Within 30 minutes of being at the Uhaul facility, I walked into an unlocked bathroom to witness someone shooting up heroine. They were not a customer of Uhaul, but were able to freely walk around the unlocked section of the storage facility. They proceeded to loiter for 1.5 hours, with several men loitering along side her. A separate man (also not a customer of Uhaul as he never entered the card access area) loitered around the facility for multiple hours, and seemed to be selling drugs out of the back of his Penske rental truck. How no Uhaul representative noticed any of this going on is beyond me and incredibly concerning to me. I was at the facility for a total of 2 hours in the middle of the day, so I am very concerned as far as what else goes on at the facility. I plan to leave my belongings there for this stay, and would have a difficult time recommending this Medford location to anybody else.

Parking lot had black ice. I slipped on the ice and fell. We told an employee and when we returned to drop the truck off, the parking lot had ice melt on it to remove the ice and prevent other ppl from slipping and falling.

We came on 1/30/2021 to access the storage unit for the first time and were told by the staff that they were too busy to accommodate us accessing the unit and instructed to return at 6:30pm. At 6 pm I called the facility to ensure that we could be accommodated and I waited on hold for 30 minutes... decided not to go in at this time for obvious reasons. We returned the following morning and were helped with our unit. This did take some time and when we left there was a huge line of people behind us. Perhaps the facility would benefit from additional staff to meet the needs of its customers.

When you said the store closes at 7p, take returns at 6:50 pm as they are normal returns and DO NOT add an after-hour fee to them because the clerk wants to leave exactly at 7p.

Always have had a good experience customer service excellent checking in inside but when got outside went to truck kid walks by and says let it run for awhile while snow metls. I had friend there so she had a snow brush and I cleaned off the truck myself I would of been there for awhile waiting for ice to melts off

Pre-registration online was of no value, since truck wasn't even assigned until I got there. No one had bothered to clean off thick ice and snow on windshield and front of truck. Attendant could not find scraper, trying several inadequate items before finally finding one with a scarped on the end. Truck was otherwise clean.

I was first given the wrong unit number and had to return to the front desk. I also had to ask for a different unit because it was up a flight of stairs. When I returned to the storage elevator, the access card didn't work. I then got a new one, but upon returning to the storage unit I found that it was locked. Then I went to the front desk AGAIN, returning to the unit with an employee with the key. But it turned out to be the wrong key, so we had to wait for her to go back to the front desk to get the right one. We finally gained access to the unit, but it was smaller than the one I had reserved, and irregularly shaped, causing extra delays in loading it.

Right side mirror did not work properly. Could not be adjusted using electronic controls. Front windshield was filthy on the inside. Hard to figure out what was on it as didn't want to touch -COVID!!! Both of these problems posed safety issues. From the windshield problem it looks like the truck could not possibly have been sanitized since the last rental. Bill was wildly incorrect as well. As documented in second one sent, initial bill had $101.86 in overcharges. Customer facing skills of staff were excellent - courteous and helpful about problems but the problems are significant. I don't know if I'd recommend or not.

The Somerville UHaul store was ready for our truck and supply pickup for our cross country move. They maintained all the pandemic protocols and helped us navigate to the highway to get on the way!

U-Haul on Rt 16 in Medford/Somerville is an excellent facility. I had a storage space for 6 years and they were so great to work with. the price was excellent and the people were very helpful. I only left because I WAS moving out of state I also rent a van and it was in great condition and worked well for me. . I would recommend them always.

My name is Isaac Laguerre. On the 20th of January I rented a pickup and a trailer from your store. When I returned the pick up truck i asked the the young lady to give me a reciepte she declined. And stated that it will be email to me. I said no, I need a receipt. She got up set printed the receipt and threw it my way on the desk. I would never recommend anyone to your. If I know someone going to your store i would discourage them from going. Customer service mean that you treat people with respect. I like them or not still need to treat customers with respect. I a state employee and I treat everyone who comes to my office for government services with respect. She needs to find another job. Becuase she too busy texting on her phone that's why she doesn't have time to be polite to customers.

The woman who was at the desk on 1/16/21 in the morning, the first station you see when you walk in, was focused on checking her text messages and showed no interest for the customers. When approached, she responded in the unpleasant manner. However, the technicians who gave out the equipment and received the equipment back - were excellent, knowledgeable, helpful - way beyond the expectations. Especially on Sat. morning, when I picked up my trailer in the POURING RAIN.

Had a storage unit the poeple working did not get off their butt to show where it was or give a map. The card key to open the doors didn't work. Upon looking for my unit after 20 minutes I went to the stairwell where the door locked behind. I called several times to have someone let me out of the stair well and it took 30 minutes. They were only a 5 minute walk away. Finally someone let me out but they were rude. The people are lazy, rude and stupid. I will never be back.

Location opened until 7pm on Saturday and had vans to rent Van had 10k miles but did not look new and was very dusty. In the back, wires were dangling. Tire pressure warning - low tire pressure Headlights during, hard to see at night Poor gas mileage - took 6 gallons to replenish after only going 30 miles. Lengthy checking process, rep had to enter info 3 times. At check-in, no receipt given and took overnight to get email acknowledgment.

This was by far the WORST experience I have had with this company. First off, I rented out a 5x8 tow behind. Than when I reserved it @ 9AM and went to pick it up, I was told they didn't have anything at that location. Although I had a reservation. And they informed me to call Uhaul to see what else they had in the state. I called the 1800-Uhaul and they said they had absolutely NO other 5x8 & all they had was 10ft moving truck for 600$. I didn't need a truck I needed a decent size tow behind as I own an SUV to tow. They than said they had a 4x6 at a location, and reserved it thru them and drove to a SECOND Uhaul location in MASS; once arrived they told me at this second location I needed to drive to a THIRD location for a piece, because they don't carry that piece they needed. I than drove another hour out to now a THIRD location to get a piece to drive BACK to the SECOND location so I could get the tow behind hooked up. It was now 5pm, once I arrived BACK the second place told me they had NOTHING. As if I wasn't just there and made a second reservation and they sent me out to get a piece for this rental? After, complaining I said this is unacceptable & they assured me they would get me a 4x6 tow behind. About 7pm they came out with my suv and rental tow behind only to be seen it wasn't a 4x6 it was in fact a rental tow behind that wasn't even supposed to be taken out of state (when initially made the reservation I emphasized we were moving from MA > MD) so this small, i don't even know what to refer to this joke that they pulled out for me to use but needless to say it fit about 3-4 boxes. I had to leave a bunch of my stuff behind, resulting in LOSING out on items sense how it was the end of the month and we were MOVING out of state & some stuff that I could strap on top got ruined by the rain because it couldn't fit in the tow behind. Mind you this was about a 9 hour drive. This joke of a Uhaul rental was charged to my account for about 180$ that's not including me bouncing around to THREE different Uhauls in gas or the piece they needed but didn't carry. I didn't leave that night until about midnight, hence why I made the ORIGINAL 5x8 tow behind reservation for 9 AM. This was the MOST TERRIBLE experience I have ever had. Once I called Uhaul after returning it I was assured I would be given a refund and a call back. NEITHER HAS HAPPENED. This was not only the worst experience, but the most unprofessional experience I endured with UHAUL. And I will NEVER again rent from them NOR refer anyone to them. I will be following up YET AGAIN, with Uhaul about the refund I was told about to figure further things out. But overall UHAUL just wants to take your $ and wants you to spend the most $ you can and make it a hassle. Moving can always be slightly stressful but this experience with UHAUL was beyond stressful and a PIMA that was easily avoidable by the Uhaul company. The only somewhat good experience I encountered with this company was when I returned this joke of a “tow behind” to the MD location, where the lady laughed and said there wasn't even a skew for it and never in her years of working for Uhaul has ever seen something such as what I was given. But still helped me and returning the Uhaul was no issue.

My family and I have used UHaul for years and this location without a doubt provided the WORST customer service experience I have ever encountered with your company. All of the employees were rude, unorganized, clearly in a rush to complete tasks quickly instead of properly, and with complete disregarded to maintenance and basic safety. To start, I waited 40 minutes for them to search for the keys to my truck that they had misplaced without any explanation or updates. Then, when I got the truck, it displayed a low tire pressure warning and a broken taillight that I asked three people to look at and they all refused saying it was fine (I was never sent a vehicle inspection link that worked to report the taillight and later found out the tire was at 30 out of 80 PSI and I had to stop to get it looked at at another UHaul location on the drive). The tow dolly I also rented was hooked up to the truck incorrectly with safety chains not put on properly or at all. Similarly, the safety pin holding up the ramps came out twice on the drive resulting in me using about 5 hours of my time on the road getting it fixed well enough to continue driving. Then, I was called during my drive saying they didn't log my equipment number properly which later posed issues with roadside assistance. I called them back multiple times to provide the right number and to get this fixed, only to have them never pick up their phone (turns out they just entered a random number in the system which I found out when I tried returning the equipment). To top it all off, they were rude, condescending, and not a single staff person wore a mask in accordance with Massachusetts COVID-19 ordinances while interacting with me. This location needs some serious auditing from UHaul's head office as they will at best continue to make your company look bad and at worst keep sending people out with faulty equipment and services that could result in a serious accident.

There was a major pipe bursting in our unit and it ruined many priceless drawings from our children. When we told you about it, including talking to the manager Bob, we were referred to your insurer. When we called them, they put up many obstacles to pursuing the matter. We dropped it. Your units are dark and poorly maintained. I would not recommend UHaul for storage to anyone in the future. We found a much cleaner and lighter unit run by a local company. I wish we had gone there earlier. I think you should warn people that you have water bursts and damage in your facility so they can protect their belongings.

Costumer service was horrible. When I called reps and ask about delivery, they could not find my order. Then found the order didn't let movers know that there were 2 containers So when movers arrived only had one container said that what was on the paperwork So called uhaul site innashville and theywere able to find 2ndcontainer. Now movers had to go back for the 2nd container, and had to pay movers again. This also happened when the 1st container was delivered to my departing address in MA because uhaul told me I only needed 1 container. So had to pay them twice as well I was very disappointed and would not recommend this service from uhaul again. In fact I feel that uhaul should reimburse me for having to pay movers twice both ways. I am considering pursuing reimburstment Hopefully I get a response from uhaul

Luther and his coworker who were there when I checked out were great! I even needed a jump on my car battery and a guy at Uhaul helped. Went beyond the call of duty and if I needed a uhaul (ive rented there twice) or a storage unit again I'd come back in a second. Great people there!

I was given the keys to the wrong cargo van. When I went to customer service, no apology, I was told "just go out to the parking lot and look for someone" - what?????? When I went to to the lot there was no one there. I had to go find someone who finally straightened it out. I was on a tight schedule and this took much longer than it should have

I signed up to drive 10 miles. I have pictures to proves that I did not even drive 10 miles. Truck was 3/4 full of gas. Now I find a $30 charge for gas. Total rip-off. Counter officer was less than pleasant, just going through the motions. Guys on the lot were just standing around, not helpful at all - could not have cared less. I want my $30.00 back. While waiting in line, a young girl was walking in through the doors by the parking lot and walking past the boxes. I reminded her to put a mask on. She rolled her eyes at me and walked past me into the bathroom. She came out of the bathroom and I said "you need to put a mask on you're in a public place" and she scoffed at me sucking her teeth. I said "you can't be in here without a mask" and she laughed and kept walking all the way into the back employees section. I asked the man, Tim, at the desk "oh she works here?" and he said "yeah and?" and she said "she's representing your company with no mask on during a global pandemic" and he said "she doesn't need to wear a mask in here" and I said "yes she does it's literally the la"" and he proceeded to tell me that there are a lot of laws with this "Covid bullshit, what are we supposed to do just have a mask on for eight hours" and I said "yeah there's a F- pandemic" and and he said "she's working" and I said "it's not like she was in your break room she was walking around the store with all of us customers in here" (there were about 6 people in the store). He kept yelling at me about how there are no rules about masks in the U-haul store. A lady behind me spoke up and said "you need a mask if you're near people" and he thought it was me back talking him again and he told me to "get the fuck out of his fucking store". I asked him if there was a manager I could call and he said "good luck finding him he won't give a fuck either" and another lady told me that no one wants me there and to leave so I left. I am appalled at this. I then tried to go to Arlington's store, which was closed despite it being only 4PM adn the doors saying 5PM. I called customer service and the customer service woman told me "they are open until 5" and I said "how am I supposed to go in there" and she told me "to go in through the front door" I said "what don't you get about the fact the lights are off and the door is locked" and she said "They don't close until 5" like that changes anything. I then asked for a manager's number and got referred to Bob who was kind and understanding and stated that the anti-masker employees would be former employees and I hope that remains true considering they are risking people's lives during a global pandemic in one of the most strictest neighborhoods.

We were literally never able to access our unit without having to wait at least 20 minutes for someone to just prop it open, since the code system you have implemented doesn't work. I would tell my friends to avoid your storage service because it's very inconvenient.

I was told when i moved into my first unit that if it was not big enough, I would be able to upgrade to a larger unit if necessary/available. Having decided to upgrade, I looked at the website and saw a much larger unit - and then i called the store and reserved it. I walk in the next day and was told that not only is there not a unit this large available, the room listed on the website DOES NOT EXIST. The condition of my storage unit was average. The people in the office were not very friendly or helpful. I would often be put on hold up to 30-40min and would rarely get my question answered when I finally talked to someone. When I was moving out, they did not allow me to drop my Pod on the property (Unless It was a U-box) so therefore I needed to rent A box truck to transport all of my things to my Pod located 0.2 miles away. All around, my possessions were in good condition when I left, however U-haul as a company seems very disorganized.

I had a question or issue about closing out my unit. I called for 2 days, with a 30 minute wait each time. When I was finally able to get through, I was told I needed to go into the office. That day, I went to the office and the girl who assisted me was extremely rude and dismissive. Everytime I said something, she walked away from me. I was told I needed to call the manager and was not able to be assisted at that time. I live over an hour from the storage unit and had to drive all the way there for nothing. 1. I was very surprised when I got to my unit, I was told it was 6' deep x 6' wide by 8' high. Instead, it was 8' deep x 6' wide x 6' high. I really wanted that extra height, but unfortunately this was the very last unit available on an elevator floor. (Units are split level with some on the elevator level, the other up a steep flight of 8 stairs.) 2. I was REALLY surprised to find that there is no lighting at all within the unit, so we were basically moving things around in the dark. 3. There is a concrete post right in the corner of the unit, rendering about 24 cubic feet useless. The people were lovely. Everyone I worked with was polite, patient, and wearing a mask. So the fault is mostly not with the employees.

The Uhaul team and storage facility were always a pain to deal with. Nothing was ever quick and easy and everything always took 3 more steps than it should. I tried to change some account information and had to call 4 different times Over 2 days to get somebody who could make it work since they never called back like they said they would. The facility was clean and secure but swipe access never worked the first time. It would take 4-29 swipes to enter or I’d have to go to the office and they would reactivate the card. I could never get access after office hours. Overall we used Uhaul because it was cheap and the location was convenient but customer experience was pretty terrible.

So He made me drive back again a distance 45 min and come back an other 45 min drive so i can get the unit next day. I work in a fast food industry as a manager I am always short stuff and costumers come in 10 min before close what would I say I am sorry I don’t make your food ? He had only one customer that was done after 10 min probably he was lazy to do the work that was exactly 10 min cause next day the lady helped me took only 10 min for the contract got the lock and that was it.

Store was VERY busy due to the colleges moving students out of the dorms, yet there was only one person working at the desk who is very overwhelmed by the people standing in line. There did not seem to be a manager or anyone else around. Even though we checked in online we still had to go into the store and wait in line because our code did not work, and there was no free lock inside the storage room they initially assigned us and once we got the lock it did not work because the door was not lined up properly. We had to go back and wait in line again in order to be switched into another room. There was a gentleman who was taking people to their storage rooms and he came with us to make sure that the room was satisfactory this time and that the lock did work. We rented our unit on March 11th, the day before U-Haul announced that college students could have one month for free. I have called the local store several times and no one answers and I get transferred to the National customer service who keeps telling me there's nothing they can do that I have to talk to the local locationfor the free month since we rented the unit the day before the free month was offered by U-Haul. I will still continue to call because the only reason we rented this unit was because my daughter was told to move out of her dorm and we knew if we didn't rent it immediately we would probably not be able to get a spot. The workers we dealt with were friendly, but the store seemed to be understaffed, and the staff that was there seems to be overwhelmed. Perhaps it was because it was the first day after move out to were announced for the colleges...

I had 3-4 encounters with Tom in the office over the past several years. EVERY ONE was unpleasant. Tom is a foul individual with a nasty disposition who is always scowling and is poor at cust svc.
