Reservation process is awful. This is my second time where the trailer i reserved was not available at the pickup location on the day of the pick up. 1st time, i ended up picking up a different size trailer and this recent visit, i had to drive to Napa, instead of Concord (reserved location), to pick up the reserved trailer. And it cost more since i was returning the trailer at Concord location

Customer service was friendly and helpful, but your online reservation system needs some work. I booked a reservation online then showed up and just as I completed check out via phone, the truck I was supposed to look for was pulling out of the lot because it had been double booked. While I was in line, several other customers also made reservations and showed up to no vehicle available.

Truck was 1.5 quarts low of oil, coolant was 1/2 gallon low, right front tire was down to 28 psi when the rest was 38psi, and it had 1/4 tank of gas left. I personally correct all the problems before using the truck. Person that rented me the truck and the person that took the truck from me helped me with the truck by reducing the price by $50.. Would have been upset if I was a person not knowledgable about these thing and the truck broke down.

The only thing that was slightly negative was that I had reserved moving blankets with my reservation and didn't find out until I went to pick up the truck that none were available. Some advanced notice or stating that the rental items are not guaranteed would have been less of a surprise.

Service was slow but the attendant clearly saw the danger with the bald tire and asked his manager if something could be done to compensate me for the situation. But the manager did nothing. Not this location's fault for the poor state of the equipment, but would have been nice to get something for a bad experience.

My u-box experience was excellent in both Concord CA. And in Waukee IA. My experience in renting a 5x8 trailer in Mountain View, CA. Was a complete failure. I made a reservation two weeks before I needed it, two days before I was to pick it up I receive a phone call informing me that there was nothing available in Mountain View, and I would have to travel 50 miles south or 45 miles north to pick up a trailer. Arrangements were made to pick it up a day earlier in Oakland CA. Upon arrival they had no trailer and sent me to another location, upon arrival at that location they did not have the trailer hitch equipment to attach the trailer, had to go to an auto parts store to buy the parts, all this during rush hour traffic.

The reservation system is still a hot mess. For the last 5 or 6 years I reserve a 4x8 covered cargo trailer. Each year I reserve several months before the date of the rental. I always receive an email saying my reservation is complete and the trailer will be waiting for me. A week before I get a similar email. On the date that I've reserved the trailer I show up and the location I've rented from tells me I've been given a free "upgrade" to a larger trailer. This year the upgrade was to a 5x10, a trailer that is so large my truck, the one that I specified in the part of the online reservation that verifies that the vehicle is capable of pulling the trailer, would not be able to haul if I put anything in it. This is the sort of condition one runs into when there are no other vendors that provide a service, in this case trailer rental. Fortunately the staff at the location I used was very understanding and accommodating and got me a 5x8 which I am able to haul, albeit with some sacrifice in gas mileage.

So.. I reserved a trailer a week before pick up. I got a text from u Haul the AM before pick up that my trailer was ready - in Vallejo - 30 miles and a bridge away. I got on the phone , spent an hour with someone who reserved me a different (open) trailer at Concord. 10 minutes later I got text from UHaul that my newly reserved trailer was ready - in Vallejo! I ended up finally renting a trailer at Concord but what a nightmare. If you reserve a trailer then it needs to be available where you reserve it! Otherwise it's not a reservation. If you don't have the equipment you need at Concord, drive it down. Just awful service from Uhaul (Not sure i can blame the location as much as the company.

The vehicle I reserved 3 weeks in advance (10' box truck) was not avail. when I arrived, even though I did the online check-in process, and verified. I was offered a cargo van (which I accepted) instead. There were 6 people in front of me in line to be helped, with only 3 people behind the counter on a Sunday, which resulted in waiting almost 20 minutes before I was helped. Woefully understaffed, but the vehicle was clean, and new, with less than 7K miles on it. The staff was pleasant to deal with, and apologetic for the last minute change. Checking back in after use was easy, and painless. Overall, I was pleased, except for the last-minute change. Luckily, I was only moving small furniture across town, and not anything major, otherwise this review would have been a negative...

Using the U-Haul app cuts your visit by an hour because you’re giving majority of the ahead of time, speeding up paperwork. Service is excellent.

When we arrived for pickup we were forced to go inside instead of pick up outside. We waited in line for an extended time while the customer ahead of us held a long drawn out personal conversation with the employee. Another employee came to assist us after finishing up with another customer. He was helpful and quick to get us going. The van we rented had not been serviced, it was quite dirty with the front seat full of dog hair. It had not need throughly cleaned out not washed and the gas tank was half full. The store is clean and the air condition is marvelous. Something customers definitely need as you wait to be assisted. Could definitely need some changes.

The trailer electric connection for the lights was causing my SUV to blow fuses ,including the shift lock solenoid. This was a major inconvenience and resulted in delays . After I notified the representative upon return , he said that he would check out a “grounding connection issue”.

Do not trust Uhaul company. If something happens to your car because of Uhaul employees failing to inform you on what's best for a safe and damage free move, they will completely deny and avoid you until the claim expires or they close it. I went to Uhaul in Concord, CA a week prior to leaving to see if my car could qualify for anything to assist with my move. I told them I was driving from Pittsburg, CA to Norcross, GA and they said my car would be fine and that they had to order a hitch for my car because there was none on site that would accommodate my car. Then they attached the trailer to my 2015 Nissan Versa. My Father and I barely made it to Kingman, Arizona before my transmission blew out and the car completely shut off exiting the freeway do to the weight of the trailer. It took about 10-15 just to keep cutting it on and off to exit the freeway safely. We were stranded and constantly calling uhaul for help. When we finally got someone to help they made me tow my car separately on my insurance and only came to pick up the trailer. Then they made me pay another fee of $667.30 to get a 15footer with a flatbed attached for my car. When I had just paid $645.15 less than 24hours ago for the hitch and trailer they failed to acknowledge wasn't for my car at all. I filed a claim with Repwest Insurance and was told needed a diagnostic test to prove my transmission was damaged do to their trailer. Gave them all what they asked for and I still got the run around for 10 months and in that time I've gotten my car repossessed for $9286.39 (defiance fee), spent $1311.88 in lyft and $2047.24 in uber rides just to get back and forth to work. Plus having to pay a car note for $466.89 and insurance for $139.19 for 2 months of not being to drive my car before it was taken because it would cut off and make knocking noises if driven. I sent numerous emails and complaints from every which way and been calling non stop, but nothing. They keep denying and avoiding me and now since I don't have the car they are claiming that there is no proof at all that anything was wrong with the car. And now they have closed the case and refuse to respond back. The manager from Concord, CA (James) and the one in Kingman, Arizona were the only two who said Uhaul knows better than to put a hitch and trailer on anything and that James would have told me no and to find another way if he had of been at work that day. He was the only one who owned up to the negligence of Uhaul. NEVER EVER RENT ANYTHING FROM UHAUL. TAKE YOUR CHANCE AND MAKE A TRIP TWICE ACROSS THE COUNTRY OR USE ANOTHER COMPANY. DO NOT RISK YOUR LIFE AND EMOTIONAL, MENTAL AND FINANCIAL STABILITY!!

U-Haul customer service is horrible! The truck was great, but my god, try to get ahold of a person to walk you through the rental or return is impossible! You have to search heaven and earth for a phone number then wait an hour to get someone on the line! don’t even bother trying a live chat-no one is there-ever! Never have I ever had worse customer service. Ever. And I am not talking about the people in the shop-it is a corporate issue!!!

Everything was fine, except when I returned the equipment. I had a reservation and got the equipment I needed. I only used it for an hour and returned it, but my mileage was 3.3 miles over the estimate. The checkout guy said do you want to put it on the card? I thought he meant the mileage overage, and said, no, I'll pay cash. Then he wiped out the estimate transaction and sent me back inside to wait in line for 35 minutes to pay cash for the whole thing. It would have been nice if he'd told me I'd have to go back inside if I paid cash and then I would have avoided that by telling him to charge it to the card. When I told him that, he said he couldn't go back and I was stuck. OK, U-Haul, lesson learned, but it would be nice if customers were told the ramifications of not putting it on the card before erasing the transaction. I've rented stuff here for years and never had a problem until today. Not the most customer oriented relations employee, for sure.

It would be helpful if the gas was filled to four and not just a half a tank. I had to drive 70+ miles and had no gas when I got back to my destinations. It was very stressful not having gas in the tank and not feeling comfortable getting gas. It was my first time driving a U-Haul and I was very nervous about the experience. When I got back to the U-Haul location, the person working there kindly directed me to the nearest gas station so I could get gas and not have to pay gas to U-Haul. I was able to go get gas without a problem and feel grateful that the workers there cared about my best interest. Thank you!

I drove a Ford Vans, which was are great; get rid of your Chevy Van inventory. Post a large sign outside the store visible to the drivers in the return lane advising the drivers to stay with their returned vehicle. I got out of my return vehicles to go inside to turn it in and a u uhual Representative told to go back to my vehicle until someone arrived to check it back in. It is not intuitive that you have to stay with the vehicle in the return lane and as such you need signage to that effect.

The longer the better since it would be fewer trips for me. She looked on her computer and said there was nothing available. I left and called the 800 Uhaul and within a few min they said I can pick up a trailer at the same location I was at The only saving grace to this whole situation was the owner was really trying hard to do everything for all his employees

We reserved a 26’ truck three weeks in advance and confirmed three days prior as requested. Before leaving home to pick up truck we confirmed yet again. When we showed up 20 minutes later we were told there was no 26’ truck available at the location or anywhere nearby. We had to take a 20’ truck which did not meet our needs. We had to borrow a friends truck to get additional items to San Diego. We had to leave May items behind. The tank was only half full. We returned the truck with a full tank and requested a partial credit, considering that we had not even been given the requested truck. Request was flatly denied and in a rude fashion. This is the worse service We have ever encountered. We can’t imagine using or recommending u-haul ever again. Incredibly disappointing.

Your online reservation system is broke. It allowed me to edit the pick up location to postal annex at Walnut Creek but when I arrived at that location, I was told that I need to go to monument blvd location in concord. Please disable online booking option as it is misleading. I also came to know from the associate at monument that availability is not guaranteed through online booking. In this age of online world, this is disappointing.

Truck size/reservation not guaranteed per your website; $50 credit was not offered because employee said it wasn’t applicable. Instead he offered a $55 gas credit, marked the vehicle out as empty,(even though there was a quarter tank), and upon after hours return, proceeded to change credit to $22 and increased our final charge. Tried to call directly (direct number for office) and was picked by your hotline operators, who could not do anything for us and advised we contact location directly. Operator mentioned that they would message office to call us. That was yesterday 6/9/19. I am disabled in a wheelchair so traveling back and forth to your location office is not easy for me. Your website guarantees a size truck for us and didn’t meet it. Your site also says that $50 would be paid to us if not notified the day before. We were told at the desk the day of the truck wasn’t available and given a smaller truck which made our move even more difficult. Not recommending this office location to anyone I know

Stephen was very friendly and quick, guy has a great personality. I must say that the location in completely understaffed. U-Haul needs to hire 4 additional porters to increase efficiency. I've rented from this location multiple times and it seems as if the owner or U-Haul does not really care about there employees. Today it was 96 degrees and they were hustling. Maybe when someone has a heat stoke they will pay attention to comments like this one.

I was racially profiled at the Concord CA branch on monumentt Blvd. I have not gone to another location so I can't say it's in all uhaul locations. But it is the second time it happens in this location. I had a reservation and they kept telling me I was on a waiting list when other customers kept coming in an leaving with a truck. When I spoke with customer service they said they did have trucks and until customer service spoke with person at location I got a truck.bad customer service at location towards me but very good towards other customers that came in. Had me waiting for one hour til I finally got a truck.

My comments are not directed to U Haul of Concord, their service was fine. . I am very disappointed with UHaul.com and U Hauls' scheduling system. The trailer I reserved 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE was not at the location I was directed to originally. Had to call and was put on hold for several minutes before talking to someone. They could not find a trailer within 40 miles of my location. I was eventually directed to U Haul of Concord and settle on a smaller trailer which did not fit my needs. Why have and use an online scheduling system if when the customer gets to the location and the trailer is not there? I had such difficult time, spending several hours trying to locate a trailer and being put on hold. I will not depend on U Haul for my future trailer and rental needs.

I tried to get my hitch installed last minute before my trip. Called several locations in the bay area, and the one at Vallejo took my reservation. It turned out they were overbooked, too. Nonetheless, the lady at U-Haul Vallejo helped me and sent me to Concord, where they got the work done in an hour or so. Shout out to these folks who saved my day!

The gentleman who assisted me personally was very professional & hard working. I am not rating him personally but the other staff there were not professional. One person was swearing at the front desk. He then walked away from the desk & started walking around but didn’t acknowledge the growing line. No one apologized for the wait. One guy then yelled “NEXT IN LINE” very loudly and not in a professional manner. The person who checked my in was the only one there who was helpful & im thankful he helped me because if it were anyone else, I would have said something about their lack of professionalism. I hope you can acknowledge the young man who assisted me because he was a hard working and respectful person. There is a culture problem there and I hope management will get involved. I am a manager myself and can recognize a toxic culture when I see one. I am also a mother, and if my kids were there to witness their behavior, I would have been extremely upset to the point I would have said something to all the employees. Please praise the young man who helped me. I did not get his name but you could look him up under my records.

The steps one has to take to return the vehicle when the office is closed is extremely tedious and inconvenient to the customer. After a long day of moving heavy things in and out of trucks and into buildings, the last thing anyone wants to do is be bothered with having to take a bunch of redundant photos to fulfill a number of redundant requests (if you ask us to input the mileage then don't immediate request a photo of it as well, its redundant, do either or) just to get a receipt, which may or may not be provided, depending on whether the application didn't error out and in the submission process. The truck itself and the customer service was perfect, however.

Honestly the service was fantastic. The location sucks really bad though. There are always 4 Mexicans standing out front. You should start calling the police on them for loitering and trespassing. It's in a really sketchy part of Concord and it makes customers feel unsafe. I'd consider looking for a safer location that has more customer parking.

I live an hour and 15 minutes from this location which was the closest location with the trailer I needed. I think U-Haul should consider transferring equipment to locations closer to the renters site. I get this cost U-Haul some money, but I did pay $600 for my equipment and it seems U-Haul could have moved the equipment closer to me such as Napa which would be reasonable.

I got out quick for the rental, though I had to flag them down to put air in a tire on the truck. Then they "forgot" to check in my truck, even through I returned it at 1pm (and they don't close until 7pm). It took 3 calls and the entire day Monday to get the issue resolved. But at least it was resolved correctly.

The location and employees were fine. The reservation part was a nightmare. Moving day is stressful enough, then we show up and they say there is not a truck available that we booked. We were told we could drive 45 mins to another location to pick up another truck. Cost me a ton of time and money. This reservation system does not work!! You need to revisit how this is set up. Truly Amazing - All staff members were friendly and professional. They listened and understood what my requirements were. I was down the road in minutes, with rental truck, and then checked back in efficiently. They maintained a pleasant demeanor the entire time. *Note for the reader - the parking lot is intimidating, because of the minimal space for drivers to maneuver vehicles around. The staff maintained an awareness and responded to everyone's concerns in a way that diffused all frustration.

The problem was not with this drop off location. It was with the whole situation. I was told I could drop off my key and truck at the walnut creek postal annex...but the lady on the phone said we could not do that and had to go to the Concord location...but the gentleman told us we could drop it off here earlier...so which is it? This combined with the pickup was one of my worst experiences as a customer of anything ever. It made my move awful. Never using uhaul again.

I drove up to drop it off and the guy, I think his name was Vince, was not very happy to see me. He made rude comments directing me to drive the trailer in. He was very rude and I will not go back to this location in the future. The one person, ruined this location for me period. Also, the trailer leaked and got a bunch of boxes in the trailer water logged. I told the man at the drop off location just so maybe there could be some repairs/caulking done on the trailer so it didn't happen to the next person but the man just said well don't drive through the rain next time. Between the trailer leaking and the man at the drop off location, i'm not sure I want to rent through U-Haul anymore.

I have been renting U-Haul‘s from the concord location on an average of 2 to 3 times minimum per month due to the type of business I run. Upon returning one of the Uhaul‘s that I had rented I handed the keys directly to a representative - we both acknowledged each other - and he said thank you. I got in my car and I left. Two days later I got a call from the Concord location expressing to me that they were going to have to report the cargo van stolen and that I needed to return the vehicle ASAP. I was in complete shock. After speaking with representatives they were all very confused on what had transpired. The whole incident was a complete embarrassment and very humiliating. Of course they were eventually able to find the keys in the vehicle. But then they had the audacity to send me a bill. I would think in a situation like this they would have given me 100% refund for the inconvenience they caused me. This place is quite a circus.

I was quite dismayed by this whole experience. First, I reserved a truck for pick up in Alameda over a month ago. Found out the day before that I had to pick it up in Concord. Then, because my drivers license last name and my legal name are different (because I have an apt in July to change my name at the DMV), they said paying cash would be easier. I paid an extra 100.00 deposit in cash, and was told when picking up the truck that the deposit would be returned in cash. When I dropped it off, my refund was being put on to a card. I said I paid in cash, and was told I would be refunded in cash. Then it was waiting for someone who had the cash keys to get out of the bathroom.. I was even told by one person that they'd go "hurry him up". Luckily, a gal there (I didn't get her name) helped me out, and was able to finish the process and refund me in cash. Had she not stepped in, I felt like I would have been waiting far longer. The return process should not be nearly a half hour.. just fyi..
