Excellent service from start to finish. I can't say enough good things about staff from initial walk in to the Malden store to our delivery driver - Theresa I think. She was awesome. Our box arrived and was delivered on time by another awesome driver. Contents intact! I highly recommend U Box and the services provided! Merci

I originally had reserved a trailer at UHaul on Broadway in Malden but when I arrived they told me they had my reservation but didn't have a trailer for me. Needless to say I wasn't very happy, but I drove to the Eastern ave location and picked one up. I was never offered any compensation for my inconvenience. Why take a reservation if you don't have a trailer available??

The whole online experience was terrible, I had to recheck-in for some reason while at the location once I was ready to pickup the truck, and it asked me for additional verification information like my passport when I'm outside and don't have access to anything other than my license which caused a lot of stress. It was a Sunday so no access to my “employer” as if that's easy enough. Moreover the truck I had assigned was missing, with the instructions for the truck ID was in bottom right of left hand side - not bottom left. As a first time user this made it the last time despite being a technical person. It wouldn't even let me upload a picture of my passport which I had online, but take a picture. I then had to repeat the process in person who luckily didn't need any mother than my license. I did try avoid using U-Haul due the added stress but was convinced otherwise with having a bigger capacity, but seeing how I was on the verge of being locked out and almost paid double the initial price, it's neither value for money not convenient.

First, the location to pick up U-Haul was changed last minute to a location further away. We understand things happen and weren't bothered too much by the inconvenience. But then we were charged double the price initially quoted. Since this delay caused lost moving time, we requested to drop off a few hours later without being charged a fee. However, the representative, Wendy, was not helpful and said we would be charged a fee for late drop off anyway. The frustrating part was that our initial drop off time was 5pm, after the Stafford springs CT location was already closed anyway but was still charged a fee because we dropped off around 930. Just shows how large companies only care about their bottom line over customers.

Renting was easy and satisfying but the drop off was a nightmare, after finishing it on line I came to drop off the keys and guess what , there was no keys drop off on the location, it took me 50 mn to wait to chat with someone and no answer was provided, I had to take the keys with me and drive 40 miles to bring them back next morning …when I explained to the attendant of the whole story that morning …his answer was I will give a couple bucks off….very nice ….

How do I explain the anxiety-ridden experience that I had with U-Haul. On May 24, I made an online reservation for a U-box for my daughter to be picked up at the Somerville, MA location for July 2nd. I also reserved a 10 ft truck so we could get her items and bring them back to the U-Haul site. The Monday before I was to arrive in Medford, MA to help my daughter pack from Knoxville, TN I called to see what the instructions were with U-Haul and the U-box. The employees at Somerville had no record of my reservation even with my reservation number, put me on hold, got the manager and he said that my reservation was in the Woburn location. I call them and nope, no reservation. I was panicking by then. The manager said he was going to transfer me to Transportation. The man I talked to in Transportation said he found me a U-box in Malden. I asked for his guarantee and he promised. I arrived in Medford, MA on Friday, July 1. I called the Malden location and asked about instructions. The manager did NOT have a box for me. He asked if he could call me back, he was going to check around. I couldn't handle it anymore, I drove to the U-Haul store. The manager was nice, found a U-Box for me. The morning of July 2nd, I went to Somerville to get the truck rental. I believe it was Tom - a older gentleman with Owner on his name tag - checked me in. I told him about my situation. He basically told me that's just the way it is that he thinks U-Haul should charge double because the boxes just weren't available. He said you reserve online and not talk to a person because it doesn't work. That's exactly what I did. He was nice enough, but oh my gosh, the most insanely frustrating conversation that I might have ever had. U-Haul is a major corporation. It was baffling how messed up everything was. Luckily, we packed up my daughter's belongings without any problem. The Knoxville, TN location called several times to schedule the drop off with a location of where we wanted it. The box was delivered on time which we appreciated. BUT, when the box was dropped off at my house, there was a lock on it. We didn't put it on there - we were NOT instructed to do so. The Knoxville location basically said that we needed to get a bolt cutter to cut the lock off. After a few calls, someone from the Knoxville location came and cut the lock off. We will never, ever use this service again. Moving is already stressful. There were times when I was shaking with anxiety. In the end, it all worked out, but I don't want to ever go through that hassle, anxiety, or incompetency again.

I made an online reservation for a 10 footer truck when I get to the location they were not 10 footer available for me . Since I needed the truck so I have no choice to take a 20 footer that I didn't want which is 40 $ . It's cost me $373 for the service. Poor service between U-Haul online and the location store because I shouldn't have to take a $40 truck while my plan was 19,95 . This is BS plain and simple

The sales associate delivered the truck to me in the parking lot, but did not provide any explanation about the truck's features. In particular, he did not show me how to adjust the exterior mirrors. I drove the truck with misaligned mirrors that made seeing the roadway, especially the right hand side, very difficult. I had one incident of a potentially dangerous right-hand lane change cutting off a car to my right. I tried to align the mirrors, but did not know that the entire mirror body pivoted--I was trying to move only the glass mirror portion. You folks have to insure that rental personnel do a walk-around, to include adjusting the mirrors with the driver sitting in the truck. I have rented a number of your 15 foot trucks in the past and don't remember issues with the mirrors. But this rental resulted in some scary moments while on the road.

The driver door gasket kept falling off getting in and getting out putting it back on and fell off again put it back on fell off again he's blue the only problem I saw was that drive me crazy all day but other than that the truck was clean service guy was nice and their rental guy no problem I think the price is pretty good I recommend it to anybody thank you customer James Grant

I put 30 miles on a pickup truck. I replaced the gas with 1,5 gallons and $7,5 total. The fuel gauge read 5/16 when I left and brought it back with 5/16th. You guys still annotated it at 4/16th, charged me $12.50, meaning that I spent $20 total to drive 30 fucking miles. And when I was leaving I asked if I was all set. He didn't say he was charging me. If he had I would have shown his dumb ass my gas receipt. Instead I just get charged. So yeah I can see why you guys have thousands of 1-star reviews

I felt really bad for the employee in Malden. He was all alone and apparently my reservation was messed up. We had to spend a bunch of time going back and forth about the drop off location and timing. We also had to switch equipment three times based on compatibility with the hitch. I actually had to lift the trailer with the employee to get it on my truck. He indicated that he would credit me $30, but I never saw it. The trailer was rusty and really beat up. It jumped all over the highway as we drove to and from the pickup. It took me 45 minutes longer than expected.

I did self check k in. When I dropped off a friendly worker who was out on break said he would take care of checking me out. I was glad for that. It happened so fast I thanked him and just said that I had the same amount of gas as when I left. When I got the bill I was charged for 40 miles. I know I didn't go that far as I made trips just to Melrose mass. I should've taken pTo to of odometer. I think. I just went 10 miles. My mistake I guess but disappointed.

I will continue to rent from U-Haul as I always do but I will check the hook up the attendants do. I went the entire day with the ball lock completely loosened. I will likely need to buy a new ball now because it damaged the ball. Lucky I didn't hit a bump because the trailer would have fallen completely off.

Our car wouldn't start after we had fully loaded it. It took roadside assistance 4,5 hours to come and help us. It was honestly a terrible experience.

The associate that was there towards the end was very rude. Trucks were coming in and parked in the middle of the exit path and while we were asking if the trucks could be moved so we could exit the proper way he had a very bad attitude.

My big problem is with the experience I had every time I tried to access my pod, it didn't matter if I called the main U-Haul line or the store directly, every time I showed up to access my pod having called the day prior they were surprised to see me, never had it ready, and often seemed irritated they had to deal with me. Plus, they only have a couple of fork lift certified employees, so you can't access it Sundays because no one fort lift certified works Sundays, but also recently I called the day before and when I showed up day of I waited a literal hour and a half for someone to get my pod out because the only fort lift certified guy was at lunch. Whatever their system is it isn't working, the only reason I moved things from my U-Haul pod to a different storage unit is because accessing it was such a nightmare every single time. The nice thing I would like to say is last year when we had the pod brought to our apartment the guy who did everything in Fort Collins was absolutely awesome, his communication was great, he was super helpful. Based on my experience in Fort Collins I'd consider using U-Haul pods again to move, but based on my storage experience in Malden I would never store one again ever.
