The person that was in the garage was rude and dismissive. He wouldn't check the pressure on all the tires (even though the tire pressure indicator was on) he filed the passenger front tire to 80psi when it should be 52psi. He then when said that the indicator would clear only only when being driven. I had to take the vehicle to my own garage to correct the air pressure on the passenger front (bringing it down to 52psi) and the passenger rear (increasing to 71psi from 32psi). The drivers side was only if by a few psi (probable caused by the slightly cooler weather). The indicator cleared immediately as soon as the tire pressure was corrected (no driving necessary). All windows in the vehicle were dirty which was clearly visible once it was dark and headlights hit it. Additionally the side cargo door wouldn't seal with constant rattling and air noise although completely closed. I requested a credit on this rental but so far attempt had been made to rectify the situation from U-Haul's side.

I walked into the store with a mask on. I smiled at two customers that were standing in the store. I never even spoke any words at all and the man working at the counter yelled out at me and said that if I continue to yell out loud that he would not wait on me. I told him that I hadn't said anything at all. He continued to yell at me and repeated himself and said that he would not wait on me and that I would have to leave the store. When it was my turn to pay for my truck rental I told him again that I hadn't spoke anything at all and why was he saying this to me. I feel that because I was WHITE woman and he was a BLACK man working the counter that he had the power to treat me like as badly as he wanted. A person with this kind of racist attitude and behavior should not be allowed to service the public. I would like a response from your corporate office concerning this terrible treatment that I received from one of your employees. I have been renting trucks from your store for over twelve years. I am appalled and disappointed to have been treated like that.

Give flat rate with unlimited miles options. Capability of pick up and dropping off truck at different location closer to your moving destination. Overall the service was good but I would love the options above to save me more time and money.

Excellent, brand new Chevy van for 2 weeks. Excellent staff, very convenient north side location, easy to get to by public trans. You should lower the collision coverage cost: $300+ for 2 weeks???? That is over a $7800 yearly rate!!!!

You're mileage rates are ridiculously over price, sometimes the customer won't know the exact mileage so why over charge them on mileage they don't know 46 dollars on mileage is ridiculous

For starters I called and verified I could check in on phone and said yes because I needed vehicle at 6:15am and couldn't access vehicle until 7am. Lastly rental checker John verbally attacked me because I pulled vehicle on wrong side - manager made exception and he verbally went off on me . I said have a good day - he said “look whose talking bitch”

Be honest about the size of the trucks. Online dimensions show things like a 15 foot truck, doesn't mention that includes 3 feet of that little attic space, and it is really only 12 feet long. I agreed with a couple of other customers that were at the U-Haul at the same time that is really deceptive. Of course, by the time I got there for pick up, there were no larger trucks.

Booked a Chicago to Huntley. I drop the uhaul off at Huntley and tell me to bring it back to Chicago. I paid gas and tolls for my uhaul and my other vehicle to pick me up. I get there they tell me the manager will call me before charging me. The manager doesn't call me, they email me a bill. Trash service. Will never use again

I've been using Uhaul for all my moves, and I've had many from moving to buying items that require a rental to get them home. The portage park location is by far the BEST!!! They are immaculately clean, they are fast, they are so courteous and professional. I go out of my way to ALWAYS use this location for all my needs

The only reason I wouldn't recommend this location is because of the lack of on-site parking. I have always parked on U-Haul's parking lots at any time I rented a truck. This location's rep told me to park on Cicero Ave. not in the store's parking lot, which made no sense. Am I expected to take a cab to get to the renting site?!

Bad customer service over the phone, no lock was provided with the truck i couldn't lock my belongings overnight, tried to call the location it was no answer and a 20 minute hold. Ridiculous.

The trucks are dangerous. The ramp is dangerous, the storage units are tiny and overpriced. And the lock you’re forced to buy are terrible.

There's no key drop box so I had to put my key back in the lock box that I got it out of. Just as a heads up. At least I didn't find one.

Nothing! I had a great experience. The employees I dealt with were awesome. Veronica helped me when I arrived to pick up the truck and she was very helpful. I don't remember the gentleman who helped me when I got back around 6PM but he was great too.

Inform potential customers of the correct information. I called to ask if it was possible to rent the truck at one location and return to another. I was told yes on the phone. Once, I arrived at the store I was told that I could not. I would have rented from a location closer to my house instead had I known that.

There was a single employee present and a long wait to be helped. Once I was assisted during checkout the employee was so rushed that he couldn't process my transaction properly. He offered no information on how to access my unit. I attempted to access on my own immediately after being checked out and I was unable to access any of the doors. I returned to ask why and found out he never processed the transaction. I then had to wait again for the single employee to come back from 'hooking up a trailer' which was partly true, the smoke break being the other.. Then this employee was unable to read credit card numbers on his own, I had to repeat phone numbers and card numbers repeatedly over 10 mins for him to finally be able to actually process the purchase of the unit. I then had to ask him multiple questions on how to access, where the unit was located, etc. as he offered no detail proactively.

It was a weekend/end of the month rush for vehicle rentals and the digital systems were lagging dramatically. I overheard a man get upset with the wait and take it out on a worker, but that worker (who's name I later learned was Luciano) handled it like a BOSS. I was impressed with the size of this facility and how friendly and wiling to help the staff were. Especially Luciano, who had come in to work despite not being in the schedule because he KNEW that an end of the month weekend was gonna be nutso. He was running around like a mad man and helping customers and coworkers left and right. Give that dude a raise. The only thing that wasn't really clear to me having checked out my 10' truck via the app was that this facility has two sides and that I probably should have returned my vehicle to the south side of the building so I could actually see the key-drop. Idk if the app can being as specific about the return location as it was about the p/u location.

I waited 49 minutes to have my truck approved by the U-Haul website. The staff did their best but are tragically understaffed. This is company neglect.

I was told on the phone when I made my reservation that the 17' and the 20' trucks were the same price. So I went with the 20'. When I paid, I found out that wasn't true. Very disappointing that the reservationist told me something different.

I called 24 hours in advance, as instructed, to set a time to access and empty my ubox. The call was placed directly to the store, but I was rerouted to a call center. The rep I spoke with set my appointment for the wrong uhaul store. The issue wasn't disovered until the following morning. I received a call from that store manager telling me what happened. He sent my request to the correct store, but they didn't act on it. I called directly to the store where my box was stored midday on the day I was supposed to access it. It was moving day, and a team of people were helping me move my stuff. We were ahead of schedule, and I called to ask if I could access the box early. Again, I was rerouted to a call center. After 15 min on hold and then waiting another 15 min while the rep tried to find the correct storage location, he told me his system was down and transferred my call back to the main number.... where I sat on hold another 15 min. Another rep came on and tried to find the storage box. I asked to speak with someone at the actual store, but she refused to transfer my call. I asked if I could access the box earlier than planned. After a brief hold to check, she came back and said that would be fine, and my box was already pulled and staged. I headed over to load the contents into my moving truck. Upon arrival, the employee in the warehouse had no idea I was coming, and said no boxes had been pulled for the day. Then I went inside where I learned that not only had they neglected to pull my ubox and stage it, but there was NO CERTIFIED FORKLIFT DRIVER at the location to fix the problem. Someone had to be called in from another location. This caused about another delay. When the driver arrived she had to dig through layers of uboxes to get to mine, which took more time. Then after oulling my ubox she wasted another 15 min to put the branded cover on it before staging it to be emptied. We sat at the store about 2 hours for something that should have taken 30 min. total. While we waited, my crew of people who were supposed to help me unload the truck had to leave for other obligations and I ended up having to unload it all myself on the other end. I did everything I was supposed to do in this situation, and I cannot believe how many layers of incompetence were involved here. For the amount of money I have paid, this was a complete mess of a situation. I will never recommend uboxes as a moving solution to anyone ever again. I would also strongly suggest that the centralized server and call center idea is terrible. Customers should be able to speak with employees on location to avoid this kind of mess in the future. It would have prevented all of this nonsense.

I explained my storage needs to a young lady who attended to me, in which I let her know and showed her one of the bikes i needed to store. for one there weren't any storage space that could accommodate my need, except for on the top floor of the building and the rest were to small. She had told me that the space I finally settled on only had four steps leading to the space, when it was actually 4 flights of stairs making it totally impossible for me to get my items to the space since there aren't any elevators. Seems to me she needs to understand the layout of the facility a bit more, Info was deceptive and I left very dissatisfied.

This facility has an extremely poor layout. In order to access the unit, you have to climb a super steep ramp that ends in a tiny landing. Good luck getting a moving truck up there. How is there no elevator?!? I rented a unit and then immediately moved out.

Veronica was very polite and helpful. She even gave me a water bottle after I asked if there was a Coke machine. (I was extremely thirsty after moving everything into the facility on a warm, humid day.) My only suggestion for the facility would be to put in a little ramp of concrete to cover the big bump at the threshold between the parking lot and the indoor storage facility. There's a big bump whether you go through the large garage door or through the small door next to it. This makes it difficult to push a fully loaded cart over that bump and into the building. Otherwise, it was a smooth experience!

I went to drop off my stuff on the storage only to be blocked off by all the Trucks, so I had no access to the drive up ramp not only that but, there was a lock on my storage unit that I did not have the key to so I couldn’t take anything in it even if I wanted to. Had to come back the next morning to unload.

While this facility is convenient, the spaces are rather small for the price. the low ceiling make it difficult for a person of my height, 5' 10" to manuver around the space.
