The truck was very old and not well maintained. The passenger door did not close completely causing a very uncomfortable and loud ride. And lastly it is extremely annoying trying to estimate how much gas i will need to return with 3/4 tank. Just rent it out full so it can be returned full.

mark jensenI've rented from U-Haul now at least twice within a two week span. Previously, I neglected to rate my service in hopes that at some point I'd find that the bad customer service I experienced was a glitch and maybe I caught them at a bad time. I continue to use this location only because there aren't very many options available. One other location I used had very unconventional hours and extremely limited services available. To be blunt the U-Haul store at 3825 SW Topeka Blvd in Topeka KS provides some of the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered. They were impatient and put off by any questions you might try and ask. Both their body language and their answers seemed to be delivered so you as the customer, clearly understand how stupid your question was. I was then perturbed by being told I needed to buy a lock "U-Haul requires" that I have for my container, only to find the same type new unopened lock set in my storage compartment. Thankfully we were able to resolve this and they provided a refund. My last visit, admittedly, was during a high stressful system outage. And although I continued to express my understanding and willingness to patiently wait, (having dealt with these type situations before), the desk workers seemed to lose all sense of professionalism, poise, and confidence. They made clear how uninterested they were in any information you might provide about your order. I can understand how my emailed order confirmation/receipt wouldn't help in a situation like this, but they were just tactless and dismissive. As a military member, I'm quite adept at working with difficult people and situations. But I just think unless this is a company-wide issue due to the hiring and performance feedback practices, corporate maybe should get a team out there to do some serious basic training in effective customer service and professionalism.

Mike RedmonThis comment has nothing to do with the representatives who assisted me, who were indeed awesome, but there was a indication in the truck (I believe from the manufacturer, NOT the representatives at the store), that said to turn the motor off when refueling. Which I did have it off. As a result, I put almost a quarter tank more of gas in the truck than was needed to have it register where the gas hand was at when ai obtained the car. It appears that when the truck starts up, it moves the gas hand a bit more to the right, and as a result, I put more gas in the truck than I needed to.

We had to get rid of our couch since it wouldn't fit. We had to pay a higher price too since it was climate controlled but we were told that's all that was available.

There was some damage on the car dolly which I would call normal wear and tear so I did not think much of it. The damage consisted of some scratches to the paint and cracking in the fenders where they bolt on to the frame. The car dolly worked as it should and we had no problems with it as we pulled the car from Topeka Ks. to Sunset Ut. The problem was when we were returning the unit. See below.

chris towleThe truck had almost 200 000 miles, the drivers door had pieces ripped off where you couldn't shut it unless you rolled the window down manually. It was one of the worst I've ever rented, but the guy at the facility was very wonderful. I couldn't use the app because your people running the app wouldn't let me because I had an out-of-state drivers license and they kept wanting other people to verify who I was and it was a big pain took me over 30 minutes and then ended up having to go inside and have the guy rent the truck. Never had so much problems with your app. He said sometimes the agents are difficult to deal with on the app, and I found that to be extremely true very very disappointing will never use your app again .

The driver side door would not seal correctly so the noise in the cab was very loud, the padding in the driver seat is worn down so it makes you slide to the center of the truck. The door on the box was extremely hard to open and close the ramp latch would not work properly.

James HatfieldIt was very cold when I picked up the truck. The door seal on the passenger side didn't fit and fell off and we had to install it. The loading door had not been checked and if we hadn't checked it before we left the lot we wouldn't have been able to open it. It required a large hammer and deicing spray. It was mostly clean and since we were only in town and only 30 miles total it did the job.

kevin brinkerInstall the hitch that was ordered. I requested an 1 1/4" receiver but a 2" hitch was installed. They made it seem like it was my fault but the paperwork shows 1 1/4" was ordered and paid for. I had to get an unattractive adaptor as my new bike rack is for a 1 1/4" hitch. I would have gotten a bike rack for a 2" if I knew this was going to happen. I have not even received the bike rack ordered from Amazon but know it won't fit without an adaptor. Not pleased at all. This large hitch is unattractive on my Audi Q5.

I was paying $165-$185 for a 10x10threw U-haul and with my new storage facility I am paying $120 for a 10x30 which is way more than enough room for me so now I get to share with my sister which leaves me paying $60 bucks we both have more than enough room and it's still locked with video security and it is claimant controlled.

Two times ago I rented a storage unit and as we were moving our stuff out we found the unit had leaked,fortunately nothing was ruined. When we got everything out someone came out to see if we had cleaned it out including sweeping the floor it was cleaning swept and the person told us we were going to be charged a cleaning fee because it was not cleaned, I told her the unit was clean and maybe she should get glasses. Never got a cleaning fee charged. This last time Odella(I believe is her name) smoked when we got our turn in line, she asked if we had a lock and I told her I had a square Master Lock,she told me I could only use a round lock,when I checked the lock prices the locks hanging there were nearly $15. I told if I needed a round lock I had one or would buy one elsewhere yours were too expensive,I did have one from my previous time. My daughter was using the unit and was paying on time. When daughter checked out of the unit I started getting charged each month for a unit I assume they thought was still rented by me. I refused and still refuse to pay for a unit that has not been used and was vacant since April (?) If I ever move back toTopeka depending on what storage units are closest to me will decide where I store my property. I have used U-Haul South Topeka for many years but my last 2 visits have not been good. Thank You.

They gave me two smaller units almost next to one another, 2 free locks and a month free. However none of this worked for us. We needed the unit we reserved. We returned the locks and were not charged anything. The staff was helpful and tried to accommodate us. We had to scramble to find another facility for our storage at the last minute as we sold our house! Very frustrating.

I was asked estimated mileage I quoted about 200 miles, I was told I was given 150 miles free. I drove 171 miles. That I did not argue about so much. I was informed when I called about the extra charges ,that there was an after hours service fee. That sounds (in my case) s bit ridiculous. The truck was supposed to be returned 5/12 at 11 a.m I returned it cleaned out on 5/11 at approx. 7:30 p.m. when I rented the truck I was not informed that I could have gone online to U Haul .com and check the truck in myself or return it the next day at the time it was due. Because they checked it in on 5/12 at opening time they charged an after hours service charge. I would encourage any one to inquire about the check on if you are not sure they explained. I am sure it was just an accident in this case and it seems to be a new policy.y charges should be waived. But either way I have rented from this store nervous times in the past and I get the best service than any other place. The customer service here is very polite and understanding. I highly recommend this store if you are planning a move,local,long distance,one way or round trip. There may be less expensive rentals but you won't get as good of service or anyone going out of there way to help make your moving experience better. I called them before I posted this comment and was informed they would waive the after service charges because of them not informing me of new policy.
