I don't believe the customer service could be any better. I bought boxes 3 times and rented a cargo van. The two different male associates who helped me exceeded all expectations. The first visit, the associate helped me fit the boxes into my carJDANNY C.

Customer service was non-existent. First of all my location was changed from a location within walking distance to me to a location 30 minutes away so I had to find a ride to the new location. I booked the one within walking distance of me for a reason. For it to be changed to half an hour away was completely ridiculous. Once I secured a ride to the new location and arrived, there was No greeting upon entry. The first employee I walked up to said they couldn't help me. The employee that ended up assisting me was quiet, nearly impossible to understand (had to have him repeat what little he did say) and did not explain any of the process to me. I asked if I could change my rental to a one way from a round trip and he said yes and began that process, then asked his coworker if they had any one way trucks, to which they said no. Seems to me that should have been the first step, rather than telling me yes then having to back track. He asked me how many miles I would be going and then charged that to my credit card, not explaining that it would be trued up after the rental was over. He handed me the paper with the gas level on it but did not explain that I would need to return the truck with at least that level in the tank. These are all things I was somewhat aware of given I have rented a truck before but imagine if I had been a brand new customer with no truck rental experience. This was a terrible experience overall and I would never recommend this location to anyone. I have had much better experiences at another location.MEAGAN W.

For starters, I rented a 26' truck from the Vestavia Hills, AL location, the address is 1024 Montgomery Highway, Vestavia Hills,AL 35216. This is the worst customer service that I have ever hadâ€¦. The attendant who helped me was on FaceTime with a friend of his not even paying attention to me or my family. I asked him questions and got no response. Then the other employee went outside for a smoke break when he was supposed to go retrieve my vehicle, therefor they made me walk up the hill to go find my own vehicle. Once I found my truck, I got in and left the U-haul facility. I got two miles down the road and the truck broke down. Myself, my wife and my parents called the facility and the employees refused to do anything for me, they wouldn't even bring me another vehicle so I could get started on my move. The employees told me that they had no other vehicles to give me for the evening, until I reached the help centerâ€¦â€¦ After the customer service agent reached out to the location on the phone, they magically had a truck to give me. Not to mention they messed up my reservation and didn't give me the truck for long enough and they refused to fix it on their end. All in all this is the worst customer service experience that I have ever had. I do not say this lightly, but every employee that worked on Friday January 14th needs to be fired. Made reservation for a trailer and appliance dolly 2 days before I needed it. Trailer was there but no appliance dolly. Had to go to another location to get dolly. Also seemed pointless to make reservation as I was asked all the questions I had already answered on reservation.JONATHAN S.

Was given a muddy truck (inside). Truck was provided with less than half a tank, returned truck with same gas amount as was provided and was charged $70 for fuel. Establishment closes at 7pm, called at 6:00 to verify someone would be present (being that i was advised no after hour drop off) and no one answered phone, arrived and employees were seen ignoring phone as it rang. Had to drive to different location because this one â€œsuddenlyâ€ didn't have the equipment that i needed (appliance dolly).JEROMESE S.

Cannot thing of a thing to improve the experience, as everything was great. I especially appreciated the Uhaul associate who came out to the vehicle to check it back in, as we had snow, bitter cold, and strong winds that morning. The worker who helped me at the desk was nice enough, but she was talking on the phone with a friend the entire time, from when I walked in the door to when she handed over the truck to me. It made me feel awkward whenever I had to ask a question. The truck had a candy wrapper in it. Also part of the dash paneling under the steering wheel fell off when I had to pull the emergency brake. Return drop off location was blocked by a van. The trailer drop off location was way in the back and was blocked access by another individual. Need better organization of storage and probably needs a good clean up.SCOTT K.
Got to the location at 8:55am Sunday morning. The location didn't not open until 9am. Before the doors opened there were 18 people in line for rentals. UHaul only had one employee at the location at opening. This employee did what he could to help everyone in a timely manner but he needed help. Nice guy but he can only do so much.TIMOTHY B.

The first truck I got had a bed in it and looked to have some type of blood on it. Then the second truck I got had roaches in it. I spent the whole day cleaning it. Since I had no choice but to use it because I was on a tight schedule.JOEL S.

My only complaint was that my reservation was cancelled by Uhaul corporate bc I did not come to pick it up at 1:00 when my reservation time began. 1:00 was my reserved time bc my options were 1:00 or 3:00 (and 3:00 was too late it 1:00 was too only, so I reserved for 1:00 but showed up at 2:00). With no phone call or text, my reservation was cancelled. When I arrived at 2:00 fortunately the specific trailer I reserved was still available and the gentlemen (Clarence- very helpful!) there were able to re-reserve for me. Have no idea why this is Uhaul's policy with no communication to the customer.NICOLE H.

Got a problem. When dropped off equipment, was asked by an employee to back it in to a specific spot. The employee was to guide me back and front and it was very tight cause another trailer was blocking in front of me also. I have F150 crew cab and he should have known impossible and my painted front bumper got scraped by the trailer in front of me. He did not do his job. Should have known could in noway make it. This was not my original reservation pick up location. Unfortunately the truck did not lock properly, and I did not receive the dolly that was supposed to come with my order.TAYLOR B.
When I asked if the appliance dolly was in the truck, I was told by the person processing my paperwork said that they did not have any more to rent out as he kept looking at his personal phone and not even looking at me. After complaining that the appliance dolly was an important part of my reservation, another person agreed to check the storage room and he came back with one. When I checked in, the young man was on his phone with his AirPods in his ears trying to get me checked in while on his phone doing something else. He was talking to someone else and I had to say constantly are you talking to me and he would say no. It was difficult to hear him as there was a huge clear plexiglas wall between us. Not attentive at all to getting me checked in. When we went out to get my trailer he hooked it up and I asked if all was ok and he I was good to go. When I got back home I got a txt message to confirm my rental. When I looked at the pictures of the trailer it was not the same one I was given. Not even the right license plate and it was an expired tag. I called and spoke to the 1-800 rep and they tried to help but had to call the store back because of the expired tag. The store rep said I needed to bring the trailer back and they would exchange it. I then drove back to the store and when I got there the man at the counter had a shirt that said General Manager proceeded to help me. I told him what happened and he said oh yeah I know about that and then proceeded to do the exchange. I then said the trailer license plate was expired and the young man who checked me in was sitting there and I looked at him and said that he said it was ok and I was good to go and he acknowledged that he did. The other man then went out with me and changed the trailer to another one. I just can't believe that they even checked that trailer because if they did I would have expected them to know that the tag had expired. If I had been pulled over by a policeman I'm sure it would've been a mess trying to deal with this. Not only that but your online system for me to confirm that this was the trailer I just rented was totally wrong as well showing pics of a different trailer than what I just rented. Also I was extra disappointed with the way my situation was handled by such an unprofessional attitude. Not one time did anyone on the phone or at the store apologized for the error with the trailer and the fact that I had driven off with it and had to come back to exchange it. It was as if they didn't care about it which I'm pretty sure they didn't based on how my issue was handled so nonchalantly like it wasn't a big deal. They didn't have to waste 2 hrs of my their time trying to get the right trailer and having to drive to the store a second time to fix the problem they had done. Based on this experience I will never rent from that location again.WADE L.

Hire better, more punctual reps. I had chosen the Old Hwy 280 location for a reason. Received a call telling me my pickup location was changed to the Vestavia one. Says they open at 9 am and the first person wasn't on-site until 9:36!! Also, I set it up 2-3 weeks prior, so you had PLENTY of time to have the equipment at the site I chose. If you don't want people choosing certain pick up locations then don't give the options. It's that simple. A 3 year old would know that much. I guess what I should do is start using a different company altogether. This is the very reason I NEVER choose this location. And it's not a â€œCOVIDâ€ issue for not being able to hire someone that takes pride in what they do. This location has always been this way for as long as I can remember. Lazy, unpredictable, unprofessional workers. Wouldn't recommend this location to anyone to pick up a receipt much less actual moving equipment. Oh and the truck I was picking up wasn't even â€œchecked-inâ€ from the previous person dropping it off. Ridiculous!ANDREW L.
Was initially told that a dolly is not available. I mentioned this will cause a lot of hassle for me. The team member then found a dolly. I wish they had looked harder in the first place. When a booking is made, there are several plans in place - last min changes like unavailability of dolly can cause problems.Ojas G.

When I called to make the reservation, the girl was not friendly and very pushy. She encourage me to get the truck booked so it would still be available and assured me I could make any changes or add any items online after booking. She misspelled my last name after I spelled it for her and the I could not access my online account to make changes because the names didn't match. I booked an appointment weeks in advance. When I got there, I was told that the installer did not show up and I would have to come back another day. I wasted two hours that could have been avoided by a simple text or phone call. today the service was marginal. Front desks folks spent as much time looking at their phones than they did helping customers. It is not a customer friendly atmosphere. This facility needs better management.Stanley G.

Personally, I hate this location! It's too far away and you have to make a U turn. There are closet locations, but despite being told I can drop it anywhere, it tells me I have to drop here!!! After lots of rentals, I doubt I'll pick U Haul again for Birmingham at least !SHERRY B.

The Store was supposed to open at 9. No one showed until 9:45. I had movers scheduled, so now we are out double the money for movers because of how long it took for the person who showed at 9:45 to help us. Both employees who came took personal phone calls on their cell phones while assisting customers who had been waiting an hour for the store to open up. My first month of storage was supposed to be free per the promo and the employee charged me and then informed me there was nothing she could ro and I would have to come back next month if I got billed then. When we came back in after unloading to return the truck, an employee was sitting behind the desk on a stool sleeping. My husband got a picture of this.
