My trailer had lost air in the tire so I took it in to u haul 4417 Hollister Avenue Santa Barbara they have a full shop there and they didn't even want to fill the air up so I could drive away and not worry about damage to the trailer

I called the SB location directly to communicate my complaint as well: We paid U-Haul for the insurance when we picked up the vehicle. The vehicle we rented was unfortunately dented near the top while we were driving. We notified U-Haul staff of the damage as soon as we dropped off the vehicle. He was unsure if the damage would be covered by the insurance (as it was near the top) and assured us that a manager would be calling us to discuss further. We never received any calls or emails about the damage, and therefore we thought that it would be covered by the insurance policy. Over a month later, I wake up to an email receipt from U-Haul stating that I was charged $651.19. This is a terrible experience to be charged this amount with no warning. This is a LOT of money to me. It is more than I have paid to rent a room in SB. It is more than the amount I pay every month for the FULL premium of my health insurance. It is unacceptable to NOT call a customer and discuss this before charging. I understand that the vehicle was damaged and we were very open and honest when we dropped it off. I am very upset that U-Haul did not bother to reach out before charging a significant amount of money to our credit card. If possible, I would love for this to be escalated and for someone to contact me to discuss further.

I was very disturbed to see and hear how the manager, Abel, spoke to his employee (the person helping me). I felt that Abel was disrespectful. It put a very sour taste in my mouth and I wanted to stand up for the employee.

Better communication during pickup process. No explanation of vehicle condition check (that it was done before customer pick-up) or that text message would be sent to review equipment blemishes. I was told that the truck would be brought up to the side of the office but it was not clearly communicated that the truck was ready to go and I did not need to wait for them for anything else. After waiting by the truck a while I went back into the office and was told that it was ready to go. The two employees were extremely busy and rushing around. The equipment was in very good shape and very clean.

Had a medical emergency the morning of the pickup. Contacted office to inform them we would be late picking up and didn't know when we would be by that day to pick up. Was told that 2 hours after reservation time, if it wasn't picked up, truck would be released. Asked for extension or hold. Was denied. Made it to location, explained the situation and was given same rules. Told staff I would take keys right then. Was asked where I would park my personal vehicle and went on to describe rules of not allowing personal vehicles to be left on property. Had to move personal vehicle blocks away and walk back to get rental. Zero compassion, concern or flexibility. I politely asked numerous times if my card could be charged and truck could be held for me. Every time I was told they couldn't do that. I had a wife in the hospital that morning and was traveling with a child in a car seat. I wasn't asking for anything other than some understanding and flexibility. I wanted to pay in full for the rental but that wasn't accepted. This was a very robotic interaction. Staff wasn't willing to go one inch outside the box for a customer. No interest in dealing with this location again and will question renting from U Haul in the future.

I called the day before and requested a truck with a ramp-there was a whole conversation about this as i was moving some heavy pieces of furniture-the agent told me that they would get a 15 ft truck for me that had a ramp. I arrived at the santa barbara location, the woman at the counter had difficulty finding my booking and asked me if I was Elaine-clearly not, I am a male-although granted this woman has the same last name. In any event my booking was found and , she said there was a 15 foot reserved for me and went on to say that she did not have any 15' trucks at this location and my reserved truck was at the other location---so I walk 20 minutes to the other location to find that indeed my reservation was there, but it was a 10ft truck and this location does not have 15' trucks--the agent there was great-he called back to the other location and organized a 20 ft truck at the 15 ft price-so I walked 20 MINUTES back to the other location. Mean while I have people calling me as I am late showing up in the places when I am supposed to be to collect furniture. When I returned to the original location, I spoke to the woman who sent me down the road-I asked her why would she send me down the raod to get a truck that I clearly could not use. She did not apologize and had somewhat of a i don't really care attitude, so I became angry with her to which she walked away saying she would not deal with me. Really the agent at the other location said this particular agent had already sent 3 people to him that morning all of which were frustrated with the run around. She proceeded to go out back of the store after I asked to see the manager-After about 10-15 minutes I walk around to the back to find her just standing out there watching him with another client with all of them laughing-she sarcastically looked at me and said he(the manager was with a client) Really!!!! This person should be fired. I requested a dolly with large wheels, they gave me one with small wheels and it was not secured to the truck wall so it crashed all over the place and I had to secure it with my own rope so it did not damage my furniture - however this left me short of rope to secure my furniture-I worked it out but should not have been necessary-When I took possession of the truck the gas guage 1/4 -So before returning the truck I also filled up the tank after only going 29 miles - the truck was left on "tow" and the agent said that that can chew up lots of gas-$42 in gas for 29 miles--When I filled I watched the gas guage to try to match it to the 1/4 tanks mark-Ientirely filled the tank and the guage stayed on 1/4 , It seems the guage is faulty and I suspect a way to make money on gas from unsuspecting customers. I have rented many times from Uhaul and it is usually pretty good this was beyond frustrating with horrible customer service-not to mention wasted a huge amount of time and energy.
