Picking up the U-Haul moving van went very smoothly. The person who helped us was very thorough and knowledgeable. They were also very kind throughout the whole process. Not so much understaffed but just poorly run. On a Saturday morning, 3 reps were outside misting/wahing a truck when there were plenty of clean ready ones in the back. Self check-in was laboriously inefficient. Had to search through the entire back lot to find my reserved truck then had to walk all the way back to the front office to get the keys and then hike all the way back to the truck again.Richard B.
Honestly from start to finish, utilizing U-Haul for my move and storage purposes was incredibly inconvenient. Anytime I need assistance with something I was met with "we can't do that". I was not provided clear instructions for pick up. I spent several minutes in the rain trying to located my van after being told it was in a location that was ultimately incorrect. The return process was okay but took a very long time.ROBERT F.

UHaul didn't have the staff on hand to load our U-boxes onto the mover's trailer on the scheduled date of delivery. Note that we booked Moving Help through Uhaul, which you would think would make things seamless. They tried to blame it on the moving company for arriving in the afternoon (which is what we scheduled) instead of the morning, as is apparently typical - but it sounds like Uhaul also didn't read their messages and see when the movers were coming. Overall, an incredibly frustrating experience - I hope to never have to book with Uhaul again.Emily S.
Hire more staff. They were completely overwhelmed with a long line. I reserved for 0900 the night prior, showed up 15 min early. Finally got truck , inspected and drove off lot by 0930. The staff was great. Line was too long and slow for a reservation. Asking for a friends # to be called and vouch for me at 56yrs old was odd and embarrassing â€¦ really bizarre and unexpected. I actually keep telling people what a positive experience we had! I honestly didn't have high hopes with a large company, but Uhaul was awesome every step of the way â€" from the first person I talked to at a Rental/packing store about my options, to the people dropping off/picking up our boxes, to the scheduling folks who called multiple times to confirm drop off/pick up info. There were some hiccups involving new staff misplacing keys, mis-parking vans. But it was all handled excellently by senior staff. Mistakes happen and the real test of good service is how that is handled. They did a great job.Rory P.

There was a power outage on The day I was supposed to pick up the truck. First your call center socks. I had to make several calls to find out why I am not able to check in online. No one was knowledgeable enough to help me with that. The guy at the location was rude and unprofessional. He didn't want to help anyone at the door asking him what we should do since there is an outage. Then a lady came at the door who looked like a manager. She was awesome and super helpful. You gotta improve your call center otherwise you will get the same feedbackRoohollah T.

First, my pickup spot was moved clear across town which cost me extra time and gas money. Second, the online checkout process was not working which was frustrating. My frustration was further increased by having to provide 2 references before I could finish getting the van. Finally, the truck was sent out with a 1/2 tank of gas, which is annoying because I had to figure out how to return that van at the same 1/2 tank level.Daniel S.

I did send a complaint about the service a week ago and I haven't even got a response. This is what I wrote: Yesterday I needed a CargoVan to pick up a mattress so I went to rent one with Uhaul. At 7pm I had the van. Picked up my things and went back to the UHaul store at 8:46 , did the revision and dropped the keys on the mailbox. Apparently I see now that I've been charged for another 4 hours period of using and also for another 10$ of insurance when the truck was in your possession the whole time! I have pictures of the truck in the dropping spot at 8:46 if you need them. I honestly don't understand what's going on. Nobody told me nothing about extending the rent and I don't know what's going on. I've been renting Uhauls for a while and this is the first time this happens to me. I'm not paying for this extra charges when I didn't even have the truck. THEY STILL CHARGED ME FOR IT. And I'm not even talking about how racist the guy at the shop was.SANTIAGO N.

The people were great. The check-in process was confusing. I had self-check in but I still had to go to a gate agent for the keys. Why bother having self checkin if you have to spend time waiting in line to check in with a person?Christopher W.
I used the mobile app to pick up my truck before your 9:00am opening. I was scheduled at 8:30am. After walking around the building and yard, I found my truck parked in between two other trucks. I had to walk the grounds to find someone to talk to and then was told that we open at 9:00am. I found someone else, Justin, that said he would go in and try to find a key to move the truck in front of me. 20 minutes later, Justin did move the truck and I was able to leave. Upon my return, I was told I needed to fold up( they were in a pile together) the moving blankets I rented, or be charged a $25 cleaning fee. I find that ridiculous and poor customer service.Dirk D.

They do not advise their customers of a 14,5 percent county imposed transportation tax. Regional manager Kyle campion is liar and a cheat... along with the manager AMY. U haul owes me $530 as this was the additional tax I paid. THERE ARE NO OTHER COUNTIES IN OREGON THAT CHARGE A TAX AND THERE IS NO SALES TAX IN OREGON. IF I WAS NOTIFIED AHEAD OF TIME, I WOULD HAVE RESERVED THE EQUIPMENT IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, OREGON WHERE MY STORAGE UNIT WAS. UHAUL CORPORATE SHOULD CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS EGREGIOUS UNDISCLOSED CHARGE AND TAX. TOTALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME I WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN AND WILL ADVISE MANY OTHERS TO AVOID UHAUL AS WELL... THAT WILL HIT UHAUL FOR MORE THAN $530 BUT IM POSITIVE UHAUL IS LAUGHING AT ME NOW AND COULD CARE LESS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BIG TO FAIL AND FULL OF CORPORATE GREED.DOUGLAS K.

The Wi-Fi at the pickup location does not work. Either install Wi-Fi that works or change the system so that a customer can check in without being right next to the building. We lost about two and a half hours trying to follow U-Haul protocol of checking in on our phone while at the U-Haul location. The signal doesn't work in the building so we were standing (outside) next to the building trying to get through the check-in process before getting thrown off the systemâ€¦time after time after time. This made checking in very frustrating to say the least.If it were not for the wonderful gal behind the counter going above and beyond, we would have given up and left.Carl E.

1) Nearly a 20 min wait to pick up reserved truck 2) While waiting in line, two staff asked me if the rig parked outside was mine; but never said "I'll be with you soon" or otherwise acknowledged me as a customer like the white people in line 3) Insulting policy of asking me and another person of color to provide a reference to be called on the spot to vouch for me --the white customer was not asked to do this, I've never been asked this when renting from U-Haul or anyone else!!! 4) In my previous attempt to use this location, I arrived to find they were "over booked" and I had to go to another location--they could have at least called and told me before I arrived 5) I cleaned the truck but since it was raining there were some wet sweep streaks on the floor; although they were going to mop it anyway, they charged an extra cleaning fee just cuz they couldOscar J.

**Please follow up with call. I do not believe I received service as I paid for and am entitled to a refund on my rental"" (Corey - 503-519-5605). I registered to pick up my truck at 7:30 am. I DID NOT receive notice that this was not possible until I was required to register on your app and on the way to the facility. When there (at approximately 7:45, I was told by Trever they had a busy Saturday and the rental was not set up. As a busy father with a young family with SEVERAL timely commitments on Sunday (including paid for, scheduled movers) I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK UP LATER AS ADVISED I WOULD NEED TO. After being on hold for an hour for a call back, the disinterested call agent replied "So you want me to cancel your reservation?" NO!!! Today is moving day ... I need to move but my reservation needs to be held at the committed time of 7:30 am! I was cut off as I had my daughter screaming in my ear on the call, asking for a call back when I was free (I did not receive a call back). When I was able to return again to the facility (10 am) I was told by Trever (who is personally amazing, btw, good worker) - that they were out of trucks. Come on, U-haul, you can do better. Trever was able to locate two appropriately sized trucks ready for wash and inspection, HOWEVER, the first one was found to be damaged and had to be pulled from service. Fortunately, the last truck was able to be leased to me, 3,5 hours AFTER my committed pick up time. My concern is two-fold: U-Haul was unable to meet their commitment for time of pick up. U-Haul was unable to NOTIFY me ahead of time they were unable to meet their commitments. This created for me wasted time, wasted expense, and a terrible kick off to an already stressful day moving while managing a young family. I will not be using U-Haul again if you can not follow through on their commitments. I will advise anyone in need of renting a truck away from U-Haul. I demand a refund/discount on this rental. This was an avoidable error on U-Haul's part and made for a very poor customer experience.Corey K.

There weren't any issues w/personnel, but the rental process had several significant hiccups along the way including the free storage I booked initially not being available when I went online to check my reservation. I was initially charged for another day because apparently the storage and drop off location for the truck were different but the GM of this store reversed that charge. Overall felt like the people working here made it a good experience but Uhaul could do much better in terms of the emailing they sending detailing drop off and storage being more seperate and clear.Jerry F.

Monique from Columbia Blvd was beyond phenomenal from the very beginning of me utilizing the storage units. There were dropped balls from another facility at the last minute after a 3000 cross country drive in a 26 foot truck. We had made reservations a week in advance for a big unit to store everything in the 26 ft truck we were driving from the east coast. We arrived as planned and met our hired workers at the facility to unload. However the Milwaukee,Oregon facility on Mcgloughlin blvd manager told us they did not have our unit available nor any extras with no explanation as to why as a matter of fact he was extremely rude and stressed and short with us and dismissed us…. It was late and we we were exhausted. I called corporate immediately and we had to keep the truck over night. The next morning Monique called back and immediate went into action. She planned everything and problem solved and rectified the situation . During the most outrageous time in the world (a pandemic) and not to mention there was a major total renovation at this property at Columbia Blvd uhaul in PDX . I was treated with compassion and respect and always very professionally. If there was ever a situation or problem I always was able to reach out to Monique and she would manage her team accordingly. I have had so many personal issues since my transition to Portland with the unexpected COVID pandemic . These situations affected me personally and professionally as well as financially. Not once did Monique or her team ever make me feel anything but valuable as a client. Monique has been extremely professional and showed extreme humanity through her strict diligence laced with upmost compassion and empathy all with a direct and firm respect for her guidelines. I'm so thankful for Monique making my experience wonderful despite all the chaos involved. Also in closing there was a new manager named Aimee at Columbia Blvd store who was extremely professional and kind and definitely attentive in doing her best to answer all questions and help me move out properly all while multitasking with other clients and employees who all needed her attention. She did it with a smile and great time management and a great girl by the name of Alesha next to her. My overalls experience has been met with great respect and gratitude for the team at Columbia Blvd under Monique's leadership. I felt valued as a client and was appreciative for the grace given during a major transition in my life during my departure from the units at UHAUL.. I will always be grateful. Facilities at extra space storage are much nicer and more convenient all around. The pathway leading to the u-haul storage is busted and makes it extremely difficult pushing storage carts in and out (your items may fall off and become damaged) lighting could definitely use improvement and there's barely any parking seeing 9 or so spots and at least 3 always seem to have a u-haul van in them that's not in use. When I was late on my payment I called when I finally could make a payment and when I went to access my storage unit it still had a delinquent lock 12 days later and the employees working there all seemed to have attitudes and tried to get snarky and says they remove locks when people pay (which I had many days following my needing access to my unit which put me out more time than I anticipated) all around would not recommend for anyone looking for a good storage space experience definitely take notes from your competitors they're doing things right. Bad things: elevator that breaks down, door to unit that is broken, my card not working to let me into the building, and most of all, that I am somehow paying for all of September even though I moved out on September 4th. I have an access code not a card to swipe This location seems to be unclear on how access code works, I entered my code to check in at the center key pad as directed, however system denies me access to the sliding door and regular door when I enter my code there FIX this problem. I came by at 7:03 pm on 7/10/21 and because of this was denied access. Someone had a door propped open with a fire extinguisher so I was able to enter the building, this is obviously a safety issue this site needs to address. However they likely did it because after 7 pm their access code did not allow them to enter through the slider or door.Linda H. | Online Move In

I was very disappointed with my experience dealing and travelling with U-HAUL. When first receiving my truck and trailer, I had to travel more than an hour outside of my desired pick up location. When picking up the truck, which was at a different location as the trailer, there was no Staff at the location and I had to run through the pick up procedures with someone over the phone. I had ordered a dolly and furniture blankets to come with the truck. I was told over the phone "yeah so we don't have any of those, so you can call another dealer to try and find some". Once I drove the truck to the location of the trailer and hooked it up it was realized that the trailer lights did NOT WORK. The process of fixing this issue caused my wife and I to delay our international travels by an entire day. After 3 hours of being on the road, the ENGINE LIGHT came on and the truck began to OVERHEAT! Roadside assistance was contact but did not respond. After checking the truck engine I found there to be NO COOLANT. I then had to buy 2 1 GALLON containers of coolant to reach the full line. After reaching our destination uhaul N Columbia Blvd. Portland OR, we were greeted by LAVINA who was the only helpful staff member we were in contact with. Our trip was a disaster and at times we felt unsafe and unsure of if the truck was safe to drive. I really like this rental facility and storage. Staff very helpful. Loved the promotion of first month free with truck rental. In the future I would design the access ramp to be able to back in the load from the u-haul truck easier rather than the ramp that switches back.
