Workers were very unprofessional. Gas mileage was not accurate, inside of the trailer was unclean. The truck was not checked in properly after it was returned. I was over charged and waited several days for a resolution. I had the vehicle just over 2 hours and was charged for 2 days.Komonique T.

UHAUL dropped the ball nearly every step of the way during my recent move. I reserved a 15' truck a week prior to my move at the store on Old US 33 in Elkhart via the website. I called the Old US 33 store around 2:00pm the day of pickup to let them know I would be running behind and after the employee told me they were open till 8:00pm, switched the pickup time to 7:30pm that night. About 3 hours later, I received a call from the manager at your Toledo Road location in Elkhart who was extremely rude and upset that I did not pick up my truck yet and that they were closing in two minutes. I told her I was on my way back into town and that I would not be able to pick it up and that the reservation was at the Old US 33 location. She said that reservation got switched to her location and that she was going to cancel it since I couldn't pick it up. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes with no response from the Old US 33 location, my parents who live near Elkhart stopped by Old US 33 to check if there was just a mix up. The employee there told them the only 15' truck they could get was at the Cassopolis Road location in Elkhart and that it would need to be back by noon the next day (which was not an option as I was moving to Merrillville and set the drop off location as Schererville when I made the reservation). I got back on the phone and after about 3 transfers and 30 more minutes on hold, I was transferred to the scheduling manager who was able to find a truck like I needed 30 minutes away at the Western Ave location in South Bend. Since this was the only remaining option at this time, I did it. I have worked in customer service my entire life and typically refrain from leaving poor feedback as I understand how difficult some people can be. However, I felt that this was worth mentioning as there were no apologies all throughout this entire process and both my dad and I were made out to be the ones in the wrong despite me having a reservation that confirmed everything.Michael I.
The equipment was fine apart from the used wet rags that were in there when I got it. But the service was incredibly slow. They already had my information from a previous time I was in there and it still took almost an hour. And the people working there didn't seem to know what they were doing at all. I also rented furniture blankets and despite reminding the lady working there she still didn't give them to me. I did not get a refund despite paying for them and never getting them.KODIE H.

We have rented here often over the last two years. This was the FIRST time in my memory that the mobile phone pickup actually fully worked without our having to speak to an employee. When I showed up at 9am for Megan rental it was supposed to be open. The location had lights on, but the front door was locked. Then other customers came with about 45 minutes we totaled four. I had no idea what to do. Then 1 hr. And 20 minutes later 3 guys came opened the door went in and locked it. It was around 10:20. They ignored our knocking for about 8 more minutes then came and unlocked facility. Additionally, it was raining in South Bend, the windshield wiper at the bottom did not work. Truck was in great shape and the price for rental very reasonable. Only negative was the truck smelled of cigarette smoke but I understand there is little you can do to prevent folks from smoking in the vehicles. Staff was kind and helpful! Would highly recommend this U-Haul location. Also, we started at the U-Haul location at 605 N Hickory Rd Ste A, South Bend, IN 46615 and the staff there was very helpful as well. Before dropping off the uhall I pumped gas so it would be the same as pickup. The representative confirmed verbally what the gas was at and afterward I was charged $80 and on the report it stated I had returned the uhall with a different amount of gas. I won't be using uhall and I will be reporting this to the better business bereau.JOSE T.
I reserved a pick-up truck and tow dolly for today at 1115 am and when I got there it wasn't available, It was being used by an employee, the employee advised the nice lady helping me to offer me a van. I said what good is that gonna do me it doesn't have a hitch for the tow dolly. I was very angry I had a deadline to meet and was getting no where. The young lady that helped me had to jump through hoops and barriers to make it right, not her fault. I spent 45 minutes it the store before i could get things right. I barely met my deadline. The guy working there had my vehicle all ready - although it was running when I got there so who knows how long it was running, wasting gas for. Check in was fairly easy - a little lengthy but nothing awful. The inside of the vehicle had some dents, which I hope I don't get charged for. Returning the vehicle was quick and easy.Jamie P.

Each month I would be charged late fees, possible lein, even this week I received a phone call to pay for storage $319. I settled my account in the first of February, moved my things out and left the keys. When I stored my things in October, I was to have one month free. Each month I check on the storage but the free month wasn't applied. Each month, I had to to correct my account. Each month I had to talk to someone but no follow through. Yesterday, the employee printed out a recept $0. No charges or late fees. So. It will be interesting if I will receive a bill. Uhaul has always been a reliable company. With the promotion, one month free, it really messed my account. Also, card key never worked. The employees that presently working have always been kind. It has been 5 days since I dropped off my truck and my deposit that was charged to my debit was not returned. Bill was not completed and updated. So I called customer service and they sent and message to manager to get it updated and corrected so I would get my money back. Honestly I was SHOCKED! I have heard horror stories from people while renting uhauls. But I can not be any happier with our experience. The two women I dealt with at check in and check out were beyond FANTASTIC. They were so friendly and answered all of our questions considering never doing this before. At one point I had to talk to customer service and both of those women were freaking fantastic also. Seriously I can't express how amazing those 4 ladies were!Douglas R.

Hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a business. After not opening the location when it was set to open, the GM did not apologize once. The GM was worried about whatever else he was doing more than maintaining the business he manages because as soon as I got the keys, he locked the doors and left in his plow truck. It's disturbing to me that someone who lacks customer service skills could run such business. I hope that he gets the training he needs or is told he is no longer employed.Savanna F.

I was overcharged $50,4 on a rental that lasted 3 hours. The fee was supposedly for fuel that was not replenished despite the fact that it was and refueled to a higher level than when I received the truck. Had to wait on the phone for over and hour to relay this info to customer service. Was told the owner would call me Monday and he did not but emailed me on Tuesday wherein I gave him proof of my complaint and have heard nothing since. I am disputing the charge and this entire scenario has cost me more time than the entire rental was worth. Zero customer service. Period. The truck had trash in it and a frozen windshield when I was given the keys and had to wait 15 minutes to defrost it. Very dissappointing.Judith B.

I have rented and used U-Haul services for years, but this facility is the worst facility I have ever done business with. This facility has the most incompetent employees I've ever had to deal with. We had a U-box to be picked up on Oct 6th, but they did not have it available. We then rented a truck at 3 PM, returned it between 9-9:30 on Oct 7th, and they wanted to charge us for a two day rental. Lastly, because they did not have the U-box available, we were forced to rent one of their storage unit, which was disgustingly nasty and unacceptable. Their were poison rat boxes inside of the unit, no lights and very smelly. Due to these concerns, we told them we did not want to acquire this unit, and asked for a much better presentable one . They proceeded to state they didn't have any other units available. This was the last and only available unit. We proceeded to have the attendant cancel the request, which she said she did, but on Oct 8th, I received an email stating I was first late paying for the storage unit and then charged a $15 late penalty fee. All of this in a 2-day span. We called the facility on Oct 9th, talked to the same attendant who assisted us, and she was unable to figure out the issue, or assist us as to why we are being charged for a unit we cancelled immediately. We have a copy of the paperwork saying the charges were reversed, but it doesn't reflect on charges of the invoice receipt. I had concerns then, and now I see why. This facility should no longer provide or ever again assist future customers. Avoid them at all cost. The entire day with that U-Haul facility was the worst and most unforgettable day. We were in forced placed our HHGs at another storage facility, in hopes of finding someone professionally capable of having it shipped out to the west coast as originally scheduled. It's impossible reach anyone at this location. I've tried to speak with someone onsite regarding making payments towards my storage unit balance over the course of 2 months . Everytime I get transferred to the call center where they leave messages for the office but I've NEVER received one call from anyone. I live 2 and a half hrs away so just walking into office isn't possible. The only communication I had them is the emails I received when payment was due and now the final notice. I don't care how busy a business is it for never be impossible speak with them. Especially over a couple months. People moce out of town and use storage for a reason.
