My trailer had lost air in the tire so I took it in to u haul 4417 Hollister Avenue Santa Barbara they have a full shop there and they didn't even want to fill the air up so I could drive away and not worry about damage to the trailer

I called the SB location directly to communicate my complaint as well: We paid U-Haul for the insurance when we picked up the vehicle. The vehicle we rented was unfortunately dented near the top while we were driving. We notified U-Haul staff of the damage as soon as we dropped off the vehicle. He was unsure if the damage would be covered by the insurance (as it was near the top) and assured us that a manager would be calling us to discuss further. We never received any calls or emails about the damage, and therefore we thought that it would be covered by the insurance policy. Over a month later, I wake up to an email receipt from U-Haul stating that I was charged $651.19. This is a terrible experience to be charged this amount with no warning. This is a LOT of money to me. It is more than I have paid to rent a room in SB. It is more than the amount I pay every month for the FULL premium of my health insurance. It is unacceptable to NOT call a customer and discuss this before charging. I understand that the vehicle was damaged and we were very open and honest when we dropped it off. I am very upset that U-Haul did not bother to reach out before charging a significant amount of money to our credit card. If possible, I would love for this to be escalated and for someone to contact me to discuss further.

I was very disturbed to see and hear how the manager, Abel, spoke to his employee (the person helping me). I felt that Abel was disrespectful. It put a very sour taste in my mouth and I wanted to stand up for the employee.

Better communication during pickup process. No explanation of vehicle condition check (that it was done before customer pick-up) or that text message would be sent to review equipment blemishes. I was told that the truck would be brought up to the side of the office but it was not clearly communicated that the truck was ready to go and I did not need to wait for them for anything else. After waiting by the truck a while I went back into the office and was told that it was ready to go. The two employees were extremely busy and rushing around. The equipment was in very good shape and very clean.

Had a medical emergency the morning of the pickup. Contacted office to inform them we would be late picking up and didn't know when we would be by that day to pick up. Was told that 2 hours after reservation time, if it wasn't picked up, truck would be released. Asked for extension or hold. Was denied. Made it to location, explained the situation and was given same rules. Told staff I would take keys right then. Was asked where I would park my personal vehicle and went on to describe rules of not allowing personal vehicles to be left on property. Had to move personal vehicle blocks away and walk back to get rental. Zero compassion, concern or flexibility. I politely asked numerous times if my card could be charged and truck could be held for me. Every time I was told they couldn't do that. I had a wife in the hospital that morning and was traveling with a child in a car seat. I wasn't asking for anything other than some understanding and flexibility. I wanted to pay in full for the rental but that wasn't accepted. This was a very robotic interaction. Staff wasn't willing to go one inch outside the box for a customer. No interest in dealing with this location again and will question renting from U Haul in the future.

I called the day before and requested a truck with a ramp-there was a whole conversation about this as i was moving some heavy pieces of furniture-the agent told me that they would get a 15 ft truck for me that had a ramp. I arrived at the santa barbara location, the woman at the counter had difficulty finding my booking and asked me if I was Elaine-clearly not, I am a male-although granted this woman has the same last name. In any event my booking was found and , she said there was a 15 foot reserved for me and went on to say that she did not have any 15' trucks at this location and my reserved truck was at the other location---so I walk 20 minutes to the other location to find that indeed my reservation was there, but it was a 10ft truck and this location does not have 15' trucks--the agent there was great-he called back to the other location and organized a 20 ft truck at the 15 ft price-so I walked 20 MINUTES back to the other location. Mean while I have people calling me as I am late showing up in the places when I am supposed to be to collect furniture. When I returned to the original location, I spoke to the woman who sent me down the road-I asked her why would she send me down the raod to get a truck that I clearly could not use. She did not apologize and had somewhat of a i don't really care attitude, so I became angry with her to which she walked away saying she would not deal with me. Really the agent at the other location said this particular agent had already sent 3 people to him that morning all of which were frustrated with the run around. She proceeded to go out back of the store after I asked to see the manager-After about 10-15 minutes I walk around to the back to find her just standing out there watching him with another client with all of them laughing-she sarcastically looked at me and said he(the manager was with a client) Really!!!! This person should be fired. I requested a dolly with large wheels, they gave me one with small wheels and it was not secured to the truck wall so it crashed all over the place and I had to secure it with my own rope so it did not damage my furniture - however this left me short of rope to secure my furniture-I worked it out but should not have been necessary-When I took possession of the truck the gas guage 1/4 -So before returning the truck I also filled up the tank after only going 29 miles - the truck was left on "tow" and the agent said that that can chew up lots of gas-$42 in gas for 29 miles--When I filled I watched the gas guage to try to match it to the 1/4 tanks mark-Ientirely filled the tank and the guage stayed on 1/4 , It seems the guage is faulty and I suspect a way to make money on gas from unsuspecting customers. I have rented many times from Uhaul and it is usually pretty good this was beyond frustrating with horrible customer service-not to mention wasted a huge amount of time and energy. I am grateful to the agent at the storage location who saved my day - So I am con

It took a very long time to check the truck out even though I had reserved it. Some basic instructions on the truck would have been useful such as how to adjust the mirrors, using the parking brake, type of gas required etc. Also it rained on.my drive and the wipers were completely useless. This is dangerous.

More obvious signage for equipment return entrance. When traveling North on Hollister/State it was difficult to tell if I needed to turn left or continue straight to access your parking lot. I was confused and ended up blocking traffic and having to pull far into the intersection with my Uhaul truck + tow dolly once I realized I needed to make a Left turn.

This location without telling me, raised my reservation from $144. to $260. A Uhaul Rep approved the refund on April 25 once billing came thru, but it's only today May 6 that - no refund yet - I couldn't get uHaul to respond. Uhaul rejected my dispute without informing me. So both this location's glitches and Uhaul computer glitches caused a lot of problems, but a top manager has now finally affirmed that I will be refunded.

First of all, not even one single sign for U-haul. This is a mechanic shop and when we called more than once trying to find the location, no one even mentioned the fact that it is in a mechanic shop. Secondly, they DID NOT have the truck I requested! They told me to wait till 4 if I wanted the 15ft I reserved. Finally, after wasting close to an hour, they found me a 20ft truck at a different location. 20ft consumes more gas than the 15ft and considering my trip was from Santa Barbara to Oakland, this made a difference. I spent close to $200 in gas!

Desk staff should be educated and coached to answer simple questions like, 'What is being taxed on this rental invoice?' and 'Why is there a environmental fee for a rental?' (it's not a body shop producing products need special disposing). Both of these questions were met with condescending attitude like they were stupid questions and and were dismissed with a "if you want to know call corporate:" Less than ideal representatives of your brand.

I have been using U-Haul at this location beginning in the summer of 1995. The corporate culture of u haul is to treat each customer exactly the same, whether it is the 1st visit or the 25th visit. No acknowledgement of being a return customer. This never sets well with me. American Express, Delta Airlines, Royal Bank of Canada are three companies which can "see" whether a person is a repeat customer and all three will acknowledge a person as a repeat customer. U-Haul, regardless of location, Atlanta, Cheboygan Michigan, Santa Barbara, does not acknowledge returning customers.

When someone reserves a certain size truck with a pull out walkboard and winds up with a 10’ truck which has no walkboard, that was one problem. The other problem was with the smaller truck, two separate runs had to be done, which means double gas & double miles. Good for U-Haul but not good for the customers. Anyone can take a reservation but it’s the holding of the reservation that’s most important ! On that note, I have a 26’ truck reserved for April 13th & 14th. Will my reservation be honored ? We were moving a piano and they gave us the wrong dollies. They were not what I specifically asked for. BIG BUMMER when we got to our location. Made the move very frustrating, a friend was injured and the move took twice as long as it would have. We should have double checked the equipment was correct before we left town but it shouldn’t be that hard to get the order right

I did not realize your CDW was ***FAKE INSURANCE***! I bumped the top of the truck on a low overhead inside a storage facility, and the insurance DID NOT COVER IT. This location was more than accommodating with my move issues. I needed to keep the truck longer than originally reserved as I was waiting for the keys to my new house. I was impressed with the quality/newness of the van I rented. The only negative from my experience was the 24/7 system when renting the van. The process was generally smooth but when it comes time to approve the transaction it took prob 5-10 minutes which was annoying. At that point there was nobody at the counter and I could have just checked in manually but the representative said they'd have to start from scratch. You should either set expectations in the app for how long this could take or better yet, pre-approve the user.

Phillip received my equipment back. He did not say hello when I said hello, would not look at me or engage with me at all. He was combative, RUDE and very impersonal. He argued with me about the extra day that was added to my reservation due to an error on Uhaul's end with the return reservation. He insisted on trying to charge me for another day even though Nicholas in Traffic (who was incredible) had given me the extra day at no charge. Nicholas was great, FIRE that guy Phillip. He was HORRIBLE. I will not return to this location with him there. And I will need to rent again soon to get my stuff back out of storage. I've been using UHaul regularly for 20 years and this was my only bad experience.

You're company is one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. You messed my orders up more than 5 times for different things, and youre costumer service is a joke.
