Victoria E.I rented a 15' trailer to assist me in my local move. I estimated my mileage to be about 60 miles total, which was on the high side. The reason I am giving a poor review was because when I turned the truck back to the location I rented it from (at about 6:00 p.m.) uhaul then charged against my debit card an additional $3 337,85!!! Claiming I drove 3 211 miles! I had the truck in my possession for less than 7 hours. It is physically impossible to drive 3 211 miles in 7 hours. Does uhaul's employees believe their 15' truck can drive 460 mph??? Absurd. Clearly, someone made a mistake and it is totally unacceptable and grossly negligent for uhaul to proceed to charge me. Honestly, how was this even determined and how could anyone not realize that was impossible? Uhaul sent me a receipt and promissory note listing 3 211 miles driven, in 7 hours. Thats some awfully incompetent calculations, and gross negligence. Furthermore, as it turns out, I acutally overpaid uhaul at the start. I calculated my actual miles driven and it was just under 43 miles thus (before taxes) I overpaid by $16.83. I have called an filed a dispute with uhaul and was told it could take up to 3 days to receive a response. However, given the absolute absurdity of the situation and the clear gross negligence of uhaul's employees, I felt compelled to respond to uhaul's request to review my recent experience.

Had to turn around and take 1st truck back due to that issue. Get different truck same issue. But, I ran out of time and was totally frustrated. I should have had a free rental or most definitely discounted. Horrible experience, and I've been dealing with Uhaul for years!

Drop off time was 11am. We originally were going to wait, ended up bring 2 cars to run errands. We got back to UHaul around 3:30, car not done. We waited an hour & a half there, car was finally done about 5 pm. We were buying boxes for our move, asked if there is a Military discount? No. "Is there I waited way too long for my car discount"? Haha, no there isn't. Pay full price when a 3 hour job took 6 hours. Shame on UHaul for having one employee there to handle everything, and no compensation to the customer for their time.

Joshua J.While I rate this site highly, it was not the original drop off site, Was supposed to be site at 112 Dubail in South Bend, except when we arrived we found it vacant and boarded up, Another site was found down the street at a different address, but unstaffed even though only 1 pm in afternoon on Friday. After 2 phone calls was finally redirected to the Western Ave site which was fine, but overall experience was highly disappointing.

Howard D.Close at the time listed on contract. I booked a truck but when I got to the location there was no truck. But there were trucks on the lot. I called 800 number and the customer service person called location. Told me to go back to location because there was a truck. Went back to location and the same trucks as before was there. The location gave me one of the trucks. Ask manager why he did not give me that truck before. He said he only rented those two trucks to be one way. So U-Haul 800 needs to know that the local place will have trucks listed but they will not rent if local. Want some one to tell me how not to have this happen again

But online pick up and drop off was easier than I assumed .

BRIAN J.I rented a trailer. They let me leave the lot with zero lights plugged into the trailer, which means no brake lights nor turn signals. I rented it for 5 days and they charged me 6 because it took him half of the day to enter my return into the computer. You can't get ahold of anyone whenever you call. This location is horrible.

Javen B.I was disappointed when I rented a 6'x12' open trailer with ramp. I was moving a 5-1/2' wide shed, unfortunately the ramp is only 5' wide. Why advertise a 6' trailer when you can't load anything 5' wide. The trailer was basically useless. We made it work but you wouldn't have been happy seeing the way it was used.

Robert L.On the truck we had a few issues. The driver side visor was broken. The clip to keep it in place was missing and I kept having to move it from my view while driving. Also, the airbag service indicator message was displayed on the dashboard. Would the airbag not work in an accident? Cause for concern, I don't know? The last thing was the or license plate light was hanging. It did work but it shouldn't have been hanging.

I returned my truck at approximately 12 noon I was told to give them the the keys and they would send me an email receipt once they checked in the truck. At 2 PM I still had not received a receipt for my return. I called this location and was told that I did not provide an email address so they could not send me a receipt. After debating with the person on the phone for several minutes she agreed to send me a receipt after I supplied an email address. She told me that I had never supplied an email address although I received an email confirmation when I reserved the truck and an email confirmation when I picked up the truck. After getting off the phone with the girl I realized they had just sent me a copy of my contract. I then called back this location and was told they would not be able to email me a receipt and would not be able to print me out a receipt if I came into the office. At this point I was very concerned that I had no proof I even returned the truck! My husband then got on the phone and ask her if she could give me a handwritten note verifying that I returned the truck. On the way to this location to get this note I called U-Haul's 800 number and spoke with Lazaro. He was able to look at my contract and verify that they did indeed have my email address and all they needed to do was check in the truck. He put me on hold and called the location and told them to check in the truck. At this point I finally received a receipt of return of the truck. I almost felt like they were doing something very shady at that location and I will never return there. What these little girls at this location did not realize is that we were cleaning out my father-in-law's apartment who had passed away approximately one week ago. This was already a very emotional day and this just added more stress. I have used Uhaul many times in the past and have never had an experience like this.I am very grateful for Lazzaro for helping me but if this is the kind of inept people you have working at this location it shows Uhaul as a terrible company.

LINDA K.We reserved a 10†cargo van weeks in advance of our pick up. 2 days before pick up, we were contacted and told the cargo van was not available. We had very specific requirements on the size vehicle due to space restrictions with our transportation. It was very stressful to be told what we reserved would not be available. We then revived multiple communications from uhaul that we're confusing. First, it was that our reservation was changed from South Bend to Benton Harbor. Then it was changed to Greenwood,IL. Then the time was changed from 8am to 1am. Then it was changed to a 15†moving van, then a 10†moving van. We called uhaul multiple times and were transferred from main reservations to scheduling to a dispatch in Texas. We were eventually told we had a confirmed reservation for an 8am pick up of a 10†moving van in South Bend. That location opened at 7am. We arrived at 7:45. No one was working there until 8:30am. The whole process was disorganized and stressful.

I was told yesterday I would get a call back within a half hour and it's been 24 hours and still no call back from this facility. And I've been a customer at this facility for a year and a half and as of yesterday I finally got a key card to get into my unit because they said I moved out and it never happened. I would really appreciate a phone call

I settled my account in the first of February, moved my things out and left the keys. When I stored my things in October, I was to have one month free. Each month I check on the storage but the free month wasn't applied. Each month, I had to to correct my account. Each month I had to talk to someone but no follow through. Yesterday, the employee printed out a recept $0. No charges or late fees. So. It will be interesting if I will receive a bill. Uhaul has always been a reliable company. With the promotion, one month free, it really messed my account. Also, card key never worked. The employees that presently working have always been kind. If I have thought renting a storage unit would be a hassle, I should have sold all my things and start over. I rented a 8 x 8.

Patrice P. | Online Move InI have rented and used U-Haul services for years, but this facility is the worst facility I have ever done business with. This facility has the most incompetent employees I've ever had to deal with. We had a U-box to be picked up on Oct 6th, but they did not have it available. We then rented a truck at 3 PM, returned it between 9-9:30 on Oct 7th, and they wanted to charge us for a two day rental. Lastly, because they did not have the U-box available, we were forced to rent one of their storage unit, which was disgustingly nasty and unacceptable. Their were poison rat boxes inside of the unit, no lights and very smelly. Due to these concerns, we told them we did not want to acquire this unit, and asked for a much better presentable one . They proceeded to state they didn't have any other units available. This was the last and only available unit. We proceeded to have the attendant cancel the request, which she said she did, but on Oct 8th, I received an email stating I was first late paying for the storage unit and then charged a $15 late penalty fee. All of this in a 2-day span. We called the facility on Oct 9th, talked to the same attendant who assisted us, and she was unable to figure out the issue, or assist us as to why we are being charged for a unit we cancelled immediately. We have a copy of the paperwork saying the charges were reversed, but it doesn't reflect on charges of the invoice receipt. I had concerns then, and now I see why. This facility should no longer provide or ever again assist future customers. Avoid them at all cost. The entire day with that U-Haul facility was the worst and most unforgettable day. We were in forced placed our HHGs at another storage facility, in hopes of finding someone professionally capable of having it shipped out to the west coast as originally scheduled. I cannot stress this any more, stay completely away from this U-Haul facility at all cost.

I've tried to speak with someone onsite regarding making payments towards my storage unit balance over the course of 2 months . Everytime I get transferred to the call center where they leave messages for the office but I've NEVER received one call from anyone. I live 2 and a half hrs away so just walking into office isn't possible. The only communication I had them is the emails I received when payment was due and now the final notice. I don't care how busy a business is it for never be impossible speak with them. Especially over a couple months. People moce out of town and use storage for a reason. It should not be made impossible for us to care of any matter. Now my storage unit is up for auction if it hasn't been auctioned off already.
