You changed the pickup location without telling me until I got to the counter. Very unprofessional. Got an email telling me about it 2 hours after the scheduled pick up. Cost me another $20 Uber ride.

When I asked about it and said I couldn't use the larger truck I was told “to just cancel my reservation†and they didn't have the truck size I needed despite having several in the parking lot. I asked about the $50 right equipment, right location guarantee and was told “it wasn't their problem†and that I had to call the location I booked it from. The guy working there was very unprofessional and unfriendly.
Douglas D.I am deeply troubled by the experience as it was handled by your store general manager, Julian Loughery. This was a simple, routine rental of a cargo van for an in-town move. Part of the rental was helping my father who lives local to your store transport furniture to charity, as they are making room to house his 99 year old mother in law, and part of the rental was to transport small furniture to my house in the Pocono Mountains from my mother's house. I had requested a van to be rented at 1pm yesterday, 6/22/22 and had selected the option where I would check in using the app. As I was getting ready to leave to go to your store, I tried checking in on the app, and I was given an error saying that no equipment was available for the rental. I then tried calling your store (215-638-7575), and got no answer. I tried calling again and got no answer. Around 145pm I decided to just go to the store. I arrived around 2pm and after waiting for about 5 minutes, rented the van. It was explained to me that the van was not showing up on the app because a new associate failed to properly check it in. The van had garbage behind the passenger seat, which I disposed of, and a thermos, which I kept because I thought it might have been a staff member's, so I kept it in the van on return, but otherwise the van functioned as it should. The store's delay in checking in the equipment and failure to answer the phone when I called caused a delay in coordinating with my father and delayed the rest of the trip, and as a result, it was too late to come back to Bensalem last night, so I stayed overnight at my house. When I woke up this morning, there was a heavy rainstorm in the area, which caused some flooding, downed trees and branches, and as such, I believed it would be prudent to not drive a vehicle that I normally don't drive when there was a possibility of damaging it either by floodwaters or by the weather. Therefore, I was delayed coming back to the area by a few hours. When I returned the van, after filling it up with $65 of gas, no one was in the store. Your store manager eventually came inside and seemed out of breath and exacerbated. I explained I was dropping off the van and he abruptly took the key to inspect the van and check the mileage. When he came back, he said the charge would be $188.60, which seemed high, especially because I used less miles than I estimated, so I asked for a breakdown of charges. He printed the receipt, and I noticed that the rate for mileage changed significantly. He explained that this was because the van was returned a few hours late (even though that was partly the store's fault) and that gives U-haul the right to change the rate charged, and he claimed I agreed to these charges and signed that agreement. As an attorney, I read contacts carefully, and I do not see anything on the agreement that says the rate for mileage would change after 24 hours, nor is there anything in your advertising or signage that says that there is any additional charge after 24 hours, or additional daily charges after the first day. Nor was my signature even on the agreement page authorizing the charges. I would have been fine with a small prorated charge for the delay in returning the van (which was partially your store's fault), but the difference was over $60. I politely asked that I pay what we agreed to pay initially. This is when Julian began to become unhinged. He kept telling me that I didn't read the contract, which I did, and he kept telling me that these charges were in our agreement, which they are not. He then said that he told me these charges would apply verbally, which he didn't, as he wasn't the associate that checked me out, although he was present at the front desk when I got the van. He then said that because I was late returning the van that he had to give another customer a free upgrade, and that he should hit me with a $500 fine for not returning the vehicle exactly on time, which again, is not in your agreement. I couldn't help but notice there was another almost identical van parked outside, so I expect he was not telling the truth. He then began demanding that I pay the full amount, or he would personally see to it that I was banned from using U-Haul, Budget, Home Depot, and another company that I didn't know, permanently. I explained to him that threatening to take what would be a lifetime ban from numerous companies for disputing unauthorized and unagreed to charges is extortion, and I would have to contact legal for a resolution. He said "I hope you do". FInally, after saying "I hope I get fired for manipulating your contract", he threw the contract back at me and said "Good luck renting from U-Haul, Budget, Home Depot (and the other company I didn't remember)". My credit card is now showing 3 charges, one for the original charge, ($141,32) one for the overage, ($47,28) and then another charge for the new charges which reflect what I believe I should have been charged to begin with ($135,84), so my credit card is currently showing 3 charges, plus there is a hold still on the card in addition to this, which I trust will be released soon. I have not yet disputed the two additional charges as I'm hoping they will be refunded. I would at this point demand an apology about Julian's behavior, a full refund of all charges for this rental, assurance that I am not on any "lifetime ban", black list, or any other derogatory information in your company's database or for any affiliated companies, and an assurance that it is not U-Haul's policy to demand payment of inflated, undisclosed charges or threaten consumers, most whom are not lawyers and may not understand their rights, with lifetime bans from your services.
Michael L.Bad service I dropped a truck and I ask the guy to check the truck for me cause there's a issue for the gas when I picked up I don't want to get charge cause it is a one way from New York to Pennsylvania the guy yield on me so disrespectful don't know how to talk with customers he said fuck me and fuck my mother I've his picture and also video to him I'll make a complaint to the precinct tomorrow morning to make a fallow up with this guy. I'll not recommended that location to anybody.

I was told I was the problem that the 'truck' is not available for someone else that day (April 2). Such a rude way to deal with an existing/paying customer. I 'am' supposed to have returned it at the original time BUT I extended since things (moving) happen out of control. Manager even cut the call on me.. such rude behavior unworthy of being a manager.. I doubt this complaint will ever reach corporate..

Jennifer C.I reserved a U-haul for pick up at 7am on 03/06/2022. When I got to the U-haul location my key was not in the lock box. I called the Uhaul 800 and no one could help me. I was told I would have to come back at 9am when the store opened. I had to pay $ 250 for movers that had to sit around for 2 hours doing nothing. The insult was when I finally got and returned the truck I was told I wasn't going to have to pay the $ 19,95 truck rental fee. An absolute joke. This is the second time in a week I had issues with renting trucks. My other claim # 3616242 has not been resolved and I left three messages for Laneesha Harrison trying to speak to her but my calls have gone unanswered. DO NOT use U-Haul they do not care about your time or money and treat the customers terribly. These experiences have truly be awful in every way. Your just a number and they don't care about wasting your time and money. BEWARE do not use U-Haul!

You want people to verify the condition of the truck in a dimly lit parking lot. When we arrived instead of checking us in at the desk I was told I would be sent a text message to upload the drivers ID. The text never came and I navigated the site myself to get the picture done.
