Your reservation system is confusing. My pick-up, AND drop off locations were changed from my original rental confirmation email sent to me. I received NO additional information about the changes, where I was to pick up my trailer, so I went to the incorrect location to pick up the trailer. Only caught it when I opened your Express app. Then the drop off location was also changed, caught that when I called to drop off the trailer, and the location had no information about me.

The truck smelled like vomit. They didn't even cleaned it up before picking it up and also I told the guy at the front desk that I was going to drop the truck before 5 PM and he puts 4 PM. I only go here because maybe they're trucks/vans are available most then other location probably because of bad service.

Had no moving blankets to rent. Had only one twin bed bag, needed two. This was not the location I picked to pick up. Received lesss than 24hrs notice. This location cost me two+ hours in morning bay area rush hour traffic and miles. Original location I choose was 5 min from address. Also I was original told when making reservation U haul would price match, then told no. Will use budget next time. I have another daughter to move will use Budget or Penske next time.

Equipment not available. Was told they could refund or I could check next day but they couldn’t guarantee. I was forced to drive 3 hours round trip Napa to Oakland, incur $16 in tolls and spend $20 in gas for a minimal credit. Would NOT recommend booking UHaul Napa.

These guys are ok. A bit sensitive. I don’t like moaning about trivial crap. They complain about small stuff. If you don’t like dealing with the public then quit your job and sell bananas on the street corner. Not everyone is exactly like the way you think. Tough guys who get upset over nothing. Kind of lame . The boss here seems like a nice guy but doesn’t really want to take sides. I understand, but a paying customer shouldn’t have to ask for someone to do their job. It’s not personal , do why make it so.

Make sure the equipment that is rented and confirmed is actually at the original location the customer requested at the the time of request. Original location was supposed to be at the Dublin CA location for 7am on 6/15/19. Had to go to Berkeley which wasn’t available then sent to Oakland to pick up auto transport from a no show customer. Wasted the whole day!

The service here was terrific--fast, friendly, capable, and very helpful this morning and this afternoon. The older 15-foot truck, however, left something to be desired: 1) a dashboard panel fell off before we even started work, 2) the driver's side door weatherstripping fell off the door opening twice during the day. (Neither problem was dangerous or life-threatening but dealing with them slowed us down in 100-degree-plus heat...)

I had placed a reservation at a different location week s in advance but when I arrived to pick up my vehicle, the location was closed and on the website it said it was closed that entire day. I was not notified and I had to spend half and hour and a $30 rideshare ride to get to the nearest open location. Although for my business i will be needing to rent a van many times this summer, I will not be booking with U-Haul again unless compensated.

Be upfront about charges. I asked for 3 days of rental. Was told that I could get a truck for $110/day with 750 free miles. At the office I was told I could add insurance for $10/day. So I did. Turns out that i could have had the truck for a week for $330. And was charged $120 for a collision damage waiver.

I would recommend sending the store manager or was what so he calls himself (Randy Rutherford) to a world class service training. Had the worst experience ever, starting with changing locations of my reservation on my way to pick up then called customer service number for east bay regional spoke to erica and other representative and discussed my concerns. They offered a 10 equivelance price match for the inconvenience. After arriving Randy changed the price of my reservation after calling back to erica she said he had changed the price. I asked him and he said NO he hadnt after hearing I had he had told her he wasnt honoring it. He told me that it was his store he made the prices if I wanted it if not go somewhere else. After turning around I saw him laughing with his employees. Uhaul really?? Check Yelp reviews same customer concerns. Replace this employee.

I know I rated this location "Poor," but I'm not sure it's entirely the location's fault. I think it's U-Haul as an organization's fault. Regardless, I had a TERRIBLE experience and I will NOT be trusting U-Haul again. This is the second time this has happened to me. I ordered a vehicle on the U-Haul website, called the location to confirm a few days before, and when I got there the day of my reservation, they didn't have any vehicle for me. NOTHING. Even though I WAS in their system, phone number and reservation and everything. They said it was probably corporate's fault for making promises their franchise locations can't keep, which honestly, I trust to be true, since this has happened to me at two different locations. It might not have been a problem if I had gotten notice that this location could not fulfill my reservation (so I could have made other plans!), but I didn't find out until I was there and needed to move THAT DAY. So that's why I think this is partly the location's fault. Like, warn a girl that her day is about to be ruined, you know? Anyway, get it together, U-Haul. Corporate and individual locations alike need to work on their communication, with each other and with customers. I will NOT be using U-Haul ever again, because just everything about this experience (and my previous experience! Which I thought was a fluke!) was unacceptable. Your entire business model is providing vehicles to people to make their moving experiences easier. You failed on every level. Except for the price, I guess. But the anxiety isn't worth it, especially since moving is already very anxiety-inducing.

This was the first time I've returned to a location where they check out the truck while I was there, so I liked that aspect of this location.

I reserved a truck from 11am - 7pm two weeks prior to pick up. An hour before my reservation, I was told I could get my truck at 2pm. Upon receiving my truck, I was then told - on site - that this Uhaul location closed at 5pm. I told them there was no way I could pack the truck, move everything to my new house, unpack, and return the truck IN 3 HOURS. I was told to return the truck the following morning NO LATER than 8am. Also, because of the surrounding neighborhood, I was told I shouldn't leave my car in their parking lot overnight. Long story short, my 8 hour moving window was reduced to 3 hours for reasons never explained to me. After moving my belongings,I had to park the truck at my house overnight, take an Uber to pick up my car, wake up the next morning to return the truck by 8am, then Uber back home. I was going to also use the truck to pick up a couch, but had to tell the seller I couldn't pick it up because Uhaul unapologetically screwed my moving schedule the day of. Again - no explanation, no apology, no positive customer service whatsoever. Terrible experience overall and would absolutely choose another truck company next time around.

I had to wait an hour and a half at the location. past my reservation time to get a van because vans were overbooked and being overbooked. It was a waste of my time since I couldn’t leave as vans could be returned at any time - wish I was notified if my van was not going to be ready. Uhaul employee tried her best to accommodate.

When I returned the van today the employee said I would receive an email of my receipt. Later when I got home about four hours after returning the van, I called uhaul around 8pm someone eventually answered and I told them that I did not receive the email. The person did not say anything and I was on hold with the music playing. I did not know if I was being transferred or what.

The truck had a massive gas leak on the top of the tank. I spent $120.00 filling it up. 10 gallons went on ground before i noticed it. I had to take the truck back and was told I could not get my money back for the fuel and I had to leave the truck there because of the fuel leak. They had no other trucks at that site so I had to go to another location for a truck. This whole process took 3 hours. I had to pay a helper $75.00 for the standby time because of your screwed up dealer. Their screwup cost me $195.00 and 3 hours,

I was instructed to pick up at a site very far from where I had first indicated. That being said, the in-person pick up/drop off process was smooth and employees were efficient.

The location was great. However my experience with uhaul not so much. I booked a 10' van a week in advance at my local store. The. I was told I had a van booked at the uhaul store the next town over. Then 10 minutes before picking it up I got a call saying they didn't have the van I ordered available. Called customer service and they booked me another one the furrher town over again for the same time Id booked for. Then this place I showed up to and they said it was only available for 4 hours the one I had been rebooked to on the phone. Then I had to choose a smaller van Instead which made moving more of a hassle. I got there in the end and the people were friendly enough but I was NOT impressed by all these logistical errors. Made my move more stressful

Uhaul absolutely dropped the ball and I am have had to go to extreme lengths as a consequence of their mistake. I reserved a 10' truck and tow dolly to move from Oakland to LA. I get to where uhaul told me to pick it up and neither the truck nor the dolly are there. My truck was at a different uhaul across town and they had no dollies at all, anywhere in the bay area.. Apparently it had been stolen a week earlier. Nobody called or emailed to tell me that but what they did tell me at 8am on move day was they had was a full 15' trailer. NOT something I know how to tow, definitely not something I want to drive through the tight streets of Oakland and LA and most importantly not what I reserved 2 weeks in advance. Now I have 0 trust so I call the other location to make sure they have my truck and they threatened to cancel my order because I wasn't there at 8am - dude of course I'm not there, you guys have my truck in the wrong place! I had to make the decision to leave my car in Oakland and I'm writing this review on a 12 hour TRAIN ride 3 days later to pick it up and tomorrow I have to make the drive again. So uhaul cost me 2 hours of my move day, 2 full days of travel to get my car, $80 for a train ticket, another $60-80 in gas to make the drive a second time, and about $25 in ubers so far. On top of the $360 and $120 in gas I had to put in the truck. The whole move should have come in around $550 and taken 2 days, instead I'm looking at a week long process and coming up closer to $700. Completely trash service and I had to tear through layer after layer of incompetence every step of the way to get what I needed. If I had time or options I would have dropped the order and will in the future never use uhaul again.

I’m very disappointed with U haul I received a call one day before my pick which was scheduled in Concord and told to go to Richmond instead of Concord. When I arrived at Richmond they didn’t have my trailer, and I Had to go to Oakland I wasted several hours And I only received a small discount for my troubles but I’d spent more on gas driving from one location to the next. I don’t think I’ll be using U haul again. Not a good experience!

I was not aware that reservations could be cancelled after 30 minutes - I arrived 33 minutes after my reservation was supposed to begin and my truck had been given to someone else already. I had to make do with a cargo van as opposed to the 15' truck I had reserved, and this made my move much more difficult and time consuming. People at this location were very helpful and nice however.

I had originally asked to pick up this truck in Hayward because that’s where I lived. The day before I’m told I have to pick it up in Oakland. So I take a $20 Lyft to get there and the guy sends me out with a quarter tank of gas. I then had to waste the gas just getting back to Hayward, load up the truck, and then spent $60 filling it up to ensure that I get to Santa Rosa. I thought it was really crappy to send me on a one way with a quarter tank of gas and this whole experience was a big inconvenience on a stressful day of moving.

I ordered a 6x12 enclosed trailer. I was sent an email that the location near me that was listed to carry it didn’t have ove so I was directed to an location 5 miles away. After waiting in line for 30 minutes I was told they didn’t have an enclosed trailer. They only had open trailers. When I expressed my dissatisfaction they told me i i had not order a enclosed trailer. If that is true, I’d say there was something wrong with the website. If it’s wrong shame on them. Either way I was not pleased with my experience.

Not a location issue, but a national system one: I paid for the optional insurance. Someone put a minor dent in the back bumper while I was parked. I did the honest thing and reported it when retuning the truck. U-Haul then said it was going to charge me to replace the bumper, despite my having your insurance, and despite the damage being nowhere near enough to require replacement. That's fraudulent twice over. I had to resort to a charge-reversal and legal-action threat to resolve the matter. Should never happen again.

There does not appear to enough room in front of the store. Lots of room behind the fence where the rental items are kept. So when people pick up there rental units and remain in the front, you can not get off the property.

When I made the reservation I wanted Berkeley, I ended up in a dicey area of Oakland, the people were very nice and accommodating but it look me an extra 30 min each way and the roof of the trailer leaked and soaked the contents. Everyone at the Oakland location was lovely but it was an inconvenient location in the extreme.

Call Center and Customer Service representatives [on the phone] were horrendous. Call center promised tie down straps would be provided with motorcycle trailer rental on two different occasions [once before booking, and once after]. however when I showed up to pick up the vehicle, the store manager stated that was not the case. When I called customer service to sort out the discrepancy at the shop, they stated that there was nothing they could do, because the call center employees "do not know what they are talking about, and just tell the customers what they want to hear". It was the worst explanation, and customer service I have ever experienced. The call center is at fault, and a company that knows this is the case, and does nothing to remedy it, is even worse. I will never recommend or use U haul again. I will go out of my way to tell this story to everyone I know, so that they know what to expect. Note: The store staff supported the comment from customer service, confirming that the call center simply lies to the customers, and it causes these sorts of situations constantly. They did what they could to accommodate me, but the experience as a whole was completely ridiculous.

It would have been helpful to know that I would have to drive an additional 30 mile to a different Uhaul location to get car carrier. With traffic that added a additional 2 hours of moving time. Might not seem like a lot, but it did complicate plans

On the technical end, I was sent the wrong location in my confirmation email. When I went to the location that the email directed me to, they said they didnt have a truck for me and had to call the dispatch to find out there it was. Luckily it was at a vendor just a few blocks aways.

Ramon was simply outstanding helping us obtain the truck. We are very thankful. However: we reserved the truck for San Francisco pick up weeks prior to pickup date only to be told the day before that no truck would be available. It cost us an extra $95 to pick up the truck in Oakland and drive back to San Francisco so we could load. That was and remains unacceptable to us and the business operations were clearly not adequate to meet a long term reservation.

Uhaul has poor trucks & equipment. The employees are nice, but very limited in providing great service because of the equipment. The gas was stolen from my truck overnight- about $100 in value. The staff was not surprised! As a customer, this is horrible. Uhaul doesn’t care about its customers or trucks to ensure security of gas caps. This experience reminded me that quality is always better than brand. I will never rent from Uhaul again. I’d rather pay more for quality trucks/ equipment and deal with staff that have resources to provide high quality service.

I’ve been here before about a year ago and I can say that things have definitely changed. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience at this location but this last one was a great on. I have never got inside one of their trucks and didn’t want to immediately roll the windows down. It smelled so fresh and clean both inside the cab and cargo. Wow. Outstanding customer service from check-in to check-out. You guys have an excellent team that goes the extra mile for the customer. Will definitely be making this my go-to Bay Area location.

I rented a van advertised for $19.95/day. By the time I returned it, 4 hours later, the charges were about $100.00, a far cry more than the advertised charge. The gas tank was a little more than 1/2 full when picked up and I had to guess at the amount that was needed to return it with the same amount I started with. The woman who assisted in the rental was a bit terse and suggested that if I did not complete the agreement on my phone when I was standing in front of her in the office I would be charged as if the car was not returned/stolen. I wonder what people do if they do not have a cell phone. I have rented from U-Haul in the past but will very unlikely do so in the future.

First of all you can start by not sending customers to 4 different locations to pick up a UHaul that was reserved 2 weeks prior to needing it. 2nd you can fire the jerk at the El Sobrante location (Arco Station, 2nd location I was sent to) Moving is stressful enough without his rudeness. Je gave away my Uhaul and didn't say anything but " I dont have any, go up the street". Paid 2100 dollars for this and I honestly do not know how you stay in business treatingypur customers in thos fashion. Got a whole 50 dollars back for my inconvenience. I live in Vallejo, and had to go to downtown Oakland. Ever been to downtown Oakland? Ever had to sit in that traffic on the way to Oakland?? You guys put me at least 3 hours behind d schedule. Your service in that area sucks. The only helpful person was the guy at the 2nd location in El Sobrante, not the jerk at the Arco Station. The guy at the 2nd location deserves a raise and a pat on the back, at least he gave a crap about helping me. UNBELIEVABLE!!

customer service has been really bad. there was no one at the counter for 20+ minutes and then the white man who came out tried to tell us that we were supposed to self check out when that setup was not available yet. it was truly infuriating because there had not been any communication about that at all. this is not the first time this has happened to me and my staff who come to pick up uhauls almost every week.

The attendants were excellent. The man who took care of rental was polite and respectful, and the man who took the vehicle back from me was the same, as well as very responsive. Good service! Obviously, the only thing wrong with the location was the location itself... nothing in it was a problem. The neighborhood is dicey, but the actual facility was well kept, neat and well organized. Everything about it gave me confidence I would be well treated, and I was.

The guys and young lady have great customer service.The lead was a little frustrated and short with conversation because he was the only one up front on register,helping basically myself and another customer.I would of gave 4 stars but the fact that they dont have enough staff on registers causes the wait time to be extremely too long.They are working overtime to please customers and arent being supported properly by the upper management.Thats not fare to the staff or customers.Employees should be supported 100%,so that they can give that same service to the customers. Store was clean,rental was clean as well and the return was a smooth process.

Another U-Haul location asked me to come here because this location had the 5x8 enclosed trailer that I was looking for. I knew that the trailer was reserved for starting the next day, but since I only needed it for a few hours, it wouldn’t interfere. When I tried to rent the trailer from this location, the clerk tried to get me to take 2 other trailers. I told him that I’d carefully read the measurements online and only the 5x8 enclosed would meet my needs. He told me that they only had one and it was reserved. Thankfully, since the other location gave me the full details, I pointed out that it is only reserved tomorrow. The clerk unbelievably said, “yeah, but it’s a one-way and I’d rather rent to him”. I thought that I must’ve been misunderstanding something so I explained again that I only needed it for a few hours and that he could rent to both of us. He acted like he was doing me a big favor by relenting and permitting me to rent the trailer.

I had a horrible experience dealing with the road side assistance. I was on the phone for over 2 hours without talking to an actual person except to be transferred, put on hold, or told i needed to call another number. In the end I found out I needed to pay for the service out of pocket and spent those 2 hours wasting my time when I could have just called a tow service myself which arrived in under 10 min, Horrible customer service if you're ever in need of roadside assistance.

Not this location, but national U-Haul might take care to give renters the correct opening and closing hours for locations - and not just list rentals as of 12.00am to 12.00am! Fortunately, I called the location first, but even so I didn't realize my consequent 7.00am pick-up time was also their opening hour, so, arriving early, I had to wait (because there was soon a long line of customers, this was not in itself a bad thing, but...). There would be nothing unlikely about a 24-hour large urban U-Haul location, so national's precision on hours should be automatic.

The staff were personable and professional - the fault lies with the “location” which apparently instituted a recent change so everything has to be done on an App but there is no info about this when you reserve online. Then you have to do it all over again if you intend to walk in to get paperwork. So I wasted twenty minutes filling out forms and uploading photos beforehand the. Did it again on the app when I got there. Also I got a copy by email from U-Haul of another customer’s bill, complete with name, address, phone number. Privacy no-no / incompetency.
