I think the fuel rate is too high. I drove probably five miles altogether and still paid over $20. Other than that, everything was good. The U-HAUL mobile application is very user-friendly and helped me a great deal.

DO NOT cancel the account over the phone. Phone agents may tell you the account is cancelled, it isn’t until you visit the store and they will charge late fees. Otherwise, facilities are good.

I did the complete online check-in, which took awhile but was said to save significant time when picking up the truck. When I actually picked up the truck I was told that online check-in doesn’t actually save any time at all. Much of what I did online was done over, with the exact same information, when I picked up the truck. I don’t think that part of the process reflects a good customer service or an effective use of technology.

Malik was very helpful. He helped me find my truck when no one else was around (no one working that day who could drive or find the trucks, apparently?) The 2 people behind the counter were less than interested in assisting me. Not personable or helpful at all. From the moment I walked up to the building, the door to the main entrance did not work. Had to locate the side entrance and when I got there the employees behind the desk were more interested in their random conversation than helping me - the only customer in the room - despite the fact they saw me, made eye contact, and chose to continue with their inane conversation rather than greet me/assist me. I had to announce myself and request their help and guide them through the process of fulfilling my online order for a 10' truck. And as stated earlier in my comment, no one was around to even find the truck I had ordered in the lot. The only positive experience I had was when Malik (presumably the employee who cleans out the trucks in the warehouse?) saw me looking around outside and offered to help. We worked together to find the truck I had ordered. He was pleasant and professional. That employee deserves a promotion. No thanks to anyone else on that entire site. I'm only giving 2 stars because that one good employee bumped it up from the 1 star I originally planned to give.

Made hitch install appointment for 9:00am. Was told job would take 2 hours and would be completed by 4:00pm. Arrived at 5:30pm and job was just being started. Finished at 6:30pm. Disappointed that I had to wait an additional hour given that I had made a morning appointment.

This facility has some strikingly good and strikingly bad features. The good: all the personnel with whom I've interacted except for one have been polite, friendly, and helpful. The bad: the computerized equipment. Not only is the staff hampered by a slow computer system, the after hours access seems to be completely non-functional. I thought I was getting 24 hour access. The Customer Help People I called told me I had 24 hour access. But the system wouldn't let me in on the two occasions I desperately needed entrance. I plan to deduct some of my rental payment because of this. It's unacceptible. GET IT FIXED.

There are too many issues about this one experience and that doesn't include all the other times I've had bad experiences here and why I will never ever use any Uhaul again. Mostly, The staff is rude, slow, and not very accommodating. I have been renting storage here for a while now and every time in need something from the staff you have to wait in line an extremely long time and the staff always seems pissed off, so we decided to move out, this is what prompted us to rent the truck here too mostly for the convenience of it. The day started with the OWNER arguing with me that I don't have a "reservation", I have a "Request" for a truck and then very "matter of factly" explained why and told me that I may or may not actually have a truck. When they found one, they aked me to fo out and check it over to make sure all the damage was marked on the truck and said id anything isnt marked to let some one know. We found there was a lot of it so my wife went to obe of the lot workers who was sitting down texting and asked him for help, was too lazy to get up and told her to use the app on her phone instead of helping. She did, but she got to a point where the app wouldn't let her enter any more photos so I went to look for help. No one around, so I went back in to the owner who called someone on the radio. I met him out side and he immediately took an attitude whenI said there was more damage then marked, the mileage and gas amount differs from what the paperwork said After a few minutes of me pointing out damage, the kids attitude with me got so bad that i decided to go back in and talk to the owner again. He yelled after me asking where I was going so I said to see the owner and her yelled back "have a nice day, i know I will". Tom did come out and marked all the spots and adjusted the paperwork. The truck was in poor shape, dirty in side (the windshield glass was so filthy i had to clean it to be able to drive) and didn't drive well, it felt like there were rubber bands holdong the steering together. The ONLY good thing i can say about this experience is the trucks A/C was cold but it shuts off if you go up a hill. The return was easy, but I wouldn't leave until the attendant checked it out and signed off.

While everyone I dealt with at the place was very nice and helpful, when I went to pick up my car the entire rear of the car and number were scratched. As if a bear tried to eat my car. When I confronted the mechanic, he said those marks were there. I’m hopeful the hitch was installed correctly. But I would definitely not bring my car there again unless it was old and already scratched. And I’m curious to see whether U-Haul cares enough to actually reach out to me to rectify the situation.

The actual location is better than the system used to book trucks and storage. There is a huge disconnect between the global call system and the physical locations. My reservations, both the truck one and storage one, were changed by uhaul just a few days before the date of the rentals, although I booked more than a month in advance. It disrupted some plans I had for my rentals.

There was one staff working the desks on a popular moving day and a line of five people waiting to get their vehicles. I did the online check-in and it still took forever. The staff person made me get my furniture pads myself and kept trying to give me the wrong items even after repeating it four different times. This as a ridiculously complicated and stressful experience for what should have been a simple, streamlined process.

Truck was unprepared when I arrived The agent who I dealt with was rude and unprofessional, swearing repeatedly and refusing to estimate how long it would take for the truck to be ready. Based on my experience with the truck it appears that they didn’t complete a safety check on the vehicle when it was finally dispatched.

This location has the WORST service. Waited over 1.5 hours to pick up a truck. Was told that express pick up didn't matter and to "Get in line and wait...". Employees were walking around not helping any customers while saying how their jobs sucked and laughed at us waiting in line. This was just an absolute poor operating location.

The staff was overworked. That resulted in there being nobody to lead me to the van. I was told later that the problem had been that there was an 18 wheeler in the lot.. and there was stuff stuck in it.. and all the employees were busy helping with that. I found it myself, told the sales person whom I had paid that there was no UHaul employee outside to help, and asked them if I could just drive the van and he said yes. The problem was that I had ordered a small $7 dolly. It was not in the van. I did not discover that until later when I was at the place I needed to move stuff. It all worked out OK. When I returned the van, I described what happened and Katrina (your employee) was extremely helpful and took the dolly off the charge. She was helpful in other ways too. I give Katrina 5 stars. And a commendation. Thank you Katrina.

The customer service female was very rude on answering questions and concerns on the rental. Her answers where with attitude and a sort of disgust while sitting down at the register pick up. Was asking about extra equipment rentals. And when explaining she did it as she didn't want to be there. When providing the extra equipment she gave it to one of the outside handlers and told him to make sure I get it. And left even thought I was near her. The handler helped me to locate the truck which was on the side of the building. The handler asked me personal questions which I was uncomfortable with. When opening the back there was red dust and seemed liked a stench of marijuana in the truck.

Disorganized; I was sent between six people simply to pick up an existing reservation and then I was still told to drive over and pick up furniture pads because they weren’t in the van like they should have been. Return was almost as bad and staff made me haul a dozen furniture pads to the garage while they checked mileage. I shouldn’t be doing staff’s jobs for them. Then I was overcharged as well and now have to resolve that.

The interior and exterior of the windshield was quite dirty, which made the visibility poor. Also, the truck got stuck in some sand; what made it difficult to move was the fact that the rear tires had very little tread. Not safe.

After arriving before my 9:00 AM pick up time I waited in line for 45 minutes, then had to go out and find someone to hook up the trailer, then had to go back in a different line and didn't leave the store until 10:15. To make it worse, Tom at the desk told me that if I didn't like the service, I could have rented elsewhere and that I should feel lucky I got the rental at all. He then proceeded with a bunch of other snide comments while doing paperwork; clearly, this man needs to not interact with customers. BTW I filled everything out online ahead of time for "express pick up." If this location can't keep up with getting people on the road on time then they should not rent this many vehicles. Starting the day an hour and fifteen minutes late threw off the entire day and plans. I should be getting at least a partial refund due to the amount of time spent in line and having to change plans. I also want to point out that when I returned the trailer, there were large unmarked puddles all over the store from a rainstorm. This is a huge liability if you ask me, one slip on the concrete floor and you will have a significant lawsuit on your hands.

I waited 50 minutes for someone to get around moving the vehicle blocking the one I rented. By the time I finally got the keys I was told that the 50 minutes spent on UHaul's ineptitude in this task would be subtracted from the time I bought the vehicle. I now had almost an hour less time with the van, which ended up putting a LOT of strain on the delivery I was making. When talking to customer service about this, I was told that other people had made their reservations far more in advance than I had. Which was an irrelevant fact, and not my problem. That's YOUR problem. Will not be coming back to this location.

Understandable as it was a busy weekend but it seemed like the computers were really slow; even the worker at the computer seemed to moan that the system was slow. Freshen up the cab of the u-haul. It smelled throughout the entire u-haul like cat litter. Wait time for someone to acknowledge/check you in was a bit long. Standing for 10m to check in for a reservation could be improved. Once checked in, it was a fast, seamless process and I was on my way. Perhaps have more people working on a Saturday at the end of the month to help with check in.

I spoke to someone over the phone on Wednesday (or Thursday) of this week about the rental I had arranged previously and she was quite rude to me. She did what I asked her to do which was change my reservation from Monday of next week to Saturday of this week but she was not accommodating and speaking with her was an unpleasant experience. I didn’t get her name but it was through a call center of some kind. I was not happy with my overall experience of renting a truck from U-haul.

Picking up the truck was very convenient. The woman who helped me was thorough and kind. Dropping off, however, was unpleasant. The young man grumbled, "Leave the keys on the seat." I had to ask him to repeat himself. I then had to ask him if someone was going to record that I had returned the truck in time. He grumbled, "Yes." He didn't offer me a receipt, he didn't assure me that I would not be charged for overtime. It left me feeling stressed and uncomfortable.

We walked in at our reservation time and the line was out the door. One person was behind the desk and the line didn't move at all for a good 15 minutes. When we finally got to the counter the employee was pleasant and texted us the information we needed to do a self-check of the vehicle. We got out to the parking lot and the app link did not work. We entered the contract number and vehicle ID over and over and it kept returning a blank screen. We flagged down an employee who determined that in fact the app wasn't working and he helped us do the check himself. My impression is that the place is not adequately staffed or trained and that the great employees do not have the tools they need to do their job well.

A little frustrating with the check in process. We did the online check in, thinking it would be quicker than going inside and waiting in a line. Turns out we still had to go inside and wait in a line to get our key. It cut into our rental time by about 15 minutes. Also, our assigned truck was blocked in by another truck and we had to ask someone to move it. We were then yelled at for not pulling it out while we were still in the online check in process of taking photos of damage, etc . Very rude staff in the outside area. Woman at the front desk was very nice and when I realized the moving supplies I purchased were not given to me at check in, she was happy to grab them for me and get me on my way. Reservation was supposed to start at 6:00 pm, we were out of the parking lot closer to 6:30 pm. Need to find an easier way to have mobile check in at this location.

We had our hitch installed in October 2018. First time towing boat trailor lights did not work. Augusta Maine Uhaul said it was not installed correctly. Sommerville Uhaul place will let us make an appointments to get it fixed. Just tried to look at ourselves and found out rear quarter panel is cracked from when uhaul installed the first time. Will never use these folks again

Point out some primary points that may have been missed in the reservation process, such as one-way trucks do not come with a locks and some highway tips (e.g. if I need to use the truck parking at rest stops and remind that standard auto fees for toll roads don’t apply). Also, I had trouble using the truck check system on my phone. I had to go back and forth between the desk and the truck to settle all matters. If in-person check in is used, it would help to have one person guiding from start to finish.

Hello, I rent auto transports on a regular basis. The staff was extremely polite and accommodating and the equipment is clean, well maintained and worked flawlessly. There was a major issue with the computer system and the booking system. The network crashed a number of times and the staff was unable to find the equipment availability due to network issues. I ended up calling all the local locations and finding it on my own. The staff and equipment work great, just need to work the bugs out of the comp. system.... Thanks a very satisfied customer.

On May 31, 2019, I preordered on-line the Auto Transporter. In my reservation form (90122845) I provided the required information. My order was confirmed by email for the 7 a.m. pick up on June 1. Such email constitutes the contract. When I arrived at 844 Main Street in Cambridge, another customer was inquiring about the same equipment. I could hear the clerk on duty informing another customer that although there is only one Auto Transporter on premises and it is already booked, she is going to give it to him. The familiar and accommodating tone of the clerk’s communication with the other customer suggested that the other customer was a friend or an acquaintance of the clerk herself or of the store manager. The clerk stated that because I did not provide the plate number of the vehicle to be transported, she could not rent the transporter to me. Please note that I have rented similar equipment in the past, and such information was not required. The clerk then released the transporter to another customer. Moreover, my original order was apparently altered by U-Haul clerk and indicated that I reserved the Tow Dolly to be picked up in Elsmere, KY. Releasing the equipment reserved for me to another customer, and tempering with my order to disguise such action, constitutes the breach of contract. Meanwhile, my wife tried to call your store several times to find a solution. The clerk did not answer the phone. As a result, my wife was on hold with the call center for several hours (cell phone records confirm that and can be released to authorities if needed). Eventually, Jeremy and Tatiana (from the call center and from the headquarters) located the Auto Transporter in a Somerville store at 600 Mystic Valley Pkwy. The Somerville staff, Jeremy and Tatiana were kind and resourceful. As a result, I picked up the equipment at 11 a.m. – four hours later than U-Haul promised. Sadly, the clerk and the manager at 844 Main Street in Cambridge showed no willingness to resolve the situation. I am hereby suggesting the remedy. Please offer the ways to compensate me for the breach of contract. My experience at 844 Main Street in Cambridge location reflects badly on the entire company whose services are supposed to help communities. Sincerely, Krzysztof Sikorski

Dirty windshield inside and out. Cargo van cleanliness was OK, but there is a gasoline smell in the cargo area. I couldn't put gas in the gas tank, except very slowly. Every time I squeezed the gas hose, it would shut off. Even when I 'trickled' the gas in it would shut off. The check engine light is on.

Although the equipment was clean and functional, I was overcharged for my rental. I called the number on the contract and was connected to the Arizona headquarters. They assured me that they had submitted the request for refund to the location I used and that I would be contacted and refunded. Apparently, none of that happened and it has been a week. I called the location and they knew nothing about it and would not refund me unless I came in with my contract in hand. The lack of communication and functioning is very frustrating and I have yet to be refunded for being charged for double what I actually used. I will probably never use Uhaul again.

Though all customer service reps I dealt with were very friendly, none of them actually advise me that I should consider renting a truck the same location where I rented a storage unit, what size of a storage unit should fit for all the furniture I was moving which I described to them, or that booking a storage unit in advance don't actually guarantee that I shall get one or that it will be on a floor with an easy elevator access.

I do an online check-in and they still check everything again. Something's amiss. I will stop doing an online check-in, since it's useless anyways. I just wish I could order a rental online, and on the day/time of the rental just walk-in and it would be smooth sailing and the least amount of hassle. But it always is the same run-around and cross-checking everything again. To be clear: I am not complaining about the hookup itself, clearly I understand U-Haul must check that my vehicle is properly hooked up before I leave the parking lot.
