First unit I was assigned was already rented. The associate said they would call me with a new storage unit number. Upon showing up Sunday night, we realized the second unit assigned didn't have a lock, like was promised by the worker. After moving for 13 hours that hot day, we had to find a lock at 10pm on a Sunday night. Fleet Farm and Hyvee were closed. The gas stations didn't have one. Had to go 35 minutes round-trip to a Walmart to find one. I would highly recommend these storages. They have everything you need to load and unload your belongings. They even have a spot where if there's something you don't want you can leave it there for someone who can use it they can take it. (No mattresses which is totally understandable). Both if my issues are with the staff. For some background: The website tells you to go inside to collect your keys from an employee. Also, my reservation was for a 5pm pickup. When I arrived, the app told me to wait for an employee to review my documents so I went inside and they told me it wasn't them, it was customer service. Fine, I went to my car. Around 5:30 the app told me to go inside so I did and the guys were all really rude. They told me that I need to â€œbe patient because they JUST got done checking in the truckâ€ and that the keys are â€œobviously gonna be in itâ€. Maybe the employees need to go through the online renting process so they can understand what the customer is seeing and be more empathetic. Also, if I say 5pm the truck shouldn't be just getting checked in at 5:30.Samantha B.

Wow, the best renting experience I have ever had with U-Haul. Jameson Kirkman was especially attentive to making sure I got the trailer I needed, took time to go over the contract terms, and gave me some practical towing and safety tips. Jameson also hooked up the trailer to my pickup and made sure the trailer lights worked as they should. The trailer puller perfectly over my 400-mile trip.James C.

I visited 1100 Hickman Rd, Waukee, IA 50263 location on 05/29/2022 and a young lady was working there that day. I had a great experience picking and dropping off my rental truck. The agent was very friendly, professional, understanding, and have a positive attitude. She was smiling all the time, helping all the customers very fast, and had an answer to any question. I was surprised when she told me she had less than a year of experience! As a business owner, I would offer her a manager position right away because she got what it takes. Staff member, I believe his name was "Jameson" was very professional, knowledgeable about the trailer handling process, and set up the trailer in an expedited manner. When returning the trailer, we met outside during what appeared to be his break time, he set down his beverages and unhitched my trailer so I could continue on with what was an extremely busy day. He was very hard working and showed great character in the work place. I didn't catch the female's name that was working with him but they both ensured my needs were met during the trailer rental process. Would definitely rent from here again.Scott T.
Monique Kirkman was the employee that helped me and she was absolutely AMAZING. She answered all my questions completely and did not get upset or irritated. Made the whole process so easy. Her husband was the one that I did my return/drop off the next day. He was incredibly friendly, very personable and made things quick and easy. The fuel level was barely above 1/2 tank when I got the vehicle but the checkout person marked it as 5/8 of a tank. When I brought it back at exactly the same level it was before, just barely above 1/2 tank, the person checking it in said that's not at 5/8 tank. I explained it was at exactly the level it was at when I got the truck, and then she charged me an extra $22 for gas.John F.
The person who checked me in and connected the trailor was beyond awesome. Over the top customer service. If this is his normal then you have an outstanding employee who you should keep an eye on and lern from. Very pleased. When I arrived to pick up my rental, there were three check out people, but only one register that worked, so all patrons had to wait while one person could help people. The other two poked at the computer with no idea how to get it in line. Then as I was getting hooked up for a trailer, it was determined that the ball on my hitch was not 2â€ and that wouldn't work for their older style trailers. No where was there a notification of what size ball I needed otherwise I would have come prepared. Instead I had to purchase a replacement ball, but then the U-haul rep could remove my ball so I next had to purchase o new receiver and ball so I could leave with the trailer. The rental equipment worked well. Upon returning to drop off the trailer, only one person (the same one checking people out earlier) was checking returned gear in. The line of returns stretched back with no one telling people what was going on. I went into the facility to find the other U-haul people still sitting around. They told me to just unhitch and go. I felt sorry for the one person running the location. He was trying to cover everything. This appears to be a busy location. Provide accurate information to renters so they can come prepared and not have to scramble so they can accomplish what they came to your store to do. Second, tell staff if they can't do the primary job, move to a secondary or third task, it all adds up to getting things done for the customers.Paul M.

The two people working the counters had no clue as to how to help. Another employee came in to show them how to complete the sale. As he showed them step by step the two paid no attention, looked at their phones and discussed lunch. When the employee turned to them at the end of his demonstration and asked if they got it. They looked up from phones and said yes. Service poor each time from specific people. Lost customers who I brought in.Janet H.
The cell phone check in app is absolutely useless and makes more work for customers and not less. Location was fine and the employees were helpful despite having to deal with the buggy website and app. The app made me check in at the barcode. Then walk the entire lot to find my truck. Then go back to the office to get the key. Then walk again to the end of the lot to pick up the truck. This saved none of your workers time and only served to waste mine. Please rework the phone check in system to make it less terrible.Andrew V.

The facility is nice and clean, but I was not informed how to enter the building after getting the map from the service desk employee, after going to the units, I tried opening the door and the alarm went off for a good minute or two, tried using speaker phone in storage area, called back to back several times, no one picked up. I have a twisted ankle, and had to go all the way to the front desk to find out what to do. This should have been explained to me before I left the service desk. My biggest complaint is I purchased a 10x10x10 storage unit on line, when I went to the facility, I was given two small units side by side. I think this is very wrong to be misled on my purchase. What could I do once I had everything with me to move. Very unhappy with this turnout. So I'm paying for a unit that is not what I asked for. The employee told me there were no other units available. Other customers obviously decided they needed to get rid of lots of stuff, but it was not properly removed from there. I have had difficulty with uhaul for the past week I reserved a ground level unit and the confirmation email said I was on the second floor. I called to upgrade to the available ground floor 10x15 to find out that was not set. I called in to make sure I was a ground floor 10x10x10 when I got there for my reservation it was assigned a 10x10x7 and only one working employee without access or knowledge of the storage units there was no compensation for all of the inconvenience I was put through especially since I was paying movers to help by the hour they were on the clock for half an hour before we even got to start unloading I was also given a unit that had a lockout tag saying the previous tenet no longer had access to due to failure of paymentDevin D. | Premières impressions

The worst experience at uhaul I have ever had. They left a newbie up front who didn't know anything, and laughed when I told him my movers were there waiting and getting paid by the hour. The newbie told us the GM must not be onsite, so we couldn't get anyone to help us. I want y'all to refund my movers, train your new hires, and figure out a system for not keeping dozens of customers waiting with no solutions. I worked with Austin at the local facility. He was fabulous with really great customer service skills. He helped me switch from a smaller unit to larger one. Found a perfect fit for what I needed. Didn't know we had to use a certain keypad to sign-in so we kept getting access denied. Was put on a second floor without the elevator working. When we opened our storage it triggered the alarm. Here is a copy of the email I sent while waiting to get my storage unit issue handled. The store in Waukee IA is 0 for 2. First I was charged an extra day on my truck rental. I requested a refund but have not received it yet. Then I rented a storage unit and when I went to use it, the unit had a customer lock and a delinquency lock on it. I waited for more than 30 minutes before I was able to get help. It was after hours but that is not my fault. The guy that was helping sighed the entire time. Again, not my fault. Facility is a mess and manager doesn't care to fix the problems. Manager won't respond to urgent faults at the facility such as unable to access unit on move in day. Alarm kept blaring every 15 minutes on move out day which was obnoxious for a 2 hour move out. Inconsistencies with billing leading to late fees when autopay was never set up correctly. I can't say enough just how grateful I am for the employee who checked us in to our storage unit. We had a rough start to our move- the truck rental location in Cedar Rapids didn't have the truck we reserved, so we had to drive to Iowa City for a truck, and then back to Cedar Rapids to load and move, giving us a late start. After we loaded and were on the road, we hit gridlocked traffic due to a wreck. Altogether, we ended up at the storage location twenty minutes after close. An employee was headed toward his car, but saw us walk up to the door and asked if he could help, even though I'm sure he was off and ready to go home already. We told him what happened and he went out of his way to check us into the storage unit we reserved and get us set up. He was amazingly kind and courtesy. I have been to this uHaul location a couple of times to rent moving trucks. This is the first time I've gone there to rent a storage unit. The staff were really helpful. It took a while to get my unit, but the first person who helped me credited me with one month free for the inconvenience, which I really appreciated. My key card didn't work when I tried it, but someone else helped me change the key card to one that did, and he tested it out before he gave it to me, which was great. Then, when I returned to put things in my unit today, the same person who helped me with my card saw that I was having trouble getting into the loading garage, and he ran over immediately to open the garage door for me. I'm sure it was my own error and I'm grateful for his courtesy going above and beyond to assist me! The storage unit it self was good, but the workers were not helpful, all we heard was, I can't do that, meaning, management has to do that, Justen if even you would of helped, but you wasn't there half the time, we moved out on the May 28th NOT June 1st, so wrong again, we want our money back, you said you weren't charging us the couple days, after May 19th you wrote that on your business card, and we have it, we had to call our bank and contact the fraud Department and your worker told them what was going on, very poor place and workers, VERY POOR, I hope someone else from corporate calls me, but I am sure it's just going to you and will be seen by anyone else. I am not sure why you treated us so poorly, but I feel sorry for the next person. All we wanted was our money YOU promised us and would not close us out.
