I had a terrible experience. I rented a one way uhaul 15 footer 2 weeks ahead of time at the Long Beach location on PCH. They called me two days prior to my reservation and told me that my reservation was in Paramount and that I’d have to go pick it up. I reserved a truck down the street from my house because I was planning on taking it over 300 miles across California. Having to drive an extra hour or so to pick up the uhaul is extremely inconvenient. I was never told when making the reservation that I may have to go far to pick up the truck. So I compromised and got a size smaller truck which barely fit my stuff. Extremely rude customer service. These people acted non apologetic or understanding what so ever. Moving can be extremely stressful and dealing with people who don’t want to cater to your needs as a customer really shows the lack of care within the company to its customers and I will never use uhaul again after my experience.

I used Uhaul in order to move from Torrance, CA to Las Vegas, NV. I requested a 6x12 trailer to tow behind my friend’s Subaru Forester. Her vehicle already had a tow hitch installed but I needed to purchase the ball connector. I made the reservation on July 3rd for July 11th - the trailer, two dollys, furniture pads and I also purchased the ball connector and a mattress cover all to be picked up from the Torrance location. Fast forward to the 11th. I called in the morning to be sure my reservation was correct and good to go. The dispatch number I called told me that unfortunately the Torrance location did not have the trailer that I needed so I would need to go to the Carson location. Not a big deal although had I not called I would have driven out of my way for no reason. Annoying but it was only the first mistake in a series of positively egregious errors made by your company. I arrived at the Carson location around 11am, meeting my friend Emily to attach the trailer. As I walked to the counter, your service member Kristeena was staring at her cell phone. I stood for a moment and finally said “hi, I’m here to…” before your employee snapped “I’ll be with you in a minute” in an extremely disrespectful tone. I stood and waited for her to finish her cell phone business and she finally managed to acknowledge my presence. I gave my information and she looked it up. It took several minutes but she finally found me and ran through the charges. When I asked about the ball connector and mattress pad I had already purchased, Kristeena rudely told me there was nothing about that in my record. I explained that I had ordered it and obviously I needed it before we could even hook up the trailer. “Well I hate to burst your bubble but we don’t have that here. You have a receipt or something?” That’s what your employee supposedly trained in customer service blurted out. I did in fact have a receipt attached to the email that was sent to me confirming my purchases and reservation. I showed it to her on my phone which she then took out of my hand and walked with it to the back to discuss loudly and again rudely with other employees. She came back and told me it was too bad I ordered it, it was at the Torrance location and I could go pick it up if I wanted. That is ridiculous. I ordered parts from you at the same time I made the reservation. Obviously I need the parts in order to use the equipment I requested. Your company did not bother informing me until the day of that I would need to drive to a different location and Uhaul also has a record of my purchases. Why wouldn’t someone have the wherewithal to say “Well she obviously needs this, we should send it to the location we are sending her to”. Annoyed I decided that rather than drive across town to pick up my items we would just go to a Pepboys down the street and purchase the ball so we could get going. We were about to drive 6 hours from LA to Vegas at 55 mph and we wanted to miss

this applies to fiorst location I attempted to return truck. ABC Pool in Los Alamitas. I was really concerned about the mechanical condition of the truck (transmission noise) and pulled into this location to attempt to drop it off. They flat refused to accept the vehicle and made me call a number, who then sent me to a location 15 miles away. No one cared that I was afraid the truck would break down any second. I have been a U Haul customer for over 30 years...never again

Counter person was professional. It when chosing an available associate at the counter. The other made it seem as if I liked one more than the other. Childishness. I don't care who serves me. I ha e no interest in them. The person that provided van was rude and dismissive. My question was appropriate. I was going 10 miles. I wanted to know how many gallons would be needed to refill tank. As opposed to filling and staring at the meter. He dismissed my question and redirected me. It was ride. I did ask another associate that was kind. Provided an estimate and stated the other person was a but new. I do believe that training can correct the dysfunction at this location. Lastly, the hook that holds the van doors damaged my new furniture. And I paid for blankets that I used. Where is your liability. I now have a damaged piece of furniture from your vehicle.

I rented a 5X8 trailer from the listed location. After getting the trailer hooked up to my vehicle. I proceeded to my storage in Huntington Beach CA. Upon arrival, at my storage unit. I opened the trailer door and the inside of the trailer floorboard was wet and reeked of urine. Upon my return to the listed location. I advised the manager Alvin of the situation. Alvin was AWESOME! He rectified the situation above my expectation. Alvin deserves whatever written accommodation your company offers to employees that go above and beyond.

I would probably suggest that when a customer specifically asks if it is ok to park out on the street the counter people people might say something like “ not today, I t’s street sweeping” instead of “you’ll be fine. “ Truck felt unsafe the whole drive. The steering felt unstable.

While we recognize these are work trucks, cleaning off windshields before use should be mandatory. Was hard to see driving into sun. Wiper fluid was out. Check- in attendant was helpful and helped us as co-worker seemed inept and was checking her cell phone. Maybe she was a trainee.

OMG i rented a 26 footer 2 weeks ago! i called 48 hours prior to confirm!i got sent a text to pick up at 9AM-i got to Cherry Ave location at 9 and they were closed-and sign said open at 11 am-called uhaul and put on hold FOREVER!came back at 11 and still CLOSED-went to PCH location and it was packed and got a 20 footer(TOO SMALL!!) at 1230 pm which screwed up all my plans and cost me MONEY! and tons of aggravation!BOOOO uhaul!came back yesterday to complain to manager who was OFF on sunday=the biggest day of the month=JUNE-30=BOOOOO!! ;

The person at the counter was very nice however, the staff responsible for assisting with latching the open trailer to the van was not helpful at all. The first time I rented it, the person outside posted towards were the open trailer was and told me I had to do it. When I returned the trailer yesterday evening at 5:00 pm the person receiving it said you were closed and that if I wanted to return it today I was responsible for unlatching it to my van. Isn't this a liability issue for your company if something goes went wrong?

The issue I had was the right side mirror kept sliding down too low to see carefully. These trucks don't seem to be well maintained for safety. If I had to rent one for long distances I would have been miserable with the ride, safety and quality of these trucks.

Very bad customer service. Got there at 6:58 and employees would not help me. Was given wrong information for truck and then the code for the truck. Couldn't get the truck and move stuff, which is very frustrating because I had a friend take off work to help me move. Then I had a rude call from the GM this morning telling me I chose the wrong truck, which isn't true because I never had an option to choose a truck. Regardless what's the point of him telling me that? VERY negative experience overall.

I honestly don't even know where to start. I have never received such poor customer service in my entire life. I scheduled a delivery time at 8:30 on a Saturday. Received a text notification saying it was going to be delivered between 1 and 4 that Saturday. I was unavailable between that time, that's why I chose an earlier one, so I had to reschedule to the next day. Sunday morning comes. I called to double check on the delivery time to make sure it was coming that morning between 9 and 1. It was confirmed. I had a bad feeling, so I checked my email. Also confirmed in the subject line and delivery time, but in the notes it said being delivered that Wednesday. Not sure how that was even written down, so I called back. They guaranteed me that it was being delivered today and even gave me the drivers number. I was then told that they were going to send me a confirmation text summarizing what was just said. I get off the phone and receive a text saying that the delivery time was 1-4. I called back. Once again, was told this was a mistake and that no doubt it was being delivered today. I tried to be patient, and wait a little past 1, and it still wasn't there. I tried calling the driver, who didn’t answer and then I called back and was told MY STUFF WAS NEVER OUT FOR DELIVERY and that there were no drivers today. I'm not sure how that can even happen. I can't even begin to tell you my frustration. My whole morning was wasted, as well as those who came to help me. U-haul then tried to tell me that they were trying to find someone to bring it out to me ASAP, and once again, I was unavailable because I wouldn't be able to do it myself, and the people who came to help all had other plans that afternoon. I'm not sure how that many people at U-Haul can give me false information after confirming over and over and over again. Not to mention I called at least 5 times alone, my boyfriend had called 4 times also trying to get information. The whole process was draining, unprofessional, and honestly disappointing. I felt strung along and exhausted. You need to have better communication and clearly need to update your reservation system because there seems to be a HUGE problem. Not to mention when I called back after receiving the wrong text time, I was told that that computer does that sometimes and sends the wrong thing. THAT SHOULDN'T EVEN BE HAPPENING. You are a huge company. MANY people including myself depend on you for big moves. Unacceptable. I asked for someone's information that was high up and tried to contact them. No one ever responded to me. They delivered it the next day and the driver told my friends who had to move for me that it was going to be free. I never received a call or anything to check in about this situation.

Keep solicitors off your lot. I was approached by 4 men and there were many others around. Staff was great and very helpful. I did not check the inside of the trailer before I left Long Beach and once I got to Garden Grove I discovered people had been living in it and they left their belongings, cigarette butts, clothes, blankets, etc. It reeked like cigarette smoke. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! I had to clean, disinfect and let the trailer air out for a day before I could load my antique furniture and belongings in it. NO REFUND. NO TRAILER EXCHANGE. NADA!!! Unacceptable.

I had placed a reseveration on line for a location on 4th street in Long Beach when I arrived there was no truck waiting for me and the person behind the counter was no interesting in helping me other than to suggest that I go to the main location on 7th street. When I go there and spoke to the employees in the location they were super helpful. They assisted me with a truck as they could see my reservation for 4th street and were sympathetic to my needs. I would totally reccommend this location to anyone. The location is centrally located and the team there is efficient and friendly.

The service wasn't bad but I went to a couple uhauls and it seemed like everyone is very lackadaisical and not exactly intent on working. Seems to be across the entire industry in car rental stuff but would figure people would at least want their jobs. Anyone could be replaced with a robot. Ahain not bad service just... could save you money hiring better workers and less of them.

Few items of trash and a Tupperware with food in it was in the back of the truck. The truck's battery died after three hours of use. I drove the rental for around twenty-five minutes and closed the doors / turned off the vehicle during the remaining time. Customer support handled the battery headache well, which is the only reason my rating isn't significantly lower.

The drop off location was convenient. However, since it was a drop off location many people dropped off their u-haul rental anywhere (I believe it he vehicles were left during non-office hours) on the lot making it a bit challenging to leave the truck. There should be spots designated for returns.

This was a horrible experience. The first time I was in there they did not flip the ball on the hitch like I told him to and the trailer was scraping everything in town so I went back, they took an hour to find the tools and flip it and they did not check the lights. So I went back again and they said they fixed the lights so I left again and the trailer fell off and slammed into the back of my car and damaged it because they did not screw it back on after fixing the lights. The tow truck driver said that every single light on the side was busted and he had to rewire the electrical because two wires were touching and I was lucky it did not catch on fire. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! The last location that I used was great but this place was obviously a dump!!

One employee working the yard! Checked in @ 1:00 pm still had to wait for truck for over 15 minutes, just to get the keys. Waited on the lot for over 30 minutes just to verify mileage and fuel level. Need more workers to service customers faster. Nobody cares!

I would not recommend you to any one. You were extremely rude to a 70 year old veteran which I find absolutely appalling. You charged us $100.00 to go 39 miles. When we returned we had no choice but to fill up the truck when we came back. And this truck had under a half a tank when we left. Your a disgrace. See you in small claim's court.

Truck's transmission was showing signs of age, very unwilling to upshift. Clerks at Uhaul location were unfriendly, tired and uninterested in helping customers. The day laborers offering moving services were much more enthusiastic than the employees at this location.

Hello, I just received the invoice and there are serious discrepancies. I was charged $228.20 for a service I couldn’t use. The truck was inoperable after it was picked up. This, wasting my time waiting for a dispatcher to show up and eventually waiting on a tow truck to tow the U-Haul. I am very displeased with your service. I needed a U-Haul to transfer an ice cream refrigerator to a wedding event. As the even concluded, I required your U-Haul to transfer the refrigerator along with hundreds of dollars worth of product back to my shop. Being that your U-Haul broke down, I not only lost out on all of the product (being that it’s ice cream) but I also had to pay a storage fee of $150 so that I could keep the aforementioned supplies at the venue. Not to mention, I waited for dispatch and a tow truck past 2:45am. This whole ordeal was an absolute nightmare. You offer a service and you should stand behind that service. It was unprofessional to loan an inoperable vehicle. The dispatch gentleman stated that this isn’t the first time the vehicle has broke down.

Very interesting experience. Quality of trailer was excellent - always a good and cost effective product. Customer Service - terrible. Its starts when I go to pick up the trailer. The attendant is sitting on his phone and tells me "I'll be right with you" while he is finishing his text message. We finalize the transaction and I ask about price matching with Penske because we have a move coming up and there are signs all over the store that says "we price match". He says "we do price match, but you'll have to talk to the manager". Ok, I said, where is the manager. Response, he's not here. I bring the trailer back - no one comes up to me for about ten mins so I start to detach the trailer myself. An attendant comes up sucking on a lollipop and all he says is "hey, how was it" - letting me finish unhooking the U-Haul trailer (apparently unhooking a trailer and sucking on a lollipop are mutually exclusive). Regardless, once I get the trailer unhooked, dude pops his lollipop out to tell me the price is double from the estimate. I ask, "how can that be?" His response - I don't know man, I just work outside, you'll have to talk to someone inside. I go inside to be told - we don't know what he's talking about but you're good go for the original price quoted. Then I, again, ask about the price matching with Penske. I am told that they do it but I would have to call corporate..... Really? I write this to say, this location is great if you want to wait around, do all the work, and beg for their future business. We got a quote with Penske for about 30% cheaper than U-haul. We will be sticking with Penske for our future move, While I don't rent trailers or trucks often, next time, U-Haul will be on the bottom of list, unfortunately.

Great customer service. Easy pick up and drop off. Only one complaint- hard to park on site and hard to get off the property with my private car

Improve the over night drop off. I tried to drop of the rental over night but the lot was full all the way to the drive way so I could not return the rental. This was a problem because I have work the next morning and would not have time to return it when they open. This was a problem and they need to improve how to drop off the rental over night.

The waiting time is very, very very bad, and the employees do not care and they are not sensitive to how valuable your time is; inspite of having a express reservation still have to wait in line.

They over charged me for the gas .. it was incorrect and they also forgot to put the dolly furniture I had PAID FOR ($7) I also when I picked up the Truck they had long lines and weren’t sure if they had my equipment ready after I had ordered it a couple days before. Horrible service and over priced
