I specifically requested a truck (one smaller than I needed) from Arlington Self-Storage so that I could get to it quickly; I needed to pick it up in the middle of an on going event. Instead it was made available from Somerville. The truck had a headlight reminder beep that went off regardless of whether the headlights were on.

When I phoned afterwards to ask that my sales receipt be sent to me (I was told that this would be done, but it didn't happen), the woman who answered the phone was surly and ended the call by simply hanging up on me without saying good-bye after I had politely (and contrary to my inclination) thanked her for help. She did send the receipt, but required me to dictate the address to her over the phone instead of simply reading it off the form where it was plainly displayed.

My checkin process was terrible. I am a corporate customer, and after attempting to finish my check-in for more than an hour on my reserved, pre-checked-in reservation, I had to give up and rent on my personal account. It’s been several frustrating experiences renting from U-Haul the last several times, and we are reaching the end of our rope.

There was a long wait for a utility trailer. They asked me to wait outside for someone to assist. No one showed for 30 minutes. After someone assisted, it went smoothly. Likewise, the checkout process was lengthy. Otherwise the experience was good. The staff were friendly and installed a ball to my hitch.

Check-in and lines were quite long. The staff tries to get people through in a timely fashion but the computers make that difficult. The owner is knowledgeable and very kind.

I needed a van on Friday.October 26, 2018 for use on Saturday. I called your store rather late in the afternoon and was greeted by a most polite and energetic individual by the name of Ms. Neves who informed me that she had many and I could come before 8:00 p.m. We made the reservation and I arrived at about 7:00 p.m. The young lady at the counter was gracious, professional and computer savy. Everything was done in a systematic delivery mode. She had a co-partner, I believe Timothy, who was extremely helpful, asking if I needed boxes or blankets, and was also extremely professional. I can only assume that these individuals had worked all day and could not have been more kind to me. I re turned the vehicle on Saturday, before 5:00 p.m. as requested and again, was met with friendliness, courtesy, and professionalism. The true sign of a successful business is the tone set by the employees when owners are not present. I have been self employed for years, I am not the most important person, my staff are. You have staff that go above and beyond what is usually done in business. I have experience with UHaul in Weymouth, Boston, New Hampshire, Florida. The experience in your Somerville store was so exceptional for me. I plan on returning this week to express my appreciation to your staff. The performance level at your store on a scale of 1 being not so good and 10 excellent, I would rate 15. So good, it is off the chart. Very truly yours, Janice Sousa

Desk attendant was obnoxious. Charged me $60/day for a pickup that should cost $19.95. Was supposed to get a call within 48 hours to resolve the issue but never got a call. Have been on hold for 30 minutes trying to talk to someone in customer service to fix the charge. Will do my best to avoid uhaul in the future.

Disappointed that while I did not accept the smart move option when reserving the truck online I was still charged $14 for the service.

The trailer I rented had a faulty right tire which couldn't sustain any load. I had to scramble to borrow the air pump from the neighbor, but in the end had to offload the furniture I was planning to haul from my second home in Maine back to Boston. A total waste of the long, multi-day trip.

It would be helpful to tell people verbally that they should close out the reservation online when they return the truck to avoid liability. It was a super long day and I did not have time to read the fine print. I checked out the truck at 9:30am and returned it that night. The truck was then checked back in by a Uhaul employee the next day around 7:30am (within 24 hours) but I was charged for 2 days of rental and 2 days of damage protection (which is a separate issue than closing out your reservation online) but I called and they said they would reverse the charges for the 2nd day billed.

Both the Somerville/Medford location where we got the truck from and the Hyannis location where we returned the truck for our one way rental were very efficient and easy to deal with. We would rent again without hesitation.

The key dropbox for after hours vehicle return is not a box but just a slit in the doors; keys fall onto ground when "dropped" and may get damaged. Everything else was great, kudos to very nice reception man!

Things went seamlessly... I had called to see if they had the equipment I wanted and they let me know about the online reservation system. I made the reservation, picked up the trailer and was on my way!. They even put the trailer onto my hitch. Checkout was just as seamless. I drove in, they took it off the hitch and I was on my way.
