I have used this location many times. Today's experience was better than usual, as I didn't have to wait in line a long time to get the trailer or get a receipt after drop off. One of the things that's not good, is that the yard entry access from the street is not very good, and there's not enough customer parking.Stephen R.
Online app and customer service counter did not sync up when picking up my reservation. Counter person insisted that I would have to pay again. Finally got it sorted on his computer but online app did not work well. Also told me a different location and no receipt.Christine K.

I think it is deployable how you have your equipment set to add mileage and double what people actually drive. My roundtrip was 30 miles and charged me for going over 45 miles. HOW DARE YOU? I am filing a complaint with corporate. You must stop this??????Michelle H.

Train employees to at least pretend they want customers there... the 2 women at the counter were very unwelcoming and gave off the impression they didn't want to be there. Let me just start off by saying my services in Oakland was superb. My husband and I would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the lady who switched our services for us because of the rudeness of the vendor at 5501 Shattuck Ave, Oakland. She went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. Not too many places you can find like that now-a-days. Overall Uhaul you have our business and we will let our friends, family and others know that 5330 International Blvd, they will not let you down. That guy at 5501 Shattuck may have rubbed us wrong but you know what? The good always outweighs the bad.Lisa B.

Regarding this location the person providing our equipment was minimally helpful telling us that our rental was â€œthe one way in the backâ€. He was absent for the inspection and the van was at 18 miles until empty. Once we got into the back there was an infestation of ants that had to be cleaned up. On dropping it off the kid didn't seem to care about the condition it came in and just asked if I had photos of it and said â€œwel ma'am I can't really do anything about that. Regarding the larger corporate uhaul we made a reservation weeks ago and on the pick up day no one knew anything about it. The resulting efforts to fix the issue made us late. And the whole time no said I'm sorry for this mix up or anything of the kind. The over all experience was terrible which is a shame because I have had good experiences with uhaul previously!SAMANTHA V.

Was suprised to find out that 6X12 trailers do not have a jack. Since you may have to uncouple it before returning it, due to a parking situation, emergency, etc, you would have to call someone or carry a jack and support lumber in the trailer.Steven S.

This facility was very helpful and convenient, but looked very dirty in spite of it's location. It did not comport with U-Haul's image, but again, they made up for it with good service and convenience.JORGE D.
I needed a tow hitch to attach to my SUV and the only one that this location would sell my was old, worn and used. When I asked for a new one I was told that there were no more in stock, which was surprising since I could clearly see new ones on the shelf, but was told they were not for sale. In addition the trailer I rented was filthy. There was so much mud in and on the trailer that I returned it two hours later, deciding to go rent elsewhere. The service personnel were discourteous and disinterested in helping. I will never do business with them again.John B.

Insurance coverage was purchased as part of my reservation, but the details of the coverage was never explained. Consequently, it was a waste of money since it turned to not cover a broken window.JOYCE C.
Our truck was barely above an1/8 of a tank when we picked it up. We had to fuel twice. No good! Why don't your agents simply fill up the tank and make us bring it back full?Clifford W.
Incorrect/misleading advertising. On the website it mentioned 24/7 returns, and even at the site it advertised 24/7 returns but when I picked up the keys to my rental, they told me that I had to return it by 4:45 pm. Even after this statement by a rude representative, I still got another text reminder that 5 pm was the drop off time. It is important to give consistent information to clients and this was as inconsistent as possible.Jasmine J.

An older black man was soooooo helpful. He was there when I came back and he was so friendly and helpful. I will always remember him. I was having a very rough day and he really made my day. The person who rented me the truck was wonderful and very friendly. Easy process. Returning the vehicle was difficult. A woman worker opened the back door and yelled at me that the truck was dirty and I had to pay 25 $. She had a very harsh demeanor. I noted that it was not dirty, I got it like that, and that I would clean it out. But I would not pay the fee. She insisted and i repeated that I would not pay the fine. A friendly worker lent me a tool and I removed a few leaves. The woman then began to talk loudly at me and was very agitated She refused to check me out. She walked away swearing about me. I could clearly hear her. I've rented trucks with ease at this location at least 10 times over the years. Wow, I was really taken aback by this worker's level of anger. I should be reimbursed for the rental fee due to this hostile behavior. Many workers witnessed it.Margaret R.

Staff is difficult to work with. They can't answer basic questions or listen to a customer explain what they need. If you question them they give a lot of attitude and take it as a personal offense. I'm not sure they are trained on customer service at all. They are impossible to reach by phone. If they do call you back it will be minutes before closing as to avoid the return phone call. Overall one of the worst U-Haul locations I've dealt with using them for my business. Will be looking elsewhere moving forward.Frank L.

clean the truck. look in the cupholders, around the seats, and in the loading area. I found an old sweaty shirt, peanut fragments, a sticky old straw, and a bucket of nails wedged in the cargo bay. also, when someone requests a dolly, actually put it in the truck. fortunately the employees offered me a refund on the dolly right away.Paul D.

Awful experience here. Did not have the equipment we reserved when we arrived. Provided no solution or back-up option. We were stuck on the day of our move without moving pads and had to desperately beg our friends and family for back-up moving pads to use. We had RESERVED these! What is the point of reservation if it does not exist? Truck smelled of cigarette smoke and was dirty. Gas tank was not full. Overall frustrating experience, will not recommend to others. Made me wish we could book with a different company.Deirdre F.

The pick up location didn't check the truck and when I check it myself there were blanket all over the truck and one big bag of blanket in the passenger seat. I asked him to remove it he refused and been told to return the tuck as it is. When I return the truck they ask me why should I have the blankets which is funny I did not request them and I didn't use them. I was originally scheduled to pick up at Gilman street in Berkeley. I went there and was told that the truck was unavailable because a part of the truck was stolen. Understandable, things happenâ€¦ however, I was disappointed by the customer service there. It was frustrating that the solution for the problem was for me to have to contact UHaul Customer Service and find a new truck. Not a huge deal but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way that I was basically told it was my problem to solve and not the company's. I'm guessing that the representative at the U-Haul location at Gilman street probably didn't have the ability or know how to do solve that problem. That seems like something they should be trained or have the capability to find a solution to a problem like that without just giving the problem to the customer to figure out.Samuel M.

I wish these trucks had a camera that could function as a stand-in for the rear-view mirror. I'm a bit spoiled with it on my car (2017 Chevy Bolt). That extra visibility would help me feel safer. Also wish I had a recycle option for the airflow, especially while driving through wildfire country.Stuart N.
