiculous considering we had given advanced notice. I understand that it might have been an unexpected rush of customers, but YOU SHOULD HAVE PULLED THINGS TOGETHER AND HAD THEM WAITING FOR US WHEN WE GOT THERE, seeing as we had a prearranged time to pick it all up. The people in line behind us had put in an order of boxes and packing materials to pick up. They also gave a days notice. The items should have been gathered and waiting. 5) When a customer picks up a truck to borrow DON'T SEND THEM OFF WITH ONLY 1/8TH OF A TANK OF GAS. We were already 2 hours behind schedule from waiting for you to get your sh*t together and were trying to plan around the rain and when our friends/family could come to help us move but we couldn't get on the road because we had to stop for gas. 6) Upon receiving our first U-box we noticed that the door latches did not line up properly. The door did stay closed however so we didn't think much of it. Upon unloading our box, we noticed that the latches were even more misaligned, and as we began unloading, we could see that the whole right wall was coming unscrewed/un-nailed form the floor of the box. I originally worked with Michelle Woods at the Dublin location, she was fantastic since the previous user of the trailer did not return it, Michelle found another trailer at the Pleasanton location. Haley Berreno at Pleasanton was also very helpful since I have never hauled a trailer before. They both were wonderful to work with. Buy them a lunch or other commensurate recognition.

I booked online using my iPhone. Either I didn't notice, or the web site did not make it clear, that the trailer wasn't available at my desired location. The email confirmation showed my pickup was at the desired location, but when I arrived there they said they didn't have a trailer. I then had to travel to this location and I received the final email stating the location for pickup had changed. That needs to be handled better. I did the express check-in, but when I checked out at the location I still had to answer some of the same questions again (i.e. damage waiver). Why?

When I made the reservation, I asked for the pickup to be in Dublin. The day before I got an e-mail saying the truck had to be picked up in Pleasanton. I called and was told there was no truck available in Dublin and we would have to pick up in Hayward which did not open until 9 AM. Since it was someone I had hired to move for me, I was not going to be there, I made arrangements for him to pick up the truck before the shop opened. I was also told they would still be able to charge my credit card on file, not his, even though I wouldn't be there and they would include notes in my file to reflect this. My driver was not able to get the truck before the store opened, and when he spoke to someone in Hayward when they opened, he was told they DID NOT HAVE THE TRUCK. He was forced to go to a third location to get the truck, and then they charged his credit card and would not accept mine. Overall, it was a terribly unprofessional experience.
