I made an appointment to install a hitch more than a week in advance and dropped off the car. A few hours later they called to inform me that it wasn't in stock. I had to go back a pick it up, and did not hear back from them until I called the corporate 800 number. No apology was ever said by anyone, including the 800 number rep.Bennett J.

Check in process was long because of 3 other individuals waiting who seemed to have complicated issues (gift cards, etc.) But another employee from the back noticed the delay and came over to help us, and after that we got out before the other 3 were even finished with their issue. Not sure what the bottleneck was, but I appreciate the other employee recognizing it and helping us get on our way during a busy moving day!ANNA H.
The car hauler I was rented looks and towed like it was put into service in 1990. I was suprised nothign fell off of it. The fenders on it looked like they had been smasjed several times and beater back inot shape with a hammer. It is not the qualty I have come to expect from Uhaul.JOSHUA W.

The truck was filthy and there were many, many ants crawling around inside. On the dash, seats, door, floor, cup holders. It was awful. If I had not been so pressed for time, I would have take the truck back right away. I had to spray Raid inside over everything. Didn't kill all the ants. I drove from Bham to Atlanta with ants. Some of them crawled on me (my neck and arm) while I was driving. Never again.Liana H.

The Store was supposed to open at 9. No one showed until 9:45. I had movers scheduled, so now we are out double the money for movers because of how long it took for the person who showed at 9:45 to help us. Both employees who came took personal phone calls on their cell phones while assisting customers who had been waiting an hour for the store to open up. My first month of storage was supposed to be free per the promo and the employee charged me and then informed me there was nothing she could ro and I would have to come back next month if I got billed then. When we came back in after unloading to return the truck, an employee was sitting behind the desk on a stool sleeping. My husband got a picture of this. UHaul Customer Service resolved a critical issue by securing a truck from this location, at the last minute. They were awesome and we were on our way in no time, after the original location told us there were no trucks available at the day and time of pickup, after we got there. Thank heavens for this Vestavia location. The service was professional and quick. The truck was clean and ready to use. Way to go!JAMES S.

They didn't have the trailer that I reserved. I had to take a smaller trailer. That is a big deal, but it is not really their fault. It is the fault of the person doing the scheduling. Don't send me to some place that doesn't have the equipment that I need.STEPHEN O.

The back of the van was disgusting because there were food leftovers underneath the black mat. The smell was horrendous and caused our cargo to retain the smell even after we removed it from the vehicle. We let the workers know that the van needed to be cleaned underneath the mat and they apologized for the low quality product and said they would attend to it. The customer service was excellent, but the product needs to receive a better quality check in between each customer.Kip F.

The truck cab was not clean. Old French fries on the floorboard around the seats. The interior of the box bed area had also not been cleaned. (I gave a post office box key to the uhaul attendant when I returned the truck). However, the vehicle ran well. It had less than 10 000 mikes showing on the speedometer. Good equipment, but had obviously not been cleaned from previous rental.JAMES F.

The cargo van was dirty on the outside and dented on the passengers rear panel. I picked up some cheese iwrapped in cellophane put them in the back of the truck and there was dirt on the outside of the cellophane packages when I pick them up. So the floor in the back was dirty as well.Charles P.

Apparently the person in charge of setting out the keys for the contactless pickup did not do this the previous night. I went to pickup the truck at 8 and was not able to get the keys. I waited around for the store to open at 9, but the only employee did not ARRIVE until 9:15. There was a long line, and at 9:40 I was able to get my truck after waiting 1,5+ hours. When I went to return the truck, the key drop box was busted open, so I went back inside to drop off the key. None of the "contactless pickup/dropoff" was contactless at all. I can understand if something came up and the contactless pickup system were down or someone couldn't make it in to do their part, but some notice would be nice. Just an email to say "your pickup is no longer contactless, please arrive at the store at 9:30 and we will give you your key" instead of letting me furiously dig through the app with no notice trying to figure out how to pickup the truck. Every step of the way this process was bad. 0/10 would not recommend.THOMAS R.

This was absolutely awful. I had a reservation for 9:00. I arrived at 8:30 so that I could process timely as I was under a tight time window. I tried to complete everything through the app, but the app wouldn't load pictures. I contacted service through the chat feature and she began working on it. At 9:00, there was still no employee present, which I explained to the rep. She finished processing it, but it requires me to show the screen inside to get the key. Again, I explained that there was no employee. By that time, there were about 15 people waiting for an employee to arrive. Many were on hold waiting to speak with UHaul by phone. The rep kept saying that the location should be opened. She finally gave me a phone number to call. That number was disconnected. She then gave me an 800 number to call. I waited on hold for a bit, then explained to that rep that it was now 9:45 and there were no employees there. She stayed that they should be and that she was traffic control and contacting the district manager. At 9;50, we saw a car pull in and I told her that might be the employee. I watched as he entered and took his sweet time opening up. He finally opened the door and I received my key at 10:05. He didn't apologize and in fact said nothing. The rest of the people were furious. The hour delay caused significant problems. When I returned the vehicle, I spoke with whom I believe to be the manager and explained the situation and told her I wanted them to honor the "Reservation Guarantee". She turned and asked the employee what time he got there and he said 9:00. She asked again and he said "Nine something, maybe 9:15". I confronted him and told him I had proof on my phone that I was on the phone with U-Haul when he arrived at 9:50. He got silent an walked away. The "manager" said she didn't have the power to do anything with the guarantee but would make a note in the file. I would like to speak to someone further about this!Christopher F.

Terrible experience. I booked my truck a month in advance, morning of my booking I was told my truck was at a location at the other side of town. This put me much over budgets for the extra mileage and gas due to the incompetence of the uhaul staff to provide a simple service of provide a truck at the correct location with a month of notice. The change charged me 50 $more than I would have spend if it was done correctly. The on-site uhaul staff was unable to provide any reasoning or any solution to the problem. Again, terrible.ADAM K.

I realize it's a busy time, but there was very little communication about what to do or where to go. I was also not given any paperwork showing I returned the trailer. Had to buy air freshener, van smelled mildew, the pictures should be up to date, when reviewing the online check in pics, none of them looked like current condition, appears they were the pictures when can was brand spanking new. Advertised rental van showed modern ford transit van, these are old ass Chevy vans, not fuel efficient at all, will find a place with same as advertised for next rental.Doyle C.

The uhaul representative was very professional and helpful. The vehicle I rented ran well, and was clean in the truck hauling area. The interior of the Ford truck was dirty. My wife road in the passenger seat holding her purse in her lap, because she did not want to sit her purse on the floor. Service was good, Truck ran well and provided the hauling area we needed. When you add on the uncleanliness of the truck cab, I would rate our uhaul experience an 8 out of a possible 10. Thank you for allowing me to give an explanation. I would definitely use the Vestavia uhaul services again.JAMES F.

Upon arrival I noticed signs that said 2/7 return at this location. I assumed that meant the store was open 24 hours a day. My scheduled return was obviously for after hours however the return process was not discussed by the store worker. It would have been nice if they had asked if I needed instructions on how to return the equipment after the store closes. Ultimately figured it out by reading the fine print in the contract but it took me an additional 30 minutes of time that could have been spared had I've been informed at the time I picked up the equipment. Otherwise it was a very good experience. I love the ability to return after hours. I just wish I had known the process before.Kelly D.

Better customer service and employees who don't cuss in front of kids. Contacted this location this morning because I left a microwave and dog carrier in the truck the day before. Was told that both items were there and when I arrived at the location to pick up my items. The girl who helped me at first was not polite and did not seem like she wanted to be there. And then all of a sudden all the employees said that they didn't talk to anyone this morning, so now they don't have the microwave that was left on the the pet carrier.LORI S.
This was our third attempt to pick up a truck. Our previous 2 reservations were cancelled because they overbooked and did not have a truck for us. When we arrived to pick up the truck, the line was out the door. We waited an hour and a half to get to the counter to begin the process. 2 hours later we finally had keys and a truck. The next day we got a call asking us to send pictures of what truck we had and what keys we had. They had given us the correct keys but the wrong truck.
