The manager on duty is a jerk, he's rude and knows nothing about customer service. I did the pre check in and was the 2nd person in line. It took him 1 hour to check me in, then gives me a truck w no fuel, then speaks down to me. No way, if this wasn't the only Uhaul with a 15 foot truck I would have walked out. He's a short Asian dude with no customer service skills. Sat in his office during busy times until he was called out to help. Horrible experience. I'll never go to that location again. Horrific.

They were not ready on time, the location itself is just a trailer and is quite strange. The woman was taking pictures of my license on her personal phone. Definitely had better experiences at other locations. Also, woman wasn't wearing her mask properly.

I reserved at a specific location, got email confirmation to pick up at that location along with a confirmation number, showed up at that location right at pick up time and they had nothing for me. Thankfully I've heard terrible reviews of the system, so I was expecting frustration with the pick up/check in process. 14 minutes after my scheduled pickup as I'm sitting at the first location trying to figure out why they don't have me in the system, I got a text and email from U-Haul now telling me to pickup at a new location miles away. Actually picking up the truck was easy and the person working was wonderful. But the run around is ridiculous. Moral of the story: if you're known for complicated and misleading pick up process and your customers expect that from you, you're doing something wrong. Moving is such an incredibly stressful time as is, and this just added to it.

I reserved my van at a specific location due to my proximity. U-haul changed it with out telling me. The oil light was on. Needs an oil change. And I was over charged by $20. The switch - a- roo. Don't think I will be using U-haul again. Unless it is made worth my while. Enterprise picks you up and drops you off at their locations.

Your app experience is absolutely terrible. The fact that you're a franchisee run company with an a centralized app is nonsensical. If something goes wrong, as it did in my experience (the truck I booked was mistakenly given to another person) there is no way to correct or ameliorate through the app itself, causing (in my case) quadruple charges on my credit card. I also really really dislike the fact that I need to take a photo of my license and go through the whole rigamarole each and every time I rent a truck/van/pick up. Using your app makes me want to throw my $1,000 phone into a river. After using it several times for rentals, I can safely say that it has been removed from my phone and I will ONLY be booking directly through the dealer from now on.

This company is a fraud. I have all the photos of the vehicles. The dealer is a liar and admits that that location frauds people regularly. Do not rent from u-haul! Go with another moving truck company. Over charges. Rude. Lies about the final inspection but doesn't expect the customer to have a brain in their head to take before/after photos.

The truck itself was pretty dirty but I did put in this request right before picking up the vehicle. It ran very well and the staff were very accommodating as I had to extend the use several times.

Here's the deal: We signed up for everything online and when we arrived they didn't show us any kind of agreement and only after the fact did we realize they charged us for services we didn't request (safe ride insurance which I did not select at checkout, additional fees that were not stated online or in-person, etc.). Additionally, the guy told us to keep the Uhaul overnight because we couldn't drop it back off at that location after hours (had no idea they closed at 5pm). The next day they charged us for the additional day and an overnight fee which we had to call in to get refunded (it should be noted we came exactly at opening 9am like the previous guy had told us to). (They also didn't show us a receipt upon checkout but I only found out later when I checked my email.) Also the Uhaul itself smelled like someone had been smoking a crap ton of cigarettes in it which was pretty disgusting. And also, that location is just generally horrible. Not just because of the location itself, but there's an old car sitting out front, and what looks like an old defunct Uhaul that's where they store all of the add-on products. All-in-all a very disappointing, gross experience. Even though more inconvenient to us, we will be going to a different location next time if we even decide to go with Uhaul again. Massive bummer when we were using it to move a couch and bring donations to a local charity to be completely nickle-and-dimed.

Van was unclean, on the outside. Windows, FILTHY- Had to wipe them down to even drive away. No worries, the people there seemed quite busy and doing all they could. (Maybe understaffed due to someone calling in sick?) Some confusion as to where it was safe to park the van after hours, (and if I would face a $ penalty), but otherwise, I was grateful for the rental.

The girl who worked the counter was very nice but the truck was so dirty I couldn't see anything out of the side mirrors and the windshield was covered in bird poop and dirt. I left my moving blankets by mistake in the truck when I returned it. When I called the next day the guy behind the counter was not helpful or professional. He told me they weren't found, it wasn't possible they were left. I knew for a fact they were so went down, again he wasn't willing to help. Finally, I asked him to look up my truck number and if I could go check, they were in the back where I left them. I've used Uhaul several times and this wasn't a good experience. At this point I am going to look for an alternative.

As I said When I picked up the vehicle. It was filthy. Looks like it's been run through the mud including the windshield wiper was just a mess. And I couldn't get it cleaned. Also the inside may have been tidy but it's smelled. Dropping off the vehicle is a little scary because nobody's there and there's a bunch of homeless camps right around the corner. So as a woman by myself. Having to Parkette and take all these pictures and then having to go up to the gate and put the key away. It makes you very uneasy.

This was the sketchiest location I've ever been too. Plus I rented the U-Haul a month prior and I was told that they didn't have any record of it so I had to get a smaller U-Haul. I would not ever in a million years, unless I moved into the homeless shelters on the other side of the fence that's held up by a rope connected to a manhole cover, recommend this U-Haul station to anyone. The trunk experience was satisfactory.

I scheduled a truck for 9am on Sunday August 23, the employee was 30 minutes late to the location. I had an extremely tight window with reserving parking and elevators. Then when I returned the truck at 12pm the same day. The employee wasn't at the location again. The fact that I paid $67 dollars for the employee to not be at the location for the pick up or delivery is astonishing. I understand that the world is upside down right now, but the fact that I paid for such a horrible Experience. I will tell everyone in Portland to avoid this location and uhaul in general.

I was overcharged for my local rental estimated at $77 but was charged $152. Never in my life I was charged for a local U-Haul rental $152! They added charges like a after hours drop off when I could have just kept the truck by my condo 2 streets down, they added a charge for folding blankets that they never mention to me . I'm so disappointed at this location . I will not be using U-Haul again and I will be disputing a charge with my bank. Total rip off .

Horrible service. Very disappointed in this experience. I had made a reservation 24 hours prior and they kept shuffling my service to different locations without notifying these changes. I called in the morning to verify they had my truck at the location intended and the man said yes, I called again an hour before and he couldn't find my reservation. It got transferred. So I had to call the operator/service and get it transferred back all cutting into my reservation time. Upon arriving they were not ready and they had no idea what they were doing, waited for over an hour before we could take the truck....Very disappointed. The truck was rented to me almost completely empty of gas. I didn't realize this until I was on the freeway. I called the rental location and they said not to worry about it, just put a few dollars of gas in the tank and you'll be fine. I put in $10 and drove 25 miles. This amount just got me by at 7 gallons/mile. Upon return, they are now charging me a surcharge for refueling. How could a rental facility rent a truck that is on fumes to begin with? And then to blame and charge me is absolutely ridiculous. I will never rent from this location again and will be disputing the charges.

Van covered in bird feces, store opened 30 minutes late; store closed at least 3 hours too soon (my rental contract was from 9-5; returned vehicle at 3pm, and for no reason, location closed); it was a horrible experience and I will be never using that U-Haul location again. I will certainly be sharing my experience. I tried to call local office, but voice mailbox was full. Get it together UHaul; what you provide isn't rocket science.

My uhaul was scheduled to be returned at 4pm. I arrived at 3:57 and they were closed. Turns out 4pm on a Wednesday is after hours. I paid for on street parking for 3 hours and hoped things turned out for the best because the site both had a drop box for after hours drop off, but also had signs saying no after hours drop off. AT 4 PM! Also the online checkin process suggested that there will be no disinfecting between trucks ie. Is your truck clean and ready for the next family? This photo will show the next family where to find the truck. Im disgusted that you are not taking COVID more seriously.

Ask all customers to take a before picture of mileage as well as an after picture. Assuming people had done their job correctly cost us in doubled mileage. You ask for an after picture but should request a before as well.

The phone based rental was one of the most frustrating things i've used in AGES. I paid attention to the emails, uploaded a photo of my DL, etc, etc. When I got to the location, I was THEN asked to provide an alternate contact info, which my person couldn't answer, as they were at work. The other options were A PASSPORT PHOTO (who in the heck carries a passport around for a uhaul move), a LEASE AGREEMENT (why would I have that on me) or some other ridiculous form. I had to try 4 different people that would answer an UNKNOWN NUMBER in 2020 and confirm whatever Uhual asked. THEN I had to upload a photo, apparently without a mask, take something like 6 photos of the vehicle and wait for someone to approve my rental. I'm sorry folks, this rental system must have been pitched/designed in dialup days, it is pathetic compared to almost every other online process I deal with on a daily basis. Get it together.

No chalant customer service. Huge error, this email still has me listed as Matthew Weller. I am Jon Arionus just like the driver's license and credit card I handed you employee said. He put the wrong personal information down apparently someone else who rented. Put the wrong drop destination city down and seemed very casual an attitude that is very much reflected in his work

Truck mileage and gas was entered into my contract wrong. Took me over 45 minutes to return the truck due to the mileage being incorrect. I was charged an extra $100 because I supposedly didn't put enough gas in the truck. Says it was full when I received the truck, I drove less than 7 miles And there was a quarter of a tank. Long story short, when I move my stuff out of storage at the beginning of the year I will use a different company or location unless uhaul makes it right.

Daniel service worker there was not very helpful when it came to using the virtual check in process, the system is not his fault but his attitude was not great and made me feel like I was the one in the wrong, not sure if he is always like or was having a bad day, but I definitely will think twice before I use that location again.

Arrived at vans towing for rental truck pickup. Was instructed to use online check in to receive keys. However service attendant did not know how the online check in worked so I spend 20 minutes trying to figure it out with zero help. Eventually he just gave me the truck keys. The worker told me to deliver the truck back at 3pm. The U-Haul truck I received had a cracked lower drivers side mirror which I wasn't told about. When I came back to drop off the truck, vans towing was closed which the worker did not tell me it would be closed and gave ZERO instruction on how to return the truck when no one was there. The app and the drop off site had conflicting instructions on after hours drop off. I would not recommend ever again from renting from vans towing location and will probably avoid U-Haul all together in the future.

The truck was disgustingly dirty outside and inside the cab and bed. The gas was well below what they quoted it was at (3/4). The zip tie on the hand truck was broken already, indicating that they didn't even open the back to check from the last renter. Then, I was over-charged for the entire rental, because they input that I drove 20 miles, when I only drove 12. When I called to fix the final payment, the agent (Angel) was argumentative and unhelpful at first and tried to say that he couldn't even find a rental under my name from last week. When he finally found it after I spelled my last name repeatedly, I told him about the overcharge, and he said he would take care of it whenever he had the chance, but he was busy. Overall, a terrible experience, and a deceitful location trying to overcharge people. I've rented from this location in the past, and now I'm worried I may have been scammed in the past.

The "no contact" process needs to be streamlined and more efficient. I feel like I sent sensitive photos (drivers license info for "verification") more than I needed to (I had to send twice) and the "no contact" process took 25 minutes to complete when the gentleman who was there running the office could have just checked me out in less than 5 minutes (with the same level of safety). It made NO sense and was the ONLY frustrating element of the customer experience. Please improve this moving forward.

This is not necessarily a complaint about this location, but rather about the Portland Haul services as a whole. I signed up to drop off my rental truck at this location, and confirmed this with the pick-up location when I received the truck. However, once I returned the truck I began to get notifications from UHaul that the truck had not been returned to the correct location, that they hadn't received the return, and that I would be charged for stolen property. I talked to one rep and thought this was figured out, and then got another call about a week later accusing me of not responding to communications and again accusing me of "stealing" the truck. Personnel were entirely unhelpful and claimed I had never signed up to return the truck at this location which was entirely untrue. Thankfully, it all got worked out but I really did not appreciate this service.

It took us 30 minutes to figure out the process of finding our vehicle then we had to wait another 20 while they “approved” me even though I made the reservation weeks ago. THEN I was charged another $60 for gas when we dropped it off and we only drove a total of 16 miles.

The truck I picked up was FILTHY. Someone had used it to haul dirt and gravel so I couldn't even take it through a car wash. I turned it in with a bit of sand in it and was charged a cleaning fee.

Matt, the manager, Was one of the most helpful people I have ever dealt with. Everything was hectic and crazy and he was very calm and professional and very kind. He did an excellent job! Don't lose him, he's a terrific employee and we'll be back again because of him.

No one was at the pickup location. My original order was for the truck, 2 bags of moving pads, one appliance dolly. There was no appliance dolly, only one opened bag of a dozen pads two of which were wet with some of the others in a pile in the cargo bay. Otherwise the truck was fine, a couple of empty water bottles rattling around behind the seats.

horrible experience, worst ever. was not expecting to drop the truck off in a sketchy neighborhood. two signs on the gate...one said dont leave vehicles, other said leave them in the street. was not expecting a 100% self serve check in. I was offered $50 to return truck to Portland rather than my move destination of Vancouver, Wa it was NOT worth it. very stressful and I am very upset about it.

The online process was a little frustrating, but it wasn't this location's fault. Based on the situation, there was one employee at the location on a Saturday, and he handled himself very well.
