I love how considerate and informative the staff are. They're so cheerful and helpful. I was only going to use the truck but they showed me around and informed on a good deal on a storage unit, I couldn't missed. I'll be taking my storage from Lifestorage and transferring to this location since I got a better deal and at least I get to interact with employees.

I needed a transporter and they said the same day of the pickup that they did not have it. Then, sent me to another location. At the end the transporter was broken. This delayed me and when I returned the truck late, they h]charged me because I was late!!

Trucks steering was terrible. I felt like Jed Clampett driving the Jalopy. I don't expect a U-Haul truck to drive like it's on rails but I'd like if it went in the general direction I wanted it to go it. Also pretty sure the transmission was about to blow.

The only miss communications was with the reservation for storage that I thought was set up on a call before we came in with a 800 number but the girls here at the Cicero location made it happen. Very happy

I rented two trucks in less than one week, and everything was great, with the exception of one issue. The first truck's turn signal handle fell off while we were driving it. I believe I was not charged for this, but I don't recall receiving the second receipt via email.

The only thing I find you need to work on is to have more customer service people. Most of the time I have been there there is always one or two clerk with a big libe of customers waiting to be helped

Truck had issues. No matter how hard i closed the doors the dash constantly showed one of the doors was open. The seatbelt light was on even though we had them on. The visor clips were broken.

I have nothing to complain about . Very easy process . Couldn't be more satisfied . If I had to suggest one thing is maybe have a team member do a walk around with a customer to point out pre existing damage on the vehicles . But that's kind of covered by us taking pictures and uploading them online anyway so not 100 % necessary .

I had a key that broke when I picked up the truck at the drop-off location. The manager at the Cicero location totally rolled with it and gave me another truck. Smooth and efficient, very much appreciated.

I had a horrible experience and likely will never use uhaul again. I scheduled and booked my moving truck at one location near my apartment and after arriving was not able to use the 24/7 check in. I had to wait until the store opened although employees were walking around and could see I was having a hard time. Then when I got into the store, was not greeted politely and told my U-Haul was at a different location. Not only would the employee not look at the reservation email on my phone but he told me to come around the plexiglass and look at his screen to show me the other location. I asked if there was anything he could do since my movers were at my home waiting AND charging me by the hour. He said no and just looked at me like I was stupid. I had to Uber 5 miles away which doesn't seem like a lot but I'm Chicago can take 30+ minutes. Once I got to the next location, the customer service was 10x better but they didn't have a truck for me either. I even tried calling before I came but your phones go straight to the U-Haul help center where I waited 20 min and no one ever got to me. Luckily, the other location was able to find a truck for me and I can't thank them enough. Uhaul needs a complete revamp of their customer service and technology because it was absolutely horrible and cost me so much money and time with my movers.

No issues with the Portage Park location however the overall experience was very poor. The reservation was made for the Avondale location and there was very poor communication about the change. I received a voicemail at 6:43 am and all it said was that I needed to call back about my location.. I waited on hold for 34 minutes before my fiancé finally just arrived at Avondale only to receive incredibly rude customer service and to be told he needed to go to Portage Park. There was no communication about the location change by email, text or on my account dashboard so we were immediately off to a terrible start. The Cicero location then edited the reservation, although I had already made it with all of my fiancé's information for driving purposes and it was unclear to us that the reservation went from a 24 rental to an 8 hour rental. I couldn't extend the rental in my dashboard online (even though the hold message when calling highly recommends that) and had to wait on hold for 25 minutes to talk to a representative to update the rental return time. After such a long wait it was frustrating that she needed to talk directly to my fiancé for authorization (I called instead of him because he was driving the rental) but I must say she was incredibly patient and kind and allowed me to attempt to add him to the call 2x in order to get proper authorization rather than having to call back and be on hold again. I think the reps name is Desire and she provided great customer service. Unfortunately the overall process had many frustrating issues and very poor communication which will make us reconsider where/how we rent in the future.

I did the pickup via the uhaul app. When I tried to located the cargo van with the number it gave me for them van assigned there was not such van with that number. The individual working that morning had to intervene and assign me a new vehicle.

Office was well staffed yet there was still a line for check in. My person was very helpful in changing my original reservation to a larger unit, although there was some confusion about whether I indeed had a reservation to begin with. Facility was clean and provided multiple carts for unloading/loading.

The online check-in is awful. My first attempt timed out. My second attempt hung for over 20 minutes at verifying qualifications. So I got in line at this location. Lou was outstanding at fixing things and taking care of customers. The other gentleman appeared great as well although I dealt with Lou.

The whole check in/check out process in the hands of the customer is a total turn off and incredibly inconvenient. I don't work for U-Haul. I will be renting from elsewhere going forward.

I dropped off the truck Saturday the 19th and the vehicle wasn't checked in until this morning, Monday the 21. My initial reservation was only until Sunday the 20th, and your reservation process inexplicable added on another day and presumably a charge for that. If your online reservation system hadn't screwed up, I'd be getting charged another day. I also had to call 3 times with no real clarity or re-assurance that the truck wasn't in fact missing because no one could explain why it would take nearly 48 hours for the truck to get checked in. Finally, I absolutely filled the truck up will a full tank when dropping it off and on my exit contract, it's listed as only 3/4 tank.

When people are moving physical stuff around they often need to get in contact with the people that are physically on location. Making the phone go elsewhere is bad. If you can't talk to the person next to the truck, there's something wrong.

Staff absolutely NEVER answers the phone. Had 2 go in and reserve the trailor. I tried several to just ask question and no one ever answered the phone. When we dropped off in tipton iowa they said they couldn't take the trailor. Had 2 go to another location.

The attendant should check the fuel gauge before the customer leaves the rental in order for the customer to dispute the cost of refueling the vehicle. I refueled the vehicle to the level from which I started from; I was charged for another 3 gallons plus the refuel charge of 4,50 $. I do not agree that was correct.

The customer service at this location is absolutely a palling when I return my truck the man receiving the truck in the garage almost sounded like he was yelling at me about why I put the lock back on the truck. Nobody needs to go through this after hours of moving it's exhausting.

When I booked my reservations online and selected the pick up time of 9:30AM for this location automatically changed it to 10AM. In addition, I was not aware that this location was open at 7am, otherwise, I would have booked for an earlier time. The staff at this location did not understand why this happened either. Please look into this as people may assume when the system changes your select time to another time that the location is not open yet.

The girls at the front desk were very nice and seemed to have a lot of patience with some other customers. The girl that took care of me even went back and cleaned the car herself. Very happy with that part but I don't know why I got charged another 20 $I dropped it off less than 6 hours after I picked it up. Can somebody call me about that? Thanks

Sometimes the people here can be very rude. I rent all the time and there are 2 people in particular that I dont know the names of that come off extremely demanding and rude. This place needs an attitude adjustment. If they were my employees that shit would end quickly.

The guy who received the truck at the end was pretty rude, for no reasonâ€"no greeting, no smile, no please, no thank you. He spoke while walking away from me and I couldn't understand him. I had to have him repeat himselfâ€"it was to tell me that the moving blankets needed to be folded. Over all, he acted like I was inconveniencing him, and as if he did not have time to deal with a customer.

The trucks are dangerous. The ramp is dangerous, the storage units are tiny and overpriced. And the lock you're forced to buy are terrible.

There was a single employee present and a long wait to be helped. Once I was assisted during checkout the employee was so rushed that he couldn't process my transaction properly. He offered no information on how to access my unit. I attempted to access on my own immediately after being checked out and I was unable to access any of the doors. I returned to ask why and found out he never processed the transaction. I then had to wait again for the single employee to come back from 'hooking up a trailer' which was partly true, the smoke break being the other.. Then this employee was unable to read credit card numbers on his own, I had to repeat phone numbers and card numbers repeatedly over 10 mins for him to finally be able to actually process the purchase of the unit. I then had to ask him multiple questions on how to access, where the unit was located, etc. as he offered no detail proactively.

I explained my storage needs to a young lady who attended to me, in which I let her know and showed her one of the bikes i needed to store. for one there weren't any storage space that could accommodate my need, except for on the top floor of the building and the rest were to small. She had told me that the space I finally settled on only had four steps leading to the space, when it was actually 4 flights of stairs making it totally impossible for me to get my items to the space since there aren't any elevators. Seems to me she needs to understand the layout of the facility a bit more, Info was deceptive and I left very dissatisfied.

This facility has an extremely poor layout. In order to access the unit, you have to climb a super steep ramp that ends in a tiny landing. Good luck getting a moving truck up there. How is there no elevator?!? I rented a unit and then immediately moved out.

Veronica was very polite and helpful. She even gave me a water bottle after I asked if there was a Coke machine. (I was extremely thirsty after moving everything into the facility on a warm, humid day.) My only suggestion for the facility would be to put in a little ramp of concrete to cover the big bump at the threshold between the parking lot and the indoor storage facility. There's a big bump whether you go through the large garage door or through the small door next to it. This makes it difficult to push a fully loaded cart over that bump and into the building. Otherwise, it was a smooth experience!

I went to drop off my stuff on the storage only to be blocked off by all the Trucks, so I had no access to the drive up ramp not only that but, there was a lock on my storage unit that I did not have the key to so I couldn't take anything in it even if I wanted to. Had to come back the next morning to unload.
